    Drákons: Generic Information

Since the beginning of time, depictions and drawings of this ancient and rare beast have been highlighted in a regal fashion -- nobility to the bitter end and some even to be the cruelest, most vile beings on the face of existence. A dragon (drákon) is typically thought of as a serpentine creature of epic proportions, can also be found as pets around the size of a common house cat of this age.

Covered from toes to tail in scales that vary in density, rigidity, color, shape, and patterns, dragons have been the fantasy of every knight looking to score fame, every power-monger, looking to wield devastation, and every sage's dream -- looking to score the most awe-struck wisdom of their time. However, with this greatness -- comes the exact opposite.

The reason these legendary beasts are most remembered is because of the tenacious devastation they brought about to various regions of the globe. Each culture they lived in shows them differently, however all of them reveal the 'bad-side' to these mammoth, armored snakes. Various shades usually determine what breed the Dragon is and what it is capable of. Many have died at the claws of dragons, bringing back the information we have to day in tatters and pieces, for these grandiose reptiles prefer to remain hidden and reclusive.

Explained below are the separations of breeds based on regions. We find that like many other animals: mammals, aviaries, reptiles, and even fish -- dragons come in various evolved shapes and sized based on their environments. The bulkier dragons we see, the one's with the girthier forms, harder and larger heads, and generally the more tenacious breeds come from Terrenus; these we call the Western Dragons.
The more elegant, slender breeds that are very-much docile and full of age-less wisdom are the Eastern Dragons; these are the snake-like figures most Asian cultures find themselves following, due to the calm mental focus and peace of mind that the reptile brings. The Eastern Dragons are found in Genesaris mostly, and tend to stray away from their more barbaric cousins in Terrenus, however it has been witnessed, for the sake of survival, the inter-breeding and mingling of the two hemi-sphere types to ensure trust, faith, fellowship, and preservation for eons to come.

    Ages

At stages in their lives, dragons shed scales, grow drastically, adapt to the status quo, and will learn new dragon-related skills when those times come. However, because none have ever really gotten to study dragons and how they age, it is hard to determine when these years occur and what times are best to approach them, learn from them, or even find them.

    Stages
    • Young - Hatchling to 50~ years
    • Adult - 50~ years to 250~ years
    • Elder - 250~ years to ???
    • Ancient - ??? to ???

    Dragon Types

    Dragon Species

The Dragon species within Terrenus are rather sizable compared to the Genesaris' Lung species of ancient reptiles and Exodyus has a prime mix of both styles, sorts, and types, depending on the region you are within, however they are all rare. Granted, in the next few chapters Lung and Miscellaneously categorized dragons will be explained, however let's say this -- just because the dragon doesn't appear within these listings, does not mean that it cannot be found here.

    Living
Much like birds, dragons migrate. Whether it be due to climate change or environmental changes, dragons are rather easy about relocating if it is truly required or they feel it is necessary. Some dragons are stubborn enough to never leave and end up being hunted, worked off, or even killed to get them out of the way. Usually these a dragons that have ties to the land or a maternal reason to stay; Earth dragons especially, they nest for generations.

    Personality
Personality is mostly determined on each individual dragon. There are some like the Ferrous Dragons whom are rather stuck up all the time, due to a superiority complex, however most dragons are poised for nobility and act as such, being that they can live several centuries. Nearly all dragons also will tend to look down on incompetence and ignorant races or species, not excluding humes.

    Chromatic Dragons
Chromatic dragons often find themselves in the negative limelight because of how reclusive they tend to be. This is not to say that there are a hand full who are not reclusive at all, and actually enjoy the company of other species or even other dragons of the same color/breed. In an 'off-color' way of putting it without the pun intended -- Dragons tend to be rather racist towards other species of dragons. They segregate often based on color and only a few of the breeds tend to get along without a hitch. Chromatics are often seen as Evil Alignments, but this seems to be just a stereotype against a breed, and not a fact-based find.

    Chromatic Breeds
    • Black - Negativity
    • Blue - Water
    • Green - Poison
    • Red - Fire
    • White - Ice
    • Purple - Vorpal
    • Brown - Earth
    • Grey - Sky

    Deity
Tiamat is typically considered the deity of chromatic dragons; however not all chromatic dragons believe or follow her as such.

    Metallic Dragons

Metallic dragons are normally found near large mountains or often found in search of actual precious metals. Stumbling upon a metal dragon is actually extremely fortunate, because they're normally generous enough to share a few trade secrets here and there, or even divulge in where to find the most precious selection of the requisite stone the miner is searching for! Often good natured and humble, metallics are considered some of the most friendly dragons out of all the species.

Metallic Dragons [Each dragon resides near it's metallurgic affinity.]
    • Brass
    • Bronze
    • Copper
    • Gold
    • Silver

    Deity
Bahamut is the deity of metallic dragons.

    Ferrous Dragons
Considering themselves to be at the hierarchy of the dragon empire, they're often used as emissaries or ambassadors for other species or tribes (because no one fools around when dragons are present). They often follow the letter of the law for all species and are familiar with nearly every rule to every species in the book, great for information situations, however they will always refer back to their own roots if there is ever a debate with crossing laws or issues. Loyalty only knows Laws with them.

Ferrous Dragons [Each dragon type has the ability to sense all metals; they often reside near their metallurgic affinity.]
    • Iron - Fire & Electric
    • Chromium - Ice & Freeze Crystals
    • Cobalt - Pulsing Magnetic Energy
    • Tungsten - Fire & Sand
    • Nickel - Corrosive Acid

    Deity
Gruaghlothor is the supreme ruler of the ferrous dragons.
