  1. The laugh that sounded was as mirthless as it was hard to pinpoint. True, where Artifice saw the shadow was very well likely where the other was standing, in the darkest corner of the basement, but the sound of its voice came from all around while at the same time being in the center of his mind. What's the matter, little Artifice? Afraid of a little darkness? the voice said, mocking him for his supposed courage. Then the creature did walk forward, but, nothing more than the general shape was revealed, as it seemed like a constant fog of darkness was billowing from the creature, cloaking it from the lights in the basement. There was also a slowly growing fear, building up with every step the creature took towards Artifice. Was it being generated by the creature or was it some part of his own fight or flight at seeing something that wasn't willing to be seen, yet. You smell... there was a pause as the unmistakable sound of something taking several deep inhalations was heard from the creature's direction, mmm, so very delicious... It's a lucky thing for you that I've already had my fill... It had stopped several steps from the lad, but, even still, the lights were dimming more, casting deeper shadows with every passing moment.
  2. There was obviously a startled surprise to this. You're talking to me that way? And in all seriousness too. This made his non-existent blood boil. The one known as Ganthronex may very well have come into existence because of the male, those repressed emotions slowly having built to the point that he was brought into being, but after that point the Tulpa felt he was a separate entity. Dependent on said creature, but his own self none the less. His appearance in the basement was quite noticeable, almost like something the size of the empire state building had crammed itself inside the tiny space that was their home. You will come down here, now, the voice inside Artificer's mind said, implying there would not be any argument with this. Anger was as palpable in the air as humidity would be jsut before a thunderstorm.
  3. Stroke her, came the whisper, as it always did when she was in the same bed. Slip your hand under her shirt. Was it his own thoughts, some dark part of him trying to entice him? Or was it some dark entity trying to subvert his thoughts? Ganthronex, a name unknown to most, was hidden in the light here, now that he was weakened once more. The pair of them were his main staple now, and when they dreamed, ah, the delicious power that they offered him. Power enough to walk in open under the dawning sun and wreak such destruction and cause terror. Yes, that was what he was after. Though his true target in the building had eluded him, for the time being, he was still able to meet a goal. Now he had to bide his time, once more, until the pair were asleep and he could draw on their minds once more. The boy struggled in his dreams, which gave them a different flavor than the others, those that he slipped into the dreams of and watched them run in abject terror. He even listened into the dreams of the girl, the one that slept so deeply and completely that she might as well be able to cross over into that alternate reality. And every time she awoke, she rushed to her brother, hoping he could protect her, when he couldn't even protect himself from that which hauunted their nights. He would be sad when he finally broke them, but, to be honest, it was going to happen eventually, though he hoped later rather than sooner.
  4. I lost my way... But now I'm found... or wait... no... I may still be lost.

  5. He was silent for a time, mulling this over as he continued down the road. So, five people, all messing in the same pot. "Too many chefs..." he mumbled to himself, his frown deepening as he fit the long muscle car between the rear bumper of a Luxury SUV and the front bumper of a semi-truck... barely. He was driving on auto-pilot at the moment. Then he snorted as he finally caught up with the terminology she had used. "God? The person in charge seriously doesn't call himself that, does he?" Considering what it was he was hunting, he very much doubted it was a skyward company that was involved in this.
  6. Galen could be heard audibly panting by now, along with soft grunts with every landing of his large foot pads on whatever surface he hit. Even with the help of magic, he was expending his reserves at a rapid rate. But, they were just passing the outskirts and the woods were not far away. He spotted a small cliff, off to the side, that would make a handy stumbling block for anyone that would think about following them. Sketti, I'm going to feel this in the morning... he thought to himself as he instinctively clutched the woman tightly to his chest. “I'm sorry, M'Lady...” he whispered to Anessa before he landed once again, this time bunching his leg muscles as he focused his last reserves of magic and energy into his wings. Focusing on the distant cliff's edge, he exhaled and leapt at the same time. The acceleration added by the down thrust of his invisible wings propelled them in a long arc through the sky, but Galen wasn't really aware of this. Blind for a moment as the world dimmed to near blackness around him, he was doing his damnedest not to completely pass out, which would be mildly upsetting to do while rescuing someone.
  7. SO...

