    Birth Name: Xieronis Viatre
    Legal Name: Xieronis Viatre
    Nickname: Xie, Xero
    Alias: Azoth's Vial
    Personality:
The Alchemist's personality is nothing short of uniform. She prefers to sit in silence and remain in the company of only herself and her mentor(s). When addressed by people she expects a semblance of the normal amount of respect one would give; Greeting, Introduction, and at least tasteful conversation. She prefers the confines of her study over social gathering, but for the sake of courtesy, she will attend parties or meetings in a punctual manner; arriving early and leaving as early as possible. She has no personal preference for the ideal friend. Having been home-schooled and sheltered most of her childhood life, she never knew of the fun that could come from companionship. Adding to that, she also cannot fathom the idea of romantic relationships. She's seen many acquaintances and specimens with such ideals and seeing their inevitable heart-break actual saddens her. It is almost as if she is afraid to love because of her outside observations, preferring to only invest emotion in the inanimate.

Artephius - Named after one of the most influential names in Alchemy, the familiar to Azoth's Vial is in fact the incarnation of an attempt to summon the philosopher's stone. An err in the equation, however, did not create the stone in question but a Homonculi, of which took on a more suitable appearance for the outside world. A lanky figure with muscular upper-body, Artephius lends not just the infinite wisdom but also the strength of such overpowering knowledge. A' many great minds are aligned within this Homonculi, and often it may seem as if those of the past can speak through the body, creating a bit of confusion at times. His eyes glower with a crimson color, moreso orange-like in tint to represent the saffronic and ruby colors present in the different forms of the famed stone. He fights using both alchemy and a specific summoning technique that utilizes shadow, representing Nigredo. Being a well of knowledge, Artephius provides answers; if not at least hints to answers regarding anything Xieronis may have questions about. Normally, a vow of silence is taken when it comes to questions about the philosophy, but Artephius himself considers the alchemist to be his only vice.

The original concept of the Magnum Opus followed a four-step process, each named and famed dependant on their role in the creation of the Philosopher's Stone. Upon Mastering the art, Xieronis took a different approach towards the Magnum Opus. Rather than consider each portion a step in the process, she applied the process to each category individually. Divying up the four-step process into four different mentalities. The famed four are named as follows: Nigredo, Albedo, Citrinitas, and Rubedo. Looking at them in this seperated light gives way for a whole new perspective upon alchemy, using already pre-ordained notions and philosophy to broaden the horizon of the Alchemical circuitry.

Nigredo, or blackness, is a term used in alchemy that refers to the putrefaction or decomposition of material/matter. The alchemists of old believed it to be the first step in creating the philosopher's stone because of the materials needing to be cleansed and cooked properly/extensively to a "uniform black matter." In the analytical portion of alchemy, it was a metaphor for the "darkness of one's soul." It was believed that when confronting one's Nigredo (darkness,) it would give way to the albedo, from "the ever deepening descent into the unconscious" which would then suddenly become "illumination from above." Following the Twelve Gates, a parchment that was a magnum opus in itself, the gates were divided amongst their proper parts and Nigredo received the following: Dissolution, Putrefaction and Fermentation.

Dissolution, the destruction of matter by a manner similar to disruption, division, or dispersion. The ultimate lesson of Nigredo is that you cannot rid yourself of darkness by willing it away. It is a manner of acceptance, of embracing your fault and corruption, and then experiencing the epiphany that will lead you to salvation. Figuring out your place and your ultimate goal, but first wading through the infinite darkness. Dissolution is the most basic lesson that comes from Nigredo: Seperation. Learning and sifting through the cracks to differentiate the parts that make us who we are as beings. The reasoning for the name of this power came from the ability it entails: The physical, and mental, ability to split and seperate matter and thought. By placing the symbol ≼ ≽ upon an object with which needs to be physically seperated, the two runes will retract away from eachother and each force will push against itself to split. The rune ≺ ≻ symbolizes the seperation of the mind, and when placed upon a living creature it can be used to embrace their thoughts, and at times even remove them or alter them. The use for dissolution aside from that is the ability to siphon; to drain and remove.

The basis used for Putrefaction was that the term in itself represents the decaying of matter, or the process from which it breaks down to it's most natural state. Having all things made of matter, of life and of essence, Nigredo contains the ability to decay and corrupt. Once brilliant flora could decay to a charred ash, but though this idealogy is sinister and foreboding, one must remember that from life always comes death, and from death comes life. The conventional use of Putrefaction for Xieronis is to destroy obstacles, wither poisonous flora, inflict gangrene, or any other practical uses that could be thought of at the time. The symbol for Putrefaction is ʕ, symbolizing the decline of a life in final throes.

Fermentation, by definition, is nearly synonymous with Putrefaction, but in this instance it follows the cycle of life with much more optimism. The definition of Fermentation is that a substance would divy up into simpler portions without the use of oxygen. This follows the 'breaking down' or 'decaying' function of it's kin, but the result coming forth from this is the production of energy. The resulting energy is then manipulated and forced back out. For example, a man no higher than seven feet stands blocking her path. He carries a mace, and using it for it's intended purpose, swings it at her. Upon contact with the symbolic rune of Fermentation ( ↺, ) the mace head would appear to decay. The male would obviously be surprised, but no more so than her hand, which would recoil from the contact. Being brought back up towards him in a rotation, she would then be able to reproduce the amount of pressure exerted into the initial swing, and quite possibly be able to recreate the weapon's head upon contact (in this case, it would effectively impale him at contact.)

