Venus Sprite got a reaction from supernal in Party at Emilio's!
Several things happened in such a short space of time that Igni still felt a little stunned as she was beckoned back outdoors – not that she’d gotten much further than the doorway the first time. She looked dubiously down at the chairs spotted here and there, and then with amusement at the man fishing fruit out of a barrel.

Well, that was nice. So despite his earlier exclamation of wyrm shit, this Emilio was perhaps quite caring, if a little easy to startle.
As Emilio was busy with the drifter, she leaned closer to Chidi and said, “Why did he call you Wyrm Shit when you first arrived? I can’t imagine wyrm shit smelling very nice, but you don’t smell too bad at all! Much better than this fellow." She waved a hand at the dripping drifter.
It occured to her then that it probably wasn’t proper to walk around sniffing people. Instead she cocked her head and changed the subject. “Please explain your eyes? They are not normal for humans, yes?”

In case anyone is wondering - no real post order here. If it gets pretty packed and busy then we can do a "post at any time just once per turn" loose order but since it's just a few of us I figure we can adjust our pacing on the fly

Ah, I see. I personally prefer sticking to post order because it makes it easier for me to follow what's happening, so I'll wait for @Venus Sprite to post first.

The burning of dead bodies made Igni feel even worse; the one thing she could have helped with and she’d missed it because she was stuffing her face. Ah well.
Gingerly she stepped through the camp; an enormous shape lit by the funeral fires, shaggy and red and black. Perhaps a little frightening in this light, though she tried to smile encouragingly at those who met her eye. The red firelight made them look purple.
“Miserable business, this has been,” she said, sidling up to someone skinning another wolf, likely being led intuitively by her stomach. “You little ones put your lives in danger and then wail when death comes. Why? Do you expect you can live through anything?”
She realised she didn’t even know who she was talking to and looked down to find Rysorian. The angry little dancer.
“Does she look happy to be found to you?” she added, staring over at the queen, all covered in blood. She smelled great, just like all death did to Igni’s leaf-shaped nose. Ironic. “Perhaps she wanted to stay lost.”

At the outskirts of Chesterfield, a short distance away from Emilio's beautiful tree home, a purple portal opens up in space and a tall, dark-skinned and muscular man with African features walks through. He is dressed in a form-fitting grey sweater, khaki trousers and combat boots. Clothing that one wouldn't know utilizes nanotechnology. His low-cut hair has been recently cut, moustache also recently trimmed. On his left wrist are some beads with etchings on them.
The only thing about him that hints at being more than a regular old human being are his eyes: dark pink pupils on light hot pink sclerae.
"I'm in, I'll take a look around the area." He says into the beads on his left wrist and starts walking around, talking to the locals and learning more about the area. "Chesterfield in Valucre, huh?" First the Nexus, and now Valucre, another world to explore. His very own isekai story, this promises to be fun!
By the time Emilio's put the final touches on his backyard party, Chidi's walking out of Chesterfield with a friendly smile on his manly face, on the path that would lead him to the treehouse. He soon arrives, aiming to pass by, but everything about the location is too intriguing to him. He decides to move in for a closer look, aiming to admire the happy little structure.
As he moves in closer, his attention is drawn to the long-bearded elderly man at the door greeting a large woman. With his power over sound, amplifying their voices to audible levels is easy enough, before he gets close enough to not need to do so. A party, seemingly open to all? A real native of Chesterfield? This is an opportunity to learn more about the area whilst having some fun. The man seems friendly enough, too.
"Greetings, sir!" He arrives just as Emilio's asking about Igni's business, waving at the friendly old man. "I am Chidi!" That's Chee-dee. "A newcomer to Chesterfield and Valucre. Mind if I trouble you for a bit? I wish to know more about the area." Of course, he doesn't forget the lady, and bows a little in greetings. "Good day to you, ma'am. Igni, right?"

A tree house! Igni was intrigued. It looked so quaint and happy sitting all by itself she just had to inspect it closer. So wheeling on her enormous wings she landed just out of sight, as subtly as possible, then transformed herself to her human form.
She wandered over, dressed in green and blue saree. Despite her unnatural girth she did not waddle but drifted along like a leaf in the breeze. At the door was an elderly man – human, she supposed – who, at first appearance looked gruff but upon closer inspection perhaps had a welcoming twinkle in his eyes. It was hard to tell. Humans mostly looked the same to Igni and their expressions were often hard to fathom Although this one’s luxuriously long grey beard made him unusually distinct.
“You’ve all the makings of a party except the guests,” Igni said as she approached, then bowed gently. “I am Igni, a traveller here on business. Are there many houses like yours in these parts?”

