[FTD: 2 / Round 2] Ventis Victorine vs Cam'Mia Nichole

    Ventis Victorine
    Spoiler:
    Name: Ventis Victorine
    Age: Early to mid twenties
Height: Roughly six feet, give or take a few inches
    Weight: 150-160lbs.
Appearance: Ventis is not as his legends would suggest. He is of middling height and middling weight- perhaps a touch too thin for most sensibilities. He is lithe, rather than muscular, though he is corded with the thick, ropy muscle of someone who has spent most of their life at the sword rather than the plow. Aquiline features highlight an otherwise-narrow face, and his grey eyes are both unusual and striking.

Abilities: Spellbreaker Specialist: Ventis has studied magic from a young age- for the express purpose of defeating the metaphysical bonds that make up the warp and weave of what we call mana. He shapes neither elements nor energies- rather, Venties relies on a quick-and-dirty style of evocation that allows him to interject short bursts of energy into the complex forms and webs of a spell- if utilized properly, with deftness and alacrity, manipulating the core threads of magic allows Ventis to negate the effects of most spells- and in some cases, turn those effects back on the user.

Supernal Awareness: Ventis' years of specialized study have granted him a unique passive ability. He can tap into an extended awareness bred by years of close proximity to the mana, or the source of magical power. This allows him to recognize and identify the key elements of a spell being prepared or cast. It is important to realize that this essentially produces a schematic for Ventis to read- experience and skill are the defining factors in his understanding of the spell in question.

    Combat Proficiency: Long Swords: Excellent
    Shields: Excellent
    Short Swords: Good
    Greatswords: Fair
    Daggers: Poor
    Axes: Poor
    Hammers: Poor
    Polearms: Poor
    Whips: Poor

Equipment: Bulwark of Adramaos: A tower shield, roughly a foot and a half wide and nearly three feet in height. The shield itself is an ancient relic, worn and rusted with time. A flayed man, staked through hand and foot, is stretched across a bloody field in stark relief across the front of the shield- the arms of Adramaos, butcher king of legend. What makes this shield special is its unique enchantment- the shield does not so much block blows, as stop them. The Bulwark is special in that it absorbs the kinetic energy of any object that strikes it, immediately converting it to potential energy that is stored for use with the other pieces of Adramaos' ancient gear.

Vigilance of Adramaos: What energy the shield devours, when used in conjunction with the pitted, faded, cracked suit of plate that Ventis wears, is cycled constantly through the Vigilance as untapped potential energy, thereby giving Ventis the ability to move faster and strike harder as combat progresses.

Heartseeker: The companion blade to the Vigilance and Bulwark, Heartseeker is a simple, single-edged blade with a reinforced unbladed edge. The only special enchantment the sword possesses is simple fortification, to be able to withstand the increased potential and kinetic energy load granted by the armor and shield.

NOTE: Both armor and shield are old, and are not in peak condition. The shield has it's enchantment, but the armor is certainly not impenetrable protection.
    vs

    Cam'Mia Nichole
    Spoiler:
    Birth Name: Cam’Mia Nichole
    Used Name: Camia
    Alias(es): Silent One, Lady Camia
    Age: 250
    Visible age: 18
    Lineage: Once Human
    Class: Assassin
    Specialty: Martial Arts/Shadow
    -- Sub Class: Melee Fighter
    -- Sub Class: Rogue
    Alignment: Chaotic Good
    Marital Status: N/A
    Birthplace: Eden
    Languages: Elven, Common, and Drow
Weapons: Vengeance: The primary weapons for Camia. These weapons are two identical bartucs, which are similar to two claw shaped katars. The bartucs are consisted of two feet blades that curve at the end and flow downwards, so that they are able to grip what they catch onto and either slash, rip, or hang. They are steamed with a vampiric power, that allows Camia, to drain the life force out of a victim Camia has murdered. The claws drain the life force as well as the remaining life span the victim would have had, until Camia killed them. Camia is than able to turn that life force and soul into a healing power, to regain her strength.

Nichole’s Merciless: A wrist bracer that Camia wears on both arms. It is able to shoot out a thin wire of imbued steel with a tiny blade at the end. Camia was once known for wrapping this around an unobservant victim’s neck and choking the life out of them. The wire, for as thin as it is, has increased durability, the strength as any weapon, for it can block weapons and is very resistant to being cut.

Equipment: Shroud of Stealth A shroud that gives the bearer the ability to be the blend in perfectly with the area, camouflage the bearer. At night, or in the presence of shade or darkness, the wearer gains an increase amount of stealth, and shadow stepping.
Twin Anklets of Cat Reflexes: An anklet placed on both of Camia’s ankles that gives the bearer extra balance, speed, and reflexes.
Necklace of Selena: A gift given her by Selena ages ago. The necklace is able to reflect a considerable amount of magic from offensive spells and store them, converting the mana into a magic shield to protect the bearer.
Boots of Shadow Speed: Gives Camia, extra speed while running in either Night, shade, or darkness. Allows Camia to walk up a shadowed wall if need be.

