Personality:
Syl is a silent, soft spoken middle aged man. From his appearance, he would easily be mistaken for someone past 70, but his actual age is around 35, though even he himself is unsure due to never having parents and having no memory of his childhood. He has no noticeable sickness or disability which requires him to have a walking stick. He is slow to anger and always speaks with choice words. Often he sits by a tavern or pub or some similar establishment and ask for spare change from its many patrons. He is far travelled, having friends in the Elven woodlands up to the mountain keeps of the Dwarves. Although known, he is very reclusive, preferring solitude and silence.
History:
His life, as far as he can remember, began with him wandering the streets of Golfandor, the city of perpetual rain. He begged, worked, and even stole, just to survive. All this changed when he discovered the art of Summoning which he used to leave his life of damp misery and went to travel the world. With a burning desire and silent conviction, he set out… His goal, to collect the golden zodiac seals, and uncover the secrets of Summoning.
Abilities:
Summoning. Syl is able to call upon celestial summons through the use of seals. The seals are carved into different materials, depending on the power of the Summon. Aside from calling on Summons, the seals also bestow Syl a certain ability. Currently, Syl has 3 seals.
Ebony Seal: ‘The Shadow’ Summons a figure made of black smoke, and allows Syl to shadowmeld
Blood Seal: ‘The Serpent’ summons a venomous serpent whose size depends on this ratio: The larger the snake, the less toxic its venom. Grants Syl a high tolerance against poisons.
Arrowhead Seal: ‘The Archer’ a unique seal, like all Zodiacs, this summons Sagittarius, a centaur archer. Grants Syl sharper vision and sensitivity to movement, and improves his marksmanship.
Summoning requires Mental focus and Soul energy, as the Summoned Creature takes up Space and energy in the plane of the Summoner, the soul energy is traded in place of the summon in the Celestial Plane. This summoning system prevents the different planes from imploding from the sudden disappearance of matter and energy. And because of the heavy toll on the Summoner, keeping more than 2 Summons active at once requires great skill, and 3 above, highly unwise and difficult.
Notes:
His Iridescent eyes are barely noticeable as he keeps his hood up almost all the time, and his gray hair is kept in from of his face, further obscuring his face.
His Elderwood walking stick is a black and twisted, at the lower tip it tapers to a thin point, while the top ends in a mass of protrusions that look like roots of an upturned tree

Of Seal Summoning:
Summoning is a fairly common magic, although most notably used by Necromancers, Elementalists and Druids, there are many different types of Summoning styles. Sylinth uses the ancient, and often considered obsolete, art of Seal Summoning (SS). This requires a contract of sorts, consisting of a Symbol for the Summon; called the Celestial Summon (CS), and a suitable material upon which the symbol is etched, carved, tattooed or otherwise marked on. The process of summoning requires tremendous mental concentration, and sufficient Soul Enery (SE), which is exchanged for the space and matter occupied by the CS in this world, into the Celestial Plane from which the CS came from. This Summon art is rarely practiced not only because of it's degree of difficulty but also because SS also has a finite number of summons.
Basic Rules:
1. A Master must have completed the required formal contract in order to summon from the Celestial Plane
2. A Master must always have the required Soul Energy to summon a CS. If the master does not have enough SE, the summoning will fizzle and the SE will be dispersed
3. A CS may never directly and willingly cause serious injury to its master
4. A CS may stay in the physical plane with it's master as long as the master is able to provide the necessary SE
5. A CS can NEVER be forced into the physical plane without a formed formal contract
*Full details discussed in 'Summoners Contract'
Summons: Summons are ranked in level of strength and ability; From lowest to highest, these are the C,B,A and S ranks.
C class Summons
(creatures and inanimate objects of the lowest power. there are around 100)
B class Summons
(creatures and inanimate objects of average power. there are around 70)
A class Summons
(powerful creatures, weapons and armor. there are around 50)
S class Summons
(Mythical beasts, Elementals, and Legendary Weapons. there are around 50)
Symbols: though other Summoning arts may have multiple summons of the same creature, SS has a finite number of summons. This can be viewed as a major drawback, considering that the aim of most summoners is to have their own private army. But there is a major cause for this, because that the CS have their own lives and own personalities within their dimension called the Celestial Plane. Because of this limited number of CS, each and every one of them answers to a certain symbol. Most of the low ranking summons have their symbols compiled through magical documents, which are sold by merchants who sell such items. The higher ranking symbols though, require another process of attainment altogether. Due to to the CS having a certain degree of free will, the more powerful CS tend to be stubborn, and only accepting a contract with Summoners whom they deem worthy of their power.
