Aster covered her ears at the blare of the alarm from Nesy's armor, and only released them when some weird holographic thing happened on Nesy's arm. And yep, the argument was still really fucking loud. The faun started to look for Aidan and Ira, but she knew they'd already retreated to their rooms and she doubted they'd noticed anything was amiss. And then a gunshot rang out after the argument, though Lonely Night dealt with the gunman quickly and efficiently.
Frankly, all the faun wanted was to slink back to Aidan and Ira and fall asleep where she knew she'd be mildly safer than in the rest of the tavern. But Vaddock had called for her to come along, because she'd helped with the bear; hell, Quinn had been more of a help in that fight than her, she wasn't some hero now, right?
"My blades got warped during the fight with the bear, I'll need new ones if I'm to be any use." Aster said.

Aster turned to answer Nesy's question. "Oh no, it was foul smelling in life too." Aster commented, but was otherwise happy to let Ira explain the situation. She nodded to her friends as they spoke of getting a room and sleeping. "I'll be sure to, see you folks in the morning." She then took Amy's hand, squeezing it in return. "Nice to meet you-"
And then not a moment later, as the waiter brought them a pot of tea, the lights cut out. "Oh no." Aster hummed, standing up and knocking against the table; she wanted to draw her weapons, but they were both bent and not currently in her possession. She did however still have her lantern, so she pulled it out and sparked it to life and blinked until her eyes adjusted to the dark. "Someone keep an eye on the til, someone already inside might be trying to rob the place." Aster said, and though her voice was laced with exhaustion she still jumped into action despite it.

"Huh, well sorry about you getting displaced. Valucre isn't the worst place to be though." Aster said, reaching over to pat the other woman on the shoulder in what she hoped was comforting. "I'm Aster, by the way." She added before turning her attention towards the armored stranger again, who had pulled up a chair to sit right by them.
"It's no problem." Aster said, flicking one ear and giving him a tired but welcoming smile. "Oh, yeah, the bear. I guess it's kinda fascinating, smells awful though; be glad you didn't get too close." Aster chuckled in a strained manner, playing with one horn nervously. It'd take a bit of time before she'd be able to look back on that fight with any fondness, but she didn't blame anybody for being curious. "It roared loud enough to shake the ground."

"Aye (Eye)," Amy replied. "You'd be surprised that half the folks have no idea how they ended up here. Apparently 'Vel-Loo-Cray' is some sort of realm between the worlds, and people just randomly get displaced here for no reason whatsoever."
She shrugged, gazing out the window and for a moment, there was a sense of longing in her eyes that she quickly brushed off.
    "So, what's your stor-"
"You are excused," Amy glanced at the newcomer, sizing him up from top to toe. "Wuz crackin' mate?"

Nesy gave a little nodd and he decided to walk over to one of the empty chairs pull a chair for him to sit on and he was sitting right by the group.. That was certainly a suprise for Nesy altough definently this cought his attention. Nesy decided to go straight to the point with this.
"Uhh. " Nesy gave an other nervous chuckle.. "Sorry if I had to interupt this..I bet you guys had some very important conversation and so...But." Nesy's eyes blinked as he said so... His eyes were already described as Quad-Coloured anyway which was odly unique. Altough having humanoid face and humanoid features.
"But..I was kinda amused by this bear because, it was oddly facinating, strange and stuff.." Nesy had this weird scandinavian modern English tone..Altough his tone of English is weird so he chuckled after that. Why would he be facinated by a bear? Well, Nesy is a Celvestian and he has not seen an upclose bear in his life. Which was midly exciting for Nesy.

