“I doubt it was a something,” he said with a small quirk of amusement on his lips. “If I may be so bold to suggest, maybe it was a someone, Your Majesty.”
There is something about a man and his charm, how it can quickly sweep you off your feet, and make you forget what you're doing in a matter of seconds. His kiss made her little heart flutter some, alleviating some of the pressure building inside her chest. She did come here on the words of those lurking in the shadows, and it hadn't precisely occurred to her that her being here would be a problem. Rohini would have pointed it out, but she did not confide in him as she should have. Thankfully Skacharm eased her worries by readily accepting her into the fold of his adventure.
She offers him her full attention by moving her blind gaze to the spot where she can only assume is his face. Hopefully, at some point, she will be able to ask to touch his face, particularly his ears comfortably. There is only one elf that has allowed her to trace their features like one does the constellation - with open, apparent wonder. His ears had been long, longer than expected, and his features were beautifully shaped. Would Skacharm's be the same? She sets that thought aside for later.
"You must have good spies. I just was told about the sighting of Queen Malia in Kinumo, and rushed over immediately. Either your servant was in this area and heard about Malia, or you've got someone close at my court."
"Your Grace!" Areille presses her hand against her chest in mock surprise. "A man of your stature and status should know that a woman never reveals her secrets so easily. The circumstances must be perfect, the mood ripe with opportunity, and maybe a glass of wine or two."
Rohini turned his head to distract himself from the unfolding scene. His laugh was snuffed out by his biting the inside of his cheek. Areille inherited her mother's theatrics and her father's charm, a dangerous combination. He would be a damn liar to say he has never fallen victim to her charms; thinking on it now, he's sure Areille has played him like a fiddle more than a handful of times.
"I'm thinking this might be the last one I take on."
"No. Even if this journey turns up nothing, it won't be your last one. I may have known you a handful of months Skacharm, but I'm certain in my evaluation of you."
Reaching forward, she grabs his hands and holds them. Areille can relate to the turmoil brewing inside the gentleman's heart and mind. With her mother dead, her soul long gone to the rivers of rest, the young lady has never felt so bereft of guidance. Romilly sits upon the throne of Nehalen; his impressive figure envious while swathed in the grandness of the Cartyr name. Still, she knows he is struggling to keep himself together while ensuring Nehalen stays peaceful. Areille may be many things, but she is not a leader, nor is she a provider, and it's worrisome.
She is drowning, and her brother is drowning, they are struggling to find a place in this world without their mother. There's an emptiness to their lives now that they must either fill or grieve and let go.
"You won't give up. That's just who you are, Skacharm." The woman used his name, hoping that he can feel her sincerity, "I will join you, along with my guard, Rohini. For however long it takes, we will help you."

Curious eyes casually examined their surroundings, their gaze traversing the general splendor brought upon the event they've entered. For a moment, she felt strangely out of place hanging on Grant's arm, a position she has become comfortable with over the last year or so. In times before this one, at events such as these, she and others would be the ones skirting the shadows and eyeing the company all in search of danger. No Seeker should leave their post, no matter how warm the company claims to be or however sweet the drink is described.
Those days as a protector are long behind her, but moments such as this draw her gaze over her shoulder to look towards the past. It could be her growing want to be closer to the familiarity of the Free Marshes, far away from the hustle and bustle of the new life Grant has given her. Or it could be the uncertainty that slowly creeps up on her in the most unexpected ways.
Whatever it may be, she can't help but miss her home from time to time. More so now, with her pregnancy progressing into the final months. If she were home, they would be celebrating the upcoming birth of her child, an event that was always held for anyone in the Mythal Household.
Unable to have such a celebration, she was given an item she will cherish for days to come instead. Thrown over her right arm was a long cape dyed black using the various flowers found in the Free Marches. It was trimmed with fur matching those Grant wore (uncomfortably), and the embroidery was breathtaking. Every woman in the Mythal Household worked together to create the cape; every stitch was lovingly placed, the color explicitly chosen.
She was wearing her home's history proudly and happily. It complemented the gown she wore, an item given to her by Grant. The red dress was effortless; it had a plain square neck and long, tight sleeves. It hung past her feet, so it made a small pool of fabric when she stood. She had to throw a part of it over her arm to walk, and it was comfortable enough she didn't feel too overwhelmed wearing it.
Grant draws her from her thoughts, forcing her to return to the now. "And you haven't?" Her teasing reply was followed by a simple smile that caressed her face. He had, of course, mentioned his father's aptitude, "My husband-to-be, are you telling me you did not study the layout yourself?"
She patted his arm in a comforting, almost mocking way. The action furthered her teasing, knowing well enough that Grant is more than capable of guiding them through the thick of anything. "How unfortunate that your poor father must carry such a burden when you should be lifting such burdens from his shoulders, as any good son would."
Even though she was homesick for one place, she has found her place in another: alongside Grant. He is the home she does not have to pine for, as it is right here, close and never far from her touch. How easily the gentleman swathes her in his love, how could she not drown from such unbridled love and joy? It's a suffocating thing, this kind of love shared between them and soon their child, who is determined to kick its mother to her death. Pressing her free hand against the swell of her belly, she laughs, "It would appear our child does not share my harsh opinions of its father."

