It so happens that dealing with filling up my course load so I can graduate on time is proving to be more difficult than I had anticipated, and I was all but ready to flip the bird to dealing with it anymore when I got an e-mail from my research supervisor...

Hope you are enjoying the summer. I'm thinking about projects for thesis students for next year and I wondered if you wanted to work on an exciting project I'm doing on interactions between auditory and motor regions in the brain during rhythm processing. It would involve using fMRI to locate regions in individual subjects and then using TMS to see the effect of lowered activity in motor areas on processing of auditory rhythms. It would be in collaboration with an fMRI expert (at St. Joseph's hospital) and a TMS expert (in kinesiology)

...After reading this I became ecstatic, almost immediately. My role in research has been solidified and I get to work with some awesome technology! TMS is basically a tool used to temporarily zap/lesion areas of the brain at will and fMRI's read brain activity. I'm very excited and my involvement in said research is going to dictate my career path for the rest of my life!

That being said.. I want a TMS of my own >=)