Aster flicked one ear, glancing up to see the stranger who'd been talking about poaching earlier. She arched her back and sat up, trying to be attentive but struggling a bit. "Rough.. Day and a half, really." Aster said, gratefully taking the offered tea and sipping on it. The flavor and warmth was welcome, and she had to stop herself from chugging the rest of it. She set it back and slid it back to the other woman, and she smiled thankfully at her. "That's really good; yeah, tea's not that available where I'm from either." Aster looked up at Fjorn as she finished speaking, and nodded enthusiastically. "I'd love a cup, if it's no trouble."
And then her brain caught up with her tongue, and she looked back towards Amy - though she didn't know Amy's name yet - and pressed her ears back uncertainly. "Your world? Are you not from here?"
    @CelvestianNesy
Aster turned as someone approached, and squeaked a bit in surprise at their intimidating, armored form. "Uh? Yessir?" Aster asked, not knowing how to react for a few moments. She eventually came to the conclusion that he was probably trying to join them for a meal or conversation, and gestured to one of the nearby empty chairs. "You're free to pull a chair up, if you'd like. More the merrier, just leave room for my friends when they arrive."

    History
Aster was born in the small village of Hadleigh, nestled deep in a forest commonly thought to be dangerous due to high fey activity in the area; these rumors of danger kept Hadleigh secret when kingdoms rose and fell around them. Aster was born to Ghyle Kegg Highglenn and Veris Roc Highglenn; Aster was a planned child, and her parents had married two years prior to her birth.

Aster spent her childhood helping her father herd their small flock of sheep, and learning useful skills from her mother who brought in money as a seamstress. Aster always had trouble connecting to the other young satyrs of the town; she was too serious and collected for the other kids, who paraded their youth joyously. She learnt basic math from her parents and learned to read and write as well, though her academic troubles and impoverished situation meant further education was impossible for her to obtain. Still, she learned any other skills her homesteader parents could teach.

As she hit adulthood, there was immediate pressure for her to marry and bring in wealth and extra hands to help on the farm. Aster pushed back again her parents expectations, not wanting to settle down and become a housewife and hating all the available age-appropriate boys in the village. Eventually she snapped and had a huge fight with her father, and afterwards she packed her things and left Hadleigh for good.

Her journey continues; for now her biggest motivation is traveling in order to find adventure, meet new people, and discover new places she could only dream of in her youth.

Aster wasn't quite sure how to respond to the comment about poaching. The faun stood awkwardly, and heaved a long sigh. She'd been fighting and traveling near-nonstop for over a day now, she didn't have the energy to deal with explaining the difference between a requested hunt and poaching. "If it were poached, we wouldn't have brought it back here." Aster said wearily, before heading outside with Vaddock to meet with her traveling companions. She could feel her energy dropping, and her ears drooped to exemplify this.
    @Greenmntman
She smiled tiredly as she murmured a greeting to the two humans and vampire. She took the coin purse from Ira, glancing over at Quinn uncertainly; she could see the tension in Quinn's eyes. "Bye." Aster said, figuring she wouldn't get another chance to say so. She turned around and walked back in, heading towards whatever table was empty and had four seats. "Can I get some food and drink? Party of three, but I'll take an extra plate; it's been a long day." Aster called out, waving down the nearest of the waitstaff. "Something warm, please." She added, remembering Ira's request.
The faun then laid her head on the table, and tried to stifle a yawn. There'd be plenty of time for licking wounds later, once food was gotten and- Oh jeez, what was Ira doing? He'd burst in and yelled about how a vampire had taken off with the bear. "But- oh, never mind." Aster started, and then thought better of it. If Ira wanted to lie about their deal with Quinn, she'd let him.

