The Ghost in the Glass House. (Semi-Open)

Soft muted sounds of pouring raindrops upon glass echoed throughout the Academy Greenhouse adding an almost pleasant musical quality to the air while dulling the usual quiet atmosphere of the quite large glass building, the sounds coming from above however sounded different as the roof of the building was made not of glass but plastic hence the sound was distinctly different to the ears of most. The greenhouse itself was a myriad of bright vibrant colors as many different species of plant and tree called this building home the scent from all of the combined flowers made the air smell sweet and inviting, naturally not all of the plants looked as such as entire sections of the building were devoted to more dangerous flora including several of the most deadly toxins to be found in all of Valucre. It was normally tended to by several priests as well as a few select students who showed an interest in such a vocation while at the same time being trustworthy enough to work independently, such duties carried with them no real additional benefits hence few students even those who truly loved plants would sacrifice their free hours to tend to the flowers over more seemingly entertaining practices.

Rika however had found it to be a perfect way to occupy her time considering her free hours were spent mostly reading books and avoiding the looks of others as she made her way around campus, her ghostly form attracted a lot of onlookers and quiet whispers from many of the other students. But such actions were becoming less frequent now that Rika had been at the academy for a few months as other more interesting things had begun to occupy her fellow students minds, it was a relief in a way since Rika had felt so alienated from those around her except for a few notable people. The teachers of her classes had found Rika to be a most apt pupil as she always listened to their lectures and instructions with a keen ear while avoiding being distracted by class shenanigans among her fellow class mates, Rika also had a habit of staying behind after classes for extra assignments and work such as the greenhouse work she was currently engaging in much to the disgust of some of her classmates. Names such as ‘teacher’s pet’ and ‘brown noser’ had been common labels given to the girl both behind her back as well as several directly to her face from the members of the class who seemed to be struggling, Rika didn’t begrudge them too much as in her mind they were either simply jealous or frustrated as the work didn’t seem to come as naturally to them. A small smile played upon her ghostly lips at the thought of someone being jealous of her for much of anything given her current state as metallic fingers made lite work of delicate pruning, fingers that rarely made mistakes as well as never growing tired which was another reason this job was well suited to her.

Today she had come in early since she didn’t need to sleep which meant most nights she would simply lie in bed waiting for morning to come or wander the campus grounds, she had grown a particular attachment to the docks at night time as the winds around that time of night since it offered the best view for how her vision now worked. Which was the only real downside of this vocation which was that she couldn’t really tell one flower from the other without finding the right differences, there were even some that looked so alike Rika couldn’t tell the difference and simply had to leave them for the priest which was in its own way disheartening.

“Sunny morning... let your rays shine down on this little one…” The words quietly sung in a musical tone the voice distorted slightly so it sounded almost like two people were singing, the words were clear however and feeling was evident in the way the words flowed.

“Rainy morning… let your tears pour down to heal this little one…” A second verse sung in much the same tone as water poured from a hand held water can droplets cascading over the waiting flower, it was only when she was truly alone that Rika sang since she lacked the courage around others but with the flowers as an audience she found the courage.

The sun had just begun to rise as she had started her song which was quite the coincidence or so Rika thought as she walked over to use the watering can on another nearby flower, it was looking to be an interesting day as the first of the students began to emerge from the buildings most of them likely rushing to be first in the breakfast queue or to be first into the library to grab one of the many bound volumes needed for their uncompleted homework. There was another reason Rika had visited the greenhouse so early in the morning was to attempt to dispel a rumour that the greenhouse was in fact haunted, the rumour had cropped up several weeks ago when a group of students who had been studying inside the greenhouse late at night claimed to have heard what sounded like ghostly crying. Most people dismissed it as simply the wind or an overactive teenage imagination but Rika being party a ghost herself had also been nominated by some as the possible cause, which was ridiculous really but none the less Rika had decided to investigate none the less both in an effort to clear her name so to speak while at the same time out of curiosity. The night had revealed no clues however so all Rika had ended up doing was keeping the plants company but she was planning to stay again at the greenhouse tonight, placing the watering can down Rika made her way towards the entrance to the greenhouse wanting to make it to the library herself to look a few things up before the rest of her day started.

Kacey had always kept an ear open for any rumors that wandered about the school. What she hadn't expected to hear was the school's greenhouse being haunted. Of course, she wasn't surprised that a building in this school was haunted, just that there was a greenhouse and she hadn't known about it till now. It took a couple of hours to finagle the information about its location out of the other students but once she had, she set out for it.

