Rage @ Facebook

Rate this Entry
So I log into Facebook to check some shit and I get this thing telling me that I need to do some connections crap. I'm raging about this because the connections are public. This means that people can view my interests, and while this can be turned off (so they can't directly search for stuff you like,) it can still be accessed from the connected page's side. Example: I have Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas as an interest, and my profile will show up on the Fear and Loathing page if I want to have it listed in my interests.

According to facebook, these connections are mandatory if you want to have anything in your profile. It pulls from your interests, movies, music, and schools. I feel like this is a complete invasion of privacy and something that we shouldn't stand for.

Yeah, I agree. It is very much an invasion of privacy, and it really bothers me that there isn't a notice on facebook itself, like they're trying to sneak it under the radar to hide what it is. That bothers me too. I'd rather go with no info than anything, even though some people might view this infringement as slight, I still find it really annoying. I may end up closing my facebook profile.

Between the constant layout changes and infringement of user privacy Facebook is on a downward spiral, imo.

Actually, this is being debated in U.S. Senate RIGHT NOW. Or well, was. Earlier today. (I was watching CSPAN, don't judge).

Facebook is being debated in the U.S. Senate? I don't know how I feel about that.
