Formal Debate: Are roleplayers easy to entertain?

My assertion is as follows.

Entertaining roleplayers is simple; exhibiting skill in convincing another roleplayer that, in a combat situation, you have him outmatched—especially when he has nine teleporting queens—is rarely simple.

The counterpoint posited by Nate is as follows.

No, it isn't simple. Entertaining someone requires writing talent and the ability to mesh well with other players (with their personalities, concepts, styles, and etc.). Those are the only skills of value when it comes to writing with others.

Raw literary talent is not simple. It is something that has to be developed and honed for years on end. It's an art form, and like all forms of art, it must be extensively practiced and can never be mastered in any single lifetime.

A great author needs anywhere from twenty to forty years to hone his abilities to entertain the masses. A T1ist only needs four years of practice, tops, to be a great.

Comparatively, which is simple?

A face to face or voice to voice discussion would be entertaining, but all the beauties of debate are lost on the internet. A debate's only fun when there's rhetorical skill involved (the ability to think on your toes, be quick of wit, and retain calm collection no matter what), which is virtually non-existent on the internet.