It happened to be before dawn when she set out. Kacey had a way of making night time her main time of activity, so it wasn't a big deal for her. Her classes didn't start till awhile from now. As she approached the greenhouse, she was surprised to find sounds of singing coming from within. Moving silently, she opened the door and slipped inside.

Natural curiosity pulled her to look for the source of the sound. What she found shocked her even more. Never in her life did she think that ghosts were real, but right there in front of her was one. Her eyes were wide with shock but her instincts forced her to stay hidden. She was even staying back as light filtered into the greenhouse and the ghost moved to leave. Kacey couldn't believe it but she was actually frightened. It had been many years since she had felt this way.

It wasn't till the ghost reached for the door did a piece of Kacey's childhood came to the surface. She wasn't sure what she was thinking but it was still early and her and the ghost were the only ones in there as far as she knew. Her came a squeak as she tried to call out, "Excuse me?!" It had been so long since she tried to shout. The pain was almost unbearable inside her throat. The loudest she had ever gotten before that was just a loud whisper.

Her left hand clutching her throat, she stepped from her place of hiding. Her face looked like a fawn facing a wolf, but she had questions that for some reason she hoped the ghost could help her answer.

Rika's mind was slowly running through it's mental checklist of classes she had for the day remembering that she still had a few things she would need to read over in the library while she was there, there was also a book on hold for her that one of the librarians said would be retuning today and had kindly agreed to hold it for her. A small smile touched her transparent lips as her hand reached for the handle to the Greenhouse door, few people had been so kind to her since her arrival due to her appearance but the librarians while having been a little fearful at first had quickly warmed up to her once they realized what she actually was. She had been an almost permanent fixture in the quiet library halls for the first few weeks of her time in the Academy, between adjustments to living in the dorm combined with her appearance and general loneliness she had naturally flocked to the quiet the small building had to offer. As her fingers closed around the handle of the door she heard a muted squeak behind her that she almost missed the noise causing her to freeze for a moment, maybe the ghost she had been looking for had found her? Perhaps sensing a kindred spirit inside the same building it had sought her out and she could finally dispel the rumors about herself, after all it couldn't be anyone else since none of the others got up this morning and the door was a loud thing so it was unlikely someone had gotten in without making a racket. With this firmly in mind Rika slowly turned around to greet her apparent spectral guest, she didn't want to turn around quickly however as that might put the poor thing to flight as the rumor had stated crying so naturally it was assumed the ghost was an unhappy one.

"Don't be afrai..." Rika completed her turn and had begun to speak before her vision settled on Kacey her words drying up the moment she realized her guest was not a fellow spirit but a human girl, Rika's ghostly lips lay open for a few moments before slowly slipping shut as she pressed back against the door to the greenhouse her metallic fingers curling around the hand tightly.

A quick look over the other girls stance and features and her discomfort being in Rika's presence was nothing unusual as she had seen it on hundreds of other faces before, this girl was a little different however as she wasn't running away or just staring she was actually approaching and trying to get Rika's attention. But she wasn't about to be fooled by that as her hand tightened on the handle ready to yank on it as others had gotten her attention before simply to poke fun or ridicule her, unbeknown to Rika a beam of morning light had taken this moment to pass through the glass door to the greenhouse the light reflecting off the golden golem body hidden beneath her ghostly form. Mostly when she was outside Rika would get the occasional comment about the body her father had attached her soul too, she however was as clueless as they were and didn't even notice when it glittered since all she could see was gray. Realizing that this encounter would be unlikely to progress unless she said something or ran away Rika simply chose the former, running away from a problem had never really helped before so starting now wouldn't help matters.

"Can I... help.. you?" Rika said quietly her voice naturally sounded ghostly having a rather unnatural sound to it, she had been told some found it unnerving as it sounded hollow and cold compared to what her old voice had sounded like.

Rika knew it was the fact the girl had gotten inside without alerting her that had he so on edge, who knows how long the other girl had been listening to her as she had made her rounds singing and talking to the various flowers. Still she waited patiently, ready to flee if things began to take a turn for the worst.

Kacey watched as the spectral turned to face her. Her mind whirled with so many stories and legends she had heard through her life but never before did she think they might have possibly been real. This was turning into a moment where Kacey began to question the very fabric of everything she had thought to be real in her life. How many other things in this world did she believe to be misguided lies or hallucinations actually exist?