I was very thankful for @Veloci-Rapture's character and the banter between he and Igni. That made that RP lots of fun.
The main thing I didn't like was the way Igni's attack was downplayed. I know we didn't want Igni winning the entire battle with one strike but it would have been nice if your post focussed on the effects Igni's attack had on the few soldiers who hadn't managed to defend themselves from dragon fire. As @The Alexandrian says, we need to feel like we're contributing 🙂 .

Per Nathan's plan, the younger Morn twin was running his assault along the enemy's left flank - destroying whatever creatures they could before withdrawing a safe distance away to regroup. Because there were no horses, they instead relied on pre-prepared hiding spots in the plain or in the woods; dugouts and small trenches where his troops could rearm or rest under cover. They had already slain dozens of corpses in the forest and with their traps, but more would be coming.
Even so, he was glad for the Isolde's intervention. The men's morale seemed to be boosted as Isolde prepared herself for the fight - doubly so when he watched from his spot as Max joined her, spouting sermons and prayers of righteous wrath. The excited mood was almost palpable as he watched the two of them lay into their first attackers with sword and shield. They could well handle the direct approach to the battle.
Elias' speciality lay in stealth and speed and ranged combat. For his task he forewent his spear and instead had picked a pair of twin hand crossbows. They were loaded with smaller bolts than normal and were easy to reload and could fire several shots a minute. Each shot fired found its mark - one or two corpses here or there, yes, but mostly he targeted any living enemy troops. Without them, the horde would lose cohesion and the enemy leader would find it harder to maintain control of his forces. Little details like this added up and could gradually turn the tide of battle.
Elias loaded another shot, took aim and fired - and yet another necromancer went down; a bolt in his neck, the fourth one he had killed so far. Beat that Arthur, he thought with a smirk.

Max was by far the happiest of the brothers to be back in the heat of war. To a man like him, there was no greater pleasure than to serve the Heavens on the battlefield and it was obvious from the great, joyful grin he had on his face that he was already having the time of his life, even before the first corpse shambled towards him. Before the fight had begun, he had knelt in prayer - beseeching the Heavens to grant him strength. When the enemy made contact on the plain outside, where Nathan had entrusted him to hold off their attackers from breaching the gate.
"Ask of me and I shall give thee heathen for inheritance - and for thine possession, the end of the Earth." He quoted as he drew his twin short swords. "I shall break them with a rod of iron. I shall dash them into pieces like a potter's vessel. Be wise therefore ye Kings. Be admonished ye judges of Valucre. Serve the Heavens with fear and rejoice with trembling - though Their wrath be kindled but little."
The first attacker was a sickly looking thing; a pale skinned wight - once a human male. It was bloated from its time in the earth - and all of its hair had fallen out, as had its teeth; in their place were rocks and dirt - both telltale signs of being recently raised from the dead.
Max grinned savagely as he put his swords into a cross shape - just as the corpse reached out for him with rotting hands, then sheared them off with one swing each. No blood came from the severed stumps as the heat from his blades cauterized the wounds. A second swing from the left and he severed the creature's jugular - and a moment later the head fell from its shoulders.
"Amen." He intoned as he watched the body fall to the ground with a wet thump. One down, many more to go.
He went about the battlefield before the gate - cutting apart any enemy troops that came at him with single blows and he went about his task with a song in his heart and a prayer on his lips.
"Through the victories you give, the glory is great; you will bestow on us splendor and greatness. Surely you grant us eternal blessings and made us glad with joy. For we mortals trusts in the Heavens; through the unfailing love of the Most High we will not be shaken. Your hands will lay hold on all our enemies; your right hands will seize our foes. At this time we will make them burn like in a fiery furnace. In wrath, the fire will swallow them up, and the holy will consume them."
At his words, his body began to glow and radiate heat. Flames appeared on his blades and every corpse caught within its range was set ablaze. Each swing and backhand and strike was followed by a blast of fire so bright and intense that it reduced any cadavers he killed to ash.

