Recently I watched an interesting movie called The Shrine, which came out sometime last year. It claimed to be a horror movie focusing around occultism and possibly satanism, so being totally into theology I decided to check it out. Despite my parents' belief, I don't have reverse pentagrams and crosses surrounded my computer desk, but I have studied various religions and I do love my horror movies. Put the two together and bam, you've got something I want to see.
The Shrine was both good and exceedingly bad.
Carmen and Sara are reporters who can't stand that missing people cases are abandoned and forgotten about almost as soon as they're reported. Currently, Carmen is pissed off about a missing dude named Eric who disappeared around some tiny village, so she drags Sara and boyfriend Marcus with her to said village. There, they meet what may strongly remind you of your in laws. Harsh, unfriendly stares. Extreme disapproval. Natural hate. And possibly the instinct to kill. In other words, the villagers don't like them and are close-lipped about Eric and just about everything else.
That's when the three travelers decide to go explore a weird phenomenon; there's a large patch of fog in a forest. It doesn't move, never goes away, doesn't respond to nature or any other outside influence. They decide to go explore it.
The movie makes it very clear you can't see beyond five feet in any direction in the fog. Like a dumbass, Sara goes straight in without so much as a rope. Like a dumbass, she gets lost and Carmen, like a dumbass, goes in after her. Marcus, like a dumbass, lets her and like a slightly smarter person, stays where he can actually see his hand in front of his face.
This is where things get interesting and makes the movie worthwhile because it's actually kind of creepy and pretty cool. It's a statue of some kind of demon. Don't ask which one, the movie will never tell you. But as soon as the women stumble upon the statue in the middle of the fog, things all go to shit and the villagers immediately begin to try killing them, implying that if they hadn't gone into the fog maybe they would've been free to leave in one piece.
The movie isn't a slasher film. It does have a lot of blood, but it's not like, say, your usual serial killer movie. You'll be seeing a lot of whacky demon faces and you will for the majority of the movie wonder what's going on, because nothing really makes sense until the very end, which was slightly clever in that you might not see it coming, and incredibly dumb because the whole explanation boils down to three words:

Finally, roleplay in Genesaris. Just read below! Otherwise, my penguins will kill you. And in another two days, I'll delete this entry and repost again until I write something I think is worth keeping.