The whole reality of it all was almost too much for her to bear. She was starting to find her vision blurring and breathing hard. Kacey was even sure she might have been falling apart herself, should she not be real. She had even missed the obvious sign that the ghost had expected someone else to be standing in Kacey's position.

Her system was simply going into a state of shock as everything was overloaded. That was till the morning light shifted and started to shine straight through the transparent vision. The glitter was something she could never confuse for being a poor girl the sight of gold was something that couldn't be forgotten. Her mind now traveled a new path. One that brought her world crashing back down on her.

Red seemed to edge her vision now as it sharpened. Her lips setting into a thin line. Kacey couldn't believe that she had fallen for such a trick. Her throat though still in pain constricted as she reverted back to the simple whisper that she used with all, "Are you intelligent or just a programmed illusion?" She didn't know why she even asked the question. But at the moment she was simply angry that she had fallen for a hoax set by cruel people.

Kacey took pause though as the idea of a student using that much gold for a trick. It was something that didn't seem fathomable. Although she had seen many wealthy people here at the Academy. Either way, she had a full mind to pay the culprit a visit. The words slipped from her lips quieter than the first, "I will find out who you are and I will make sure you pay for the cruelty your inflicting on people's lives."

Her steps now carried her forward towards the creation of pranks, her aim was simply for the door that the golem stood in front of. As she began moving though, tears began to well up in her eyes as thoughts of her questions came back to mind. She had so hoped that she had finally found a way to receive answers to mysteries that surrounded her life.

    "my goodness.."
His rather shaky voice echoed through the huge greenhouse as he stood there with his face blank and the index of his right hand pointing towards the ghastly figure who appeared to be a female. Augustus who is a transfer student in the school and had joined just yesterday had heard rumours for they travel quite fast about the school's greenhouse being haunted and infested with ghosts but never in his wildest imaginations had he thought that they would turn out to be true.
He stood about 16 feet from the ghastly female and her human companion, he was dressed in the school's uniform and had a roll of paper clutched in his left hand which was actually the overall layout cum map of the school. Just out of curiosity he had decided to pay the greenhouse a visit so as to get to know the school better but here he was witnessing a ghost in front of him.
His expressions resembling that of a person's who is facing a loaded gun but he was not as scared as he should have been or as he thought he would be if he really came face to face with the ghost.
    -maybe its in the blood-,
his subconscious speaking in the back of his mind as he speaks with again in the same manner but with a raised voice,
"who are you and what do you want from this place?"

Rika watched silently as the cascade of emotions ran over Kacey's face and for a moment she didn't know how to respond or feel to this seemingly strange woman, she seemed to be struggling for breath for a few moments which was almost enough to tear Rika away from the door she was leaning against. She remembered how much air was needed when she was alive, it had seemed such an important thing back then but it was no more useful than clothing or most other things the living took for granted. A moment of thinking was all the decision time required for Rika to decide to help the young woman, releasing her hold on the handle of the door she took a step towards the seemingly struggling woman.

"Are you alright?" She said quietly her normal quiet tone replaced with one of mild alarm, the usual ghostly tinge remained in her voice as she spoke but the urgency in it was obvious.

All of a sudden the woman's demeanor changed again as if she had noticed something suddenly or come to a decision about Rika, this change had Rika immediately back on the defensive causing her to retreat a step to the relative safety of the door. This could simply be another trick of course though Rika had to admit it was going a bit far for a trick, the new emotion written on the woman's features was easy to read as Rika had seen it alot during her time here. A small part of her was saddened as the meeting between them had started off so well compared to most, the question following it however Rika once again almost missed due to the girls lowered voice and the distance between them. This was also not the first time this question had been asked of her and just like the last time she didn't know what had prompted it, sighing quietly she looked down at her feet wondering not for the first time if coming to this place had been such a wise idea.

"I'm not an illusion." She said quietly to herself more than to Kacey, the feeling of wanting to leave was quickly building inside Rika as the continued to look down at the floor.

