This is a realistic setting, which means no magic, meta-materials, or fantasy races. This has no bearing on the realism of plot contrivances or the natures or reactions of characters. I am basing Cicero off Chicago. I want to take an alt. history slant, where we can reference Chicago's history but also do our own thing rather than follow history's drum beat.
Cicero, Illinois has a history of organized crime dating back to the mid 1800s and was touched by various arms of the American mafia. The time period for this setting ranges from the 1920s to the mid-1930s and stories can place anywhere in this iconic decade-and-a-half. If you're unfamiliar with what this might look like, think Boardwalk Empire or even Chinatown.
Some notable historical events which players can incorporate in their play are:
1920 - Prohibition is in full swing, making this the year that crime surges through the city. In addition to bootleg liquor and speakeasies, rackeetering increases in popularity and houses of prostitution "spread like wildfire" 1921 - The Thompson submachine gun / Tommy gun / "Chicago typewriter", becomes the weapon of choice for at least some of the city's mobster gangs (and there are several). 1923 - Al Capone establishes his headquarters in Lexington Hotel. 1929 - Eliot Ness returns to Chicago as a Prohibition agent under the Treasury Department and creates the "Untouchables" to try and stop the flow of illegal booze and bring down the Capone empire Common plots in this genre/time can include:  
Work for a gang, rising up through the ranks to gain power or starting off with power and struggling to keep it Start an illegal moonshine operation and speakeasy Work as a police officer, either one that gets caught up in a world of bribery and illegal activities, or one that fights back against it at the risk of everything they have Be a private detective who takes a case and finds themselves in over their heads Literary elements for noir often focus on: the anti-hero protagonist and the femme fatale Technology
1913 - Radio. By the '20s there are radio stations with shows and advertising 1913 - Refrigerator. '23 saw Frigidaire introduce the first self-contained unit 1921 - Drive-in restaurants and in '22 convertible cars. in '23 traffic signals 1925 - Television. '28 saw the first experimental broadcast in the US 1927 - Jukebox and democratized music Firearms include: the Tommy gun, shotguns, and semi-automatic pistols Attire
 

First character, here we go!
Name: Jones Calbert
Alias: Blackjack 
Appearance: tall and lanky, with a blue t-shirt and jeans.  He wears a long brown trench coat over this. He has icy blue eyes and medium length brown hair. 
Powers: Jones has the ability to infuse objects with kinetic energy, causing them to become explosive when striling another object. The item being infused will glow bright blue, as will Jones' eyes. He often carries around various screws, bolts, and nuts that he uses as weapons. 
Bio: Jones gained his powers in a tragic accident early in his childhood. The accident killed his parents and left Jones permanently changed. He went through life not knowing how to control his powers, until his late teenager years, where he came upon a kind mentor. 
Personality: due to the accident, Jones is quiet and cautious, but he can become angry and hot-headed quite quickly. He tends to be indifferent towardd others, especially those who have not gone through what he experienced.

Started a new job that has me a little brain-dead with learning immediately after coming back into town, but I will be on this post.

Hey, yeah, I appreciate the thought. I went out of town for a big camping trip that helped me clear my head and I'm doing better. I'll be trying to write again over the next few days.

Keith jumped a bit, turning quickly to see who rushed up to him and with such formal words. "Uh... my what?" 
It's not that the young man didn't understand him, but he was taken back by the way this stranger approached him questioning his actions as if he were his professor or parental guardian. He looked at him through the light-blue visor of his helmet, his view just barely obstructed by the black bangs that hung on his head.
The same agitated front he had back at home was brought out upon his expression and evident in his tone.
 "Listen, if this is about that guy in there, forget it. I don't have time to be scolded right now, so why don't you just lay off?"
 