Yeah, for the last few months... damn near a year I guess... I've been dealing with a lot of shit. It's taken a while to dig my way out of the bottom but I think, for now, things are stable enough that I can say, with some degree of certainty... that I'm back. I'm just hoping it will stay that way. I am sorry for those that I had RPs with, I didn't exactly give any warning before I fell off the map. If the RPs are still there I will do my best to pick up where they left off.

      Welcome back

I'm just hoping I can stay being back

  8. Welks! hope you enjoy yourself... if you don't get love soon, then hit me up, I'll be happy to get you started here...
  9. Okiedoke... definitely cost effectiveness is good... I wish I could help more with the costs... I'll try soon though
  10. Galen didn't hesitate in his reaction, smoothly taking control of the body and rushing forward. The man stood stock still, staring at the skull headed beast rushing him. Galen was gentle, in the sense that his death was quick, but the ranger wolf was angry, having watched an innocent die like that. The man's head probably could have been ripped clean off his shoulders if Galen had really wanted to, but applying his anger in a brutal twisting of that head nearly a hundred eighty degrees was sufficient to make sure that one wouldn't harm anyone else. This is worse, Galen... Aku warned the one she shared her body with. “Yeah, this hasn't been around that long, not like last time. And that was a stronger reaction than last time,” he said as he looked at the fog, trying to figure out what was going to need to be done. Just then a constable came rushing up to him, placing a hand on his forearm. Looking down, he blinked to see the lady officer he'd promised a dinner date to.
  11. The happy demolition of another macaroon was paused, his beak having just hit the table, and the sapphire hued iris facing her narrowing to a pinpoint as he regarded that sentence in his mind at the same time he regarded the woman that had uttered it. Daintily cleaning up the crumbs of the last culinary victim, he then ruffled his feathers then settled them flat, an actual shiver running through him. “Whatcha talkin' 'bout sorceress?” he asked, lids narrowed now as he looked her over speculatively, debating if all the macaroons she promised to make for him would be worth what she was about to ask of him.
  12. He snorted at the idea of going into that store, his imagination already having painted a grisly scene that he didn't want to have confirmed. Instead he contemplated how he was going to deal with this newest of twists in his fate. His eyes had unfocused, looking out over the roof of the car and the scenery on the other side of the road as his thoughts circled the being that had been and still was his wife, if only in his mind. Then her question snapped him out of that gloom. “You're bored, I take it?” Glancing at the meter on the pump, noting the main tank was almost full, he nudged her out of the way of the driver's door so he could bend over, leaning in to toggle the switch to the emergency tank, making sure to top that off. He had a feeling he wasn't going to be stopping at too many gas stations, at least, not with her in tow.
  13. Galen's lower jaw hung looses on it's hinge, seeing the charred crater in the woman's abdomen. And she was standing on her own too... Questions later, we need to get going... Shaking his head, he snapped out of the more morbid thoughts. He stepped forward, leaning so one arm pressed to the back of her knees while his other arm pressed to her back, “Wraps your arms around my neck and hold on,” he commanded gently, sweeping her from her feet and cradling her to his chest. Crouching there, he took a couple deep breaths to help his lungs get ready for the sprint that he had planned. Gathering a burst of energy into his invisible wings, he focused on the path in front of him, picturing the route in his mind and setting the landmarks he remembered along the way firmly in his mind. Then the acceleration hit, keeping his leaps as horizontal as possible when he used his wings to dash forward, then running on the pads of his feet in between. Mindful of the woman bundled in his arms, he did his best not to make any jarring motions, still scared about the chunk of her body missing. But, Aku was right, he couldn't focus on that right now, now was the time to escape. Of course, by now, people had gathered on the streets, mostly to gawk at the smoking mess near the one spire, so he had to pick his route carefully to avoid out right bowling anyone over. But there were also other guards out here that had not seen or even knew what had happened, and he knew he was drawing attention to them by fleeing the area. Thankfully, though, no one seemed inclined to make the effort to stop them yet...
  14. if I was missed, was new when I had to drop... am back though now... hopefully for a lot longer...
  15. So, sorry, but I am living out of a hotel right now. At least for this week. Waiting on housing help. I'll get to writing when I can