For a moment it looked as if the other woman was pondering something before she seemed to whisper to herself quietly, even though she was trying to listen Rika ended up not catching a word of it before the woman started towards her. Then the oddest thing happened that suddenly had Rika completely at a loss, tears began to appear at the corner of the woman's eyes as it seemed somehow Rika had now made the woman cry. Confusion was written all over Rika's ghostly features as she looked up at Kacey in time to watch her start towards her, the need to leave was becoming unbearably strong as a sudden echoing voice caught her attention. Rika's attention turned instantly to the voices owner her eyes taking in the details of his character while at the same time wondering where he had come from, the greenhouse had only one door that she knew of and she was the only one who had remained here last night of that she was sure. The newcomer seemed to have the same look Kacey had at first but at the same time not the same, the raised voice was the seemingly final straw as finally Rika gave into the overwhelming need to get away.

"I'm sorry!" She said loudly her voice carrying throughout the entire greenhouse before her form would quickly turn and yank on the handle to the greenhouse door flinging it open and startling several passing students before stepping out the door quickly and taking off at a run towards the library.

Augustus would barely have the time and chance to react as the seemingly ghost dashed within an instant leaving the scene in utter silence after the loud bang of the door getting shut faded away.
The way she ran away and her expressions and body language were rather humanly, maybe she was a human. His eyes pondering over the spot where the other girl was located as it hits him hard-
she was trying to help her, of course she is a human, you moron!
His mother's sweet voice chiming in his head-
never judge a book by its cover

Cursing himself mentally for scaring away the innocent girl who probably has a meek and shy personality , he decides that he would find her later and apologize to her.

Augustus had decided to spent the previous night there it self to witness the ghosts or demons with his own eyes but due to tiredness of his first day, he had fallen asleep rather quickly in the empty cupboard in which he had managed to stuff himself.

Augustus stood there for a few moments as if dazed. His right arm falling to his side as he gazes with a blank and emotionless face at the door out of which the female had dashed away.
He is a medium built man with a height of 6 feet and silver hair with bangs reaching the tip of his sharp nose. The color of his irises is inhumanly blue as that particular shade of blue is not found in humans for it was more like 'glowing blue'. His face radiant and emitted a glow like the angels or cherubims have.

Major part of his mind wanted to catch up to her and apologize to fix the huge misunderstanding, but he followed the minor part by walking towards the girl named Kacey.
He had overheard their mini conversation before deciding to jump in himself.

Placing his left palm on her shoulder, he lightly shakes her
    ''hey! Are you okay?'',
his voice was a low tune but comforting and polite.

Kacey's face showed no emotion as the contraption appeared to show feelings before fleeing from the greenhouse. The escape made by it though startled many occupants outside the greenhouse and brought upon conversations which quickly hit home inside Kacey's chest. Students outside quickly labeled it as 'Rika'. And that she was a fellow student at the academy. Pain shot through Kacey as she took notice that she had become the bully in this situation.

Previous gossip came flashing back as she recalled the ghost 'Rika' but how she had just dismissed it. The ghost had been the talk of the academy for awhile, only Kacey ignored it as pish posh. The overwhelming feeling of her world falling apart started to creep back but thankfully she had someone else there to force it back for the time being.

The man that showed up after Kacey's accusations still stood there in the building with her. And her ears quickly picked up the sounds of him moving forward to reside at her side. She could even sense his hand as it rose to clasp her shoulder. The motion simply made her shoulder act as if there was a 3 inch shield between his hand and her shoulder as it rolled down and away till she could step away from him. The action didn't show any inclination of her inner turmoil but simply that she didn't like being touched.

After another look at the door, she shifted her body to turn towards the other. Her eyes turned to greet his chest and had to simply travel upwards to find the face. She was only 5' 4" so it wasn't but a moment she took another step back so it wasn't so harsh on her neck. Since it had been dark when she arrived at the garden, her strawberry blond hair was still pulled back in a ponytail leaving her pale face fully visible for the man. Something that not many got to witness their first time.

Her mind instantly began analyzing and sizing the man up. It was a natural reaction towards any she encountered. Her dark brown eyes found themselves trapped for just a moment as they gazed at the blue irises that peered back at her. Even further up though she found the silver hair to be a nice touch. Through her time, she had come across many that had pretty faces and they held many different personalities, the eyes though were the first at least by what she could recall.

The last thing she took note of was his frame. Compared to her, he was huge but compared to Chaflin, he was but a twig. Her lips moved as she spoke to him, they were though but a whisper as that was how she always spoke, "I know where she might be. She haunts the library is what I've heard." As she thought about the ghost the dizzy feeling came back causing her to shift her weight. Taking a deep breath, she set out of the greenhouse in search of the... She now had to pause again as she looked back at the man. "Do you know where it is?"

