[Quest] Antigone Isles: Magic Revolt (Closed)

The Islands off the coast of the Southwest of Genesar were under siege. Their advanced city had discovered the art of sorcery and science. Many homes currently held magical items In there households for running water and facilities, as well as items for everyday life. However being biologically gifted with magic was feared due to the past bloodshed there civilizations had endured. Humans that possess the ability for magic are looked down upon and out casted, and for lack of a better word hunted.

Non-magic civilians were beginning to believe that magic was dangerous. The government officials were pushing to ban magic use and suppress it. License scientists are allowed to tinker with magic, with this license they have discovered how to “seal” magic into a confined physical spaces. The scientists use this ability to confine criminal’s magic.

Rumors of illegal kidnapping and experiments were spreading; the government was trying to figure a way to control the magic within the humans with the ability. Anyone with physic abilities had their own devices to suppress there gift. It is rumored that these devices are only used on criminals, and even so they were kept in high security with around the clock supervision.

This uproar has driven those born with magic to become agitated and angry with the government. Magic users are contemplating rebelling. With non-magic humans they find it to be threatening and plan on developing more suppressing devices. Something needed to change…. Quickly.

The bar was in an uproar in festivities, people chugging beer with mugs of dark ale being slid across the wooden counter top. People sung and danced with arms wrapped around each other. The beer sloshed with swift movements. Girls danced on the same counter top the beer traveled, it was a site to behold.

Avaron sat at the end of the bar as she peered around the young girls trying to get the bartenders attention. This was ridiculous; the building boomed with noise and hollered with laughter. Her arms were covered in cut off sleeves to hide the tattoos branding her as a magic user. Her thick lashes closed as her hand rubbed her face. A grown escaped her lips, Avaron placed her free hand on the empty beer bottle and she growled “Hey, Tender get me another!”

With her antics for attention she could see two people in the corner of the bar whispering and she listened in. They talked of the government capturing ten more gifted individuals and her eyes narrowed. It was if the Bar fell silent and they were all she could hear. ‘That must be why everyone is celebrating’ she thought to herself. Their voiced carried on about the danger of the people like her and she sighed “People are so stupid” Avaron grumbled to herself.

Crossing her legs her attention would be pulled to the bartender popping the top off another. He placed in front of her and she nodded “Thank ya” Avaron handed him two small silver coins. The man receiving the coins smiled nodded back and grabbed the empty bottle from her as well. She took a long hard swig of the non-carbonated beverage and hung her head. ‘What is this world coming to?’ she asked herself, annoyed.

The war against magic was a tough one, many went into hiding, others blocked their gifts the best they could. Non-magic users were invading other's homes, taking those born with the slightest hint of magic taking them into confinement. It was a bloody mess, and there weren't a place you couldn't go without fearing someone will figure out that you too were one of those who were gifted with something only the gods could understand.

Pushing forward through small crowds of people in the streets, Masaru was desperate for a strong drink. Witnessing a small family being taken against their will, and then watching the father lose his life for fighting back. It was easy for him to suppress any feel for his abilities, but sometimes when the time pressed against him, he would slip letting the energy peek through his self fortified shield. Why so serious? Shaking his head lightly, he would keep a less emotional expression on his face.

Relaxing his left hand on the hilt of his blade that held to his waist, his right shoved deep with in a pocket. His fingers would brush lightly over the coins the rested inside, each one cold to the touch. Glancing upwards to the left, the wooden swinging sign of the bar caught his attention. Pausing to look for activity coming his way, he would cross the street towards the noisy place. It was definitely a welcomed sight, a place where Masaru may possibly get the drink he was dying for.

Waiting for a couple to pass by him, the female seemed to stare at him for a moment too long. The man tugged at her sleeve, pulling her forward away from the enterance of the bar. Nodding slightly towards those who passed, he would pull his right hand from deep with in his pocket. Reaching for the handle of the door that led into a place of drunks, and gossip, the door swung open with some fierceness. Lightly turning on his heals, he would step back to the right of the opening door. A couple of older gentleman were laughing, each hanging on one another leaving the bar. Moving forward quickly, catching the door before it swung back onto the men, Masuru slid behind them into the opening to the bar.

