• Last Chance

    Town: Last Chance
Ruler: Glinda Double, the mayor (Glinda is actually a puppet for Natalia Nichole).
Type: Criminal. Run down but functional.
History: Last Chance was created as the final refuge by the hunted. In this town, and in this town alone, lawlessness thrives. It is unsure whether the existence of the town is government sanctioned or if the Terrenus officials, content that by allowing them a single point of congregation all of the criminals centralize in distant Last Chance, have merely averted their gaze.

Glinda Double started her life modestly. She was born to a family of drug addicts that sold her for money for more drugs, a rather common occurence in Last Chance. She was sold into slavery where she spent most of her wonder years selling her body for food and drugs. In her later teen years Glinda broke away and started her own brothel.

The moment she came into money, Glinda realized how cutthroat politics were and how much crime politicians were involved in. It was the perfect Double feature for Glinda. She killed and fucked her way up the political ladder until she reached her current seat of power as the 'boss lady' of Last Chance.

Population: Culturally diverse with a predominance of humans, gnomes, halflings, dwarves and the occasional Drow.

    Watchmen
-- 8,000 Guards, trained by the military and assigned from all across Terrenus.
-- 8,000 local police. The local police are a structured militia, for all intents and purposes. Since they are made up primarily of the citizens of last chance, as opposed to having been assigned there from a different city, the police are more likely to be corrupt.
    -- PeaceKeeper: AWOL.

    Hotspots

    1. The mayor's house. Belongs to Glinda Double. Her large and elegant estate is contrasted by the run down houses and buildings alongside, appropriately representative of Last Chance's corrupt environment.

    2. The Cutthroat Dagger, Tavern & Inn. This is the default tavern and inn, acting as the generic meeting spot between characters whose players are too lazy or timid to make up their own.

    3. Paotr's wishing well. A sign hangs from the umbrella top of the stone wishing well, reading in simple handwriting: Throw a silver piece and get one wish, but be careful what you ask of the world. One wish per customer.

    4. Shallow-Graves Cemetery (Submitted by ToxiCreation). Where a coffin is a luxury and the nameless tombstone is commonplace. The graves are dug fast and the cadavers are tossed in faster. Their last rights are the heave-ho of the gravediggers as they move on to the next body. In short, this is where the thug and the minion come to die.

    4. The Black Market. Here player-characters can come to trade/sell/buy all kinds of goods, ranging from illegal narcotics to stolen goods, and even materials that are otherwise inaccessible, such as those held on to by the Terran military. Any that want to deal with the black market legitimately, contact supernal.

    Canon
    1. Three years ago two strangers fought in the center of town, leaving behind a wide swath of toppled houses and general destruction. The damage done to the city has since been fixed, though given the nature of Last Chance it should come as no surprise that the renovation is recent. The smell of smoke still lingers in the air near the center of the town.

    Spoiler:
"On the hills to the northwest, there's said to be a man of solitude. Only a woman comes and goes as she pleases, and none are sure of how she gets to the mammoth house atop the large mountain pass, but anyone passing from Last Chance to Ashville may see the edifice of pure obsidian granite, pulled straight from the mountain itself. It seems foreboding enough and most whom travel past it, perform a ritual or prayer for fear of it's fearful and dark nature. None have been seen treading into the home, and only the awful wails of crying come from their every-so-often."
-- The old widow from Last Chance

"I once saw a man climb the massive rocks to the house, and I didn't see him leave for three whole days! I don't know what he could have been doing in there, but when the man left, he was carrying a large sword. I never saw him go in with one, so I wonder if the man on that hill -- in that house is a weapons trafficker? I don't know, but that big black house gives me the willies!"

    -- A fisherman of Ashville

"A man stopped into the inn here in Ashville and I commented on his sword. He said he got it from a Blacksmith south of here, but didn't mention much more. It was the most beautiful blade I've ever seen."

    -- A bar wench in Ashville's pub
