Felyne Tribes - Matriarchal

The Felyne tribes of Isélyr are governed by a Matriarchal system. The leader of each tribe is known as the High Mother. Her responsibilities to the tribe include the creation and governing of laws in regards to the political, economic, social, and religious structure of the community. There are no males that reside in the main village of each tribe, rather, these males are sent to live in a separate off-shoot community that are still governed by the High Mother but have a Chieftain prescribed to them to maintain order since the High Mother is not there, herself. This Chieftain ensures that all laws decreed by the High Mother are strictly adhered to.

Once or twice a year, to preserve their race, the High Mother allows the females to visit the males. The male children that are born to these couplings are raised by their mothers only until they have been weaned from the teat and are then sent to live within the male community to be trained in agriculture. Some males are selected by the High Mother to receive training in the art of war. The female children are kept and raised in the main village by their mothers and are all trained in hunting and the art of war.
