Character Biography:
Once, he was a boy. Distant, always dreaming of glory, and honor in battle...but he had work to do, and two sisters to take care of. Rallen Perisent led a life of duty, to help his town. He got strong, he got tall...perhaps it had something to do with his forbidden heritage that they kept secret. They grew up in the church his parents built, learning scripture and the like. He did work around the town, lifting and tilling...all for some coin. He was diligent in his work. And he eventually joined the town guard.
Working his way up, he found himself second-in-command. Brave, valorous...and great with a blade, or even a bow. He knew how to lead. And the Captain of the guard was proud to have the man by his side. Rallen stayed by his side until the dragons attacked the town, and the Captain was incinerated. That was when he gave his first order. "Get everyone to the Church. We'll make our stand there." Rallen himself barred the doors. And pulled the few remaining members of the militia together. "We can face Death now...knowing that we've done a mighty thing today." And they charged.
A few days later, on the shores of Genesaris, a broken, burned man washed up. There were technomancers in town, medics, steelworkers...this man had become a sensation. He was clinging to life, when any normal man would've died long ago. He was repaired, limbs replaced, organs augmented and supplemented...and a suit of armor, made to accommodate him. To protect him. A sword and shield, to fight. This was a soldier, sent from Heaven itself to purge the land. Or so the gossip said. And when it was all done...it was hard to tell where the man began and the machine ended. He was a masterpiece. A Templar. And it wasn't long until Captain Lumiere set out to find the others of his kind, to officially fight for peace.
Eventually, he found himself on Terrenus, in Patia. Knights, like him. Equally devoted to ridding the land of the chaos that pervaded it. Training, fighting...with them, his abilities flourished. Following the Blood Oath and the Blood Code, Rallen moved up the ranks, eventually making it to a Subcommander within the Knights of the Bloody Seer. And as he advanced, so did his armor. Working with different mages and engineers, it became a part of him - flowing with his own lifeblood. It's his gift for devoting himself, as he sees it. Officially classified in the Roanist Order, he's become exceptionally formidable - a testament to the strength of his peers, and the Goddess he serves. He has his goal in mind - to bring peace and justice to the land, so that nobody had to watch their backs, or worry about anything other than their day-to-day lives.
He's doing it for his sisters, who he'll never see again...
Abilities and Weapons:
He's in a bloody huge suit of armor - what more do you want? Sword, shield, etc. etc. It's thick enough to block arrows, blades, axes...even resistant against hammers. His back has extra armor, to protect him when he can't turn around. He's a tad slower than your average seasoned warrior, but he's still a terror on the battlefield, and excellent with a blade. And the one other weapon he's carrying is a large repeating crossbow - with many sets of clips built into the giant metal pack on his back.
The reason for his speed is the fact that his movements are fluid - delving beyond normal machinery. At the same time, he's warded against mental or magical forces with his armor and shield, and his sword physically cuts through streams of magic itself. His crossbow bolts have the same effect, and are enchanted with explosive runes that detonate upon impact. His eyes have been enhanced with True Seeing, meaning that illusions won't work on him. His field of vision, in any situation, is better than your average person. He even has good sight in pure darkness.
The only other thing to mention is his willpower. Against all odds, against any foe, he keeps his head in line. He's always determined in his mission, and to keep his ideals, meaning Rallen will protect his men. However...on the rare occasion, he's known to show feats of strength that he shouldn't be capable of. Feats of agility which shouldn't even be plausible, in his case. A second wind, when he's down. Captain Lumiere will not die without a fight - and he's devoted until the end.
Specifics:
Technique - Rallen fights with the Sword-and-Board style, meaning he uses a shield. However, it's not a particularly large one...more or less a square buckler, at his size. It's good for blocking things when he needs to, and leaves him with enough room to use his sword with both hands. He switches styles to confuse opponents, but presses in strong when he gets the opportunity. For that matter, he's just as good when he's unarmed - as unlikely as it seems, the large man is skilled martially too. Though don't expect anything fancy...just fists and kicks. And, if required, he will stay at a range and pick opponents off with his crossbow. With deadly precision.
Equipment - His sword is the equivalent of a claymore for his size, giving it a 58"x8" blade. The first foot of the blade is nearly hollow, however - for part of is able to detach with a twisting motion, revealing a large dagger inside with a blade designed perfectly to fit the gap. The blade is about 18"x1.5". His crossbow is a repeating one, and takes a moment to reload a clip. However, it's pretty big, and will only be used or taken along with him if he really needs to stay at a range. Both the sword and the crossbow bolts have capabilities for piercing magical barriers, or even spells in general. In addition, the bolts he uses will explode upon impact, due to the runes on the shaft. The knife is enchanted differently - it's only designed to pierce the hardest of materials like they're butter, with no regard to magic.
Armor - With exceptionally-thick steel plate, there's not much which would penetrate it without hammering away all day. Inside is the machinery, imported from parts of Genesaris and Terrenus, which allows him to move the legs and arms as if they were his own(and, technically, since his blood flows through them, they are). Additionally built inside are the enchantments which increase his speed, lighten the load of the armor on him, or silence his steps. Then there's the complex breathing apparatus around his chest, neck, and mouth, which allow him to take in air normally. Additionally enhanced, it now filters air from just about anything. Which renders him immune to poisonous gases for a while, or allows him to breathe underwater. On the outside of the armor are the other enchantments, which deflect magic and psionics. His shield is additionally enchanted, and allows for direct deflection. It's built to just attach directly to his arm, or to the box on the back. The large metal box on his back also has protective wards around it, separate from the armor, to ensure the contents don't get attacked and set off. It also has a slot through the middle, where his sword goes in. The leather sheathe extends or retracts automatically.
Attitude - Rallen is ever a gentleman, and tends to be polite. He's got a cool head about things, even in the midst of battle. Thinking things through is his specialty - and he's good with battle formations. It's why he rose so quickly within the ranks. He has the commander attitude as well, giving orders sharply, but not in a strict way. He has respect from his men, because he gets to know them personally...strengths and weaknesses, for ultimate utilization in times of battle. He has an intense devotion to his superiors, but also strives to be as great as them. A very progressive person - this is all he has to live for now, after all.
Training - He's trained with just about every piece of equipment that there is in the knighthood. Halberds, spears, staves, glaives, axes, hammers, maces, morningstars...even some of the more exotic things, like spiked chains or double-bladed staves. And has an expansive knowledge of military technique.
Weaknesses - If anything, his physical body itself is a weakness. Get through all the enchantments and plating and such, and he's very frail. Also, if there's any place to aim, go for the head. Good luck getting there, though. Finally, he's quick, but a tad sluggish - his combat abilities and armor make up for it, though.
