Located far to the North-Northwest lie a series of mountains known as the Draccor Heights. Although not as impressive as the Cold Mountains of the East, these rocky heights are still a sight to see. Waterfalls and springs fall from their cliffs, forming rainbows clearly seen against the mist that forms in the morning. Mountains goats are in abundance here, and perhaps deliberately so, for these mountains are home to the number of dragons living in Genesaris; Draccor is an ancient word for "dragon".
These mythical creatures are unlike the Western Dragons of Terrenus; Genesar dragons are long and serpentine with short legs, graceful and less vicious than other dragons. Though only a very few actually sport wings, all have the ability to fly with an undulating motion of their bodies. They may range in size and color, with differing facial features such as whiskers and beards, but many are large enough to carry a small number of full-grown men. In ancient legends, these dragons are wise, highly intelligent, signs of good fortune and said to bring rain and end cruel droughts.
Friendly as these creatures are said to be, they also seem to prefer privacy. It is said they live in deep caves located at the very peaks of these mountains, caverns facing toward the sea so that none are easily accessed from the mainland. No paths lead up to the mountains. However, it is said that there are a select group of people who share a deeply empathic bond with the dragons, and are allowed to ride their backs.
