The geisha whispher to each other as you pass,a few mockingly laughing behind long silk sleeves.you can hear something in the pond splashing about along with the shattering of glass.beyond the trees, uou catch glimpses of...something. the howling and growling indicates a wolf or other canine.

The 'geisha' is  instantly gossiped and slandered by their siblings, one even scratching their nails on your wrist, levaing bright red welts as their facial features return to that of a normal human, though still plasttered in makeup.  The knowledge that you once held as A geidha,as a Love floats away.you know though that the Broken Hearted the ones howling, arent as dangerous as the Loves or the Scorned Love in the pond

    “DON’T GO!”
The voice pleads. You might have mistaken it for a man’s, until a geisha starts moving out of sequence and steps toward you with an ornate fan fanning your way like a hundred little hands waving for you to stop. The geisha looks left, looks right, clears the throat and speaks like a man again, and then you might wonder if, amid the kimono that didn’t quite hug curved hips where instead they appeared straight, your male assessment might have been correct.
”Sorry, don’t let my appearance fool you. The makeup is itchy and I don’t know how these two pens got plugged in my hair or how I even got here but I am not one of them.” A red fan waves away any theory that this person was allied with any of these geisha.
”I am Jack Katana.” I fold my fan and sheathe it like a sword. My real one is on my back. I look from the trees back to you. “I don’t know what in the heckeromus is over there but it sounds mean and it sounds hungry so, uh, maybe don’t go..?”

Noticing the disturbed surface of the water, I'm quick to step back from the edge and rejoin Jack. I squint to make out the kaleidoscope of colors swirling within the glass figure. "Well, I wonder if all the colors of the rainbow means the smoke has psychedelic properties." I snort.
I lean closer to Jack and whisper: "I'll be honest, I'm really tempted to grab and dash with it just to see what it can do. Maybe we could hurl it like a smoke bomb if we're cornered by anything nasty. But we can look around first and see if there is anything else worth check out here."
I pull the compass out of my pocket to gauge if it's willing to cooperate, given our new surroundings. I groan when I notice that the needle is still idly spinning. "It would be nice if we could find a more practical weapon, though. Or, hell, just a meaningful lead would be appreciated."

“Woah.” I walk inside the new dimension and marvel at our surroundings. “No kidding,” I respond.
Sophie was busy looking in the pond, so I take a better look around the garden. I stay clear of the figures- better safe than sorry, though I was grateful for the apparent respite- and wander a little ways down the paths. I look to see if any of the sculptures or decorations matched with anything I saw earlier today.

I look around at the Japanese-style garden, feeling almost at peace for the first time during this entire ordeal. "Well, this is a nice change of pace for us." I hurredly glance around at the elaborately-dressed figures I can see peering at us from behind the statues and foliage. I grimace, hoping I haven't just jinxed us.
I creep towards a pond filled with water lillies and glass orbs, hoping to get a better look at what's inside them.

“Damn.” I whistle slowly in admiration. The room was a different type of disconcerting, but a least there wasn’t anything trying to kill us. “Some party. I feel underdressed.”
Carefully moving around the deactivated robot people, I try to open the door.

"I'm just saying, something to hunt with and something to protect ourselves with would be nice. Honestly, anything." I try to picture a military-grade tank rolling underneath a sky shining with a smiley, crayon sun, and snort.
I'm quiet for a long time as Jack finishes his perusal and replaces the objects, dreading voicing the obvious. "Honestly, we might have to risk danger again at some point to get answers here, but we can try to feel the place out as much as possible before it comes to that. And if we are given the chance, arm ourselves with anything. I think the best we've going to get for now is found objects; something that we can fashion into a weapon.
"The butcher's shop might have knives, hooks, that sort of thing -- but we can worry about grabbing those if and when we get there." I shudder. But yeah, you're probably right about the meat. My money's on it being long pig, or something equally...." I trail of, shaking my head.

I keep the compass on me. I feel we're close to unraveling the mystery behind it, but I need to observe it a bit more for things to fall into place.
When we enter the tower, I gaze around at the mismatched time pieces with a sense of dysphoria. "I guess time is broken here, too. Maybe that's why we woke up looking like...this." I wave a hand between us to call attention to our scraggly, unkempt appearances.

“RP-... nevermind.” My head was starting to hurt. I stop examining the statue with the candle to answer. “What would you even do with a club? If we’re wishing for something more helpful, I’d ask for a tank. Or a map.”
I shake my head vehemently. “No, nope, definitely not.” I cross my arms and shoot a wary glance back at the shop. “We know what’s going on in the cathedral. I don’t want to know what going on in the butchers. That place is bad news. Also, I’d be careful of any meat you find around here.”
I put the items back with the statues. It would be hard to carry all of them and we could come back later if we found something. “The clock tower sounds like a good plan. It can’t be worse than anything else here...”

"Not a great idea to eat something smelling of ambrosia in this place. Could be poison. If we get desperate, maybe we can try it later, or find something to feed it to first to see if it's deadly. Speaking of, we should start thinking about where to find something to eat."
I lean heavily against the stony hip of the demoness, crossing my arms. She doesn't seem to mind.
"I mean, they are the central element in this courtyard, in pride of place between all the buildings. And maybe I've played one too many RPGs, but shiny metal objects held by statues in hero poses give me quest item vibes. I just wish their application was a bit less...escoteric. Like, I'd take a caveman's club over an unhelpful magic compass right now.
"If we can find a way to strike a spark, we could try to light the candle. Would be great if we could put it in the lantern, but that doesn't seem to be possible. I didn't see any star-shaped holes in the cathedral, either, but then again, I was a bit... preoccupied." My arms tighten over my chest and my eyes shift away.
"Haven't been to the clock tower, though. Did you see anything of interest at the butcher's?"