How she knew him so well, he didn't know. They'd only met a couple of times, and their conversations were not long and in depth. Either she was a great judge of character, or her spies really were that good. However she found her confidence in him, he was touched by her statement. He squeezed her hands in thanks, wanting to show her how much it meant to him, but not having the words that fit the sentiment.
She didn't ask if she could join the party, but stated it as fact. She was the Sovereign and had every right to go where she wanted. He wasn't engaged to her, so he had no say. It wasn't his place to tell her how dangerous it would be on this journey. He hoped her man was good at guarding his charge. He would need all the help he could get in protecting her.
He offered her his arm, and if she accepted he would guide her gently back to the motley crew that awaited patiently for his return.
The group was spread out, but that was fine. He may not be an overly large male, but his voice would be easily heard. “Thank you all for volunteering for the search for the Queen of Seinaru Forven.” His words were clear and sincere. “I need all the help that is offered. For those helping me, you will receive twenty silver pieces a piece.” He heard the pleased gasps that came from a few. “If we find the queen, there will be a greater reward of ten gold pieces a piece, and a small bag of magical crystals, mined from Seinaru Forven's mines.” There were more gasps, and he knew how great a reward this was. The crystals were used for many things; sources of energy that powered homes, lights, vehicles, machines, and full of magic as well for unique an powerful spells. “Please gather whatever equipment you plan to take, for you will need weapons. This is a perilous journey. There are many dangers ahead.”
He was about to turn back to Areille's company, when he felt a hand on his elbow. He turned to see the group of members from the Assassins' Guild, standing together, looking intimidating. He felt power flow from the group. Some were mages, and possibly witches. There were demons and even an elf or two. He didn't see any human, but it would be hard to keep up with such physically adept and magically powered creatures such as these.
“Your Grace, I just wanted you to know we will be coming with you on the journey. A dozen fantastic warriors from the Assassins' Guild. I wish there were more, but some are away on assignment.” Skacharm didn't know what the assignment was, and he wouldn't ask. He knew they were loyal to the crown. To add these men to the group would definitely make enough to ward against possible dangers to Areille.  There wouldn't be an army, but a large enough group for a good defense if needed.  The demon warrior cleared his throat and added in a low voice, “I also wanted to tell you, there is a newly arrived blacksmith. He looks to be talented and is offering his services free of charge to those who are going to look for the queen.”
Skacharm nodded thoughtfully at this. “Take me to him.”
He was led to what looked like a broken down building, with black smoke coming from the roof. There were one or two people curiously standing around, looking in the tiny windows to see what they could see. A rather large dragon had her head stuck in the door, and Skacharm was not going to fight his way in.  He spoke loudly from outside,  “Sir, I hear you are giving free services to those who are looking for the queen. I would like to thank you for such a kindness. It will not be forgotten.” He hoped the male who was working inside would be able to hear him past the blocked doorway.

When she pulled her hood off of her lovely red hair, Skacharm admired her unique beauty. He had never been one to put much importance on looks, caring more about the quality of a person's personality than the way they looked on the outside, but when you were faced with someone so exquisite it was hard not to admire. He stiffened a tad when he heard her call him 'Your Grace.' He didn't feel comfortable with the title, but worse yet he had called her by her given name rather than the new title she had inherited.
“I doubt it was a something,” he said with a small quirk of amusement on his lips. “If I may be so bold to suggest, maybe it was a someone, Your Majesty.” He quickly made sure to correct his mistake of earlier, and give her proper respect. He gently lifted her hand and quickly gave a gentlemanly kiss to the top of it. He lowered her hand and gave a low chuckle. “I do not come this way often in my travels.” He looked over to her man, standing quietly beside her with his lowered head. He was a good sort to distance himself so well, while still being as close as possible to Areille. He looked back to her and lowered his voice, as if to impart a secret. “You must have good spies. I just was told about the sighting of Queen Malia in Kinumo, and rushed over immediately. Either your servant was in this area and heard about Malia, or you've got someone close at my court.” His comment was teasingly light, with a mischievous air. He used to be the Head Master of the Spy Academy, so he was well versed in the commonality of spies for royalty. He had a few himself, though they would be hard to weed out. He taught them, after all.
“Were you thinking of coming on this journey?” he wasn't so crude as to suggest it was a hunt to her. If she came along, more guards would be needed. “I'm afraid you might be disappointed. Most of these sightings come up fruitless, Your Majesty. I'm thinking this might be the last one I take on.” He sighed and looked off into the distance where the group had been gathering. It was a motley crew of creatures that planned to attend. It was usually like this when he went from place to place, looking for Malia. So many had died during the Spirit Wars. She probably had too. He hated to admit it though. He'd done what he could to hold the kingdom together while she was... away. He just wanted to pass that responsibility on to its rightful owner.
“It looks like they are having a nice gathering for this outing,” he continued to Areille. “I will have to go soon.” He would much rather have a nice visit with his almost betrothed, but he had started this and it needed to be done.