Celestial Plane: While other summons animate corpses and inanimate objects, or draw animals and form elementals, SS draws all of its summoned creatures (Celestial Summons) from a different and separate dimension called the Celestial Plane. In this dimension, Living CS have their rate of recovery tripled, while weapons and armor are mended by 'The Smith' (a CS)
Soul Energy: Soul Energy (SE) is the currency of Seal Summoning. It's created through concentration and meditation. It is traded in place of the matter and energy shifted from the CS onto the physical plane. The more powerful the summon, the larger amount of SE required.
Important Notes:
*Summons are not mindless minions to do the summoner's every command, they are rational beings capable of their own thoughts and actions. the 'Summoner's Contract' explains the full details.
*Not all Celestial Summons are bound to the Celestial Plane.. Some summons (commonly the powerful ones) are actual beings from the physical plane.
**Details on above is discussed on Summon Contract.
*Although the counts for each class looks fairly high, note that only one Summoner can control the Symbol (and therefore the CS) and call upon it.
*Ex. as Syl owns the Arrowhead Seal of Sagittarius, no other summoner can summon Him. This may not be a problem concerning C and B class summons, but what summoner would be satisfied with mediocre Skeletons and Treemen when you can summon the Phoenix, Minotaur, etc. therein lies Sylinth's quest.

Summary:
Sagittarius, a member of the Zodiac sub-class summons. He is a centaur archer with incredible accuracy. He also has a great amount of stamina, evidenced by his ability to travel long distances while carrying Syl. Though he is a powerful archer, he is also very strong up close. Utilizing his powerful arms and legs, he is formidable in unarmed combat.
Background:
Sagittarius was one of the first summons Oljhin, along with Smoke and Ahas. He is one of the twelve Zodiac sub-class summons (rank S). As being one of the S ranking summons, he shares with them the arrogance and care-free attitude. Though he may seem that way, Sagittarius has a reliable side, and is always looking out for his master, though he doesn't always come off that way.
He has claimed to be Chiron, an immortal centaur, in his previous life. When asked how he became a celestial summon, Sagittarius simply replies with a snort and looks away. He places his confidence in Syl, and his other summon brethren under his master's control, but is very suspicious of other humanoid beings. He has a fondness for elven folk and their kin, enjoys the music of the harp, and, when not with Syl, is often practicing his archery in the celestial plane.
Art I made for Sagittarius. No colors.. I suck at colors.. and No photo manipulation either.. I blow at that. >.>
PS: I know the drawing is crappy. xD
ummary:
Smoke is a celestial summon that appears as a swirling mass of black, smoky, shadowy tendrils. He is often with Syl as he does not require a great amount of Soul Energy to keep active. Smoke is often plays the role of scout for Syl because of his speed and stealth. Even though almost undetectable in darkness, Smoke is significantly weaker when under direct sunlight. He moves slower, his reach limited, and his shadowmelding ability is negated. Any artificial light, on the other hand, does little to hamper his ability. Even so, he detests any form of light. His ability peaks highest at the hour of dusk, and it peaks lowest at dawn.
Background:
Smoke was formerly known as Athalin Corbeir, the soul of an assassin trapped in limbo, for the crime of Kinslaying. Smoke was Athalin’s codename whilst he was an assassin for hire. After spending centuries in limbo, he offered to make a summon contract with Syl when they had contact at a time when Syl was an apprentice summoner. Seeing a way out, He tried to trick the [then] naïve apprentice. After much discussion, (in secret, as Syl’s master would surely have thrown fits and cast both Syl and Smoke into the bottomless pit that is Limbo) they agreed that, in return for service to Syl, Smoke’s spirit was to be released from limbo and allowed passage into the celestial plane as a celestial summon. Although the judge of limbo agreed to this, he added that Smoke’s soul will only be released when Syl passes on his seal to an apprentice. Until such time, should any harm befall Syl, Smoke’s soul shall be forever trapped in limbo. This changed Smoke’s easy escape into a lifetime of servitude. Though he resents these conditions, he still gives a deal of care for his master.
He assumed his form both as a reminder of his former life, and of limbo, and of the place that awaited him should he let Syl die prematurely. He has no fixed mass, and can expand his size indefinitely. Whatever size he takes, Syl has to ‘pay’ the corresponding amount of soul energy, but when there are shadows about, Smoke can assimilate and manipulate those into his mass without Syl having to ‘pay’ the equivalent soul energy.
*He is technically a celestial summon in a sense that, even though his soul is in limbo, his corporeal form and consciousness reside in the celestial plane when unsummoned.
*He can attach himself to Syl’s black elderwood staff while in the physical plane for concealment.
*Though his form is that of smoke, he can congeal his ‘body’ into solid form with a resistance equivalent to the same thickness of steel.Though he can also create projectile weapons such as arrows or bolts, he rarely does as he has a very limited range when out in the open.
*Though his symbol grants Syl the ability to shadowmeld, this ability is magnified if Smoke is in the field as he can render Syl almost invisible and hides him from the perception of all but the keenest senses.
