    Section 01 · Introduction [NTDT]

The following are the explicit Terms of Use of the RUIN source.

    I. Introduction
This thread ('Source' or 'the Source', henceforth) acts as the informational source of all threads acting as character profiles ('Profiles', henceforth) hosted currently on Valucre or to be hosted on Valucre, at its current location (http://www.valucre.com) or at any future location, that have been recognized by the author of this thread ('sunbreaker_', or any other identity by which I, the user in question, may come to be known; 'sunbreaker' or the 'Author' henceforth) as adhering in full legitimacy to the set of guidelines described hereinafter, thereby canonizing said Profiles as 'RUIN' Profiles (see Article IV).

    II. Purpose
This Source is a roleplaying auxiliary. Neither this Source nor any of the Profiles belonging to it aim to institute a system of rules and restrictions to freeform roleplay on Valucre. Use of this Source indicates acknowledgment of this fact and renders the Author exempt from any and all accusations of, similar to, or pertaining to the contrary.

The purpose of this Source is to promote validity between contributors to the collaboratively established canon of fictional events ('Roleplayers', henceforth), as they are represented on Valucre, and to facilitate ease of interaction between Roleplayers by assigning a dispensable battery of terms and procedures to preexisting roleplaying conventions which, when used in conjunction with one another, may better validate the freeform roleplaying process.

III. Use of RUIN Profile Template
Any current or former template which 'RUIN' Profiles are to match, as provided in Section 10, may be used in part or in full by any user of Valucre, free of any and all binding obligations, if and only if the user does not include the canonization indicator ('Indicator', henceforth) anywhere on, around, or in posts preceding or following the Profile utilizing the format, unless said Profile has been canonized.

Profiles that have been canonized as RUIN Profiles must be updated to reflect any changes necessitated by changes to the Source, and will be stripped of canonization pending such updates.

    IV. Canonization
A Profile is RUIN canonized ('Sanctioned', henceforth) if and only if it both includes the Indicator properly appended to its top and appears listed in Section 04. Roleplayers claiming a Sanctioned Profile that does not adhere to these conditions should contact the Author before acting further as the character corresponding with the Profile in question to prevent issues of legitimacy.

Canonization grants to Sanctioned Profiles and the Roleplayers owning them certain privileges reserved by the Author.

    V. Conclusion
Use of this Source indicates compliance with these Terms, both as they exist currently and in any future manifestation. Interaction with characters whose profiles belong to this Source indicates compliance with its purpose (Article II). Compliance with this purpose only indicates acknowledgment of the validity of the terms and procedures defined herein, and neither binds the reader to use of this Source nor in and of itself supplants the terms or procedures of any similar roleplaying auxiliaries.

Essentially, the above Terms explain that the RUIN source is a non-mandatory set of guidelines built to support roleplaying validity. The source is designed to mesh with characters that are not RUIN canonized. The RUIN source does not intend to impose upon, take advantage of, or in any way replace freeform conventions. Roleplayers who find the RUIN source in any way objectionable may safely ignore it.

    Contact me for further information.

Section 04 · Glossary of Materials [MTRL]

    ethergold.
    — substance composed wholly of ether that mimics what denizens of Paralleme believe to be the properties of gold. It carries the color of physical gold, but glows subtly. While it has been observed to contain massive quantities of ether in its natural state, it is rarely observed to collect the energy at all.

Ethergold is sometimes built into weapons and armor both as decorative trim and for boosts in metaphysical utility.

    ethergold · one component.
    — shift3 to the effect of non-physical manifestations.

    etheriron.
    — substance composed wholly of ether that mimics what denizens of Paralleme believe to be the properties of iron. Like most raw materials in Paralleme, etheriron takes on a very slight milky lavender tint in its natural state, and tends to collect and store ether in significant quantities.

Etheriron is particularly susceptible to imbuement and augmentation, especially during the smithing process. However, armor made of unaltered etheriron carries properties of its own.

    etheriron · one item.
    — shift1 to damage reduction; shift1 to any collection feat.
    etheriron · four items.
    — shift4 to damage reduction; shift4 to any collection feat; shift1 to any empathy feat.
    etheriron · seven items.
    — shift7 to damage reduction; shift7 to any collection feat; shift2 to any empathy feat; shift1 to any constitution bonuses.

Etheriron weaponry also carries inherent properties.

    etheriron · one component.
    — shift1 to weapon damage; shift1 to any collection feat.
    etheriron · three components.
    — shift3 to weapon damage; shift3 to any collection feat.

    meadowwisp.
    — flowering plant native to certain grasslands of Eden, named for its thin, fibrous, wispy appearance and pale blue, almost white color. A rare variant, nightwisp, is noted for its silk-like strength and completely black color.

    whiteloom.
    — cloth woven upon a loom considered blessed, often from meadowwisp fibers. Sheets of whiteloom cloth absorb latent energies, including light, but release none of them. When made into clothing or armor, whiteloom increases the wearer's sensitivity to energy.

    simple whiteloom · three items.
    — shift1 to damage reduction, shift1 to the bonus of any empathy feat.
    simple whiteloom · six items.
    — shift2 to damage reduction, shift2 to the bonus of any empathy feat.

    Section 10 · Appendix [PNDX]

    shift notation.
    — denotation of strength or amount of effect relative to one post, auxiliary but not necessary to T1. In this notation:
    · An attack with two posts' worth of preparation behind it is a shift2 attack.
    · An attack capable of delivering two posts' worth of damage is a shift2 attack.
    · A shift1 movement speed increase permits an additional post's worth of ground covered in one post.
    · A defense capable of soaking or deflecting two posts' worth of damage is a shift2 defense.
    · An unprepared attack with no post-equivalent bonuses is a shift0 attack.
