Elemental Theory: Swordcraft [Obselete]

Preparations

Nion had just finished attending the first week of lectures and he of course had an assignment to complete.

He decided to start on his Elemental Theory assignment. He had always wanted to wield a sword, but could never find one or didn't have the funds to, so he would venture out to the Painted Forest, hunt Elemental Dragonflies and mine for Aquatanium so that he could craft an Aquablade. He hurried to his room and gathered his materials: his spellbook, a Manastone, and a rod he borrowed from the class. The rod would have to be returned after his mission was complete.

Afterwards, he quickly headed out of the door and sprinted out the gate, making his way to the Painted Forest.

Painted Forest

After reaching the entrance, he shook nervously as the light entering the forest began to dim, due to the lush abundance of plant life and trees. The only light he could make out was a dim blue light, emanating from a Sapphire Elemental Dragonfly, the one he was looking for. What luck!

He quickly chased after it, dodging vines and twigs that hindered his path. He waved his rod towards the Elemental Dragonfly and summoned a ball of water that headed towards it, but it narrowly evaded his spell. He kept his pace, not letting the butterfly get out of his sight.

After chasing after it for what seemed like an eternity, Nion stumbled and fell into a deep hole that led into a darkly lit chasm, dimly lit by a group of Elemental Butterflies. He rushed to catch one, but fell forward as the Elemental Butterfly shifted backwards. His attempt was suddenly interrupted when a group of three battle blobs appeared. Nion was poised and ready as the blobs shifted to form Necrotic Wasps. He quickly sent three blasts of water at the wasps. The first blast wasn't even close to its target, the second pelted its target sending it crashing to the ground, and the third blast skimmed past its target.

The wasps closed in and tried to strike Nion, he dodged the first one and slammed his rod into the wasps, splattering it against the ground. The second one swooped behind him, and dove but Nion narrowly dodged its attack, feeling the dark necrotic energy that emanated from its stinger. The third one went for his side, but its attack missed as well as Nion leapt backwards, poising himself for another attack.

Nion briefly closed his eyes as the wasps closed in again. His Manaflow increased as his eyes glowed a medium turquoise blue. He waved his wand as two bursts of water erupted from the ground beneath the wasps, crushing them. After he dealt with his foe, he was off to find the Sapphire Elemental Butterfly. He was alarmed when he turned around and saw the one he was chasing after, remove its wings and place them within his palm.

"Young magi, you showed bravery when facing that foe. If not for you, those monsters would've surely destroyed our home. This is my gift to you." He clasped his open hand, stuffing the wings inside his satchel.

The butterflies flew in a circle around him, creating a stream of energy that teleported him back to campus. The first part of his mission had been completed. Although, he thought he would have to hunt them, he was grateful that they bequeathed him their wings.

Metalworks
The next day...

Nion had contemplated searching for his own metal, but he didn't have a pickaxe or any other tool to mine it. So he headed to the supply shop and gave the smith 15 coins so that he could get some iron. After having the iron wrapped up in a cloth, Nion rushed to his Elemental Theory class, unfortunately the teacher wasn't there. The only place left for him to go was to the Workshop.

He had melted the iron pieces into the shape of a dagger and placed the wings within the mold. After it cooled, the dagger glowed with a blue aura as Nion gripped it in his hands. It wasn't a true sword, but it was a weapon that he could use. He closed his eyes as the dagger dissipated into dust and flowed towards the classroom. Weapons that were existent outside of class, dissipated into dust and returned to the user once they left the gates of the Academy.

He had learned the Aqua Burst technique and crafted the Ice Dagger. He opened his eyes and smiled. He still hadn't conquered the Stabile Wasserblaise, but he threw his satchel across his back and headed to the harbor, ready to practice his craft once again.