The noise of Rika's solid golden feet hammering into the ground as she ran drew the attention of almost everybody she passed, people were even leaning out of windows to find out about the noise which only increased her embarrassment. Knowing the weight of her body Rika was normally always careful to walk carefully and slowly so as to cause as little noise as possible, thankfully her nerves were quickly calming now that she was outside and away from the two in the greenhouse. Slowing down a little at a time until finally she was back to moving at her normal leisurely pace, hanging her head quietly in partial shame to the disturbance her little episode had likely cause she breathed a quiet sigh. No doubt she would hear about this from someone before the day was out, it wasn't her fault that she was like this so why should she be punished. With that angry little thought rolling around in her mind Rika stopped for a moment to get her bearings, behind her stood the Gaian temple in all it's splendor and to her right was the various dormitory's one of which house Rika's own room. Having been quick to memorize the layout of all the places she visited on campus Rika started off towards the library at a slightly brisker than normal pace, she always felt safer inside the library since most of the one who bullied her didn't like being around so much literature. That and they were afraid of Lily, naturally any student who wanted to poke fun at Rika normally made a loud sport of it to draw others in and attention to themselves. Such an action inside the library always drew the attention of the librarian Lily, since Rika always whispered when in the library she had never been in danger but her assailants had quickly learned the wrath of the library head when the all suddenly found themselves unable to speak. It brought a smile to her face every time she would spot the woman hard at work shelving books, the image of her silencing everyone around her before gathering their attention to point towards one of the many 'NO LOUD TALKING' signs was a constant reminder that if there was ever a problem she could always hide in the library.

The walk was reasonably long at her slower pace so she was left with plenty of time to run over her mental list again before actually reaching the library, it was an older building or at least it looked older to Rika which wasn't really surprising since to her vision most things looked gray and old. The door however was at least well kept as it slid open with little more than a quiet squeak and closed behind her with an equally quiet click, a few short steps from the door place Rika at the nearby front desk which had one of Lily's aides working behind it at that moment. Looking up as Rika approached the girl smiled brightly as she immediately recognized Rika which of course wasn't hard but Rika didn't hold it against her, reaching beneath the counter having already known what the spirit construct would be after the girls hand returned clutching a thick leather bound book which she set on top of the counter with a small thump. Rika's ghostly features lit up in a genuinely happy smile as the book was placed upon the desk, the book had been on loan to various students for months so Rika had been patiently waiting for her turn. She had first heard about the book from a fellow avid reader that also frequented the library who had gone into great lengths to pique Rika's interest in the book, the other girl was convince Rika would love it but when asked why all the girl would tell her was that she would understand when she read it. Nodding her thanks to the aide Rika made her way rather hurriedly towards her favorite corner of the library, it was so because it normally had the fewest students inhabiting it which was why Rika liked it.

Settling down onto the floor in the furthermost corner in the small silent study section Rika rested herself back against the edges of the bookcases to her left and right, although many chairs surrounded her Rika knew none of them would hold the weight of her body and since she never felt discomfort from sitting on the floor it didn't matter much to her. Flipping the book open to it's first few pages she began reading instantly becoming attached to the way the script was written in the book, it was obviously old as the way it was written was rather old fashioned these days but it gave the book it's own form of charm. After a minute Rika had forgotten all about the events at the greenhouse as she allowed herself to be absorbed into the books story.

Augustus was still in a kind of daze when the sudden movement of the female named Kacey’s shoulder reflexively snapped him out of it. He takes a step back from her instinctively as his lips formed a small smile. He heaved a sigh of relief putting the palm of his left hand just above his heart as though telling it to calm down a notch. He was glad that the seemingly human female was alright and unhurt.

Numerous questions were swarming in his head waiting to get his attention and satisfy his curious mind but he decided to ignore them all for the time being. He moves some strands of his hair that were blocking his vision upto a minor extent by driving their tips behind his right ear with the index of his right.

Augustus out of a habit started looking at the small and fragile looking female from head to toe, looking for any notable points or features or even injuries for that matter, but his scanning came to an end when he found himself staring into her eyes and her staring back at him. Augustus quickly moved his gaze away from her and turned his head to the side by a small angle slightly embarrassed of the situation, though he could still feel the female eyes on her.
He was used to people staring at him all the time due to his distinct feature which he inherited from his mother but that was indeed a close call.

    “huh?!”