    @danzilla3 @Malintzin @The Hound

Sorry about the late reply my brotein shakes! I just needed to do a little digging so I can appropriately respond with legitimate information. This is a bit long (swhat she said) so bear with me
01/30/202: @amenities The day I had responded to our Doc about Riforte giving Cain a piece of the Will.
01/31/2020: You asking to get the down low on the Will and my responses:
    amenities 01/31/2020
so what powas will it give  Cain?
Like can I get an official description of it
Cause I hear Lilith has been killing gods in Nu Martyr and this sounds like something that might cause Cain to roll up
    Aleksei 01/31/2020
So the Will itself is the magical source of Nehalen. It is what gave the island itself life and is an item passed from Grand Kommadant to Grand Kommadant. It gives the leaders god-like powers to ensure the safety of the island and within it.
A good example is Primera used it primarily to do feats of healing. So she could perform hella miracles by healing the earth itself.
    amenities 01/31/2020
Boom so it's perfect that Cain would come to Nu Martyr's defense now
Here is a snippet of the next conversation that involves the current thread:
    amenities 03/12/2020
JW whose piece of Will did Cain get? Where did it come from?
    https://www.valucre.com/topic/43998-kill-me-if-you-can/
Here he's playing 2 primes and inviting people to kill them
Who from what I understand hold some Will
    So like
    Where did Cain's come from?
    amenities 03/12/2020
I I decided I'm gonna have Cain go and kill one of the PRIMEs so I can get even more Will
    Aleksei 03/12/2020
His came from Riforte! She was able to get her hands on a piece from one of Primera’s children.
    amenities 03/12/2020
    Dope dope
    What territory?
    Aleksei 03/12/2020
The entire place lolol. So what is happening is Primera is stepping down as Grand Kommadant and the title is passing down to her child, Romilly. He is Grand Kommadant and that is who gave it to Riforte.
    amenities 03/12/2020
Ah so do other PRIMEs have Will?
By killing them or making deals could I get more?
    Aleksei 03/12/2020
    They could!
Hold on real fast and lemme fill you in real quick.

How much would I need to be comparable to julling all those nu maryyr gids lol
I wanna have Cain have a case if I do anything
    Killing not julling
I want info on how to jump in at or attain an equal level as him
    And clearance ofc
I'm getting to work but I'll read up! Hit me!
This is my screw up! I had assumed (never do this okay kids!) @Ataraxy had stated the PRIMES involved in the thread had pieces of the Will, and that's where my response "They could!" came from as I assumed (nuuuuu) Ataraxy had some other plans that I was not privy to. In reality that isn't true (from what I am being told), and none of the PRIMES that are being killed off in this thread have pieces of the Will
    amenities 03/13/2020
Also who's left that has Will? Grand Kommadant, and PRIMES?
    Aleksei 03/13/2020
Pieces of the Will are actually all over Nehalen. So they can be found anywhere there.
    amenities 03/13/2020
Ahh, so there's just a million pieces? Are the Grand Kommadant and PRIMES the ones with the most on them, though?
    Aleksei 03/13/2020
And yes, there’s a million pieces but the Grand Kommadant will have most of them.
    amenities 03/13/2020