Idiots Having dropped his left hand from the hilt of his blade, Masaru begun his way further into the dim lighting of the bar. The place was loud and somewhat crowded, the conversations full of gossip were already going at full speed. Dark hues scanned the bar for an open spot, but not the smartest of places to sit he thought. His boots help him glide towards a table near a small window, a chair sat on it's side, another pulled far from the table. Picking up the chair that laid on it's side, Masaru found himself sitting with his back against the wall. A habit he always had, one he would never forget.

As she bowed into the bottle her head quickly rose with the opening of the bar doors. She turned around to watch some fools leave into the celebrations outside, and in return came a man with a sword attached at this side. Her eyes narrowed, she could tell he was a magic user. She could see the aura around him and it made her laugh. ‘People really can’t see that huh?’ She pondered.

The alcohol started to flush her cheeks and she smiled. She left the side of the bar, beer bottle in tow. Avaron loosely made headway over to the corner the new comer had taken a seat in. Her busty figure pushed through the craziness; people were all over the place. Chairs clanked together as people stood to the end of another song. Just as soon as one song ended another began again with the sloshing of beer rose into the air.

She grunted darkly as someone pushed into her shoving her to the floor. “Good God!” Avaron yelled in a pissed tone. Bringing her knees to her chest she turned them to her floor and she sat up. She placed her hands flat into the filthy floor and pushed herself up. A hiss escaped her plump lips and she growled again, she hated these people. It was always only about themselves, hence why magic folk were being terrorized.

Avaron had made her way to a standing position and pushed through the last few idiots. Hands slammed on the table in front of him, the hair in her face swung. She leaned forward and took another swig from her beverage before she whispered to him “I know what you are, we share the same gift” She channeled her voice so only he could hear her.

The crowds were growing thick in the bar, beer was being handed out like it was going out of style. People bumped into one another, some would fall, others stumble into yet another patron of the bar. A waitress had bothered him once, already waved away with a motion of his hand. Gin would soon sit in front of him, as coins from his pocket would make the woman leave him. Staring down to the drink, he just smirked about the morons who sat in this place spreading the poison of their gossip.

Hands slammed down on to his table, making the liquid in the glass jump to the brim. Reaching out to take the glass by the base, Masaru's deep grey eyes moved from his drink to the woman who stood in front of him. She held a beer bottle in one hand, while her face flushed with the intoxication of the liquid.

“I know what you are, we share the same gift” Sitting up in his chair, he would bring the glass to his lips. Taking a sip of the gin, his eyes would move to he left where the crowd seemed to have grown. Setting the glass down, he would look at her once more the serious look on his face never changing.. a deep sound left his lips, soft and almost eerily soothing. "Is that so?"

With a swift motion she pulled the chair in front of her out and sat down. Her chest bound by bandages heaved up and down, She smiled “Yes, it is”

Avaron raised an eye brow as his features; he was a good looking fellow. She grinned slyly and grabbed his glass “What is this anyway?” She brought the glass under her nose letting it fill her nostrils. “Mm Gin, nice choice.” Placing the glass down and sliding it back to his hand she would stand.

“Let’s go” With two words she stood, and pushed through the crowd. Frankly she couldn’t believe that this entire place was so happy to see magic-folk taken into custody. Exiting the door of the bar she brought her thumb and her middle finger together and whistled.

KoKo, a large white tiger came out of the ally next to the bar. Avaron smiled and looked to her companion. Avarons hands reached down to pet the muzzle of the beast. She loved her friend. She sat agents the wall of the bar and looked to the door wondering if the man would follow her.

Masaru just watched as the woman pulled herself a seat, snatched his drink taking in the scent. Sending the glass back to his hand, he would lift it from the table swallowing all that remained in the glass. Watching the woman stand up once more, words being spoken to him. “Let’s go” Without a conscious thought his left hand was resting lightly on the hilt of his blade, while he watched the woman walk out of the bar.