    Height: 5'7”
    Weight: 124
    Hair Color: Blond
    Hair: Long and mostly braided
    Eye Color: Golden
    Handed: Ambidextrous
    Skin Tone: White

    Strength: Agility
    Blood Type: A Pos
    Primary Residence: Eden
Magical Abilities: Although Cam'Mia does not care for the art of magic, through her family's name she had learned the art of Shadow magic. Using Darkness to aid in her fight in both offensive and defensive capabilities. Because of her limited knowledge of magic, Cam'Mia uses minimal magic during a fight, and most of the time uses her magic skills to aid in her own fighting prowess, ie summoning shade under her feet so that she can move faster in it's presence.
Innate Abilities: Vampiric Claws: Camia had once killed an Immortal, draining the being out of it’s life force. By doing so, it prolonged Camia’s life to that of the lifespan of a Drow or High Elf. By slowing down her lifespan, Camia has been able to serve her family unquestionably.
Blood Magic- Possessed by few arcanic powers, Camia is a blood relative of Selena. As blood is shed by Camia, it induces a magic rage, similar to that of a berserker, making her faster and stronger.
Eyes of Shadow: Gives Camia, Ordinary sight in darkness.
Animalistic Reflexes: An increased sense of awareness and reflexes.

Camia, one of the youngest of the family, was respected for her talents in melee fighting. What she lacked in brute strength, she made up in her cunning, and lighting fast attacks. Although lacking severely in the art of magic, Camia never quit, becoming an assassin of her day. Selena had enticed her to embrace this calling, becoming the silent hand that would stop harm that presented itself to the family from the shadows. In turn, Selena gave Camia a present, a single necklace treasured by the family. It gave Camia the edge to compete with that of her greater family and thus making her a deadly opponent. Thanking her cousin, Camia strives to train in her skills, serving her family with all loyalty.

    ~*~ Cam’Mia Nichole ~*~

So her opponent had disappeared. What a shame, she was starting to have fun too. A sort of a port came across Cam’Mia’s face as she continued on her journey, searching for the city of Tia. It seems that this city but be a lost one, for everyone she had passed knew nothing of it. This was disgustingly ill in Cam’Mia’s favor. What pissed her off the most was that her previous opponent just vanished with no reply or even a good bye. Cam’Mia sighed then, as she knew she would have to report her abduction of that man a failure. Failure did not come easy to Cam’Mia. She did not fail and that was the end of it. She would hunt down that man, until she captured him, until she had him bound and hung upside down. A price was paid and a contract was made of blood and death. She would have nothing less than his capture.

However, she could not focus on the past anymore. The present and future is what awaited her. It had been some time since she fought her last man. Half a day, and the sun was rising. Cam’Mia hated the sunlight, but she regardless stuck to the shadows of the forest, moving in between the shade. It took but a second for her to lift her hands, and placed a black mask over her face, covering her nose down to her neckline, revealing only her golden cat eyes. The mask’s purpose, was not only to conceal her looks and her identity, but to diffuse certain elements in the air, so that she did not have to breath them in, such as dust, sand, or even poison. It would filter her air way, making her movements unaffected by the upcoming terrain. The sunlight was rather annoying, and Cam’Mia realized that she made another note to herself of how ridiculous light really was. Most people used it to see, but what they did not know, is that you can train yourself to see in the dark. It took years but, it is a very useful tool.

Leaning back against a tree, Cam’Mia noted how thick the forest was. Trees grew in random locations, and most of them were about three to about fifteen feet apart. They were large and thick, with most of the trees edged with healthy branches, wide enough to hold a human body, if that human’s balance was good. It was definitely an awe to stare at.

The fact of the matter was, Cam’Mia was tired of the sunlight and thus, she would fix it. She felt a sense of magic build up inside of her, a magic she had not tapped into for quite some time. It was rare for Cam’Mia to use magic, but it was not impossible. A dark magic began to form around Cam’Mia’s hands drawing strength from the remaining of the fleeting darkness of the night. It would take a moment before Cam’Mia’s spell was complete especially since it had been so long. For a normal caster, a person who uses magic everyday, the spell would probably have been simple, but for Cam’Mia who really didn’t use such spells, it took a lot of her focus. She could feel the rage of her blood magic fueling the fire, as she looked to her left, seeing the small mark in which a pebble from the previous fight she fought had nicked her skin and drew blood. The wound, unnoticeable by a weak eye, held no pain and no draw backs to her fighting prowess, still had some blood remaining on the top of her shoulder, desperately trying to clot. When blood was drawn from a Nichole, the wound is slow to heal on its own, a lot slower than normal humans, because of her blood magic.