Atop the wall, just as Igni was about to take off and take flight - Nathan watched as his brothers went about their task with an impassive expression. His face was a mask - but to any who might look closer, there was cold fury in his eyes.
"Wait for my signal, then unleash hell." He instructed his dragon friend. He slowly raised his arm, then signaled the archers to ready themselves.
Arthur mentally noted Nathan's voice had changed. Unlike the soft, almost musically smooth voice he had before, his tone and cadence had become as cold and hard as steel. The look in his eyes was that of a man who stood to lose everything and was absolutely determined to not let that happen. From what little Arthur knew of Nathan's past, he had been married once before - but was divorced, yet still loved his ex. That was where Arthur's knowledge ended. He had only known Nathan for four short years, yet he was still among his closest, dearest friends. Even so, whenever he broached the subject as to what had happened to his ex wife after their separation, Nathan turned uncharacteristically stern and warned him never to ask again.
Arthur did not need to be psychic to know that his friend was masking a deeper pain - and if this man before them were to cause such a reaction, then obviously he was somehow connected. Other than that incident, Arthur had only seen Nathan's anger flare once before - during the war with the Cult of Power in Nu Martyr - and his fury was a frightening sight to behold.
"Archers!" Arthur announced. "Nock! Draw! LOOSE!"
At his command, the archers and crossbowmen readied themselves, aimed and let loose a rain of arrows. The first volley dropped dozens of creatures as shafts embedded themselves in heads and bodies. Every marskman's aim was excellent - and Arthur couldn't help but admire the discipline and focus in every man and woman as they repeated this action. Because of the blessings from Max and Isolde, each shot also caused the corpses to burst into flame and drop after a few seconds of burning.
Just as they readied a second volley, a line of enemy war machines rolled up and started a bombardment of their own. A few ballistae shots were fired - but they stopped just short of hitting the infantry on the walls. Instead, they struck the walls themselves and either embedded themselves into the stone or bounced harmlessly off.
"Now." Nathan said, lowering his arm. "Destroy those weapons before they reload. Let the enemy know the wrath of a dragon."

vielle's left valucre permanently, so don't wait on her. King's still around and writing as the new king of Svanhild -- you can ask him if he's free for an interaction.
Also as a note, with vielle's departure the Queendom of Svanhild will be destroyed in the IC future, starting with this thread, and its cities assimilated back in the main kingdom of Ursa Madeum. So I'd avoid making future plans involving Svanhild in any capacity.

Torie looked over appreciatively at Shelly, then down the tunnel.
She expected to find an enormous fire-breathing monster, but what was there was roughly the size of a large dog, only longer. Its little wings were far too small to carry its body into the air, and it possessed eyes far too big for its petite little skull. Bright orange eyes in a face of green.
“Aw, a baby!” Torie said, but no sooner had she spoken but the infantile dragon turned and ran.
    “Hey, wait!”
She took off on a waddle of serious intensity, following the dragon down the hallway. It twisted this way and that, branched a few times and entered a natural cavern, half filled with water. This area was still choking in dust but she could see the little dragon ahead, splashing through the shallows.
“Slow down. We’re here to help!” she said.