Ira tried to get the bear into the tavern, but it was quickly obvious that it just wasn't going to work.
He had seen the faun go in and told the tavern keeper that she'd be waiting for him.  He saw her walk back towards the group and gave a bit of a shrug.
"No big deal" he tried to say. He pulled out his coin wallet and shoved some into the fauns hand,
"Do me a favor, and go grab a table for four. Order us all something hot, and something to drink. It's on me". He looked over to Quinn and said,
"Would you grab that thing and carry it away from the entrance, I'd hate to see it get in anyone's way as the come into the tavern." Aidan and himself helped in the effort until they were around the corner, and out of sight of anyone. Ira quickly started carving large chunks of fur out of the bear's pelt, more than enough to cover a person.
"Aidan give me a hand here, and do it quick, carve off enough fur to make coat for yourself.".  Ira concentrated on skinning the beast as he gave instructions to the others.
"Quinn, when we are done, you are going to take this beast, and get it and yourself the fuck out of here. When that happens, we are going to be even again since your death. Take this thing wherever you'd like to bring it, and do what you'd like. And while your master and I have unfinished business, I don't want to see you again, unless you are going to help me drive a stake through where his heart used to be. This thing could feed a hundred meals to the locals, and even if your a vampire, they will still be heavily armed and unhappy."
Aidan was done. He was done two pelts.
"There." He said. "Good bye Quinn, now get out of here."
Ira took the pelts and walked back towards the entrance of the tavern where he proclaimed loudly:
"Never trust a fucking vampire, damn her for taking the bear and running off with it! Just as we were almost starting to carve the meat!"

Quin snorted at him, though she “helped” Ira and Aiden move it. She could have done it by herself......humans.
Her curiosity was peaked when he started haphazardly skinning the bear. All the while babbling on about humans and food and not wanting to see her again..... ouch. That hurt.
“It’s not likely I’ll help you kill my Sire.” She said, “I didn’t let you on lantern way and I won’t now.”
But despite his Aiden level of grumbling, he was getting her the bear as he’d promised. He really just had to explain the bear was payment for the help - but of course he wouldn’t do that.
    Again she thought......humans.
“Don’t worry yourself over me.” She said, lifting the creature effortlessly.
She would catch his attention before he went into the tavern.
“By the way Ira.....” her voice a low purr, telling him something only he would understand “Her name is Lyra.”
As mysteriously as she’d appeared, Quin vanished into the night. Darkness wrapping around her like a welcoming cloak. She was gone.

It took a while to bring the monster of a bear back to the tavern, and Aster was very glad she'd had the help of the two mercenaries and vampire in order to drag the beast back. Aster had explained on the way back that Vaddock had offered to skin the bear and make cloaks out of the fur for them, but she'd make sure he left the rest of the body mainly intact so Quinn could take it.
"Excuse me? I don't think we can fit it through the doors, but we were successful Vaddock!" Aster said, peeking into the doorway of the tavern and waving. She saw plenty of unfamiliar faces, but the waitstaff were familiar at least. The faun's hooves shifted uncomfortably in the doorway, and she shouted out a quick, "We'll wait outside for you!"
She headed outside to check on her companions, nervously glancing around the three others. They were all pretty banged up from the fight, and Aster was excited at the prospect of some rest.

The faun flitted around for a few moments, noticing Quinn emerging from underneath the bear's belly and moving to help push the mass of fur off of the vampire, though she doubted she helped much in comparison to Quinn's otherworldly strength. She took a gulping breath, glancing towards Ira and pointing a tired, relieved smile at him. Ira was alive, Aidan was alive, Quinn was... Moving? All in all it was a rousing success. She plopped down onto the ground, chest heaving so much she didn't mind the freezing earth underneath her.
"You want to move this thing tonight?" Aster couldn't help the words as they burst out, looking up at Ira incredulously. She opened her mouth to argue none of them were in the state to drag a giant bear back to town, and then closed it again when she remembered the situation with Quinn; they were technically on a time limit, it was possible they couldn't wait until morning to move it. "Okay, just give me a minute." Aster mumbled, brushing any stray hairs out of her face. She took a deep breath and stood up again, wobbling a bit on her hooves as she used the thought of a warm bed at the end of the night to keep her standing.
"We might be able to lash together a sled to drag it, anybody got rope?" Aster questioned, heading back towards the beaver dam to examine the logs and branches knocked loose by the bear's earlier rampage.

