Ignatz

Town: Ignatz.
Ruler: Odette Albright.
Type: Mecca.
History: Odette immigrated from Rosinder where her father, Lucian Albright, was an esteemed scholar. Access to Lucian's books and mind, a commodity that nobles and aristocrats pay heavily to acquire, made a rapacious, witty devil out of young Odette.

Working the odd job as assistant editor of her father's newspaper, and leveraging that position to acquire ever more lucrative positions with competitors, Odette soon amassed enough wealth to fulfill her dream of questing from distant land to distant land, acquiring as much knowledge and wisdom as possible.

Her travels, which took her first to Muhir and Renovatio then to Genesaris, eventually found her in Terrenus shortly after the Crusades wiped most of the Desecrator legion off the map. She met Odin personally and aided him in serving food and building shelter for the suddenly homeless.

Odette navigated the streets of Ignatz until she found a library to her liking and claimed her stake there, bargaining room and board for her services as a librarian. Her first introduction into politics came at the hands of the mayor before her, whose financially imprudent decisions nearly led to the foreclosure of the library.

17 hours later, Odette found a loophole in the zoning ordinance that made a permanent fixture of the library. 3 days after that Odette introduced her candidacy as mayor. A month and a half later she was mayor, and Ignatz has been making progress in areas of education, social welfare, parks and recreation, and technology ever since.

Population: Culturally diverse. Given the sheer amount of people that mass towards Ignatz annually, it should come as no surprise that the exact type and amount of races are too numerous to count.

Watchmen
-- 20,000 Guards, trained by the military and assigned from all across Terrenus.
-- 20,000 local police. The local police are a structured militia, for all intents and purposes.
-- 3,000 Paladins, militarized members of the clergy that have made their devotional vows to the town they reside in.

Hotspots
1. Odette's home, which is little more than the library she stayed in when first living in Ignatz. Thousands upon thousands of books and scrolls line her walls and floors, along with correspondence with family and scholars across the whole of Valucre.

2. The Purple Axe, Tavern & Inn. This is the default tavern and inn, acting as the generic meeting spot between characters whose players are too lazy or timid to make up their own.

3. The home and personal temple of Odin Haze, king and Saint of Terrenus. All temples are modeled after the one in Ignatz, which is the first of the temples of Gaia built in Terrenus, and the only one built by Odin himself. He built it alone, over a grueling and sleepless 3 day span which strenuously tested his geo-pulse ability.

Canon

With Odin Haze, Saint and King of Terrenus, acting as the focal point of many overlapping interests, the numerous events that have occured at his temple's doorstep are too numerous and fantastical to dare an attempt at writing it down.
