      Capoeira in Japan - Valucre Edition
      "AmazonMonk has started a kickstarter project which aims to raise funds for a documentary titled Capoeira in Japan. This project is an anthropological endeavor that seeks to explore the unity and cultural exchange between two otherwise distinct and disparate cultures; that of the dynamic, expressive nature of Capoeira and its moderate success in the reserved, conservative community that Japan is well known for.

      AmazonMonk is offering a few unique rewards created for contributing members of the Valucre community:

      $5 donation to Valucre (for any donation, $5 and under),
      Matching donations to Valucre (for any donation above $5 with "No Reward" selected), or
      Artistic reference material (for donation's $15 and up for Valucre members) - a collection of capoeira pictures featuring martial art movements from different angles and perspectives. Specific requests can be made in order to assist any artist or writer with envisioning and creating particular scenes or movements.

      Scientist is one of a handful of relatively new registrants that I consider a prime example of what Valucre is all about. She was recruited here by hawkwrithe, and it wasn't long after that that Scientist began to engage the site, and at a rapid pace. She started off roleplaying with hawkwrithe in Weland, the two of them laying down some major context for the story about to take place. Then the two of them cook up a funeral procession for the passing of the mayor and the rising of his son (hawkwrithe's new character) into the position.

      And then, you know what she did? Put together a flyer and posted in the Water Cooler that she had an idea and that the idea was to spark civil war in Terrenus. I spoke to her. She realizes that this is particularly ambitious, that it won't be easy to accomplish, that it will require her dedication and energy and she's all for it. More over in conversations with me, and with Damon according to what he's told me, she has a very clear and strong grasp of all of the lore that she plans to interact with and she knows how to control her pacing to keep from burning out.

      Due to health complications Scientist has recently had to have Valucre take a backseat, but even then she took the time to post a thread on the site and let us know.

      Not just ambitious, not just dedicated, but responsible as well.

      The roleplay is an Iselyrian Quest. The original post was made by me but I did nothing more than provide them with the information they needed to complete the quest (and then, only enough information so they had a general idea of what to do). The rest of the storyline, they came up with on their own. There was an abundance of twists and turns associated with any good plot, as well as the usage of Iselyrian lore that had already been established. With a few minor adjustments, it will become the first piece of Iselyrian lore completed and submitted by a member via role play. Zenophoenix and Fallen Joy were the main contributors to the role play and also the players who stayed through to the completion of the Quest. Below is the synopsis written by Fallen Joy.

      Synopsis:

      After getting the quest from Silvy, Seaia offers to get them a boat and crewmen to manage it, and does so by the next morning. They all sail off towards the island indicated by the map Silvy gave them, navigated by Seaia [this is basically where she stopped posting]. Right as the island comes into view, a giant gator attacks the ship. The gator is fought off and eventually killed by Joy and Azure without damage being caused to the ship.

      The ship anchors near swallow waters and Joy flies ahead to scout the island while Azure rows to the shoreline. Joy finds an open area within the densely forested island and lands to discover a waterfall descending into a pool with dead bodies, bones, and treasures beneath the surface. She doesn't have much time to observe because something within the area is starting to weaken her body, and she is eventually attacked by a throng of skeletons. She escapes before they can spear her. When she returns to Azure on the shoreline and informs him, they soon find themselves being attack by a horde of skeletons [50] and are forced fight them all off. They manage to do so, but are too exhausted to move afterwards so they rest until near dusk.

      As they sneak into the forest, Joy creates a distraction that lures a majority of the skeletons away from the waterfall and they reach it to find the lake suddenly drained-up for reasons they are not sure about. Azure leaps into the pit and scavenges through the treasures, but when Joy tries to follows the mysterious effects of the area weaken her again and she collapses. Azure doesn't notice, continues to look, and finds the locket. However, when he picks it up, the bones and bodies come to life, conflating together until they form an undead dragon. Azure rushes to Joy's side during this transition and tries to move her, but she's unable. So he tries to distract the dragon instead. As Joy fights the effects, she hears voices within her head, and realizes that souls from the treasures within the lake are crying out for her assistance, telling her only a holy light can defeat the beast and free them. Joy comes to the conclusion that the undead creatures of the island have been collecting the souls of traveling sailors, encasing them in treasures within the lake, and the reason she can't move is because the area was hexed to ward off holy beings [like pure angels, which she was].

      Joy continues to fight the hex and Azure continues to try and fend off the dragon, but he is slashed harshly by the beast and tossed aside. The dragon tries to charge Joy. Something inside Joy awakens [what is not explained], she transforms brief, and an energy shot is fired from her, blowing a hole in the dragon's chest and sending it stumbling back. When the transformation ends, Joy realizes she is no longer bound to the hex. The undead dragon quickly regenerates and charges Joy again, she escapes and hurries to Azure. After minorly healing him, Joy tells him to distract the dragon for a while longer so she can prep a purification of the island. For three turns Azure fights and Joy charges until she releases a Holy Arrow that purifies the island, releasing the souls and destroying all the undead. Silvy's daughter's soul is released from the locket, whispering a thank you to both of them before it disappears into the sky.

      Afterwards, they return to the ship, celebrate, then head back to port Hymir. They reached the port morning time. Azure described the duration of the quest lasting for a near week, so I am going to say it takes 1-2 days to reach the port from the island and vice versa. They are now at the fish shop.

      The spirit of Silvy's daughter visited the old woman, allowing her the peace she needs. Silvy offered up 300 vB, but also gave two of the adventurers one gift each. The gifts would have been Sirena's (Silvy's daughter) wedding presents had her life not been taken from her. A small recompense for the freedom of Sirena's soul, Silvy believes, but the trinkets her husband brought back with him from his adventures also happen to be two of Iselyr's Legendary Items.

      Joy [Fallen Joy] - Moyra’s Pearls – A hair adornment that allows its wearer the ability to manipulate water.
      Azure [Zenophoenix] - Cayla’s Dragon – The appearance of the copper dragon, Cayla of the Hunt’s favorite of all dragons, hasn’t been seen in Isélyr since the imprisonment of the seven. Legends say that the dragons lay sleeping in the coldest regions of the Nyssian Mountains, awakening only to defend their eggs. Noted by the sky blue surface with yellow veins that band across its surface, the egg of a copper dragon requires a continuous source of lightning for an indeterminable amount of time before it will hatch. If there is no lightning present, the egg will fall into a dormant status and the creature within will suffer no harm.

      1. These legendary items were given to the characters specified in these posts. The items can not be transferred to another user or character in any fashion. Any attempts to do so, the items will vanish and be returned to their original creator.

      2. It should be noted that the dragon's egg given in this quest is -not- that of a DragonMerge dragon.
