We might not have interacted in-RP, but your post resonates with me. And I must add that I've been RPing long enough to know that all the various reactions (both positive and negative) towards the site-shift are something to be expected. Like, as much as I'm part of the crowd who views the site-shift as a net positive, there are no doubt some things that Valucre does better that PGRP lacks. And for the ones who reacted negatively, even if I disagree with their points I don't think I (or anyone else, for that matter) can or should fault them for any of this. As humans, we're primarily creatures of habit, and what we're seeing right now is what happens when we get a little too comfortable. But yeah, take all the time you need to process things - and if you ever decide to give PGRP a go, I'll gladly see you there! 

I definitely don't fault anyone for this -- this is part of having an RP site, after all, and it has happened with each of the sites I've ever been on. This shift for Valucre definitely seems controlled and positive, and I'm hopeful that things will run smoothly and, once they settle, be fun in the new site! 

I hope I didn't come across as reacting negatively..! I definitely don't feel negative about Valucre's change. It's mostly just that right now, I have way, way too much on my mind: going to therapy and trying to rebuild my other last site (which was forced to shift due to a domain change), plus shifting from Valucre to yet another new site, is simply too much for my brain to handle all at once right now. Its physical function has been deteriorating slightly the last few weeks, and I'm just unfortunately incapable of processing certain things right now because of that. 

Granted, it is always sad to say goodbye to a place/people you've come to like, so that part is a bummer. But, I certainly don't fault anyone for taking it in this direction, and like you I don't think anyone else really should either: it's necessary to keep things moving sometimes! I do hope it goes well, and I probably won't be too terribly far off in keeping an eye on it. One day, I may very well return! 

Hopefully you all have funsies in the new place :D

As far as Valucre itself getting archived goes, there’s no perfect way to notify folks. Simply put, you can’t know until you find out, and you find out by the colorful banner at the top of the site reading “PSA”, whether new member or old member.
To illustrate: If you discover a shop whose merchandise excites you, then see a banner announcing that the shop is closing business, it’s natural to feel disappointed. But that shop also lets you come in and browse its wares, make a parting purchase if you really want to, but no need; because you then discover that the business is setting up a new shop with many of those same wares as well as newer ones. Gives you its address and says they’re already open for business! Up to you whether you want to shop there or not, but you might miss out if you don’t!

Mickey, yes they are but so very rewarding. I'm loving being a mom so far, despite being super tired.  I took a peek at the PGRP, it looks very new. Do you happen to know who is running it? When I have a minute I will have a take a better look. I would love to write with you though 🙂

Supernal is pretty much running it. For the most part all the people from Val will be on PG.

Whether the time is wrong or exactly right is up to you!

I have kids too, and they are a joy.  They are also very time consuming.    If you plan to join PGRP I would like to get the opportunity to RP with you once more.  This is the new site that has been created for those on Val to use once Val's doors have been closed.

I admittedly became wary of status updates like these since I get the sneaking suspicion the end of the reminiscing and appreciating will be a grand spanking "good bye"...but I am most indeed pleased to read that grand spanking part of "I am joining the migration!" Exclamation mark included and my own appreciation in part rather selfish given your participation in City on the Cloud.

On that note, everyone is entirely permitted for that "good bye", and I understand their given reasons, but if I may afford the ramble, well, I've been on this site a collectively long time. When PG was announced? A moment of shock, a moment of awe, swiped away in an embrace of change. That to say how fond I am of Valucre, since we mainly existed on a planet together, and this world is filled with memories that I have a part in. But, see, the world has not ended. It lives on in our successor site. So, for me, it was a no-brainer.

@Dabi Both of those questions are answered in the Migrant Guide. You may post in PGRP's help forum for clarification. Please note that you cannot port over Valucre settings that you have not created.

I think I understand the gist of your words but if it's any consolation so far I haven't even started over on the other site! Just basically ported over the same threads in the same or similar settings!