A sound from the female made him turn back around to look at her as he tries to focus his attention on what she was saying for she spoke in a very low voice.
Before he could have replied she already took off only t stop in midway to ask for the directions. Kacey on turning around would notice Augustus’s features resembling that of an offended man. His eyebrows scrunched to a frown, he takes small steps towards her as he spoke in a dominant and heavy tone

    “she is not a ghost!!”

It was not a shout it was more like a warning telling her to never call her a ghost in front of him again. Though he himself had done that, but now he wanted to make amends and he would do that as soon as he can.
He passes her as he walks towards the door, his right hand reaching for the knob as he then opens the door and speaks in again with his back facing her
    “stay out of this, kid”

Without further ado, the slamming of the door is heard as he walks out towards the library following her suggestion. He had the map of a school, so he was confident that he would reach there within a few minutes and without asking directions from anyone.
Several onlookers and passerby would stare at him having him seen emerging out of the greenhouse, but he ignored them for the time being paying them no heed. To him they were like part of the walls themselves

Kacey couldn't believe that the man was offended. She for the life of her couldn't figure out why he had a reason to be. Her mind instantly covered a series of possibilities such as her not allowing him to touch her, her sizing him up, or perhaps it was because she wasn't dumbfounded by his eyes. She had to admit his eyes were something that could easily place a trance upon someone but she hoped she had fixed all that with her past experiences.

She was about to ask him what had offended him when he started to walk towards her in an intimidating way. Her body tensed as fingers swept against her outer thighs as if searching for something that should be there. Coming up empty, she simply shifted her stance to take any swing he might make at her. Instead he just yelled at her as the merchants talked to any urchin that was too near their wares. The whole thing just brought her to the conclusion that she wasn't going to like this man at all.

Kacey watched as the man passed by her and took a hold of the door leading out of the greenhouse. Her eyes screamed hatred but soon would be the death of him if looks could kill when he told her to 'stay out of this, kid'. She couldn't even believe he had the gale to call her a kid much less boss her around. How she prayed she had her knives right about now. They were in a building alone which would only leave him at a disadvantage.

Even with her anger, she flinched as the door slammed again. Kacey pondered what magic was placed upon the glass to keep it from shattering as everyone slammed that door. She watched through it as the man sleezed away like the world owed him the ground he walked upon. She had an idea that he was going to see the 'GHOST!' But she feared being dismissed from the academy if she stayed near him.

Her voice whispered out leaving only the warning to the plants nearby, "Its men like that who end up with their name under a pillow. May I pray it be mine." Turning from the door, she squashed all thoughts that pertained to the scum from her mind. Her hands reached into the satchel she had been carrying on her side and pulled out a set of gloves. Slipping them on her hands, she worked her way over to an area of herbs that she knew quite well. Although with the rules here at the academy, she only hoped she didn't get in trouble for tending the poisonous plants.

Inside the greenhouse something stirred, it's slumber seemingly disturbed by the loud sounds at the front of the greenhouse. It's form made quick work of the distance between it's hiding place and the room where Kacey was tending the plants, it watched for a moment quite fearful of what it saw but curious at the same time. It approached slowly it's form hidden to the naked eye as it continued observing the one tending, she was different from the other members who frequented the glasshouse. In an attempt to get her attention it tried to speak but no words would come, fear gripped it as it wondered what this newcomer might do if she discovered it? Noticing the girl looking around for a tool the presence hoped to be helpful by quickly finding the tool and moving it to within reach the tool landing with a not so quiet bang, it hoped it had been helpful but the fear returned rather quickly squashing any hope that remained. Resigning itself to give up for now the presence vanished leaving naught a sign of it's existence except to those sensitive to such things, it would continue to hide till the night would come again to grant it voice once more.

Meanwhile in the library Rika had gotten absorbed in her book the first few pages bringing her to understand why her fellow reader had recommended the book to her in the first place, the book was a tale about a ghost who seemed to have fallen in love with the person who's house she was haunting after seeing his charity with the local children and hearing of his sad past as he was a widow. The words describing the mans heartache at the loss of his wife at such a young age would have had Rika in tears were it not for her inability as a spirit, still she felt a well of sympathy growing in her chest for the man as she continued to read on. Rika wasn't normally a reader of love stories as she had long ago given up on the concept, however the way the story flowed and her sympathy growing for the two of them locked in two worlds that were likely never to coincide tugged at her heartstrings. Another genuine smile graced her pale ghostly lips as her eyes continued to eat up the words the pages were feeding to her like a love starved child meeting it's long lost mother, time continued to tick naturally and Rika knew she would have to set the book down soon so she could finish the last of her work before her next class.

