    Quick User Guide

What is the Valucre Walkthrough and where can I read it?

The Valucre Walkthrough is a walkthrough that I spent a little while writing and which is in constant development and refinement, meant to deliver as much information about the site's inner mechanics, canon, policies and tips on how to make a more memorable and lasting roleplay experience.

You can read the Walkthrough by clicking anywhere in this sentence. Please note the Walkthrough is comprehensive and not designed to be read all at once.

    What is PosRep?

Reputation is our forum software's version of the "karma" system, allowing you to give positive or negative reputation to a person for a post. This can be IC or OOC, is not representative of a person's writing ability, and as posrep or negrep affect absolutely nothing but the amount of green or red bars under your name, the administration could care less about the kind of comments or the amount of reputation you get short of anything but harassment. The more rep you get, the more rep you can give.

    What is the Settings page?

The settings page is in essence your one-stop shop for things revolving around you on the site. Clicking on settings allows you to view your reputation points and comments, your new messages and any new posts made to your subscribed threads. The top of the settings page, underneath the main navbar, provides you with your referral link. Getting people to register through your referral link lists you as their referrer.

This is on top of allowing you to access your General Settings and your Friends/Ignore list.

What are Experience Points and how do I get them?

Experience Points are points that you get for posting in IC places. Areas like the Free Chat, the Profile Database and even the Universal Colosseum will increment your post count but will not affect your experience points.

4 points for every post made. 4 points for every thread made (8 points since making a thread contains a post). 1 point for every post made in a thread that you made. You can also donate money to the site for ValBullion/Experience Points. Click the Spoiler button below to see how much you get for what amount of donation.

    Spoiler:
    $5 = 500 VB
    $10 = 1250 VB
    $15 = 2000 VB
    $20 = 3000 VB
    $50 = 7500 VB

You can use experience points in one of two ways. OOC by clicking on the Market tab on the site's main navbar, allowing you to change your username or give it a color or glow or doing the same for your user title as well as buying an avatar and signature set. Or IC, in the form of "ValBullion", which we consider an alternative IC currency to copper/silver/gold, and you can use it to buy/sell services, items, weapons, artifacts, etc.

You can read more about ValBullion and Experience Points by clicking anywhere in this sentence.

What are the Market and the Market Place?

The Market is a Modification that you can navigate to using the main navigation bar by clicking on the Market tab. This Market allows you to do things like change your user title, username, add a color or special effect to either one, as well as purchasing a sub-board on the Valucre site through the Create a World function. Different levels of exposure correspond to different levels of price.

The Market Place is a sub-board in the Roleplay Related section. The Market Place is a players' market, and has impacts that are much more IC-centric. Here you can buy artifacts, weaponry, and spells as well as barter in information, purchase weapons material through black markets, sell your own services and even purchase avatar and signature graphic sets.

    What is the Style Selector?

The style selector is a drop-down menu option that one can find at the bottom left of the forum interface. This allows you to cycle through any number of available styles/skins for the forum.

What is the Lore and where can I find it?

The lore is an area's canon, the status quo of things. There is a canonization process in place. This is so that everyone can, in effect, do whatever they want but the only people that can change the world's canon are those that put in serious writing effort.

You can find the Lore in the main navigation bar at the top of the forum. Clicking on the lore gives you a drop-down list that allows you to locate which land in specific you want to learn about. The Lore is the most comprehensive guide to any specific location listed there, but there are special circumstances where the Lore is used mostly as a general guide and much more comprehensive information can be found in a location's specific sub-board.

The best example of this is Tia, found in Terrenus. Tia's lore article is informative enough, following the same model that rest of the towns in Terrenus do, to provide the user with qualitative information at a glance. But as Tia's sub-board had their own custodian, someone assigned to the area with invested interest in its development, there is also quite a bit more information to be found in the Tia sub-board. This is not true for all areas and is not the standard.