This is another part of a conversation that needs to be touched on so I can be more exact as to what needs to be said and done about the pieces of the Will. This will ensure all parties are on the same track here and everyone can have a better understanding of what is happening This is especially significant because I know you (@amenities) and Ataraxy had conversations as well, but because Ataraxy is no longer on Discord, the conversations are lost. That's okay! I will get to the nitty-gritty here.
    OKAY HERE WE GO BROTATOS!
None of the PRIMES have pieces of the Will. So far the only people who do have pieces of the Will are Cain and Romilly. I haven't opened the opportunity to everyone on Valucre in an event (I may or may not do this, to be honest) to gather pieces of the Will. @amenities and Ataraxy have inside knowledge on it being spread across Renovatio and all that nonsense, which is not an issue due to me trusting both of you to use that information appropriately.
Ataraxy claims he never mentioned the PRIMES having pieces of the Will and the only place mentioning it is in @danzilla3 post, but nowhere else in the thread do we see anyone mentioning the pieces of the Will being on the PRIMES. I also did not go further in depth on the PRIMES having or not having pieces (again, wrongly assumed Ataraxy had mentioned the pieces of the Will himself and had a plan - oops), and that's a huge problem on my part. Romilly would have a majority of the pieces as the Will is basically bound to him; all the rest of the pieces are scattered about, so just about anyone could have them but for lore purposes Cain is the only other person.
NOW! Noooow, if @amenities and @Ataraxy want to discuss one of the PRIMES in this thread having a piece of the Will, I am open to that. It could maybe kick-start something down the road, you know? The Will is a powerful item, so that's why I gave Cain a piece of it, since I trust his writer to use it however he wishes. I also gave it to Cain because I don't want pieces of the Will to go to just anyone and everyone (I believe we briefly touched on that @Ataraxy like forever and eons ago), and he is one of a few characters I know could use it and me not worrying that it's going to be abused..

This was the wonders of creating. The chance to pick and choose, to shape and form the things most important to you; not many get this opportunity, and often enough, those given the power squander it out of greed.
"A monarchy is what you make of it, thus the various names behind it and why they can often be confusing."
She disliked the main focus being that the head of state would be a simple figure when there are so many other avenues they can pick and choose from. They have the power to create their representation of a monarchy, and a constitutional one is just the tip of the iceberg. Philip was great in intervening, opening the possibilities of adding onto the monarchy they are now creating. It certainly made Dalia excited to introduce her thoughts once more, possibly ideas that would be written in stone.
Waiting for her turn, the woman writes down what is being suggested by the other council members. There is just too much being thrown about for them all the properly remember; it is best to keep minutes.
"This is the joy of us having a voice. A constitutional monarchy has some obvious aspects that would be beneficial to us all."
Gathering her thoughts, she continues. "The monarch is still the nominal chief executive who is bound by the conviction to act on the advice of his peers, those peers being the current assembly we have. The monarch would not be a simple puppet strung by the popularity he has accumulated from the people. He will be given meaning, as it is his right."
They would need to come to agreeance to what needs to be outlined in terms of power. That will be a fun conversation, but for now, they need to agree on what comes first. "The idea of people having a say in how their country is run is something that would provide certain stability. The avaricious impulses of the mob - the uncertain people - must be checked. However, the rights of the individual must be protected - such as the monarch's role, as their right is the ultimate individual right."
Nothing lasts forever; people change, time changes people, and there is never a real peace. "But arraying the mob against one person, however glorious, is a recipe for failure. A monarchy needs support; democracy and monarchy limit the worst in each other, as long as the balance of power are maintained. This is where we come in, to decide upon the powers given to us as individuals and those handed to our glorious leader."

    @Mickey Flash
Rohini was in the middle of pestering the young lady for answers when Skacharm approached them. A strange uneasiness wafted through the air, making Rohini turn to the approaching figure first. Citrine's eyes glowed slightly in response to the familiar face; some time ago, Areille was almost given to this man in marriage, but certain circumstances made such an engagement nearly impossible. He wasn't sure if the young lady was relieved or annoyed by the happenings, she has barely spoken about it.
Giving their company one final glance, he looks down at his charge and immediately sighs. The young lady has already thrown back her hood, revealing her delicate features to the entire world. Her red hair was unbound, so it was set free to dazzle and shimmer against the warm sun's touch. What made him stand guard was how she immediately brightened towards Skacharm.
"Your Grace, it's a pleasure to see you once again," she said, her accent coiling around her words.
Letting Rohini go, Areille approached Skacharm. The smile spread across her face was welcoming; it could nearly melt ice it was so warm.
Once upon a time, someone had taken their time to describe Skacharm to her. They said he was handsome (a given, considering his position) and tall, two items that will always catch your attention. She had been interested in the man because her mother would not have handed her child to anyone useless nor worthless. Skacharm was and is a mystery. Their brief encounter was never enough to sate her curiosity.
"It has been too long since we've met. Something was telling me to visit you and see how you fair."
Rohini lowered his gaze, an attempt to avoid the unfolding conversation. Areille has never had the luxury of having a private moment with anyone her entire life, and he wants to crawl in a hole every time he thinks about it. It's practically impossible for him to move away from her; as a sworn protector, it is his job to ensure she's safe. In this circumstance, the best he can do is avert his eyes and allow the two to speak, all the while keeping relatively close.

