[GEAR]
Top: Typically wears a sturdy set of dark lensed goggles during the day. He claims they are for use in the forge to protect his eyes, however they actually protect his eyes from daylight. When dressed for traveling, he wears a brown sleeveless top that is an amalgamation of hard and soft leather with light plate riveted to the chest and back, to include a set of form fitting pauldrons. He keeps his traveling necessities in an ugly, rugged sail-cloth backpack with reinforced leather straps and stress points.

Bottom: When dressed for travel, he wears a loose pair of un-flared, brown, single-tone tweed breeches with button fastening cargo pockets. These are held in place by a thick leather belt fastened by a moderate sized belt buckle. The belt buckle itself is the form of an escutcheon bearing the coat of arms of the House of Carn. It is battered and badly worn, barely recognizable to casual scrutiny. His breeches are bloused at the top of sturdy brown leather boots fastened by straps with small, functional buckles without ornament.

[BACKGROUND]
Lady Seraphine died giving birth to Devus at Le'Chery. The child would not remain there.

Devus was largely cared for and raised by Sir Furyon of the Brothers Hostile, the last request of Lady Seraphine. His early life took place a day's ride outside the bustling port city of Hymir, shunning outsiders. Knowing the hardship Devus would face later in life, Furyon raised him in a number of aspects; As a page, as a squire, as a son. He had no way to explain to Devus the markings on his skin, or why his eyes were different. He was also unable to explain why the boy could see perfectly well in the dark, and could move shadows, and could not see very well by day. Eventually he opted to have a special set of eyewear created for his pupil.

There was no subject Furyon would not take pain to teach Devus if he requested. Using funds from the limited Trust he was given, he hired quality tutors who normally were responsible for schooling traditional nobility. Outside of his traditional martial training, Devus was also encouraged to pursue a civilian trade. He chose two. He was also required to learn, if not practice, the ways of the Order of the New Dawn and its sub-chapters.

Not long after his 21st Araman, Devus was told about his past and his birthright. Furyon told him that he had to go now, and find his way. Knowing Furyon, Devus did not protest and left his mentor to find his place in the world.

Eventually, he stumbled into a trade route and fell in with a caravan. Many caravans. He would jump from caravan to caravan as a hired sword, in addition to providing services as a blacksmith and a carpenter. It was on the road that the young Margrave truly learned about life and witnessed the world for all its majesty and to his dismay, travesty.

Furyon never did know that secretly, a voice called the Baron had been with Devus all his life. The Baron told Devus why he was the way he was, and the Margrave has never mentioned it to another living soul.

[FAMILY]
Father: Lord Delan Carn, Margrave of Shalon; deceased- violently acute dysentery.
Mother: Lady Seraphine Carn Margravine of Shalon; died in childbirth.

Note: Parents were exiled from their holdings in Chemosh for reasons unknown to this day. It was aboard a merchant ship along the east coast that they ran aground on Iblis Shaitan. Exactly what took place on the island is unknown, however chronologically it was strangely likely on the island that Devus was conceived. Before they had even left the island, the Margrave took ill with dysentery and died en route to Le'Chery.

[Quote]
'I don't want a special, magic sword. I want a dependable sword. Magical things get lost or broken, and can't be recovered. But honest steel? If it breaks or is lost, I just make a better one.'