It wanted to come out and play, it wanted to rage and enhance the bearer of it’s genetics, but to have it activated constantly for long periods of time, took strength from the wearer and in the end would kill the bearer’s soul. Good thing for Cam’Mia the cut was small so it limited how much Cam’Mia could use her innate ability.

So there Cam’Mia stood, in the shadows of the forest, with the sun rising, focusing deeply on a spell that would affect her travels.

((I sincerely apologize, but I am going to have to respectfully withdraw from this tournament. I appreciate the opportunity, but I simply do not have the time, energy, and inspiration to continue with this project. I need to pick my battles and focus on other projects at hand.

Again, I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. To Selena Nichole, I wish you the best of luck in your next match.))

The faint scent of blood drifted through stoic evergreens to find a pair of nostrils that should not, under any circumstances, be able to recognize it.

However, as Ventis Victorine drew in a breath, the unmistakable tang of copper and iron twinged the back of his throat. It reminded him of the girl, vaporized in a grass field, and for a moment the spellbreaker's stomach churned.

The note had been under his pillow this time; staying at an inn nearby, Ventis was all at once excited to be called to action again, and sorrowful for the blood he would be forced to shed.

    Another waits.

The forest will be their grave.

He had sat for some time on the edge of the bed, scanning the note with eyes still thick with sleep. A hand scrubbed back through unruly locks, slid down the sides of a narrow face. He slapped his cheeks once, twice with both palms, and then began to dress himself for battle. He began with simple white cotton breeches, wrapped from his knee to his ankle in soft, padded cloth. A shirt of similar make and color came next, padded through the chest and shoulders, the sleeves reinforced at the elbows. He began to fit the Vigilance to his frame, threading laces and pulling tight leather straps. When he was ready, he stood in a clank of metal and came round the other side of the bed. His shield and sword leaned against a dresser- the flayed man staked over the arms of the Bulwark seemed to smile at Ventis' in his merry, blood soaked way.

With his mind choked with thoughts of death, Ventis strapped on his blade and took up his shield. The forest was not far; it would not take him long to arrive.

When he did, he made no attempt to hide his approach. Twigs snapped and popped underfoot as he trode through the forest swathed in darkness. The sun was just beginning to rise- as night fled and sunlight began filtering through the heavy branches and thick copse of trees, Ventis raised his face to greet it, squinting.

He breathed deeply. Mana was thick here; as it always was in places that were full of life. The spellbreaker had the faint impression that were he to reach out, to swipe his hand through the air, he would feel resistance.

But his hands stayed at his sides, and as the warrior breathed, his awareness spread. The metaphysical essence that was Ventis began to seep through the concentrations of energy that hovered just beyond mortal ken- beginning in a circle with a diameter of five feet, the level of saturation would steadily increase now that he had unleashed it. His eyes began to sparkle, energy crackling behind grey flats.

Dimly, off in the distance, he sensed magic. His jaw set, lips pressed back into the same grave line that had spelled death for his previous opponent. Gauntleted fingers slid around the hilt of Heartseeker; tensed and drew. Blade naked in his hand, Ventis moved deeper into the woods.

Hopefully he wouldn't have to kill any women this time.

    ~*~ Cam’Mia ~*~

    It was ready…

Cam’Mia slapped her hands together, creating one single black orb. She released her spell, allowing the black orb to float before her. It hovered as if it had a mind of it’s own, and as Cam’Mia reached out to touch it, the orb flew high into the sky. The orb itself was made of pure shadow, fueled by blood magic. It would hover seven hundred meters above the ground. Cam’Mia looked up, leaning her back against a tree, observing the orb carefully. As the orb reached it’s pinnacle of height, a small amount of dark mist began to emit from the orb. In seconds the sky was filled with an over looming black cloud a Black Mist, and Cam’Mia knew, by the end of a mere five minutes, the mist would consume the whole forest, covering it in a blanket of shadow. Just by the initial spreading, the mist covered a fifth of the forest, shadowing the area in which Cam’Mia stood, and as time went by, it would grow and grow, until the source of it’s creation either died or released it.

Cam’Mia took a deep breath of darkness as she lowered her eyes. She looked over to her shoulder and noticed her small cut. It was close to be covered, but a little help never hurt anyone. Licking her right finger, she placed it over her small wound and applied pressure, keeping her finger roughly upon it. Her body then went to a crouch behind the tree, as she heard a snap of a twig. Perhaps it was yet another adventurer, trying to make something of themselves, and at worse, it was perhaps her second opponent. Her breathing slowed to a minimal as she began to concentrate, her eyes piercing the created shadow and searching. She saw him….a man, a man with a sword.

Cam’Mia did not move but she watched, using the tree as a step between him and her. This man was dangerous, very dangerous. She sensed it. Cam’Mia ran through the images of her targets in her head, and by the way the man moved, and by the details of his sword by eyesight, Cam’Mia knew this to be one of her targets. She could feel his strength, but regardless it would not dissuade her on capturing this man, and by worse events end up killing him. It was clear that he was hunting her, but was she the one to be hunted or is it that he is the hunted. Between these two, who was the predator, and who was the prey?