Aleksei reacted to Tyros in Rath Lux - Extended
Map of Rath Lux - as the Island is known to the Locals.

FLORA - "Look, we've got moss, evil water moss, a berry bush, shrooms ya can eat, a plant with a funny name and a tree. What more could you possibly want?!"
Ambershale Pine - These trees are strangely enough, the only form of trees on the entirety of Rath Lux. Both of its forests are filled to the brim with only this one type of tree, which would indicate that they are somehow special, but they really aren't. Perhaps, a long time ago, there were other forms of trees, but the inhospitable climate combined with the unrelenting sunlight had driven them to extinction. Nevertheless, these hardwood pine trees are named for their ability to produce amber within minutes of being struck, which makes them difficult to cut down and use in woodworking, but also causes them to form a natural coating of amber after being felled, making Ambershale wood possess properties simillar to iron geodes and an indredible durable lumber. All of Rath Lux's settlements use this lumber to create the tall walls sourrounding them as well as some very selective furniture, prefferably not the kind you sit on. If you find yourself alone in a forest, well you'd best forget trying to use this wood to get a fire going unless you've managed to find a large enough pile of especially-dried out lumber. Hunters, scavengers and forestwalkers alike usually work together create such piles of lumber, placing them in places where the sunlight reaches most in order to dry the wood quicker.
Marrowcap - As is to be expected within forests of especially hard wood, one may find these purple-capped shrooms growing out of the very amber mentioned before. Marrowcaps are edible mushrooms, though you wouldn't think that at first glance, or even attempt, due to them having evolved a tough outer layer of flesh, much like one would expect from bone. These hardy mushrooms hide their edible bits inside of their long white stalks which needs to be broken through in order to be consumed as the actual stalk itself is not edible unless cooked for more than two days straight. The caps of the mushrooms are edible as well, but are likely to give you indigestion should they be improperly cured prior to cooking. It should be noted that the growth areas of these plants are highly contested by packs of predators, due to the taste of the "marrow" inside being quite simillar to the real deal, if not considerably more gamy. This is why, rather than as a food source, hunters have often used these mushrooms as components to create traps for larger animals, though this is ill advised for newbie hunters due to the dangers of attracting one predator far too many.
Wanderberry Bush - Small, green bushes with sparse, but edible fruit that tend to grow alongside roads. It is unknown if these bushes preffer growing next to cobbled stone or well-beaten dirt, but one can find colonies of them at just about every crossing or popular stop alongside the settlement paths. Their fruit is a blood-colored berry that gives a short but very sweet burst of juice when popped and is known to possess a strange, almost relaxing effect when consumed. Some have stated that eating these berries during travel helps them stay more alert and awake, require less sleep and generally feel more energetic than they normally do. However, excessive consumtion can lead to a minor addiction. The berries themselves are often used in local pastries or dilluted into drinks alongside springwater. Domestication of the plant has proven to be nigh impossible, as the berries seem to need the coldest of winter in order to form, if they manage to grow out of planted soil in the first place, which is rare in itself. Some older folk claim that the berries will only grow out of soil that they were spat out on as seedlings, which works well with their popularity with travellers, but this is just an unconfirmed rumor that happened to make sense.
Bulgeweed - Despite its rather comical name, this plant is one of the most important parts of Rath Lux's agriculture. It is a form of greenish-brown moss that forms bulbuous, edible pods not that different from potatoes. In fact, you could even call this plant an inverse potato. It is hardy, grows well even when planted in soil of poor quality and does not require much water. Prolonged exposure to darkness seems to kill the plant and any efforts to bring it back to the mainland have proven unsuccessful due to the plants withering suddenly, so the locals have speculated it to require access to the unnatural sunlight that permeates the Island. Bulgeweed is used in just about every aspect of cooking and is the Island's staple crop, but there really isn't much else to say about it.
Muckbrain Ferry - A greenish-black type of moss that grows solely on the surface of water. It is often used by wild mages and witches in rituals as the water used during cooking it gains halluciogenic properties. Scarce few patches of this plant actually remain, as the locals detest any form of drug use with rabid fervor and actively work to burn down and exterminate the plant. That said, the criminal element of the Island has managed to create large farms of these on underwater lakes and are currently attempting to create a drug based on it called Iceflake, though it seems they are having some difficulties. Perhaps, that is for the best!
Luxian Culv - This is the dark green moss that covers the entire Island. It can grow on stone, has no actual value and just serves to make the place look nicer. Its only notable quality is that, due to their darker coloration, the moss seems to absorb a large amount of sunlight, causing it to be noticably hot to the touch.
FAUNA - "There's the good beasties and the bad beasties... though sometimes, me Bessy makes me think otherwise."
-Domesticated Animals- Unsurprisingly, the Island's cadre of domestic beasts is pretty much as to be expected: chickens, cows, goats, horses, pigs and sheep. They aren't any different from what can be found elsewhere, except perhaps hardier than most and not quite as populus. This is mainly due to the locals prefference to consume the meat of the wild animals rather than their domestic equivalents. Most think that this is just because the wild variants taste better, but some jaded minds think that there's a darker reason for it all...
