Only to abandon that career path for one thing

Writing.

Now I pursue a career as a copywriter while I work on my dream of becoming a successful novelist. I can't live a life expectancy less than 200 where my memory dies with my grandchildren and maybe a story or two that go maybe a generation more if I'm lucky. ...

I was going to make this long winded and entertaining, but in short. . .

Got hit with a virus that not only wiped off everything on my laptop but also everything on my external hard drive. Everything I've ever worked on in any capacity over the last 2 years is gone:

Theses
Novels
Short stories
Copy
Songs
Books
Portfolios
Business

Gone.

So that sucks.

On September 10th 2011 there will be a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) tournament in the greater Toronto area. For those of you don't know I have been training in martial arts and hand to hand combat for about 15 years now. I have trained with a number of black belts including the legendary Mendes Brothers (see my other blog).

But that doesn't really matter.

Competition doesn't make exceptions for peoples past experiences, only how many of those experiences have been dedicated ...

So it all comes to an end. . .

Tonight was the last full class with Rafael and Guilherme and tomorrow there will be a technical review of all we've learned from the past 2 weeks in the afternoon before they drive to Montreal. They won't be returning until February which makes me sad face, cuz these guys are sensational people to be around. So I am absolutely astounded at the progression I've made in a single week. The amount of detail these guys throw at you is ridiculous and really attests to their champion status. I'm glad to say that my game has changed and I am already using the techniques they have been showing to us while rolling in normal matches.

For those that don't know, or don't know me, I have been involved in Martial Arts for the better portion of 15 years. The last 5 of those have been in a martial art known as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ). If you don't know what this is, I suggest you get educated, and more importantly, start training! It is arguably the most effective 1 on 1 system out there. But that, and the debate that follows, is not the point of this blog.

So I have to apply to graduate school before December 15, which is right around the corner. Right now, I'm majoring in psychology, but I have absolutely no idea what I want to do anymore.

Yeah, clearly, but that's not the problem. I was all gun-ho about doing research, but I don't know what I want to do research on. I mean, I'm currently working with music psychology and that has a ton more real world applications ...

What part of a persons conscious thought process deems it acceptable to not bathe and/or brush your teeth before going into enclosed public areas..Where people are trying to study or do work and are distracted by your pungent, repugnant stench. Then when they are done, they get to go on the bus thinking they might be able to muster some sort of appetite that is thwarted by yet another odorifious greaseball.

I've had enough of summer vacation and living at the g/f's place..and (semi)unemployment. I wanna go back to school to my student house with my yummy student loan!

But seriously, I miss how much purpose I feel I have when I'm in school. It's like I'm always learning something new and exciting, despite how frustrating it can be at times. I also get to train/teach brazilian jiu jitsu for free, and get a full year gym membership for under $100...No more living like a slob! >.> ...

Hey guys.

Wednesday I will be going to my cottage until Saturday, at which point I will be attending a kegger..At which point I will be forced to devote Sunday to recovery and hopefully a soccer game. I will have my threads attended to by tuesday evening (tonight technically). It's a short leave, but I know there are people who want to keep things rolling and would like to know where their participants have wandered off to.