Cam’Mia smiled dangerously as she realized that they both would soon find out, and very soon.

Awareness had spread, and now Ventis was intimately familiar with a circle fifteen feet across. Magic filtered through his vision as light- the girl was like a beacon, crouched beneath a tree, her weapons and most of her armor cast into stark relief as interconnecting webs of magic that wreathed them glowing brightly, demanding his attention and rendering utterly useless the darkness filtering through the canopy. This, too, was artificial, and the spellbreaker stretched out his senses, questing for the source of the inky, flowing dark.

He searched quickly, loath to turn his attention from his target for some time; but ah, she though herself hidden, did she not?

He would allow her to labor under the misconception for a while longer. He knew her position intimately; Ventis turned his back to the assassin and cast his metaphysical sense, his second sight, out in a wide arc about him. The source of the magic reverberated faintly somewhere above him. So, she had placed her source beyond his influence. It mattered little- the magic itself was all around him, and the more he studied it the closer he came to its true purpose.

So too did a detached part of him begin to study the varied and brightly-glowing items that she wore. The blades he recognized immediately- their magicks spoke of a dark intent, of vitality consumed. Vampiric, then. The necklace, by nature, was a bit more difficult to discern. It affected magic in some way, likely with some form of absorption or shield... this would take a bit longer to puzzle out, as would the black mist that began to seep through the forest. The shroud, boots, and... what were those? Anklets? Simple physical fortification spells.

As he considered, he inhaled deeply. Energy coalesced into being; rushed into his nostrils and mouth like air. He began drawing deeply on the mana that suffused the forest- as he did so his skin began to glow, as if lit from within by azure might. In time, the magic would begin to leak free of his pores, curling to the sky in ethereal blue smoke. So too did his eyes leak puissance; when he turned and faced the assassin directly, standing eleven feet away, energy poured from his mouth like flame when he spoke.

"I see you, girl. Come out and face me. There is no escape, and I would prefer not to be forced to hunt you through this abominable forest to end your life."

    Prey, certainly.

    The girl was prey.

    ~*~ Cam'Mia ~*~

The Dark Mist soon covered more than half of the forest, clearly consuming where Cam’Mia and now her opponent stood with a thick fog, and with each minute it was only getting larger and thicker. It provided darkness to the arena in which Cam’Mia and her opponent fought. Its level one purpose was to block out outside light, but as it grew stronger, the forest became saturated with a black fog that would not only create perfect darkness but it would also hinder light sources made in it’s area of effect. The fog itself would surround any source of light, and limit it’s illumination to a one foot diameter. That was the essence of Black Mist mixed with Blood Magic. It would only thicken as time passed and expand until Cam’Mia stopped it. The Time of Darkness was almost truly complete.

Her devilish smile continued to fancy her beautiful face. Being that Cam’Mia’s area was covered by darkness, this man dared stand a mere eleven feet away from her? Sometimes people misconstrued strength with arrogance, and when that arrogance affects judgment a price will always be paid. Cam’Mia strongest asset was her speed. Not only was her speed unimaginably fast in daylight, it was deathly haunting in shadow. Cam’Mia was definitely the prey, but even prey learn to fight back and set their own traps.

The man would speak, but as his first words left his mouth, Cam'Mia figure was gone from sight. Perhaps he could track her, perhaps not. It mattered not, for Cam'Mia did not fade or disappear. She did not teleport or vanish. The answer was simple. Her body was on the move, and by the shadows, she moved with a haunting and dangerous speed. The wind parted as her form turned into a blur of a shadow taking a right direction. Not only was she fast, but she was silent about it. Not even a breaking of a twig marked her movements. Even to trained eyes it would seem as if she simply vanished. She could have gone left or she could have circled around him going right, either way it did not matter, for she ended up just where she wanted to be…Behind him. As the man finished his sentence, she appeared a mere five feet from him, in between two trees directly behind the man her momentum halting just a bit as she curved around one of the two trees she stood between..

However, when she hit that five foot mark, two soft clicks resounded across the forest simultaneously. The first was Cam'Mia's bartucs clipping into place on both of her hands. The second click ejected two blades from her bracers that were attached to two magical enhanced wires, which aimed at vital parts of the man's body. The left blade aimed at the man's left side of his neck, where one of his cardiac arteries laid beneath skin and muscle and of course, the blade was dripping with a poison that would cause the man to lose his vision for three minutes if it made contact with his blood. Although Cam‘Mia aimed for his cardiac, to reach it from behind a victim was very hard indeed. More than likely if it did connect it would merely stab the man in the back of the neck, either stabbing the man’s trapezius muscle or nicking the man‘s left stemodeidomastoid muscle. The right blade aimed at the mid section of the man‘s back favoring the right side, its blade coated with a poison that would cause her opponent’s muscles to relax and slowly grow weaker in a matter of ten seconds. The effects would last three and a half minutes, if the blade contacted with blood. Where this blade hit did not matter for the man had less than seconds before he would find himself in a very bad position, far worse than where he was at the present.