Runehide Deer - These deer are the most populous animal of the Island and can be found pretty much anywhere. They have coarse hide which grows in strange, circular patterns that the male deer often use to strike poses in order to attract females, which has given birth to more than one rather comical moment, as hunters preying upon these are liable to suddenly lose their composure and start laughing at the unfortunate deer making poses and attempting to look good for the females. Even more so when the females end up being completely disinterested and annoyed at their continous attempts. The bucks should not be underestimated though, as like anything else on the Island, they can be quite deadly as their antlers have evolved to be able to rip apart Ambershale bark, which should be a good indication to what they might be able to do to people caught in their furious charge. Their meat is extremely valuable and delicious, being apparently infused with a form of natural magic and their furs make up the majority of Rath Lux's clothing industry.
Pale Bear - What happens when you throw a bear on an Island with preternatual sunlight that never fades? A pale bear. They are nearly completely furless bears with permanent black spots under their eyes and overextended frontal claws. These bears have been denied their need to hibernate and forced to adapt to the environment. These poor creatures eek out a meagre living, being incredibly weaker than regular bears and highly susceptible to disease. This existence of suffering has caused the creatures to be extremely agitated and aggressive, attacking everything and anything on sight. Thankfully, their disease-ridden glistening white skin makes for poor camo. Unlike their cousins on the mainland, these bears hunt in packs that can range anywhere from three to twelve and use hunting tactics simillar to lions in order to isolate and successfuly catch their prey. Their apparent weaknesses should never cause anyone to take them lightly as they are currently the biggest cause of death for everything else on the island, even exceeding the massive criminal underworld with their bloodthirst.
Garn - Massive wolves with glistening black fur and that grows both all over their body as well as around their necks much like a lions mane, with the average member being about two meters tall and one and a half meter wide, with jaws that would make a shark ashamed of itself. Nobody knows what exactly caused the Islands native wolves to transform into these dramatic, horrifying beasts but for the average person, one thing is certain; if you see a Garn, its probably already too late. The dangers presented by these monstrous wolves is often forgotten however, as everything they possess is valuable. The meat around their spines is as tender as high quality steak, their bones make delicious soup and can replace traditional iron for toolmaking and their exquisite fur is very popular with the richest of merchants, whom are more than willing to pay a premium. The mane'd heads of these creatures are highly popular as throphies, mounted on walls and the beast themselves are the champions of many local stories, the idols used to make statues and artistic representation in general. A dead garn is valuable indeed, but a living one? Only the most skilled hunter could ever hope to tame such a creature and the secrets of how this can be achieved is hidden well, though those who have tamed a Garn say that the secret should stay a secret for good reason. This has done nothing to stop the bravest of fools in attempting to do so.
Winterwing Roc - Large, white-feathered birds of prey that inhabit the mountains of the fjord, preying on the wilder variants of domesticated animals, such as mountain goats, wild hogs and horses. Not much is known about them, but their eggs are often used in omeletts. The breast meat of these animals is a popular and sought after food source for the locals, though outsiders often find the meat to be tasteless or even disgusting. Their feathers are a crucial component in the crafting of dresses, arrows and traditional jewelry. Some aspiring hunters have also tamed the beasts and their high level of intelligence has turned them into the primary "mailmen" of the Island. Despite their meat and feathers being valuable to the locals, killing these creatures is a crime as they are considered sacred, being one of the few wild creatures that are not innately hostile to the people of the island. They can easily reach the height of the average person and can easily carry more than twice their body weight, which has caused some braver people to use them as flying mounts.
Wanderstalker Python - Named for their use of the Wanderberry Bushes as hiding spots, these long pearly-scaled snakes are the nightmare manifest for many travelers. Adults can reach over six meters in length and have a poison that sends a shock to the targets brain, rendering them unconscious on bite. Many consider the Pythons to be a form of Island monster, but they are not officially recognized as such due to the fact that they are intelligent enough not to consume people, even when spooked, they aren't actually venomous as their poison seems magical in nature and are popular as pets for the locals. Like all the others animals of the island, their meat is delicious to the locals and abhorrent to any outsider. Their main food supply are rodents, such as mice and rats, but sometimes, the largest among them can hunt bigger prey, such as mountain goats or even the unfortunate Winterwing Roc, whose nests they will often raid for eggs.
MONSTERS - "... monsters?... you mean the bloody Garn and Pale Bears AREN'T, considered MONSTERS?!"
Trolls - Mean, big, tough, strong, disease ridden and semi-intelligent, these cruel creatures typically live in caves at the bases of the mountains within the fjord. They will raid, despoil, plunder, ravage and burn down everything they can, driven by a senseless, deep-seated jealousy of all other races, even things like insects. Trolls are such a menace to society that even the bandits are respected more. Kill or run on sight, because they can be expected to do exactly that to you.
