Gaia: Gaia is the name given to the Gaianist's Supreme Deity. She is the Creator of All Things, The Truth, The Universal Way, The Light, and so on. She shares an infinite love for all of Her creations; a love pure and unconditional. Gaia is weakened by the perversion of life, dissent between her children, and the ongoing clash of the triad.
There are three major deities that fall in line directly beneath Gaia in terms of importance and power. They are referred to as the Tribunal and they deal with matters of life and death. None of the Tribunal have a defined shape, though each has a favored avatar.
Watcher: The Watcher is an omniscient being who has taken an oath of neutrality and is simultaneously aware of all events that have taken place, are taking place, and will take place in all the realms of man. It is through the Watcher who sees all things that knowledge is passed to the other pillars of the Tribunal. During times that decide the greater fate of the world the Watcher is known to appear as a monolithic man, towering at an imposing 12 feet in height.
Judge: The Judge is the hand of fate that ultimately decides the destination of a being’s afterlife; their soul is to be weighed on the scales of life. Upon the scales, the heart of the deceased is weight against a single, ivory feather. Should the scales tip in favor of the heart, then it is deemed a heart heavy with sin and the soul of the condemned is sent to the Executioner. If the feather outweighs the heart, however, then it is the heart of a righteous man, a man permitted entrance to his paradise. The Judge appears as nothing more than a glowing ball of light.
Executioner: The Executioner is the being from which all nightmares stem, embodying little more than cold efficiency and empty murder. This thing’s punishments may range from mercy to torture, depending on the severity of the condemned spirit’s sin. A soul might be simply and painlessly devoured or it may be sent to the deepest level of its subjective hell, usually reflecting the greatest sins of the damned. The Executioner appears as nothing more than an empty cloak, occasionally with a skeleton residing within it.
Below the Tribunal exists three mysterious, personified forces known as the Triad; the Wyld, the Weaver, and the Wyrm. The Triad constitute the forces most involved in mortal life, and are told to shape and control eternity; interplay between these impersonal deities makes up all of reality. They represent chaos, order, and balance.
Wyld: The Wyld is the primal force of life and creation. It is dynamic, vital and generative, unpredictable and uncontainable. Its primary drive is for continual generation and evolution. The Wyld is not a force of change per se, although change may come of it, nor is it chaos for chaos' sake.
Weaver: The Weaver is a force of pattern and form. It is ordered and seeks system and control. Its primary drive is for universal law. The Weaver is not a force of stasis, although as the Wyld's dynamism brings change, so does the Weaver's ordering influence leads to stasis.
Wyrm: The Wyrm was originally a force of balance between the Wyld and the Weaver but its personification has lead it into madness. Now it is destructive, all-consuming entropy; its primary drive is for decay. The Wyrm is not innately evil, merely destructive. It lacks the true consciousness for evil, although many of its servants and followers could be so characterized in their fanaticism.
Below the Triad exists what are known as the ‘carnal forces’. They are beings of penultimate power and authority that, though far beyond the realm of mortal men in terms of prowess, have come to interact with the mortal world on a physical level. They are known as the Trinity.
Saint: The Messiah. He is the one that will lead all of the chosen children through the fires of hell on earth and into eternal salvation. He is the moon where Gaia is the sun and shines with much of Her light. Also referred to as the Son, this man is a true child of Gaia whose destiny revolves around two principle tenets; to bring peace to those pure of heart and to fight the Desolator for the souls of mankind.
Desolater: The Heathen. He is the one that tempts the hearts of man and woman alike, chaining them with their sins and dragging them down into the bleak depths of their personal hells; this is the one that will bring about the ruination of the world. He is destruction personified and pure evil pumps through his vein. Much like the Son, the Desolator too has a destiny to fulfill; bring about the end of the world, and fight the Son for the souls of mankind.
Arbiter: So very little is known about the Arbiter, save that when his presence is made manifest the end of the world is nigh. Until then he sleeps in the innermost sanctum, the very heart of the earth, and awaits the day that Armageddon comes to visit mankind’s doorstep. When the Son and the Desolator meet for the last time, the Arbiter shall be present, holding within him the power to decide the fate of the world.