“Yeah.” I lift the cup from the woman’s hands and look inside, the smell hitting instantly. Did we ever get hungry in this place? I look at the liquid. “This would probably be a bad idea to drink, right?” I say half to myself.
I move over to inspect the woman with the candle. “You think they’re important?” I look back at Sophie and gesture and the group of statutes. “All of this? You were inside the cathedral, right? Did you see anything that looked suspiciously like a star shaped keyhole?”

"Awesome." I sigh, glancing at the lantern, and notice the latch fused closed with rust. "And let me guess, along with the busted compass and pocket watch, that candle doesn't light, this lantern won't even open, and the star is only fit to be a tree topper. Would be great if they were holding like, a sword or a blunderbuss, or you know -- something actually useful. And no, I can't really make out what's inside, but I don't think the latch will budge." I try to jiggle it to make sure, and as expected, it doesn't move a centimeter.
"Anything in the cup?" I siddle up to the statue of the demoness. "Woah." I whistle lowly. "Well, I will say one thing: these statues are freakishly realistic. I can almost make out the weave of her fishnets."

I stop my examination of the pocket watch to look apprehensively over my shoulder at the fountain, Sophie’s question fresh in my mind. “God, I hope not,” I said.
“Four o’clock, same as the clock tower.” I respond. I consider pocketing the watch, remember the comment about Dracula, and put the watch back in the boy’s hands. “What’s the lantern like?” I motion to her statue as I move on to the next figure. “Is there anything in it?”
I investigate the statue of the woman with the cup.

She's very flirtatious looking, with that sense of danger. Every peice of fabric and fishnet seems like actual cloth, despite being cold marble. The same love and care was put into this one, along with being made for the cup she raised triumphantly.
The cup has a few drops of a golden liquid inside. It smells so sweet and almost intoxicating. Like chocolate and honey and pomegranate

The lantern has a small dial on the side,it's latch to open it rusted shut. you cant see into it really, like the void itself is contained inside

I nod vehemently in agreement and take note before slipping the compass into my hoodie's pouch. I approach the base of the nearest statue, the one of the man holding the lantern, and run my hands over it. I use his limbs as leverage to look for any inscriptions, maker's marks -- anything to help point the way as to how or why they came into being, grumbling at having so much surface area to cover.
I reach up to take the lantern, but pause, and cast a suspicious eye towards the fountain. It continues to burble ominously, with no clear bottom visible through the blood. "This isn't some sort of trap, right? Something isn't going to crawl out of the depths of Dracula's favorite lawn ornament over there if we take more that one object each or something? I would say I'm being paranoid, but no. I don't think I am."
I look over to see Jack inspecting the pocket watch. "What time are you getting on that thing, by the way?"

I nod. “Sounds like a good idea,” I said. “I didn’t look too hard the first time I was there.”
I look down at the needle, but it was already spinning again. A magic compass sounded about as likely as anything else in this place. “Maybe? It paused when we were in the fake lands and pointed back there,“ I gesture in the direction of the cathedral, “but if it’s “magic,” then it’s doing a crap job. I ain’t going back in that building.”
In the familiar courtyard again, I crossed to inspect the statue of the boy with the watch. I remove the pocket watch and check the time.

You return to the statues.because itll be helpful and the narrator feels like it,the bit about the statues will be reposted. Okay, end of 4th wall break. The one nearest to you is of a scholarly woman clutching a candle,a woman with demonic wings and torn clothing. A cup is in her hands,A man in a cloak. A lantern is attached to his belt, this one is of a person...you can't tell the gender. they hold in their hands a small star.. A boy with a pocket watch,A smug boy who used to hold the strange, magic compass you had, they seem to be the youngest. You think you could remove the objects

I take the compass and gamely follow along, watching the needle rotate pointlessly.
I throw up my hands in helpless denial, but he's already pivoted to begin the return trek out of the wasteland. Finding no further argument there, I turn my attention back to the compass, trying to leg it to catch up.
"Normally, a compass needle is influenced by magnetic fields, but I'm assuming that, based on the brand of dream logic in this hellscape, this is supposed to be...magic of some sort." I do sarcastic jazz hands. "I would like to get a better look at those statues, though. Maybe they can offer up something more useful."
At the mention of the statues, the needle pauses and points fixedly ahead of us for a few moments before continuing in its aimless progression.
"Huh, it just stopped spinning for a bit. Has it done that before?"

I glare at the needle, now back to spinning aimlessly. “Here,” I say absently, offering the compass to Sophie. “It’s from those statues in the courtyard. I thought it looked interesting, but I think it’s broken.”
The smiling sun lit the cartoonish landscape with a cheery glow. The cathedral popped out in stark reality compared to the fridge drawing of our surroundings. There were equal conflicting thoughts of safety and danger worming their way through my brain. Ultimately, common sense, a finite resource, won.
“Look,” I started, “this place doesn’t sit right with me. More than usual, anyways. If you’re not going to lead me into some insane cult death-trap, let’s go back to the courtyard.” I started to back up. If she didn’t want to follow, that was her choice, but the courtyard was the safest place I’d found so far that made at least some sense.