Ettini - Giant, mountain dwelling humanoids, each equipped with the intelligence of a particularily dim-witted child. Unlike what most may think, Ettins are extremely peaceful and may not even attack you on first assault, as they understand that people are afraid of them and its not like a few arrows or cuts will do any actual damage. They will often try to befriend anyone they see and work hard to please them in order to achieve that friendship, much like bullied, outcast children. Many take pity on these poor creatures for it and its not exactly rare for an Ettin to become part of a village or even live within Heavenshire itself, trading its immense capacity for manual labor for food and social interaction. While the abuse of Ettins is not a direct crime, people doing so will find themselves being despised by society, which suits the criminal element rather well, as they turn some of the Ettins into slaves and living siege machines. That said, an Ettin is just as dangerous as one may think. They may have the personalities equivalent to exiled children, but children too can be pushed too far... and the damage that an angry, likely-teary eyed Ettin can do is a terrible wonder all on its own.
Hemocraze - The Hemocraze is not one beast or a singular type of monster. Rather, it is a form of disease that causes immense bloodthirst within the individual, whilst also causing them to develop greater strength, agility and nigh-implausible willpower. It is not known how exactly one may contract this "disease", but it has been known to affect pretty much every inhabitant of the Island. A hemocrazed garn will devour its own pack and have its eyes turn crimson, a pale bear will relentlessly carve away at everything before it dies from an overtaxed heart, a normal person's veins will bulge and they will go berserk until those same veins pop and cause death, a troll will grow as large as an ettin and become five times as horrible, runehide deer turn into carnivores with a prefference for human flesh and so on. Some have speculated that this disease comes from the Hemorrhagic Gas released during Emberite mining, but the miners themselves seem unaffected, so this is considered false by most. It should also be noted that the Hemocraze seems to exist solely on Rath Lux, as taking a crazed person away from the Island on time is the only known cure. However, even with the berserk effects gone, that person will forever be changed from the experience, causing many of the afflicted to kill themselves right after regaining their sanity.
Dryads - Spirits of the Wild that can take upon many forms, be they animal, plant or even humanoid. Despite what many tales of exotic, often erotic, encounters with these creatures may tell you, they are the entire opposite of what one may actually expect from these creatures. Their forms are too many to be described but one can usually tell that a dryad is in their presence due to the vines and tree roots covering whatever forms they choose to take. Killing a dryad is something permitted only in the most dire circumstances, as their presence infused the land with magical energies, increasing its value in many, many ways. The villagers of Vitas Village, for instance, have several "tamed" dryads that helps them grow their crops in this otherwise impossible climate in exchange for the fulfilment of whatever flights of fancy the dryad may have. They are ancient creatures, often centuries old and the locals tend to view them as respected elders rather than monsters, with a few of the aspiring newfound cults even viewing the enigmatic spirits as living gods.
    PLAYER INDUCED CHANGE
    @Frederika
Since Frederika introduced three new plants to the island, things have changed. The first plant has been the Arthrostylidium Reflexum, a new kind of bamboo that she introduced to the island. It's a fairly tall, yellow, and thin plant of bamboo, which has big green leaves towards the top of it. It is usually called by the locals with a variety of colorful names: Lemonstalk, Pisstuber and "tall yellow fuckers". Thanks to its properties, it has found a variety of uses. Having a new kind of wood has allowed people to make different things, first of all, been housing. This kind of bamboo is much lighter than Ambershale Wood, but still has a good degree of sturdiness attached to it. The houses made out of bamboo needed different building techniques to build properly, otherwise, such buildings would have been easy targets for thieves. That's why people started to mix both the woods to make new buildings. The houses made out of Arthrostylidium reflexum only are cheaper than the Ambershale Wood, resulting in the least wealthy to slowly move into those, making an even more clear differentiation between the rich and poor, even if it helped the extremely poor to have a roof over their heads. People being people led to some discrimination towards the least wealthy, even between insiders. Arthrostylidium reflexum is also being used to make simple tools, kitchenware, and furniture. The sudden need for more and more bamboo has made woodwork rise, creating new required jobs for the population, some immediately mixing it with the same artistic designs learned by sculpturing marble. The seeds of the Arthrostylidium reflexum, as well as its leaves, are also used to make new foods and beverages, giving the people more culinary variance for day-to-day life. The second plant is much different. It's a modified alga which absorbs the properties of the water it's put in. The alga itself is a red one, with thin branches and semi-transparent, orange leaves. The leaves are edible. The Palmariales, as she calls it, is exclusively used from Frederika to produce a special, light, highly-addictive drug which she sells for a high price, or that she uses to bribe others. The drug itself is similar to marijuana, but a sort of improvement. It makes people high to the same degree and extent but is highly addictive. It is said that while high on the plant, you see life and everything else from a different point of view, much clearer yet at the same time dizzy, some even daring to call it a third eye. It's also said that you can both eat it or smoke it inside a bamboo, which is the preferred way by many. It's unconfirmed if the producer actively makes use of it or not. The drug is known as "Red Belladonna". The last plant has been seen by very few people. The Dandelion is the same plant you can find outside of the island, the only difference being the slightly bigger build. People that have seen them said that they were gathered in small patches of the land, really close one to the other like they couldn't grow properly.

