Skills and abilities;
Powers (if applicable): Nyvaei is a water elemental, and very skilled at using ice as a weapon. She also has healing magic, a gift she was born with, and being both part elf and part pixie, she finds it easy to communicate with animals, sometimes even easier than communicating with people. Because she is half-pixie, she can shift her size. But only between various pixie height and her normal height, much to her malcontent, she cannot grow any taller. She channels her magic very well, and masters spells quickly. Her magic is non-verbal; she bends it to her will using thought as opposed to words of power.
Immunities: She finds herself comfortable in weather conditions most would be hindered in, or in some cases, even perish, snow, rain, storms etc. She is rarely the victim of sickness. Because she is a water elemental, she can never drown.
Weaknesses: Because of her fair hair and pale complexion, Nyvaei’s skin burns very easily when exposed to the sun. She can’t stand high temperatures. Room temperature is fine, but she’d rather sleep under snow than next to a fire
Strengths/talents: She is very light on her feet, being both swift and silent of foot, as well as flexible, agile and incredibly strong for her size. Her reflexes are fast. Very fast. She has a breathtaking singing voice, not that she’d ever sing in front of anyone. Large pixie wings sprout from between her shoulder blades, glass-like in appearance and almost completely transparent. When lihgt hits them, it disperses, broken up into each of the seven colour of the rainbow. When she doesn’t need them, they simply cease to be, the only trace of them being the large tattoo left behind. It reaches from between her shoulder blades to halfway down her rear, as if she folded her wings down and they simply sunk into her skin.
Weapons: Nyvaei is always armed. Because she is constantly travelling, she is ready to fight at any hour of the day. The physical weapons she carries are as follows;
Her twin blades; Elyma and Monethe; They are elven in design, each with a downward sloped mahogany handle, decorated with silver inlays of vines and flowers. The blades themselves are steel that shines like sunlight on snow, curving upward and slightly scalloped at the end. The blade sheaths are dark leather, embossed with designs similar to those on the handles.
Her bow; Demhpircon; Elven design, the bow is carved from willow for lightness and flexibility.
Her hand-and-a-half sword; Nyvir; She journeyed to Ashville, determined not to stop until she found her aunt; the elven bladesinger Rowan, and begged her to forge her a sword of her own. And so she did. The result was a sword as beautiful and deadly, as complex and intricate, as silent and cold as Nyvaei herself.
But physical weapons are not her only armaments. She is armed with that force that binds us all, one to the other; magic.
Frostblade: A spell that freezes the blade of any one of her swords or the blades in her gauntlets (or alternatively, the tip of an arrow) without causing it any damage. When the blade makes contact with skin, it starts to freeze it, eventually consuming the whole body of the opponent, turning them into a frozen lump of meat; a life-sized ice sculpture.
Blizzard: A spell that allows Nyvaei to summon a snowstorm at will and, using herself as the conduit, concentrate it's force of destruction onto one or more opponents, hitting them with hail, snow and freezing gales.
The Will of the Water Spirits: When in times of dire need, Nyvaei can call upon the Water Spirits to aid her; i.e, when she's near death and unable to defend herself, they would provide a distraction and an escape.
Frost Giant: Nyvaei has the power to summon a Frost Giant; a huge creature, made entirely of ice, whose breath is blizzard and gaze is as cold as death. A creature that can shoot icicles from it's palms and whip up a snowstorm on a whim. It can only be destroyed if it's set on fire and the fire isn't put out, or if it's mistress is successfully knocked out/killed.
Appearance;
Hair: She has short, snow white hair that forms a halo of loose curls around her head, with a few long bangs sweeping across her forehead. When the light hits it, it shines blue in some places and peach in others
Eyes: Her eyes are liquid silver normally, framed by thick dark lashes under high, arched brows. When she uses magic they glow ice-blue.
Face: Nyvaei has a petite, heart shaped face, with high angled cheekbones, a soft yet defined jaw and a small chin. She has a button nose and full, pouted lips.
Skin tone: She has skin as ice pale as her hair and as soft as fresh fallen snow, with a few light freckles scattered across her nose.
General build: A bit wide in the shoulders for a girl. She’s lean and well toned, but remains rather slight, albeit with very distinguished curves.
Weight: 126lb
Height: 5’3”
Distinguishable features (scars, tattoos, piercings etc): Nyvaei has a small silver stud in her left nostril and a barbell through her left brow. She has a large tattoo of butterfly wings that encompasses the whole of her back. She also has pointed ears. Her left ear is pierced once at the lobe and a further three times up at the top. She has a small stud about halfway up her ear and a scaffold piercing; a piercing through the outer rim of her ear on either side of the point, with a single silver barbell linking the two piercings. Her right ear is pierced three times at the lobe; she wears two small silver hoops and one stud, and a larger stud further up towards the tip. She also has a small scar that cuts through her right eyebrow, but this is hidden by the long bangs that brush her eyelashes.
Armour:
HEAD: Nyvaei wears a suede hood, lined with black wolf's fur. It conceals her unusual hair and casts her face in shadow, making her hard to identify, even in broad daylight.
TOP HALF: A tight, one strapped, burgundy top that ends just just below her bust at the right, then falls diagonally down for about two inches, with one strap snaking over her left shoulder. It's laced diagonally up the back with black cord. The wears a shoulder plate on her right shoulder, forged of the strongest storm-grey steel and engraved with rosevines. A leather strap is harnessed to it, which in turn is connected to a steel rig that rests just below the hollow of her throat, at the top of her breastbone. This ring is connected to a series of steel rectangles, bound in leather, forming a taught chain that holds the other half of the piece in place. A large rerebrace of such dark steel it's almost black, is wrapped around the upper half of her left arm, jutting out in a point at the top. A diamond is set into it towards the edge that meets her shoulder, an empty vat for storing energy. The rerebrace is made up of four overlapping steel plates that bend out at an angle, ending in a razor point. The edges of the plates are sharp as scimitars.