  16. “The short version is you got struck by lightning and then the forest tried to protect you and now we really need to get moving. When We tried flying you acted like it hurt or you were dying, if I carry you but stick with running, will you be fine?” He kept looking over his shoulder looking for the guards to start homing in on them, looking for an electrically charged... GALEN! Stop inviting trouble and fucking focus on her already! Aku snarled at him in his mind, and he tried to set his anxiety to the side, attention back to the woman laying on the ground under him.
  17. When she had gotten out, he had gotten into his car and started it back up, rolling forward enough to make it tot he next pump before he stopped, but his hand hovered over the ignition switch, tempted to tear out of there and leave this circus behind in his rearview. Though he probably wouldn't get all that far. Not just because of fuel, but simply being unfamiliar with the are at all. He thought on it long and hard for a few moments then shut the engine off again, stepping out and starting the pumping again when the machine signaled it was ready. He grunted as he turned and was hit center mass by the clenched hand around the bottle, but he managed not to stagger this time. Taking the bottle, he eyed it and shook his head, the bottle flipped over a shoulder to shatter on the ground a few feet behind him. “Even you should know better than that, it's whiskey or nothing.” a side long glance at her as she chugged the bottle, remembering the last drinking contest they'd gotten into. “So can a Goddess-against-her-will get drunk?”
  18. He was silent as he started picking out details, the little things that stuck around despite her attempting to hide the truth. She ws obviously good at it, and he admired that, but even the lies had to have a grain of truth here and there. Slippery, crossed his mind, but only because she needed to slip free easily when cornered. He stopped analyzing and thought his question out. “Do you know who's in charge of the girls that got picked up and then delivered to their deaths?” it would be a wonderful thing if she did, as it would cut his work load in half, but he doubted the entity he was hunting was that stupid. He wasn't stupid, he knew by the ink that she was answerable for what he was going to involve her in, probably with her life, and be damned if he was going to just abandon her to that fate, but first he had to know if she was actually involved in the process, because tht would mean an entirely different fate than death by employer. He wanted to believe she wasn't involved, but, after the decades he's spent doing this, he couldn't rely entirely on his hunches anymore.
  19. Another macaroon demolished with gusto as he listened to her, head canted to the side as he thought on what she said. Then she wafted a spell past him, and he chortled before he shook his head, “Lass, you need to be a little more careful about slinging them like that. If one of the Special Police caught you doing that...” then he ruffled his feathers out and and rolled his head until his head was upside down, opened his beak and stuck his tongue out to the side. Hen he resettled his feathers back in place. But the parade, that was true, it was today, and the baubles. “Admittedly, I had thought off going to raid the trash can behind the jewelers... But, a nice parade is always a nice little addition. Though,” and he turned his head to spear her with one eye, it might cost you the remainder of your macaroons...” as if that were a dire circumstance.

so this can be marked resolved. I don't know why, but this time it was there in my email within the minute, but I know for sure nothing from Valucre hit my email before now (did a search). So weird.
  21. So, update. I've managed to secure a storage unit to put as much of my crap in as possible. I've got my tablet up to date and so long as I can hit a wifi signal I should be good. Working to make sure my phone can be a hotspot, and then it'd just be a matter of making sure I have decent signal. THEN it's just going to come down to finding a place to live that accepts dogs...