Albedo is the second category in the Alchemical index. Albedo is a latin term meaning "whiteness" or the representation of purity. The process that albedo poses in the magnum opus comes immediately after Nigredo, and the process itself is reminiscent of ablution: Washing away the impurity via aqua vitae (the "water of life," simply known today as ethanol.) The realization of corruption via Nigredo is the polar opposite of Albedo, and now one experiences that the Albedo brings upon a sense of self. The anima and animus (male and female respectively) are brought into play with Albedo, becoming equated. It is the phase where shadow projection, and the perceiving of illusion, becomes realized; Look outside of the box that Nigredo once put you in, and the epiphany you shall come to receive is one that throws off the robes of the inflated ego.

The symbol: ∞, is representative of the power called Cibation. The actual term Cibation represents the process of feeding the contents of the crucible with fresh material. In essence, this process provides sustenance to an Alchemist's mixture, subbing in chemicals and catalysts at an even level and current. The power of Cibation was named such because it is the reverse of Dissolution. Rather than siphon out from a being, it provides life and energy. A purely divine meaning behind this, it is Xieronis' way of being charitable. Healing others through her own life force and abilities.

The second of Albedo's definitions is Seperation, or the symbol ∥, that is the most strict of divisions. Being able to completely remove impurity, poison, corruption from one's person as well as separate away the pure, the innocence, and the enlightened. This can prove to be both negative and positive though, for as it can remove impurities and heal a victim, it can also transform their mind, their morals, or their goals. As easily as it could make an angel, it could produce a demon within the heart. When creating her process, Xieronis found this to be the most difficult to ponder. Being able to change the being of a person so (what she considers) simplistically, made her find the human psyche to be way too fragile for her liking.

The final portion of Albedo is Sublimation, following the symbol ♈. The term Sublimation represents the process of changing from a solid to a gas without passing through an intermediate liquid phase. The form of Sublimation, or rather the reason for it's use in Xieronis' abilities, is the ascendance from the physical. Releasing properties to a separate realm or phase for the sake of multiple things, for example, separating a spirit from the body to allow it to move on. Another example would be switching an object's property to a gas, and then siphoning the property into either herself, a vial, or the like. Though this example is a bit more convenient, it is mostly used for the spiritual purpose.

Citrinitas is the third step in the process, and is considered a representation of the "light in one's soul." Favoring the more convenient, if not helpful portions of alchemy, Xieronis uses this process as a way to fortify herself and others. Being able to do such things as strengthen the body and the mind, the yellow of the consciousness frees from the floodgates of the darkness in Nigredo, and the shining purity of Albedo to ascend to the sun-colored transition towards the all-famed Rubedo, which contains the colors of warmth. Symbolically, Citrinitas represents the wiseness, the contents of our soul through experience and nature.

Calcination is the Alchemic sub-discipline to manipulate size and density. It is different from Creation; the total mass and the composition of an object influenced by calcination never changes. It is used to purify and manipulate alchemical components - its most creative function involves the creation of materials that dissolve smoothly into a tincture over time, allowing an even distribution of material over time. Additionally, calcination has been used as a healing art in the elderly, restoring deteriorated bones into working condition. The symbol for calcination is ⊕, and the symbol will trace itself upon the victim/person's skin until the effects wear-off. The effects of this skill are not permanent, and they must be reapplied over time for longer-lasting effect.

Coagulation is the Alchemic sub-discipline related to manipulating the body, changing its composition to augment physical ability. Nails can be sharpened to blade-like edges, skin into armor comparable to steel, and bones into unbreaking pillars. However, coagulation requires an immense knowledge into the workings of the body as one can inadvertently poison themselves or others while using this power - their bodies unable to support the changes they have bestowed upon themselves. The symbol for Coagulation is the Symbol named "The Rod of Asclepius." It is most famously known as the representative symbol for many medical organizations, symbolizing medicine and healing.

Multiplication is the second of the skill present in Citrinitas, represented by the symbol ♋. It is a Alchemic sub-discipline of multiplying objects, both living and non-living. Inanimate objects can be replicated to the very detail with Multiplication; however, to create a non-living object, one must have the materials to create it. If one were to multiply a wooden chair, the caster must have the wood and the metal that was used to craft it. Additionally, the multiplication of a living object will not produce a physical tangible object but an illusion - it is impossible to recreate the complexities and the sentience needed to produce a living object through multiplication. However, the only component to use such an illusion is the light in the very air.

Opera Magna - The latin term meaning "great work." This noted item is, in fact, a journal considered to be the most priceless parchment in the Alchemy circuit to date. Having been written with the help of Artephius, the Opera Magna contains all of the parchments, scripture, and the like for conducting transmutations and figuring alchemical equation. This book is double-sided, meaning that reading from right to left provides a different aspect than the left to right; The pages were printed by Xieronis in a manner that the front section (left) provides the portions of Nigredo and Albedo, whilst the back section (right) contains the runes that one would use for transmutation circles and the hieroglyphs for Citrinitas. At the center where the pages meet becomes the scion of the entire book, Rubedo, from which lies the pages of exaltation: The ability to summon creatures not of this world.

You will touch with your hands, you will see with your own eyes; the Azoth, the Mercury of Philosophers, which alone will suffice to obtain our Stone.
Darkness will appear on the face of the Abyss; Night, Saturn and the Antimony of the Sages will appear; blackness, and the raven's head of the alchemists, and all the colors of the world, will appear at the hour of conjunction.