Aster yelped as the countdown in her head sunk lower and lower, until a sudden force hit the bear from the underside and caught the beast's attention, and it swiped downwards at whoever was clinging on from the bottom. Aster spared a glance down to see a disgusting, revolting river-monster with long, terrifying claws and predatory eyes digging into the bear's flesh and holding it steady. And then it shouted out with a familiar voice, and Aster didn't know if she should feel less scared to know it was Quinn grappling with the bear's underbelly.
She let out a curse as the bear swung it's head, her dagger abandoned embedded in it's snout, smacking her own head and nearly throwing her off. All she could do was focus on clinging as suddenly the bear's attention turned to Aidan, and it let out one last roar before collapsing onto the ground. Aster slumped off of the bear, exhaustion feeling like fire in her muscles; the fight with the crows in the tavern earlier felt like a million years ago, even though she knew it'd only been that afternoon. She gulped in a breath and stumbled to her feet, before making her way unsteadily over to Aidan.
"That was awesome Aidan. By all that's holy that thing was strong." Aster said breathily, pulling her daggers out of the bear's tough flesh and wincing as she saw both of them had been warped slightly. "Is everyone alright?" Aster questioned, glancing down at her ruined shirt and finally taking note of the potential concussion from when the bear had thrown her- wait, it hadn't just thrown her during the fight. "Where's Ira?"

She was probably lucky she hadn't knocked her head against some rocks; the fact she was only struggling to breathe was a good one, it meant she could get back into the fight as soon as she could force her muscles to relax and wrap her head around her next attack. She didn't know where Quinn was, but she did see Aidan and Ira begin their barrage. Aster grinned, a feral adrenaline-filled expression as Aidan's arrow struck true and Ira lunged towards the beast, ax tearing into the bear. Things were happening quickly, but it all seemed to be in slow motion at the same time.
Maybe she'd hit her head harder than she thought. Oh well, that was future Aster's problem.
Her eyes darted back towards the flaming cave, mind racing but whenever she made a connection it felt like touching a live wire. The cave was no use to her, so she'd ignore it for now. Her eyes scanned the environment, hearing the bear's claws scratch against Ira's shield as a small amount of panic started rising in her chest. She could jump back in, but it'd be more dangerous if Ira thought he needed to protect her and himself.
Quinn shot out of the trees, striking the bear with a supernatural strength that left Aster's head reeling. She cursed loudly as the two disappeared under the water and ran to the riverside, following the current as she tried to figure out where they'd resurface. She could only hope Quinn was able to keep the bear underneath for long enough to stun it a bit- well no, all she could really ask for was that Quinn didn't get swept away by the water. She cursed a few more times for good luck as her eyes tracked the bubbles, until they stopped.

The bear emerged from the water, and Aster squeaked in panic, her hands moving to her daggers. Ira stepped forward and drove his blade into the bear's shoulderblade, and the faun grimaced as the bear roared once more. She took advantage that it was focused only on Ira, and moved forward as Ira was swatted away and thrown flying. Her eyes moved to the ground, slick with water and churned into mud from the bear's lumbering movements; the terrain was dangerous, and frankly pretty fucking cold against her bare hooves.
Her blades she knew would do little, but she flanked the bear anyways as it's limping movements grew slower by the second. It roared once more, shaking the ground, and Aster bit her lip on instinct. She questioned why she'd signed up for this in the first place as she dove forward, using her speed to her advantage as she sunk both blades into the bear's hind leg, on the same side as it's incapacitated front leg. It roared with pain and she kicked it uselessly, scrabbling to gain purchase as she held on. It tried to turn around to snap its jaws at her, and she kicked it in the face as it grabbed hold of her shirt and tore into it; the teeth had managed to nick her flesh, but it hadn't gotten enough of a grasp to pull her off.
"The lungs! Go for the lungs, Aidan!" Aster shouted, her voice unsteady but determined as she yanked a blade out of the bear's hide and stabbed it into the bear's face; she missed the eye, but managed to get it embedded into the cheek and she used the leverage to maim the bear's face as best she could. She knew she had about another ten seconds before she'd have to bail or get ripped into shreds, so that was a fun countdown in her head.