When she moved, Ventis didn't turn to follow. He had no reason to; his awareness of her movements had precisely nothing to do with sight. Her influence had spread- so had his, and now as she moved the metaphysical sense that allowed him to tap into the essence of magic tracked her unerringly. Her mist was useless even in dampening his sight; the "light" that her enchantments gave off was not a true light. It did not exist in the physical realm- it was merely that his brain processed the overlaid input of his supernal awareness as "light". She was like a streak of brilliance in the darkness.

As she began to run, he continued to draw power- five brilliant motes of light blossomed around his form. They danced like ebullient sprites, coming into being as she reached the point in her running arc that would place her at his left elbow. Finally, he turned.

    She dashed.

Twin clicks drew his attention; he watched as her vampiric blades snapped home. He felt- through the mana-saturated air -rather than saw the wires.

Ventis snorted derisively, and simply raised his shield. A three-foot tower, the Bulwark was more than enough cover to protect both his neck and- now- his abdomen. The blades struck the shield; robbed of their kinetic energy, they dropped uselessly to the loam. The spellbreaker stepped back, his shield held out from his body at the full extension of his arm. Deadly points of light whipped around his form, growing steadily brighter against the miring influence of her blood magic. His blade he held at a slight angle, forming a triangle with the Bulwark and Heartseeker, creating a cone of defense covering an area three feet in front of him.

Over the edge of the shield, grey eyes narrowed. Mana surged in roils through him now- his energy suffused a significant amount of her darkness as well. In the split seconds before she would make her next move, understanding finally clicked in his mind. Haste, he thought, studying the floating darkness with a detached part of himself. That's what the signature of her boots meant; that was why they were reacting so strangely together.

Endogenous magic was difficult to pierce, but it would be done. Ventis allowed himself a small smile as he stood, right foot forward, facing his opponent.

    ~*~ Cam'Mia ~*~

And So the Black Mist continued to grow, deafening and blinding the area with a thick magical fog. The more energy the man seemed to put out that caused illumination, the worse the mist got. It was made to focus on light, and pour over it, concealing illumination back to a mere foot diameter. Now that the mist descended upon the forest, it’s magic only grow stronger. Would it be unwise for a being to continue to use more magic to suppress a raging ocean? It was illogical and pointless.

So the man had tracked her, with out even looking. He did not see her physically by eye sight, and he could not hear her, except for two soft clicks. The clicks though, if he indeed heard it, still did not give him time enough to block her attack, but yet he did. The only other logical reasoning was that this man was able to track her by magic. That was how he could see her through the tree and that was how he knew where she was. However, his mental sight, was soon to be at an end.

Time seemed to slow, as Cam’Mia seemed to be in slow motion. Several things happened in such a short amount of time, while her body continued to be fueled by the shadows in which she stood. The first point happened when the magical fog completely descended. It’s mist was not a mere fog created by nature. It was fueled by magic and blood magic to enhance it‘s effect greatly. In essence, every speck of the mist, was filled with magic, for it was created by magic and owned by magic. True this made the mist more susceptible for this anti mage to break, but it’s purpose was clear and to the point. If this man saw magic as light in his mind then not only would he see Cam’Mia’s form but he would also see the whole entity of the mist. Cam’Mia deduced that he would see nothing but a overbearing bright blinding light in his mind, which meant that Cam‘Mia‘s own form would be concealed by this factor, making his ability to track her completely eradicated while the Black Mist was present. In essence, because of the strength of the growing mist, and the fact that it was thickening as time went by would only enhance the very light the man saw in his mind. Truth be told, if this man’s “Third Eye” or magically attuned vision was how he was able to track her, he would find himself more than likely blinded, and to use his own eyes, would be to stare only into darkness except of course for that small illumination he created for himself.

“Click” was the sound of Cam’Mia’s blades hitting the shield. Cam’Mia noticed the kinetic energy was taken from her blades for it did not bounce as it should have, it merely fell to the ground, which was indeed was a trap in itself. Cam’Mia took one silent step to her left, as the blades began to fall to their deathly descent to the ground. With a flick her wrists, the magically imbued wires reacted like a snake and took on the attributes and properties of a Puff Adder, given the blades a striking speed of .25 of a second, as well as the movement of eight to ten mph. The left blade upon hitting the ground, came to life and bounced up using the kinetic energy it gained by gravity. The left blade curved up and around the exterior of the shield’s right side without touching it. Upon moving around the shield, the blade was at the waist line height, and struck forward, with the force of a Puff Adder. The left blade would be aiming at the man’s right inner neck where his cardiac artery was. If he crouched down, he risked being struck in the face, while if he raised his body, he risked being struck in his collar bone and if he backed up, he risked all. The length of the magical wire was no set length, for it would extend until it met it’s purpose. While in retrospect, the right blade, did the same thing, but instead of going up and around, it traveled at a wide right arc and behind the man moving with a fierce speed, striking at the man’s lower back with the same attributes as the other blade, with enough force and precision to penetrate skin, and slip simple padded defenses and leathers.

