So I'm pretty sure Carlito posted the above on Facebook and I felt the need to post it again here. This article was surprising, I didn't know half these things were as bad as they are and some of them I didn't know were bad to begin with! Let's see what you think.

    In regards to two things:

Vaccines: The chances of getting autism or suffering nerve damage are far far lower than the chances of dying or even suffering from the diseases they're preventing. Well, except for in the U.S. and other developed nations, where mass vaccinations have pretty much eradicated the disease. Although, I have to say one thing: the vaccine for whooping cough isn't effective and for those who developed the vaccine, they're under fire. There has been a massive outbreak in recent years among 18-24 year olds who received the vaccine. I was one of them and it fucking sucked.

Sunblock: So many more reputable sources have refuted this claim rather than a holistic nutritionist. Also, you stick your kid out (or even yourself) in the sun for 10-15 minutes without sunblock- they've got their dose of Vitamin D they need for the day.

That being said, doing some research on the guy who wrote the article (Mike Adams) he doesn't state exactly what makes him an authority on the issue other than he made lifestyle changes once diagnosed with type two diabetes. Where does he get his degree? Does he even have a degree? Likewise, just because he's the son of a Pfizer contractor, doesn't ensure he is someone to be trusted. I also find it ironic that he compares mattel toys to mercury fillings, which have actually been outlawed in numerous states. I agree with him in that it's ridiculous we're not up in arms over it, seeing the toxicity of lead vs. mercury, but then starts talking about the chances of vaccinations causing severe nerve damage versus the damages otherwise. I'd also like to know where he got the information to begin with. Not to say it isn't all true (I agree with a lot of it... like antibacterial soap), but after analyzing the source and not seeing where he drew the information to begin with, I'd have to say...

I'd take a lot of it with a grain of salt until I saw scientific evidence.

Also, a lot of the stuff listed, if you use it correctly and teach children how o use properly, don't have the issues he brought up.

    That's true.

Fuck grain of salts, look it up yourself. What makes anyone an authority on anything? Pieces of paper with fancy looking credentials? When someone tells me something, I check to see if it's true. He doesn't need credentials, he just needs to be either lying or telling the truth. Checking it out yourself is never advice you should have to give, it's what everyone should be doing. Never taking anything critical like that at face value. That said, I don't know what credentials he has if any, but look into the vaccines yourself and see how much of what he's saying is true.

    Spoiler: Not a pretty picture.

Also to add on to something that Michele said. If used properly and in moderation, nothing on the list will have the effects there. That's the same for any substance the world over. Used in moderation, crystal meth probably clears up your skin, but it's not moderation that they're advocating. If they slapped a few toxic stickers and some more detailed and appropriate instructions on everything, we'd be gold.

Researched it. Here are just two of the sources I found:

ONCLUSIONS: Timely vaccination during infancy has no adverse effect on neuropsychological outcomes 7 to 10 years later. These data may reassure parents who are concerned that children receive too many vaccines too soon. (Source: Pediatrics; Jun2010, Vol. 125 Issue 6, p1134-1141, 8p)

"As many of us now know, after disavowal of the research by fellow co-authors, countless studies and media focus, the UK General Medical Council panel ruled on Wakefield's conduct on January 28, 2010. This was the longest-ever inquiry by the UK medical regulator, with the panel concluding that Wakefield [was] “dishonest,” “unethical,” “irresponsible,” and “callous.” His 1998 Lancet research was found to be dishonest and performed without ethical approval."
(Lancet Research = research into the link between the MMR vaccine and autism.

"A second mechanism of damage comes from neurotoxic materials found sometimes in vaccines. Thimerosal is the most widely discussed, since it contains mercury. The amount is small. Each vaccine is equivalent to the amount of mercury found in a 6 oz. Can of tuna fish. Nevertheless, some argue that even these levels may be important in a vulnerable child."

    "In summary:
1)The number of polio cases was declining before the widespread administration of the Salk vaccine.
2)Cases which had previously been reported as polio are now reported as meningitis.
3)The risk of contracting polio from the live virus vaccine is greater than the risk of acquiring the disease from naturally occurring viruses."