Ira saw that the fawn cut the bear with one her blades and then get flung half a field away for her trouble. It was a bit of an uncoordinated, rushed attack and it made him smile from ear to ear. He had done something like that dozens of times. The bear stood bleeding above him a few feet out of reach, with a large gash around the waist of his left side. As they each stood their ground, it roared in furry because of the pain and the fact that these invaders were in his territory. Ira tightened his grip on his shield, and never breaking eye contact with the beast, he shouted "Aidan! Anytime now!".
He lowered his helm and saw the arrow strike the bear on the left, not quite in the wound, but close enough that the bear reared to the left. It was the open Ira was waiting for and he lunged forward swinging his ax at the giants right shoulder. He missed the target and the ax tore into the bears right forearm, it sprayed blood as the beast roared and swiped at Ira who was already out of his range again. Ira and the bear again stood eye to eye, out of range of each others blows. Ira saw the next arrow only graze the bear, causing more annoyance than pain or damage. All of a sudden, the situation complete changed. Ira had been prepared to come forward again, and found himself with his shield raised, his shield arm aching under the pressure of the bears body weight as he struck out in attack.
Ira desperately swatted off the bears attacking paws with his ax and prayed that his left arm, his shield arm didn't actually break like it felt like it was on the verge of doing. The bear was far to fast and long for Ira to get close, and he was about 3 feet of reach of actually hurting the beat.
"Come on Aidan, kill something!" he swore as he was being driven down the river bank.
Suddenly he saw Quinn emerge from the tree line, tackling the bear from the side, and throwing both of them into the river itself. They both stayed under the water from what seemed like entire minutes, as Ira watched a wretched struggle unfold under the water.
Ira watched as the splashing and hissing finally stopped, all of a sudden, the giant creature finally reemerged on the river bank, struggling heavily to breathe after being underwater after such a long time. He was bent over on all fours, a few feet from Ira. Ira wasn't going to miss his chance, he took two steps forward, and raised his ax as he yelled, driving it right between the left shoulder blade and the neck, sinking the blade deep into the bears flesh. The bear roared in pain as he instantly spun and hit Ira with his other paw sending him several yards up the river.
"Fuck me" Ira thought to himself as his ribs burned in anger from the blow. He slowly got back to one knee as he turned his head and saw the bear slowly rising as well - except with his right arm hanging low, clearly severed and unusable.