Staring at the door that closed behind her, Masaru thought hard about her demand of him following. Lets go.. huh.. A smirk just flashed over his features for a moment, as a slight amount of laughter wanted to leave him. Shaking his head lightly, he would rise from his chair in one swift movement. His eyes would move over the drunken happy crowd of commoners, before he would leave the building. Without touching one or bumping into one of the patrons, Masaru made a smooth exit from the building. Stepping to the left of the door out of the way of new comers, and those who were leaving to sleep off their drunken stupor.

What reason would this woman want me to follow her? Does she wish to eliminate me.. or question me about things I wish not to discuss? Waiting near the door of the bar for a moment longer, he would step off into the busy walk way of the street before him. Pausing he could feel the woman's aura, it was definitely easy to pin point. Her intoxication would make her lose some of her inhibitions while she cloaked her own gift. Dare he walk to her, give the woman the satisfaction of him following her barked orders? Shrugging off his thoughts, Masaru made his way to the bound woman, and her familiar.

Placing her right hand on the ground, she pulled her knees up and with a heave of her chest she shifted to a standing position. When Avaron dusted her back side off KoKo would move in front of her in a defensive manner. The man from the bar had walked over to her and he sighed.

“We need to find a place to talk. This place is dangerous for us. I am sure they have Magic-Users working for them, to help catch people like us.”

Avarons hands moved to scratched KoKo’s ears, her body leaning over slightly. She wanted to talk to him privately. However he was a stranger and she just pulled him from a bar. A single hand came to her face and she laughed in a realizing manner “Oh I didn’t introduce myself. I’m Avaron, and my little friend here is KoKo.” By little she meant huge, KoKo was after all a six-hundred pound beast. This white tiger was hers and helped to keep her company.

Leaning back against the wall of the building she would shake her head lightly to push the stray hairs away. The heel of her shoe would lift and she pressed a leg against the wall, arms folded. Avaron closed her eyes for a brief moment, she would just as quickly open them and she spoke “I kind of feel the need to help these people. No idea why, I am normally not the type.” Avaron chuckled.

KoKo trotted to her side and sat, her head ruffling the Hakema pants she was wearing. Avaron dropped a hand to rest on her friends head.

Masru's eyes followed the tiger as it put itself between him and the woman. Raising a brow, he just looked back to her. "If you have any suggestions to where we can speak privately, then do share. " Leaving his hand rested on the hilt of his blade, he just stared at her. What was he getting himself into, her words stuck to him like glue. Should he really get involved with someone like her, help the poor civilians?

He was one for justice, and for some reason he was drawn to the implied purpose of the Avaron. "I am Masaru.." Glancing back at the busy street, a cart is stopped quickly to the interruption of children running out in front. He could feel things in others like himself, and he knew some were openly displaying their auras. Masaru worked to keep himself undetectable, but there was always that one nosey person who had to point something out to him.

Bringing his eyes to the woman, he would turn lightly on the heels of his boots. He would begin his trip down the street, hoping maybe the woman would follow. It wasn't good to stay in one spot for too long, it always caught some peoples attention.

Marasu would speak and a hand clenched her chin in thought. “Mmm? I don’t know I don’t live around here, so I don’t know the area very well.” She nodded with a quirked eye brow. As he introduced himself Avaron would instantly smile and out stretch her hand. “Tis good to meet you!” Her voice was unusually bubbly.

Avaron noticed his attention flex from her and she too turned her attention. The children playing carelessly about the streets, she could see there aura dance around them like fire. Only a portion of these said children possessed the power of magic. This place had plenty of issues and she wondered if she and this man would be the ones to save them.

Chasing after him KoKo would follow and purr as her feet padded beside Avaron. KoKo’s slinky body swayed from side to side as she followed her master. Avaron walked beside Marasu’s side wondering if he would speak. “Where are we headed?” Her voice spoke in a hushed tone.

His parents were taken by bad people. He heard his dad fighting the bad people. Why would they do this? His mom and dad were good people. He hid under his bed, where dad told him to. He was terrified. His mind went through a million different ways that the bad people were gonna kill him. It took all of his focus to keep quiet. he wanted to scream and cry, then he heard it. He heard his dad scream and die. He heard his mom wailing outside as she was dragged away. His world crashed down around him. He cried silently as the bad people searched his house. They looked under the bed where he was hiding and he knew the end was upon him. They didn't see him. He was bewildered, and relieved. Eventually the bad people left. His dad told him once that bad people might try and take him away, but never why. All he knew was that his dad was a good guy, the best guy, and now he was gone forever. He also realized that he had to leave, now.

