THE WORLD

The year is 3085. Mankind turns to the stars.

Colonization has been relatively easy with the innovations in engineering technology. In 2050, there were more engineers than doctors. By 2110, engineers had become the most common job occupation in the entire world.

Neural development and cellular growth were probably to blame. With the rise of technology came the decline of religion - humans bringing their hearts closer to the Absolute Truth, as it were. When 2112 snuck upon us, full blown DNA engineering was legalized, and enhanced brains designed vessels to chariot them to the Heavens – just to prove that there was no God.

This was called Project Babel, the great mitosis of human civilization. Not since the land rush were such grandiose tales spun: your typical iron pyrite in guise of gold, false hope, shattered dreams, the carrot dangling from the thread.

Humankind went to the planets, renouncing their faith, hope, and humanity for money, power, and debauchery.

Crime was uncontrollable. So uncontrollable that proper governments and social bureaucracies were replaced by syndicates, cartels, and dictatorships. It’s an anarchists’ playground, but no one’s pointing fingers. Rather than admit the tyranny of the present day, humanity has white-washed themselves into picturesque city-states.

Buildings claw and scrape at the sky with their cruel metalwork. Radio towers and vast metal girders connect the buildings into one large maze. You can order a dry martini from a mini fridge, you can buy a boyfriend for $39.95 a month, and you can genetically engineer your pets right down to the sweat glands. Why leave your home when everything is delivered to your door step? It keeps things safe!

It keeps citizens from interfering…