"I'm fine," Eli replied with a chuckle. "If we're to live our lives, we need to know pain right? Ah, fuck. Careful!" He swung his right sword upward, the flat of the blade catching a wolf in its jaw and slamming it shut. The elven sword followed with a sickening plunge. He moved on, ducking through the melee like a beast in his own right. His swords slashed and stabbed. He couldn't parry a damn thing, but neither could they, and he used that truth with grim efficiency. On a pivot, Eli first impaled a distracted wolf, then whirled around to swing his blade in a wide arc and cut through the fur and meat of the wolves endeavoring to catch him unawares. His battle sense was tricky, but it seemed to work well enough.
Rohini was clearly formidable. Whatever magic was at the man's disposal lended itself to Eli's safety, making him far more comfortable when he ventured to cut down the wolves that challenged him. He didn't know how many he killed. In the heat from the exertion and fire, he found himself fading away in favor of autonomy. Muscles straining to use metal to rend flesh. Sweat in his eyes, dirt in his eyes, smoke in his eyes, but there were wolves there too. Wolves that yipped and growled and howled. Wolves that demanded an answer, and so he answered with fervor. For every set of claws that scored a mark on his skin, he delivered pain like a kingly tax.
"Do we condense?" he panted himself, easing another body off of his sword. Around him, the demonic forces the regent had employed were handling themselves well. The amount of wolf corpses began to pile. The wolves themselves were starting to see merit in teamwork. If that was the case, Eli needed to rally their troupe, now. He wiped his forehead.
Movement. He flinched as four wolves of different shades approached the fire. Glancing at Rohini and Briar, Eli swallowed and braced himself for whatever organized attack they could muster. "I can handle at least two," he began, slowly. "If you're able to-"
Out of the corner of his eye, he processed new arrivals. Keeping his eyes on the wolves, all he knew was a mystic command filled the camp and cut him off. Moments later, he was lowering his swords and staring in awe at the tail end of their attackers. Eli blinked, dumbfounded, then looked around. At their feet lay the corpses of animal and demon alike. Trails of blood led into the forest where the injured wolves had fled. He had no urge to pursue.
Mads and Merindas approached slowly, causing him to turn his head. They'd been the arrivals, then. Neither looked very ruffled, meaning they hadn't found too much opposition in the woods. Lucky them. He looked for Skacharm and saw him talking to a woman who was not Areille. She was also new... Tearing his eyes away from her, he looked at Mads.
"Next time," Eli scowled, "I go looking for the regent, you two stay behind."
Mads' face scrunched in confusion. "You let some big dogs lay a claw on you? I'm surprised."
Eli shook his head in warning, but winced when the wailing began. She was always careless about these things. "Lower your voice. People died tonight, so there will be grieving. Be considerate."
"Those wolves were formidable," Merindas intoned. "but these demons are impressive. Their dead are grossly outnumbered by the timber wolves'."
"Not just them. Rysorian...Rohini. They fought with surprising skill. On my level, or beyond. And Igni is a damned dragon. Those wolves should have fled at just the sight of her, but they didn't. I'm concerned by that." Eli couldn't explain the pit in is stomach, but at least he addressed it.
Mads knelt by a wolf corpse, frowning. "They're timber wolves. They don't exactly follow rules. And this is their forest."
"I... Even if this is their home, a dragon scares anyone. Laff was scared."
"That was fiction. The real Laff is rotting, remember? Besides, Igni isn't your traditional dragon."
Eli cursed, glancing at the people around them. As far as he could tell, most of the expedition was focusing on stabilizing the camp, or staring at Skacharm and the woman. He looked at Merindas, but the golem was staring up at the sky. The moon, huh. "Thoughts?" he prompted.
The golem waited a moment, but when he spoke his eyes were still glued upward. "The wolves, before they arrived, already sounded bloodthirsty. Perhaps that clouded their judgment. We've all felt that we could take on a dragon once or twice, whether or not that was reality."
"That's two," Mads said triumphantly. She rose and reached for his swords, which he released with ease. Her grin was sickening. "You lose this vote. Now get someone to look at those wounds before you get them infected. We'll stay out here."
He summarily walked off, grumbling to himself. As he passed, Eli made eye contact with the young woman, then Skacharm.
"Ah, did you find another mercenary? She looks like a fur ball, but I'll fight along just about anyone. I'm Eli Warren, miss. Let's expedite this. If we help the regent find his dear Malia, we get very wealthy, and I get to see this man smile. Very exciting stuff, as you can see." He turned to Skacharm. "The wolves, sir. They didn't feel right to me. I'm worried that there are other things at play in this forest. We're better off leaving at first light, but it's your call."

'Your father would have purged the entire area by now,' the voice said, their opinion clear with every word.
"Is he only my father when it comes to such things?" Olympia remarked aloud. Over the last few days, she has been in constant communication with her sister, the glorious figure keeping Oly's kingdom in order while she is away.
'When he is sanctimonious - yes.'
Both women share a laugh, knowing their father is everything under the sun and more beyond it. He was a cold ruler, perhaps a little too heavy-handed, but he was a kind father who tried his best with the hoard he had produced. Far from perfect, the gentleman turned god did what he could with what little knowledge he had. Olympia is possibly the only child who looks upon him with complete adoration and limited harsh opinion. Not utterly ignorant of his shortcomings, the picture of her father is one to admire.
Much like Nathan, the woman could change her attire to fit the mood. Having declined soft leather in previous offerings, settled mostly on everyday attire, Olympia is not blind towards her limitations as a semi-human being. Arrows still hurt, and swords can even nick, and enemies can be hungry for blood and death; she can't allow herself to take these minimal risks. Plains clothes turned to the armor most SoulSeekers of higher rank wore; white robes edged in red flowed about her, revealing snippets of intricate black armor that familiarly hugged her form.
"Even if we could eat the undead, I'm sure they'd be a little too chewy." Olympia liked Igni, she was a relief from the goings-on, really. "I don't know about you, but I'm not for spending hours just chewing my food."
She approached them all in her glory, with shield and sword hanging from her form, and embellished armor all aglow. The hood to her robes was thrown back, revealing her eager smile and bright eyes. The battle is soon to commence, and the young lady looked as if she was prepared to talk a stroll.