He climbed out of a window and did his best to contain his tears, and then he saw them. Two people who were shiny just like his mom and dad. Shiny people had to be good. That's how he knew his mom and dad were good guys. They were shiny. Everyone else must be a bad guy, or at least not a good guy. He watched them walk away with a great big tiger and followed quietly behind, his fears slowly washing away as the good guys walked ahead of him with a big tiger. When they came to a stop he walked up to the tiger lady, fresh tears just drying on his face, and tentatively poked her in the leg.

"Hi tiger lady. I'm Timmy. Daddy said that if something happened to him to find a good guy to help me. You glow like a good guy." He looked down at the ground unsure of himself.

Masaru continued forward, the woman's words reaching him. Pausing for a moment, he glanced back. "I intend on taking us somewhere more private.." His eyes would dart between her and the tiger, but it wouldn't be long before a young boy found his way to them. The words that left the boys lips were enough to trigger those who payed attention to their surroundings, it was a sure way to get them in to some deep shit.

Spinning lightly on the heels of his boots, he would scoop the boy up into his arms, pressing his left hand over the boys mouth. "Shh, boy.." His words were whispered into the boys ear, as he carried him forward with a quickness in his step. It was up to Avaron to follow, and stay close. Anyone could have heard what the boy said, someone could report them as potential magic users. It wasn't a risk that could be taken right now, it was dangerous.

Dashing to the left into a dingy alleyway Masaru, sat the boy down beside him. Keeping a tight grip on his forearm, he would look to see if anyone may have followed. "I don't know if it's worth the risk, but whatever plans you have for saving the damned.. they better be worth the risk of us being caught ourselves. " Anger boiled under his words.

    [Enter: ST (Grace) ]

She awoke with a start as her small eyelids fluttered open in a panic. Had she somehow managed to fall asleep after everything? How could that be?

Thinking back, she recalled a horrid nightmare – an experience in which she imagined many times and always feared would come true – where her Mommy and Daddy had been snatched up by evil monsters in the night and Mommy had pushed her underneath her bed to hide. What a terrible dream that was, a terrible—

Dream…? Blinking the sleep from her eyes, Grace looked to either side of her and spotted something familiar but certainly out of place for a little girl who was supposed to be in her bed: wooden floors. A little confused, she stretched her short arms out in front of her and used the palms of her hands to pull herself out from under the bed to the point where she could stand. Once on her feet, she began looking around her bedroom for the one thing that could bring her comfort after a scary dream; her teddy.

It didn’t take long to catch a glimpse of Fuzzy, the little brown bear that Mommy and Daddy tucked her in with every night – he was strangely lying face down on the floor by her closet.

How did he get all the way over there?

After she gathered Fuzzy, Grace decided it was time to find Mommy and Daddy, and ask to sleep with them for the rest of night since her nightmare had her little heart racing. But the hallway to their bedroom was dark and she was scared to make the journey alone. Standing at the doorway to her bedroom, she called out for Mommy and Daddy… but there was no answer.

Keeping close to the wall to avoid any monsters that may or may not be straying around this time of night, Grace made it about halfway down the hallway before she discovered why the hall had been so dark: the lamp that usually sat on a table midway through the length of the hall was laying toppled over and broken on the floor. Grace wasn’t in a sleepy haze anymore…

So much for it being a dream. Mommy and Daddy had been stolen by the monsters that hunted the people for their special light; just like they had warned Grace about before. This time it hadn’t been a nightmare, and now she had to go outside like a brave little girl – just like Mommy and Daddy had explained to her many times if anything like this should ever happen – and find someone else who had the special light glow like she did.

It was hard, but Grace managed the dark and scary route downstairs from the bedrooms, down to the door, and outside. She wasn’t quite sure where to begin, so she just started walking and held fast to Fuzzy. If all else failed, Fuzzy would protect her – and maybe even know the way she needed to go. Squeezing the bear’s soft foot that she grasped in hand, she allowed the stuffed animal to dangle upside down as she began walking. She knew that she needed to stay out of sight from the monsters, but which ones were monsters and which ones weren’t? Mommy and Daddy even told her that some of the people with the special glow light were monsters, too.

