  1. The Most Amazing Read

All about the myths of homeless children in Miami.

It's a little dated (1997), but still interesting.

  2. Character, Story, and Pride

I am guilty. I get too attached to my characters, and abanadon good storylines to save my character from certain death -- simply because I like the character. It's wrong!

While character is important it should be secondary to story/plot. And pride is another beast entirely.

You have to have pride in your writing -- you have to turn out the very best you can, everytime you can. But pride should never stand in the way of character development or story.

  3. Brielle [Short Short]

The gloves were the key. He needed them, and he always left them with her…not that she didn’t take good care of them – she made sure to keep them from
    Getting wet
    or
    dry-rotting.

He never carried his gloves himself; he trusted her to take care of them.
    And she did.
She rubbed them with oil from the corners of her nose to help the brown leather keep its dull shine.

Brielle smiled and tucked the gloves into the front of ...

  4. Sarah [short short]

Michelle called 30 minutes before opening and told Bobby she couldn’t come in. He cursed in the kitchen for a few minutes, threw a few plates against the wall. I kept quiet, folding napkins and polishing silverware.

“Damn fucking cunt! Good for nothing BITCH!”

His deep voice distorted by anger filled the hallway, bouncing off the pealing wall paper. I didn’t know why Bobby was so surprised. This was Classic Michelle. Michelle showed up late to your birthday party ...

  6. I missed it!

I missed the birthday of the BEST American Author ever! Zora Neale Hurston was born on the 7th. 10 days late!

    :(

But I'm sure that she would understand. To celebrate, I'll be reading Seraph on The Suwanee.

I encourage each of you to read something that is outside of the literary canon this month. Even if it's not Zora Neale, go find someone new and exciting!
  7. Leslie Nelson

  8. Dayglo

So the other day Alex and I went to a party at our local 'music store' called Dayglo. It was super awesome; everyone wore white and the walls, bar, floor, and doors were covered in black trash bags. The only lights were blacklights, and people bought bottles of tempura paint and just had fun trashing themselves, their friends, and the building.

I think it's like the modern days 'polite' society answer to an orgy. The dress code is relaxed (because honestly, unless you're in the hospital ...

  9. The Plague

I've always been fascinated with the plague. I think it would be interesting to play in an rp that took place during the plague; however I doubt that it could sustain itself or reach a reasonable climax.

I guess that's why the idea of a zombie apocolypse (a plague zombie apocolypse) would be so fulfilling. There is the pretense of being able to escape; it's alot easier to keep zombies from biting you than it is to keep your loved one from coughing on you on their deathbed.