With the blades being with in close proximity, and with the hindrance of the man’s “magic” vision, Cam’Mia would sourly doubt he would see this attack coming, and if he did, she didn’t see how he could evade both of the attacks. While these blades attacked, Cam”Mia was moving silently in the background, making sure she didn’t stay in one spot to long moving to her opponent’s three o’ clock.

The blades attached to the magically-imbued wires were too quick for even Ventis' charged reflexes to avoid completely. He did jerk back; this was reflexive, and hardly under his control. The blade buried itself in his collarbone; when the poison coursed through his veins, his vision went black. He cursed, but his right hand- still holding Heartseeker- shot up reflexively.

As the right blade met plate again and reflected off uselessly, he snatched the wire.

His left arm lifted the Bulwark- being a punch shield, and lacking a strap, he held it only at the grip, and therefore it covered his entire torso and the lower half of his face when he shifted his left arm - held fully extended - slightly to the right. The motes of light collapsed back into his form as he did this; the spellbreaker was briefly limned with cerulean might before he unleashed it with a terrific crack.

By piercing his skin with a wire imbued with magical energy, she had given the Spellbreaker a direct conduit to the web of the enchantments that worked together- and that she wore all over her body. The energy that he had gathered bolted down the newly-created conduit, ripping through enchantment as it went.

When it struck, for it was nearly as fast as a surge of electricity, the master counter-mage's caustic mana would tear through the enchantments that she wore, detonating each piece in small, compressed explosions of savage power- both hers and his, striking at her ankles, feet, neck, hands, wrists, and back (Presumably? Wherever the shroud is, to clarify) as his trump card, the Spell Shatter, struck home.

Additionally, the charge was of the same destructive force that all the magic he wielded was- by it's very nature, and the pussiance of its untamed force, the base elements of his magic was designed to rip through defensive magics, destroying the weft and weave with sheer brute force- and detonating it with deadly effects. As the counter attack launched, this exogenous trait was released into the atmosphere. The suffusion of his energy turned caustic- spread throughout the mist as it was, and as powerful as it had grown, his residual energy would easily begin to devour the mist, to subvert its base elements and break it down into formless magic, with no purpose or direction.

    This process was gradual.

    Off topic:
Supernal Awareness [3] becomes Caustic Supernal Awareness [3]; a suffusion of wild magic, Ventis' exogenous energy, reacting to the blastoff of his Spell Shatter, begins to break down the structure and form of other exogenous magical effects. It destroys nothing; Merely neuters the spell and casts the magic free of control. The effect will be complete in three turns. Prerequisite to certain techniques.
Spellbreaker Specialist [2] + Caustic Spiritual Awareness [Sequential] = Spell Shatter [3]; Ventis has unleashed this gathered caustic raw mana into the conduit that Selena has provided by piercing his skin with a magically imbued item within the proximity of the rough "web" of her enchantments for a three-prep Spell Shatter. The structural integrity of each item is not harmed, but the complex currents of mana within them overload and detonate as compressed explosions in the target areas.

    Spoiler:
    Two things happened at once.

As the blades fell to the loam, the motes of light, their brilliance swallowed by the black mist, surged forward. They traveled at a speed far surpassing her magical whips; as she whipped her wrist to bounce the first off the ground, they had already surrounded her. The cerulean essence that suffused him was raging now; so much power that it was difficult for him to control, though control it he did. The motes flared brightly- an effect that would, for the most part, go unappreciated in the black mist.

Ventis had closed his eyes some few seconds ago. He no longer had any need for sight- however, his awareness now subsumed a sphere of fully forty-five feet in diameter. He did not "see" the blows.

He did not have to. Her largest mistake was to assume that the spellbreaker relied on visual acuity.

As soon as they moved, as soon as they budged one fraction of an inch from the ground, he felt it as intimately as one would feel a lover's caress. Physical sight was gone- what made the girl's attacks useless was the very magic that she had suffused everything with. He did two things at once- as they lashed upwards, Ventis slid himself backwards and to the right. He felt every second of the blade's approach- sliding between them as they came was a simple thing, especially bolstered with the minor amount of kinetic force that he applied devastatingly to his escape.

Even as he did this, he unleashed his power. Before she had a chance to move, or react to the motes surrounding her (as the two attacks had occurred almost simultaneously), the flare of brilliance previously mentioned collapsed in on itself. Arranged around her like the five points of a pentagram, but at varying heights and angles, the massive blast of power that surged from Ventis manifested as five white-hot beams of pure compressed mana, blasting inwards towards the center, and their target- the vulnerable flesh of the lightly-armored woman. This was no simple throwaway- Ventis had been gathering energy for almost the entirety of the conflict.