"One more page.." Came the quiet whisper from her smiling lips, it was almost like a mantra she whispered every time she was making a choice between work and her love of reading.

"Always one more with you, isn't it?" Came a quiet chuckle from a nearby table, the voice belonging to the same girl who had recommended the book to Rika.

Although the two didn't often meet a small bond of trust had formed between the two mostly due to their love of literature with the other girl obviously having gotten over her ethereal nature, Rika on the other hand just was relaxed around the other girl which was a feeling she seldom felt with anyone else hence her presence was almost always welcome. The girl was about the same height as Rika with long brown hair that was neatly kept in a ponytail a set of thin rimmed glasses sitting on the bridge of her nose below dark brown eyes, average was the word most would use for her but that never seemed to bother her much not that anyone ever told her that. The girl looked back to her book for a moment before turning back to Rika whom she knew was always one of the top marked people in her classes, it was obvious the girl wanted help with something but was having trouble saying it so Rika quietly closed her book making sure to note the page number before carefully standing up to go and help her friend.

Augustus was now outside the greenhouse, walking through the unknown corridors of the school in a slow pace which was in contrast to his usual style of brisk walking but that could not be helped at the moment for Augustus had the map spread out on his extended forearms and in front of him such that the palms of both hands were open and facing upwards with the elbows bent at nearly 90 degrees. His eyes looking up occasionally from the map to search for any landmarks mentioned in it. Augustus had been walking for a few minutes now, even though his pace was slow but his step length was 'above average'.
He knew it all along that his idea of sleeping in the greenhouse was going to be a regrettable mistake but he had not been thinking rationally at that time, the joy of a new adventure and meeting a ghost face to face had been too much for his rational mind. If only he had not been so reckless.

    “tchh!”

His shirt was not tucked in and the sleeves were also folded back to the level of his elbow. Only the first button of the shirt was opened as he walked along, ignoring the stares by his fellow schoolmates. The frequency of stares had reduced and was decreasing further as he walked away from the greenhouse and towards the library. Augustus had noticed that the nearer he got to the library, the fewer students he gets to encounter. This unknowingly made a small smile on his face which had a deep frown just a moment ago.

-this is now officially a law-

He thinks to himself before he blows some strands of his silver colored hair away from his face by aiming his for his forehead for they were tickling his nose only to find that they resettled in the same state as before.
    “Gah!”
He breathes out exasperated by the effort his hair took. Focusing his attention back to the map, he figures out his current location, muttering to himself

“that should mean that the temple of Gaia is right here.”

He turns around as he spoke and true to his word and the map’s, the temple was right there. He bows slightly as if admiring the structure. He is a strong believer in Greek mythology, thanks to his mother who has Greek origins.
After seeking Gaia’s blessings, he would turn around back towards where the map showed that the library was located and knowing that he was near to that place he starts walking again in the same slow manner following the map properly until he reaches a place where there did not seem to be any student, it was deserted and he could see that the building was rather old when compared to the rest of the school. And the door was the sliding kind which was also different from the doors that he had seen in that school till now.

He stands just a few inches away from the door, though he had a gifted mind and intelligence that was par than an average human but he did not like reading books. He sucked at literature and language subjects which was another reason why library was not exactly his kind of place. He could feel the silence inside the library as if it seeped out from the edges of the door. He would then inhale deeply before folding up the map and stuffing it into the pocket of his trousers. His left hand extended towards the door as he placed the very same palm on it and by mistake slides it open with ‘more than required’ force.

Kacey had been working with the plants all attention required on them since she didn't want to kill them. There were many of plants that would die easily if only handled wrong. She had even managed to find one of them that were ready for harvesting. The plant would grow buds that held the deadly liqueur inside. She wasn't sure the name but the use was familiar. A small amount would render one paralyzed while a slightly larger dose would end the person's life. The death would resemble a plague causing the instant burning of the body.

Being the first time in the greenhouse, she didn't know where anything was and she had been hunting diligently for a pair of pruning scissors. She had just about given up when a loud bang next to her elbow caused her to jump and realize that her body was telling her that someone was there. Shifting her head slightly so to see with her peripheral vision she was shocked again to find no one.

