Caste System of the Lizardfolk

There are five Upper Castes which allow members with this status to gain access to Arcane Knowledge. While there are some who choose to obtain this knowledge, it is not uncommon nor frowned upon for those who choose not.

Caste of Ecclesiastics - First of the Upper Castes, members of the Ecclesiastics are responsible for the spiritual welfare of the community. The laws prescribed by the Ecclesiastics are heavily reliant on their religious views and any deviation from these strict standards can, oft times, be grounds for a death penalty.

Caste of Scholars - Second of the Upper Castes, members of the Scholars are the historians of the Lizardfolk society. Accounting, record-keeping, cartography, and writing are all performed by Scholars.

Caste of Healers - Third of the Upper Castes, Healers are the physicians, apothecaries, and medical researchers of their society.

Caste of Architects - Fourth of the Upper Castes, the builders and engineers of the Lizardfolk. While their technology is extremely basic, the Architects of the Lizardfolk are renown for their constructs. Most noted, the extravagant Athenaeum, the library of Chemosh, which is said to have been engineered by the first Lizardfolk tribe of Isélyr.

Caste of Warriors - Fifth and lowest of the Upper Castes, this caste is the military branch of the Lizardfolk tribe. Members include the tribe's infantry, eokel-cavalry (battle scorpion riders), and shivora (aerial) troops.



There are literally thousands of Lesser and sub-castes in the Lizardfolk communities. Most noted are:

Merchant Castes - A very broad caste as this caste contains hundreds of sub-castes. This caste is defined by those who sell and trade merchandise for a profit.

Slaver Caste - A sub-caste of the Merchant Caste, these members deal in human and elven merchandise.

Quartermaster Caste - These members are responsible for the maintenance and training of the battle scorpions used by the Warrior Caste.

Peasant Caste - The absolute lowest caste of the Lizardfolk tribes, these members are responsible for the planting and harvesting of crops, maintenance of land, and production of raw foodstuffs.