Quin followed along with them, but kept to her high perch. She nearly rolled her eyes when they all stumbled onto the very obviously large creature destroying the beaver dam. Quin knew that it was there, she could smell it the closer she got, but she just did bother to tell them all.  What really pissed the creature off was setting the cave on fire - what creature big or small wouldn’t protest at something like that. Choosing to keep her sarcastic wit to herself, she bit down the remark she wanted to direct at Ira and Aiden. A task made easier when the Fawn attacked the bear.
A brave move Quin thought, she found she admired the Fawn a bit more for her spunk and grit. Something she didn’t expect from such a fragile and easily frightened creature. Quin put her on edge but a bear? She just charged at it - how ..... interesting.....
The smell of blood in the air set Quin’s pupils to dilating, initially she was going to wait and see how she could be helpful - more of a healer than a killer - ironic being what she was. But that smell - it wasn’t human so it didn’t send her into a frenzy, but it did set that gnawing hunger at the back of her throat. Despite having just gorged herself on that bandit camp, she couldn’t help her nature. She hadn’t even thought about what she would do if one of those three got hurt and started to bleed - could she control herself? Not if she was hungry......
The bear let out a mighty growl and aggravated roar and she continued to perch, despite the fighting and chaos beneath her. She bit her lip, the sharp tip of her elongating fangs puncturing her lip a little. What was a vamp to do? She could let the bear kill the three of them and then eat them.....then she could simply have her master turn Ira! She knew he wanted that in the first place....but then she would have to leave the bear.
Quin’s palm smacked the side of her head sharply a few times, no no no she couldn’t let the bear kill them.....but if it happened to - she could eat them then? Maybe she could just drink the bears blood. She’d never drank an animals blood - it didn’t smell too repulsive.... She couldn’t just bite it as it was, his fur was too thick and she knew that would taste terrible! As she internally debated the fight would continue on beneath her. Her crimson pupils now dilated as she struggled with her internal battle.
Then - a stroke of brilliance! Aha! She didn’t need to breath, but the bear did! From where it was perched she could easily knock it into the slow moving river and drown it. No need for anyone to shed any blood other than the bear!
Faster than fast, she shot out of the tree and barreled into the bear. She would whiz past them like a shooting star, all snarls and teeth and claws. Using her unnatural weight and surprising speed she managed to knock the bear into the river and continued to use her weight to sink him towards the bottom. The splash on the surface of the water would be enormous from them both plummeting in. Thrashing on the surface initially causing more splashes and noise, and then it would stop.....the water would settle.....only the occasional bubble would come up.....and then nothing.
What Quin had accounted for was that the bear needed air, what she failed to think of was that drowning creatures fought harder. After the initial shock of being thrust into the water and sunk towards the bottom, the bear began to struggle and fight back. Thrashing and swiping its claws around. It’s irrational movements caused Quin to lose her grip and need to float away or she would be clocked by one of its massive paws.
As she disappeared into the muck, floating a little ways away from the bear and down the river, it struggled to surface. Finally breaking the top of the water and heaving itself onto the bank. It heaved and hacked and coughed up large amounts of water, panting and growling. While it was certainly more pissed than it was before, it was for a moment, incapacitated so the others could make a move.
Meanwhile, Quin emerged on the other side of the river bank looking much like a swamp thing. Covered in smelly water scum, seaweed, mud and even a few leeches. She wretched at the smell herself, her overly sensitive nose not able to block it out. But now she wasn’t able to smell anything else, not the bears blood, not human blood, nothing other than river shit. Which, she thought, was a decent trade as she didn’t really want to eat at the moment anymore.

The faun jumped at Quinn's sudden voice joining the conversation, and her eyes searched the area around them before landing on the perched vampire. She gave a thankful smile, albeit a bit strained since her heart was still calming down from the scare. She headed after Ira and Aidan, the tracks that earlier had just seemed like darkened spots of mud were now like a beacon to her. Looking at the bones scattered around the cave entrance, she gulped as she noticed the bones of a deer scattered and crushed among the litter.
Her ears flicked back, eyes widening as she heard the cracking of wood underfoot behind them. As Aidan notched his arrow, Aster turned around expecting Quinn and instead saw the monstrous bear, lumbering atop the beaver dam. "Guys-" Aster started, and winced as the bear roared. Grabbing her daggers, which suddenly seemed small and insignificant, Aster felt her entire body tremble as the bear walked forward. She could smell the beast easily; rotted meat, dried blood and the dingy musk of... Well, a bear.
"N-nasty thing." Aster mumbled under her breath to try and avoid the fear that clung to her. She could tell even at this distance that when the bear stood on it's hind legs she wouldn't even reach the creature's haunches. She took a deep breath to steady herself as much as possible, and darted forward.
The creature took a swipe at her, and Aster managed to dodge; if there was one thing this bear didn't have, it was the speed to catch the light-footed faun when she was expecting the blow. She darted around the side, slamming one knife into it's hide and trying to pull it along the flank but it stuck almost immediately. She yanked the dagger back just in time to get blindsided by another swipe of the bear's paws, and she was thrown back by the force. She hit the ground and rolled, not trying to stop the momentum until she was by the shoreline and she struck a dagger into the soft earth to stop the roll. She coughed, her lungs heaving and body aching, and stood again to assess the situation once more.
She rubbed the side of her head as the bear stood on it's hind legs, roaring once more; now that it was closer she could feel the ground shake from the force behind the roar, and she winced again. There was a small patch of blood from where she'd stabbed it, but it's wiry fur and tough hide was barely marred.