This had her turning completely around to see who was there but with finding no one and the feeling quickly disappearing the only thought that seemed to be popping up in her head was the rumors of how there was a ghost haunting the greenhouse. Carefully taking one of her gloves off, she reached up and pulled the thong that held her hair in place off. The leather next tucked away, she placed the glove back on and picked the clippers up to begin gathering some of the buds.

She wanted to say thank you but instead she just stayed quiet while she used her hair as a shield from any eyes of the students that were starting to filter into the greenhouse. Most likely to gather information or samples for assignments. Her hair providing her with a way to ignore them, she soon found herself working while deep in thought over what she had wanted to ask the spirit.

Among the students filing into the greenhouse to study and collect plants two senior students who obviously had little interest in the greenhouse itself but were definitely interested in something bustled through the door rather loudly drawing several glares, while the greenhouse wasn't a quiet zone like the library most students who were interested in plants didn't like loud noises while they were studying. Some of the more serious plant enthusiasts would go as far to say that loud noises inside the greenhouse would cause certain flowers to wilt or not sprout properly, there were no studies done to prove such things but none the less most people settled for just being quiet while inside. At first they simply seemed to mill around looking through the windows into the various rooms of plants and flowers, they even looked under the tables which all of the plants sat upon before their curiosity seemed to be satisfied which earned them a few odd looks from the other students.

"Looks like they were right." Said one as they neared the door to leave, this one a male stood tall with short spiked blond hair and odd yellow eyes his body quite well built with obvious muscles visible in more places than one.

"Yeah, only comes out at night. What a waste of time." Replied the second one with a sigh of obvious frustration, this one was similar to his companion except he was shorter while his spiked hair was a deep black and the air around him was more commanding than his friend.

Both crashed through the door with the same finesse they had displayed upon entry earning them a second round or glares, as the door swung shut with a resounding bang due to the blond one holding the door out all the way before releasing it the greenhouse air of quiet returned much to the relief of the students within. Naturally not a single student didn't know what they had meant during their visit as ever student seemed to now be a little on edge with the occasional look over their shoulders on occasion, whatever was going on in the greenhouse it obviously had grounds enough to have most of the student body informed as well as worried about it... after all where there was smoke there was naturally normally fire.

Rika was in her element as she stood next to her friend and quietly but diligently helped her with several problems associated with their alchemy class which Rika had struggled through earlier, this was something she had found she excelled at since she didn't simply give her friend the answer she simply helped explain what she was doing wrong to solve them which brought a sigh of frustration from the girl.

"I had thought of that earlier, I just couldn't get it to work because my quantities were off." She whispered quietly her dark brown hues looking up into Rika's deep blue both sharing a silent grin, the girl quickly turned back to working on the problems as Rika watched on.

"I spend so much time around the students in the greenhouse I know most of the quantities from them, talk to one of the herbalists sometime they can tell you almost anything when it comes to amounts of something." Rika whispered back earning her a quiet chuckle from her friend, Rika liked helping people with their work as she had always found she had a knack for making this sound easier to solve.

The sound of someone pulling the door open a little too hard reverberated throughout the entire library disturbing almost everyone inside, for her friend however this signaled that she should be leaving as she glanced up at the nearby clock and did a double take before scrambling to collect all her books and notes. Nodding quietly to Rika who understood the girls urgency took the nodding as a thank you and a good bye wrapped into one, Rika remained standing till her friend disappeared from sight before returning to her corner and slowly lowering herself back into where she had been sitting earlier her hand hesitating a moment over the book she had been enjoying.

"One more page.." She whispered quietly to herself quietly before hefting the book into her hands, she found her page rather quickly and after only a few words she was instantly swept back in blissfully unaware of just who had made so much noise at the door.

One person who did know who had slammed the door so loudly was Lily who had been on the other side of the library when she had heard the noise, moving at her usual leisurely pace which was not a run but not quite a walk would put her in the foyer where the door lay in a matter of moments since her work had been on the 1st floor. She was quick to capture Augustus's attention and direct his attention from there towards the sign next to the 'NO LOUD TALKING' sign which read 'NO LOUD NOISES EITHER' which naturally meant the signs had been made by the same person, after making sure he had seen the signs Lily promptly turned on heel to return to her work which was waiting for her. The glares of several others also lingered for a few moments before returning to what they had each been up too, the silence returned quickly and it was left to wonder if everyone was naturally being quite or if they were all keeping quiet so as not to draw the wrath of the head librarian who obviously had no qualms about enforcing her signs.