ARMS: On her arms, Nyvaei wears steel gauntlets; the one on her left arm is black with the smallest hint of blood red, the one on her right arm is as white as fresh snow. The fingers of the gauntlets end in sharp claws, that are slightly serrated along the inside curve. The knuckles of the gauntlets are reinforced, and end in points for extra damage in hand-to-hand combat. Along the arm of each gauntlet, three blades jut out from the surface, curving round in the shape reminiscent of a dragons tooth. The blades make the gauntlets weapons in and of themselves, which, if in capable hands, can be deadly. As if that wasn't enough, she has something up her sleeve; literally, There is a concealed mechanism inside the gauntlets; when Nyvael pulled her hand back, bending it at the wrist, it pulls a fine chain inside the gauntlet, loosening it for a brief moment, which releases a long, slim blade out of the base of the wrist. Then, when Nyvaei pushes her hands down, the chain is pulled back and becomes taut again, concealing the blades once more.
BACK: On her back she wears her black leather quiver, embossed with vines and blessings in elven. It holds her ebony bow and arrows tipped with black swan feathers. She also wears her twin blades; Elyma and Monethe. Nyvaei also wears a small leather pack fastened tightly to her back, which holds her few belongings.
WAIST: She wears dark red cotton shorts, over which she wears a skirt of some sort. A piece of material the colour of blood circles around her waist, secured at her right hip by a large silver brooch engraved with a dragon. The skirt falls diagonally, missing her left hip and resting at the top of her thigh. It is laced up diagonally, hinting at it's true nature. The skirt doubles as a bag. Over the skirt he wears her swordbelt; one main belt onto which her sword is buckled on, along with her coin purse and a pouch full of little trinkets.
LEGS: Nyvaei wears charcoal grey stockings on her legs, that end a few inches before the tops of her thighs, secured by two wine-red ribbons.
FEET: And black suede boots with a high wedged heel upon her feet. They are laced up at the back with leather cord and are lined and trimmed with black wolf's fur. There are four sheathes on each boot, each one holding a throwing knife.
Basically this with a few alterations;
Equipment: Nyvaei wears a white gold circlet across her brow, set with a large tear-drop shaped sapphire. The gem is blue-black, the colour of the night sky, but it is hidden by the long bangs that sweep across her forehead. She never takes it off, as it was a gift from her mother; (Minus the little f gem things and a sapphire instead of a moonstone.)
She also wears an ornate silver ring set with a piece of lapis lazuli;
And the silver snowflake necklace she was given at birth;
Personality;
Pro's: Compassionate towards animals and nature. She's never been attacked by a wild creature, she's always able to calm them. Nyvaei is very loving and compassionate, and values all forms of life. For this reason, she abhors killing, but understands that sometimes there is no other choice. She is very in touch with her emotions, and is in perfect control over them.
Con’s: Holds a sense of disdain towards higher mammals (humans, elves, etc). She always hides behind her mask. No emotions ever get anywhere near the surface. Because of this, she seems as cold and unforgiving as a snowstorm, and as merciless of a killer. But she does not realise that this is how she comes across. She is blind to it. She can be very intimidating, despite her small size and innocent beauty. When she gets angry she instinctively resorts to violence, usually slaying that which cause her anger.
Likes: All sorts of animals, big and small. Being outside. Snow. Ice-cold water. Flying. Frosty morning hunts. Rare steak. Long walks. Singing. Being alone. Swimming. Making ice sculptures. Children. Puppies. Reading.
Dislikes: Hot weather. Fire. Sunlight. Mulled wine. Arrogant people. Those who take the land they live in and the creatures that inhabit it for granted. Ale. Soldiers. Drunkards. Greedy people. Those who pick fights. People who have no sense of compassion. Unnecessary violence. Smoke. Those who revel in killing.
Fears: Dying alone, unknown and uncared for. Small, dark, cramped places. (Claustraphobia) She got lost in a cave as a child, it was actually the entrance to a huge network of tunnels, with very low ceilings and tight walls.
Habits: Tends to make raspberry noises when she doesn't know what to say or forgets what she's in the middle of saying. Sleeps on her stomach. Always reads the last page of a book first. Bites her lip when she's deep in thought. Raises an eyebrow a lot.
Brief History She was born to a pixie mother and an elven father deep in the Great Pine Barens. Her mother was Nyv (NEEV), a talented seamstress and if she believed al the tales her father told her; a runaway princess of the fae. Her father was Faelin, elven archer with a penchant for wild tales. Her mother died when she was seven and her father left one night shortly after. She was taken in by a friend of her mother's and, although she cherished her adopted family, she always hated the fact she had been forced into their company by her father. Her adopted brother; Talon Jai, taught her how to fight and how to use a bow, her adopted father taught her how to use a sword. She was out hunting when she got caught up in a magic storm that turned her into a water elemental. She decided to leave shortly after her eighteenth birthday, but didn't succeed in persuading her parent it was the right thing to do for another six months. After she left, she began her search for Rowan the Bladesinger. It took her over a month to find her, and after she obtained her sword, she stayed with her for a further two months while she deliberated on what to do next. She eventually settled on a decision; Head North, to the Gaian Academy and learn what she could.