Ira and Aidan looked at each other simultaneously, and then took off at a jog towards where the tracks led. They didn't notice the second set at first, but now that they had seen them, it was like a lighted path. They only had to go a few hundred yards down the steam and they came to the cave. There was some sort of a damn where the river turned into a small pond, but Ira didn't focus on that. Instead he was entirely set on staring at the cave entrance big enough that they could have fit an elephant through the opening. There was no questioning whose residence it was, the of assorted animals littered the entire clearing around it.
Aidan looked at Ira, as he reached for an arrow - "I am going to guess this is it." Ira started to look around and didn't see anything to be concerned about. He checked his ax and shield, and got ready for whatever would come toward him. Ira thought he heard the others catch up, as Aidan started to lob some arrows set aflame into the cavern. It might smoke out the bear, or if they were really lucky, one would stick to it and set it on fire. Ira saw a distant glow in the cave start to spread,
"Maybe fate is on our side today" he thought to himself. He had no objection to taking the easy route.
Suddenly, he heard a deafening roar from towards the river. Ira turned quickly to see what he had missed earlier - the dam creating the pond was a large beaver dam, and on top of it was the second largest creature he had ever seen. It was an enormous bear with yellow eyes, flinging entire logs from the dam like he was a child playing with matchsticks. Even from a distance, Ira could see the beast had claws like steak knives, and was easily twice as tall as a man.
"Here we go" said Ira, as the bear started to notice that his home was on fire. "I hope those arrows are sharp." As Aidan starting pulling back the bowstring again, the bear lept from the dam to the shoreline, and started walking towards his uninvited guests.

Quin, ever the impatient young vamp was practically rolling her eyes at them all. Why didn't they just charge down the stream and get the bear now? The large prints obviously lead the way to a cave not too far.....perhaps that was just her that noticed? Oh yes and she supposed humans and the fawn were a bit more fragile than she. Facts she so easily forgot these days. She itched to just go down there and kill it, but judging by the smell and what she could hear Ira and Aiden talking about, that would be a terrible idea, she'd promised to watch over the fawn too.
As she rejoined the other two, Quin remained in the shadows, not caring to coming out or do anything of much use. While yes she had gorged herself on those bandits not too long ago - the smell of blood was in the air and she was like a shark in the water.
"There are tracks you know." She finally said, revealing her shadowy perch to be in a tree above them, "They lead down the river to a cliff cave."

Ira thought this was a good idea and shoved as much dinner in his mouth as he could before closing his magical bag. He put a cover on the pot, so dinner would still be there when he reopened it. There was no point in having a bag where nothing ever spoiled if you couldn't save a good meal for later. In the meantime he tossed an apple to the faun.
"It will have to do" he told her. Finally Aidan led the way as they scooted down a small embankment and arrived at the brook. Ira kept one eye on Quinn as he started to look around the small pebbles that made up shoreline. Ira went up and down a few hundred yards without any luck. He turned back around only to see Aidan crossing a tree trunk to get to the other side.  It wasn't a very big body of water, maybe a few dozen feet across, but the current was moving fairly quickly and he didn't feel like chancing it. After a few minutes of exploring downstream, Aidan came back towards them and recrossed the brook.
"He's around, no doubt about it." Ira watched as his partner took his time, uncorking his canteen and taking a long drink.
"Well ...?" he asked, finally running out of patience.
"There is a moose down the stream. Big one. It's missing a head, and has claw marks all down its side. The bear tracks lead further downstream, back across to this side of the river afterwards. Don't worry dude, we aren't going to miss them downstream where they come out." Aidan paused for a second longer. "I don't think we are going to miss this thing when come across it either."
