If you don't know the beginning to this, read Pt 1.
So I am absolutely astounded at the progression I've made in a single week. The amount of detail these guys throw at you is ridiculous and really attests to their champion status. I'm glad to say that my game has changed and I am already using the techniques they have been showing to us while rolling in normal matches.
It's funny that I've been doing brazilian jiu jitsu for about 5 years now and I really thought I had a good grasp on things. I'm only a second stripe blue belt by formality, but my technical level is well into the purple belt range. I try to train at different schools to get a feel for different styles of jiu jitsu and add it to my game for a more comprehensive understanding of the martial art. On top of that I study endlessly digging up tutorials on the internet and adding those technical aspects to my repertoire.
BUT
Apparently it doesn't make a difference because I've been rolling with Rafa and Gui and they annihilate me like I'm a puppet. Yesterday I couldn't last a minute before Guilherme threw me to the ground and passed my guard instantly. Last week I almost passed Rafael's guard once but then every time after that he just swept me and tossed me like a rag doll. These guys compete at 155lb and 140lb and I walk around at 175 getting manhandled by them. It's really something else to behold.
Meeting and training with these guys is an honour. I hurt my knee and hip pretty bad yesterday and trained today in the morning to teach the techniques to some guys who didn't have the money to attend the seminar. I'm hurtin' pretty bad so it's rest time to prep for tonights training!