  22. They spotted the fog when they rounded the corner, it was between them and the shop, but they could tell Kirin wasn't in immediate danger from it. Slowing, Aku panted softly, a new terror forming in her. She remembered what it had taken the last time to handle this, but she wasn't sure she could handle it again. Sure, they'd had time to recover, but the depths of her magical reserves hadn't deepened appreciably since the... A man came tearing out of the bloody mist wielding a knife. Aku could only stand there in shocked horror as she watched him rush a terrified woman and begin stabbing her over and over again, screaming something about how the spiders needed to die. He'd then looked to another person, in a group that was trying to run from him having watched the seeming cold blooded murder.
  23. She stopped, mid-thought, as a sense of dread or wrongness came over her. Turning to look at the door, she frowned, trying to figure out what it was that she felt. It was a thought outside herself, a feeling that wasn't her own. Kirin? The twin souls both thought as out loud a they were able to. The feeling of cold dread became even stronger, and this prompted Aku to stand so suddenly the chair she'd been sitting in was knocked over onto its back. “Miss?” She turned to see a look of concern on the man's features and she gave a small smile, “I'm sorry, sir, but something's wrong, I need to go,” and with that she was through the doorway. Her stride was long, but she felt as if she was running in slow motion for some reason. The fear that something had happened to Kirin overrode any other thought right then. Her manners were lacking too, bumping and knocking against people as she made a mad dash towards the shop where Kirin was supposed to be.
  24. “Considering your loving touch broke the pump...” he growled, hooking a thumb towards the mart as he leaned so he could look at her through the open driver's window, “why don't you get your happy ass back out of my car and turn on the other one while I pull up to it.” He had other thoughts as well, but right now, he also needed more answers and this was shaping up to be a nasty day. “And, be a dear, grab some beer while you're at it, or stronger, if they have it.” His smile was half sincere, the other half failing the charade, but only by remaining flat.
  25. “Sending... returning?” there was a bit more anxiety in that question, but Aku suddenly had a worry... “Ah, yes, sorry, I should have mentioned that these friends of mine are very far from here. I'll use one of the better courier services, but it will still take a couple of days to get any sort of a reply, even using a Teleson or one of the communication orbs.” She let out a sigh, but she knew there wasn't anything that could really be done about this either, even she couldn't guarantee a teleport wouldn't mess with the contents of the containers somehow. Nodding her understanding, she then pulled out the coin purse from it's pocket. Then paused, catching sight of the dumbfounded look from the Alchemist. “What?” “What are you doing?” “I had thought I was about to pay for the courier service fees as well as whatever it was going to cost to have your friends look into this...” she said in a somewhat uncertain voice, now unsure of what was going on. “No, no, your lady, my friends will want to look into this without being paid, until someone is stupid enough to mention payment to them,” he added, as she shook his head. “As for the courier service, I'm considering it as part of my original fee. I said I would do my best to track down the source of this strange liquid and I'm a man of my word...” he actually acted indignant about what Aku had suggested and she felt ashamed for making her assumption. Smiling her most demur smile she leaned forward and kissed the man on his cheek, which not just mollified him, but actually brought a slightly shocked look to his features even as he blushed slightly. “Um... I say... what was that for?” “For being such a kind gentleman. So many would have taken my coin without hesitation, it's wonderful to meet someone that can show such kindness nowadays.” This seemed to fluster the Alchemist even further, which meant Aku had to force herself not to laugh otherwise the compliment would have been ruined. “Well, I say... thank you. Um...” She smiled and held out her hand which was tentatively grasped by the aged man across form her, “Thank you again, sir, I'll check back with you in a week, though you can reach me at Kirin's Shop if you find out something sooner.” “Wait, Kirin, you say?” His accusatory look brought Aku up short and she now felt ashamed of herself for not just letting it go with the week. “Um, yes?” Suddenly her hand was grasped by both of his and he smiled brightly, “So you're the reason why she's gotten out of her slump?” “I, we... I think so?” she was utterly confused by the turn this had taken, half expecting there to be some sort of feud simmering somewhere, but definitely not the look of joy on the man's features. “You don't understand, youngin...” the man said as he began fishing the coins back out of his pocket that he'd taken as payment for the examination. “Kirin's been a help to all of the merchants in the area, but recently she's been... Off, is the best word I can think of...” Aku stopped him, catching both of his hands in hers before he could return the coins, holding them tight in her hands. “No, stop. I didn't mention Kirin for any other reason that if you knew her then you could contact me through there. What I do with and for her doesn't require anything form anyone else, and I am not going to take my money back. We made a deal, I paid for your services, the money is yours now.” She was firm in this, and didn't let the other's hands go until he nodded. “Now, I should be toddling off, I wanted to pick up a treat for her on the way home...”