Additionally, the beams were of the same destructive force that all the magic he wielded was- by it's very nature, and the pussiance of its untamed force, the base elements of his beams were designed to rip through defensive magics, destroying the weft and weave with sheer brute force. As the beams launched, this exogenous trait was released into the atmosphere. The suffusion of his energy turned caustic- spread throughout the mist as it was, and as powerful as it had grown, his residual energy would easily begin to devour the mist, to subvert its base elements and break it down into formless magic, with no purpose or direction.

This process was gradual, but it was all moot regardless. She had few avenues of escape- the assassin would die here.

Spellbreaker Specialist [2] + Caustic Supernal Awareness [Sequential] = Three-prep Omni Beams; In addition to their speed and the spread of the attack, Ventis has condensed the usual eight-star constellation to amplify the magic-destroying powers of his Omni Beams. Charged as they are, unless met with an extraordinarily powerful force, they will destroy any magical effects they come into contact with.

    ~*~ Cam’Mia ~*~

And so the fight continued. Her first blade struck the man in his collar bone, shedding blood, while the other was deflected by the man’s sword. The blade however that broke skin, stayed with in the man‘s skin, just above its collar bone. However as he began to deflect her right blade with his sword, Her body shot forward, the integrity of her fighting skills would not allow her body to rest and wait, even after her eyes pin pointed the blood she had spilt. Five feet was all she had to move, and the shortness of the distance combined with her reflexes and speed mixed with all her imbued items was painfully not at her opponent’s favor.

As she ran forward ,Cam’Mia, now less than two and a half feet away from her oppoent, caught eyes on deception. The blade that the man had deflected he caught instead, and Cam’Mia knew this would be bad. This was based on strategy, for Cam’Mia was a Melee fighter who depended on quickness and lighting fast reflexes to do the work for her. To be bound to a man by wire, was something Cam’Mia would not have, for no fighter who lack an element of heightened strength would ever allow themselves to be victims of their own weapons. Also based upon the fact that he already proved that he was able to see her based upon magic enchantments Cam‘Mia already assumed that holding a direct link to Cam‘Mia to the man would be highly ill advised.

It was because of that, that Cam’Mia during mid stride did several things at once. First she brought her left arm across her chest in an small outward and upwards diagonal direction, (her left palm facing the direction of her body) and latching her left hand fingers around the under straps of her right wrist bracer, while simultaneously her right hand gripped her the under straps of her left wrist bracer (Her right palm facing her opponent), making sure not to stab herself with her own weapons; and with a quick and painful jerk, broke the straps. Now this caused her arms to push out in an X by the tension she gave, and by doing so severing her link to the man, and giving him a rather decent gift of his own magic by sending the main components of her wrist bracers at the man’s shield. The left wrist bracer, whose blade was the one that was block by the sword, would more than likely explode a millisecond before it reached the man’s shield while the right bracer would unfortunately touch the man’s shield, allowing that shield’s own enchantment to destroy it’s kinetic energy leaving the bracer to slide down the shield, but in doing so, would open up the man’s power to be used on himself, thus possibly destroying his own shield and enchantment

Secondly Cam’Mia’s right foot then dug into the ground and she lowered her body weight, which in result curved her momentum to the left and down. By using the muscles of her right leg and shifting her weight, Cam’Mia’s body went into a sideway roll to her left, sticking as low to the ground as possible.

To explain the man was going to blow her up, using her own magically imbued wires as a link to the rest of her body‘s enchantment. In essence Cam’Mia merely broke her own gear because having a link to an opponent whose power she truly did not know was suicide for any fighter. By her arms moving in an outwards x, would send her duel wrist bracers straight back at the man.

You see being that she less than two and a half feet away, her momentum also curving to the left, would send the bracers awkwardly at the man’s shield, favoring his right side. Being that she was so close, it would be safe to assume her left bracer would more likely blow up before it struck the shield, for the man deflected the blade, causing the five foot wire to be shorter than anticipated, while the right bracer would touch the man’s shield just as it blew up, for it’s wire (in which the magic was traveling) would have been a tab bit longer than five feet, because initially the blade by passed the man’s guard and struck him in the collar bone and he Jerked back.

Being that this man was trying utilize his own magic to detonate enchantments, it should be safe to assume that if the right bracer touches the man’s shield, not only would the bracer blow up, but the man’s own magic would destroy his own shield and it’s enchantment as well.

Alright guys, I have emailed you both with questions regarding some of your posts. Thank you to Hiss for thoroughly explaining your Omnibeams to me, that was very much appreciated.