On the back of his jeans, a small sheathed blade hung sideways fastened to his belt. Keith always had this blade with him, he's had it for as long as he could remember. If there was a fight in the drugstore, he was ready to defend himself. He studied the taller man who looked at him with eyes of judgment and disapproval.
Keith expected as much. After all, he had just bluntly told off the guy. He looked at his feet for a moment while crossing his arms and let out a sigh. 
"Listen, it's... it's been a long evening for me, I've got places I have to be."
 
Sure, there were places he could be. He didn't necessarily have many friends, or family for that matter. His father passed when he was a young age, and his mother... well... he doesn't remember her. Maybe he did in his life before but in this world... she was completely forgotten. Absent from his mind altogether. Little did he know his bloodline was both human and Galran descent.  The Galra was, well, are a powerful alien race set on war tactics and strength. His mother was a rogue, working in alignment with a group called the Blade of Marmora, fighting against the tyranny of the Galran emperor who dominated the universe.
Places he had to be? No one expected him to be anywhere, really. And to make things worse, he just dropped out of college. His options were more or less limited in both his personal life and work. The only thing he was good at was hand-to-hand combat, as far as he knew.

Yeah, no problem. A man like him has a formidable vocabulary to use.

I don't mind the character development or portrayal goin through that, it makes sense. There's a lot of people who feel similarly in the world even today. I think as far as the profanity tho, it could be left out of that? It's interesting to hear more about him in that way seeing the kind of pain he has, I just personally would feel more comfortable if the profanity part was left out. I'm glad that you are understanding of it, though! ?

Dracula is practicing to be a lawyer and Jyggalag is a detective. I see some possible interactions.

I shall do two posts since I've decided to do both of them so I figured a post for each would be in order as they're different characters. Unless one's short then I'll just tie the other one in.

Yup! I'll be working on something for this today, though I need to respond to another roleplay. I'm personally obsessed with Castlevania Dracula's morality, and the idea of the human hating vampire Dracula suddenly being a memoryless human who hates humans to a ridiculous extent and doesn't know why struck me as amusing. He's a man of science, of enterprise, of empire, so naturally he will try to quell his confusion with logical understanding while focusing on uplifting his own status.

So the thing with this thread is there are no rules (and relatively no post order) really but keep it romance-free and PG. You jump in and create a starter or interact with someone already in the story (keep in mind responses to this should be more fast-paced as it's just something for fun. The length of your responses can be your preference). The only catch is you must use a character that is from a video game (like Legend of Zelda, for ex) or from an animated show. If it's a character that's more unknown, somewhere within your message put some information about them.
The theme of this random RP is gathered from some inspiration I got recently about similar situations I've seen in stories. The genre is more leaning toward comedy as well as suspense/mystery. Any powers they had previously would be gone, leaving them basically powerless in this strange world. They would not remember their original lives but have new lives currently in this world. Perhaps they are in college, or they work a job, or they're a thug running through the streets--- whatever it is they do daily. 
The story takes place in a modern-like city where people wake up in a foreign, or maybe not so foreign land. What the characters don't know, is that everything around them is not truly what it appears. The longer they spend their time there, the more that some of them might to feel "off" or visibly notice something unusual going on.

I saw a status message about this roleplay and wanted to give it a water cooler bump too 

I have been using a certain OC of mine in a couple settings just because I've been wanting to re-vamp him and use him more. I was actually having interest in a superhero setting so I made a whole superhero type scenario going on with a fantasy/sci-fi twist on a full on discord server haha. 
 
I miiiiight be interested and seeing that no one else is really around I wouldn't mind. The only thing I'm picky about is I'm not really a fan of romance genres or magical themes, but with superpowers being more natural and all that fun stuff. Let me know if this is still up and you can tell me more about your own character(s) and the plot and stuff ?

I'm not sure what POV means? Sorry haha. As for the age thing, it's not about ability it's just that I'm personally more comfortable. But yeah as long as the rules are followed I don't think there's any reason why you shouldn't be able to join in.

I've written as an antagonist a few times. I always try to make there be more to them than just simply a craving for power. More to their motive, if you know what I mean.
