• Dead Peaks Prison

The invisible entrance to the pocket dimension that houses Terrenus's premier prison, simply called the Dead Peaks Prison, has no name. It is hardly spoken of except by those that have reason to fear it, for the criminals placed there are almost never heard of again, and those that work there do so for stints seven years long at a time. This prison is home to some of Terrenus's most dangerous criminals. It has long been considered an impregnable fortress. It's defensive and preventative measures are second to none.

    |Systems|
    • Mathematical irrelevancy loci, causing the interior of the prison to be larger than the exterior. A wrong turn into a wrong room will leave one stuck trekking across a tundra the size of Australia. The interior constantly shifts in a reflection of the Labyrinth Forest algorithm.
    • Numerous traps throughout the prison, from swinging pendulum, to snap iron-maiden, to punji trap, to fire-flush drop bag. Can only be deactivated by special rune utilized by Guards.
    • Golems: The GL-17RX model, the same model for Terran military defense, is used inside of the Prison. Their internal batteries are self-contained and opening the chassis risks triggering an explosion. All of their magical systems and abilities have been refitted with more mundane but equally lethal weaponry.
    • Chimeras: Monstrous genetic creations, a combination of the rejected experiments of some of the top scientists in Hell's Gate and made-to-order creations birthed in the lower levels of the Prison. A hodgepodge of the best predatory traits the monsters of Terrenus and beyond have to offer.
    • Guards: Capable of using earth magic through a laborious process that involved building the Prison piecemeal through material exported from Terrenus and brought into the pocket dimension, manipulated directly by way of tattoo etched directly onto the bones of the guards. The guards themselves do not know what kind of tattoo they were, to prevent information leaks.
    • The Warden is a Minotaur, lending him incredible strength, and a geomancer of remarkable skill. He is rumored to have been a PeaceKeeper in his youth before 'retiring' to become warden of the most dangerous prison on the face of Terrenus. The Warden has an additional tattoo, that allows him to alter the prison's hallways at will.

In this thread, Faustus Clemens has heard about a couple of break-ins into the Dead Peaks Prison and wants to try his own hand at it to see what the hubbub is all about. He brings along Cain, his second in command, and Fossil, his five-star general, to aid him in his quest. They arrive in Terrenus under the guise of homosexual lovers, riding in the S.S. Charon, a luxury cruiseliner owned by the Catalyst Corporation. After arriving in Terrenus they take a Lightning Rail to Hell's Gate, where Cain vanishes, and Faustus and Fossil go the rest of the way on foot.

    The main points:

    1. A prisoner is freed by the name of Alastor Creed. Link found in summary at end of thread.
    2. It is revealed that the Dead Peaks Prison being broken into is a fake. It's a real prison and houses real criminals, but the most dangerous are kept somewhere else. Somewhere more dangerous. In the heart of a void.
    3. It is revealed that (some) Terran scientists have been experimenting on prisoners.
    4. Faustus leaves sensors behind in Fillip's office to spy on the scientists remotely.