Selena, I was disappointed in your explanation for your bartucs. I do not play video games so I have no idea what they look like, and all you told me is they were in the Diablo 2. Granted, with your minimal description as far as its property goes, I took the liberty in looking this up for myself and only found a picture. I would hope for your sake, next time you will be a little more specific.

    First.

Hiss, I appreciate the way you wrote this. I like it, however I find a problem with the lack of detail. I can see you strapped on your blade, but where? On his back? On his hip? What about his shield? Which hand? Is his arm all the way through, or is he just holding on it with his hand to his body? This would have been nice to know for your opponent. It leaves room for a lot of interpretation when the fight actually begins. A note for the future, my friend.

You start to move in on him while he speaks, okay I get it. You move five feet from behind him, okay I can get that. However, this is where the problem starts. Being that you haven’t really explained your weapons, I find this hard to picture in my mind. Your first click, clips the bartucks onto her hands.

They clip onto her hands? Where the heck did they come from? Were they not there before? I find it really hard picturing this. Moving on, the second click released two blades from her bracers.. where are her bracers? On her wrists? Being a reader, I have no idea what a bracer is. And really, with the timing and by continuing her forward momentum with this attack, I would think that these “two clicks” would have had to happen BEFORE she came upon him, in order to successfully carry out this attack. Because in that split second it would take to click whatever into place, I would find it extremely difficult to believe that she would have time to swing those blades out to attack him as you are explaining in your post, without physically running into him first.

I am however giving this to you, only due to the fact that Hiss did not do a counter attack, only blocked and took a step back. So it does not really change the outcome of the fight at this point.

Once again, I point out the shield. I still don’t know what hand the shield is in.

Your timing is off. This is impossible, you literally walked right into her attack. You’re character would have been hit. There for the rest of your attack is null and void.

My vote is for Selena in this.

I request that Hiss either redo the post, or take the hit and then find a way to counter and attack.

This will also null out the last two posts in this thread. Selena’s will have to rewrite a new post according to Hiss's new post.

Apologies for the extra work ladies and gents ;)

His face screwed up in frustration as the girl reacted with both alacrity and agility- the speed of his explosions would, in fact, exceed the speed of his reflexes. However, an explosion of caustic mana, hurled back at its originator, was not nearly so mighty as one would think.

Especially when hurled at the bearer of the Bulwark and Vigilance. The bracer struck his shield as he tore the blade free of his collarbone and cast it aside. The explosion reacted strangely, expanding into a sphere flattened where it contacted the shield. Ventis' energy sparked madly, then burst, spreading in violent rivulets through the grooves etched in his armor, surging from the plate of incandescence that was his shield.

At the same time, he thrust his right hand, bearing Heartseeker, to the sky. The blade acted like a lightning rod as the caustic mana suffused with his awareness rapidly compressed from the loose sphere it had formed whilst devouring her enchantment. The loose mana the decay process had freed swirled with his power- surging down the blade of his sword to compress the massive amount of power and shove it into the Vigilance, hypercharging the suit of armor with the two sources of energy.

How irritating, to be pushed to this. To be driven back, denied again and again. To be forced to unleash this upon a woman he did not know; in the crystalline seconds before his stroke manifested, Ventis ground his teeth.

He burst into shining cerulean light; that same light swiftly reformed, plates of solid compressed caustic fury that overlaid the Vigilance like a second suit of armor- and in fact covered where the aged plate did not, forming a helmet of white hot, crackling plates of mana. The ground scorched beneath Ventis' feet as he shifted within the Hypercharged Vigilance. Even Heartseeker, designed to work in conjunction with the armor and shield, was layered with raging, caustic energy. It thrummed, tearing violently at the air, and his awareness suffused every inch of it.

The girl was like a beacon two feet away, and he was upon her in an instant. The Bulwark, now a sparking kite of four feet by two, preceded the howling gale of destruction as his outstretched arm fell. The compressed energy that formed the blade of Heartseeker lengthened- where once the blade was three, it now stretched to a full six feet as Ventis planted himself a foot from his opponent. At the speed he had transformed and moved, she would have risen from her roll a few scant seconds before.

The scything six foot blade fell diagonally, from high right to lower left, in a screamingly fast, hyper-accelerated slice that would shred through steel, enchantment, flesh, and bone as if paper. The sheer power of the condensed force was nearly like a condensed vaccum; it's descent was inevitable as the chill of quiet death.

    Off topic:
Caustic Supernal Awareness [3] + Shatter Explosion [Sequential] = four prep Vigilance: Hypercharge; The unique web of enchantments that Ventis employs has been triggered- the combined force of the caustic explosion and the extensive force of his collected awareness have been channeled through the Vigilance to overload the armor and trigger it's final form: A suit of compressed, volatile caustic mana, insulated by the combined power of Heartseeker, the Vigilance, and the Bulwark. The effect lasts three turns. Physical resistance is extreme, as is magical, due to the volatile and destructive nature of its composition.