When pale lavender eyes set upon two people; a man and a woman, walking a little bit from down the way, Grace approached them, and when she noticed their special light, she stopped. Holding Fuzzy out in their direction like a weapon, Grace pointed the bear accusingly at the pair and readied to launch her attack teddy at them should they turn out to be monsters. With her free hand, she pulled and tugged nervously at the middle of her white cloth nightgown.

“You both have the pretty light,” she addressed them, but narrowed her eyes at them in suspicion as she asked “But are you monsters?”

    If so, Fuzzy was ready.

Her footsteps continue. Avaron’s hands lifted and tucked into her pockets. The streets where dark and yet you could still see people move from the black top into their homes. She suppressed her aura, because she could feel the magic that came from the enemy’s minions. They had done so much, taking loved ones from their homes, concealing the magic that flowed inside of children. It was all so strange to Avaron. Magic wasn’t the issue here, magic wasn’t causing this evil, and the ones who used it were.

Koko trotted beside Avaron and lifted her head, nudging the side of her companion. Navy blur hues soon found their way down and onto the large white tiger. Koko was a magnificent beast, and worked well to scare off enemies. When they traveled this large cat would keep her warm and help her find food for their bellies, Avaron was lucky to have such a friend beside her. She removed her right hand from the pocket of her pant leg and stroked the back of Koko’s head.

Her question still stood, ‘Where were they going?’ Avaron pondered.

Soon a little girl had found them and she looked down to her. She was sweet and looked scared, her teddy seemed to be what she used at protection and Avaron chuckled. “Us bad people? No, we won’t hurt you.” Her opposing hand left her lifted and she placed it on the girls head. She could see the fear that rang in her mind and the trembling of her nerves. Avaron sighed and knelt down; She smiled to the young girl. “We are going to find a place to hide out for a bit. Would like to join us? We will protect you.” Her voice was soft and reassuring.

Masaru watched the others in the dark, as they walked. A young child had came out of no where, pointing her teddy out in front of her. Stopping in their tracks, Avaron turned to the girl to answer the questions that were shot out at them. Leaving his hands to rest at his sides, he could feel the aura coming off of the girl. Her mention of their pretty lights meant she could see their magic driven auras.

"We must continue on, I have a place where I have been staying we can go to.." his eyes moved from the girl to Avaron. A smile graced his hard face, as he looked to the innocent child. Of course Avaron offered to protect the girl, though he had to admit they couldn't leave the child alone on the street. It wouldn't be long till the "monsters" came to take her away, much like her parents before.

Walking up to the child, he knelt down offering the girl his hand. Whether or not she chose to take it, he would scoop her up to place her on his shoulders for the stroll.

Fuzzy remained on guard in the little girl’s extended hand; the bear didn’t look very vicious – what with his big black eyes and his unassuming smile, topped off with his small, curious nose – but he was ready! Grace continued to tug at the bottoms of her nightgown while she held Fuzzy out. The two people with the pretty light like hers said they weren’t monsters, but Mommy and Daddy had taught her about liars.

“Are you lying to me?” She interrogated, tilting her head to the side a tad and sticking Fuzzy out further at them. But when the woman’s hand came to rest atop her head, Grace let loose a sigh of relief that she didn’t even know she’d been holding in. Then the woman asked Grace if she would like to go with them. Well, going with these two was probably a better idea than just her and Fuzzy wandering around alone. Besides, maybe these people could help her find Mommy and Daddy.

“Okay,” she began quietly, slowly lowering Fuzzy to her side and curling a couple of fingertips into the fabric of her white nightgown. “Me and Fuzzy will come with you.” When the man offered her his hand, she released her pajamas and entwined her hand within his. Without notice, she was scooped up and placed on the man’s shoulders for their journey. With her legs dangling over his shoulders, she held fast to Fuzzy in one arm and placed the other palm on the man’s forehead as a form of leverage or balance.

“Will you both help me find Mommy and Daddy?”