Ursa Madeum was a complicated place for Grant.
In years past he had come to the islands with his mother to reclaim the land of her ancestors. For him it had seemed a fresh start; his life as a wandering mercenary done, and his future as the Prince of Hyperion lay before him. For a time it had been everything he'd hoped it would be. He had put all his efforts behind the burgeoning THRIVE initiative; working to heal a country deeply scarred by the Tyrant who previously held the throne. The work was tiring, and occupied much of his time; but it was more rewarding than any victory on the battlefield. In addition to this, he had fallen in love with a woman whom he had planned to marry. Though her status as a lich had caused some friction with his mother, she had made peace with it. For the first time he could remember, he was happy.
Misfortune, however, was not finished with him yet.
When Hyperion City had come under attack by a sinister Djinn and an elvish princess who had unleashed a psychic plague upon the populace. Grant had led the counterattack, and was forced to take the lives of many he had sworn to protect. Ultimately he had succeeded in stopping the spread of the corruption, but at the cost of the city, and the reemergence of the split personality S6. Eventually his mother had found the human wreckage he'd become, and helped him recover his sanity. But more bad news was to come. His love had disappeared, no one knew where, and the Hyperion Empire had been asked to leave Ursa Madeum. Everything that he had worked towards, taken from him in the blink of an eye.
Through the darkest period in his life that he could recall, he had found refuge in his family. Raveena had been an omnipresent figure of comfort and caring; often the first face he would see upon waking from the nightmares that plagued him. However, she was not the only one he would reconnect with. Finally, he had time to spend with his siblings; finding a depth of love and adoration that astonished him. Even his father had finally woken from his coma, reuniting the Knight clan.
But the final piece of the puzzle had come in the form of the woman with whom he now walked arm-in-arm. The Prince had met Delphine on one of the last diplomatic missions he had undertaken in Ursa Madeum. Their attraction had been instant, and their romance swift. She complemented him perfectly, and he did the same for her; two troubled souls finding peace within each other. It wasn't long before she became pregnant, and the two were to be wed soon.
Tonight, however, was for Varda and her husband; to celebrate the love that united them. Whats more, he was glad to have the opportunity to enjoy an evening with his family in its entirety. It was even worth the clothing he had to wear for the event. As his father demonstrated his knowledge of the grounds, he turned to his lover and smiled.
"Didn't I say it? I bet he's got the whole map memorized."

Magnus and Dragan ha listened to all that had been said and knew all that they could say had already been said. Both men saw the advantages of such a form of government.

In the council, Magnus had the third highest influence, trailing behind Dauner and Philip, so it would come as no surprise that his opinions influenced those of some other council members. Dragan on the other hand did not possess as much influence, but he had a great deal of charisma, and a deep love for the people so he would only ever speak in their interests. Dragan was also a fervent admirer of Dauner’s though it didn’t show too much. He admired how Dauner could always keep a cool head in all situations and how the tiny settlement he had started turned into a city which was about to become the center of a new nation.

Dragan was the first to voice his opinion from the two. “I couldn’t agree more with your proposals. I honestly don’t have anything else to add. I’m all for the idea of constitutional monarchy Philip has proposed”

“Same here” Magnus added. “I believe this is for the best, so you have my vote”

One by one, other councilors expressed their agreements including Rakham, Jessica and Tad. The only one left, was Dauner. Eyes shifted to him expectantly. Not all the councilors knew him well enough, but it was no secret that he wasn’t interested in power in the least. So they were assured that whatever his stance was, he wasn’t going to try to take the reins. In fact, he might instead try to give it to someone else, and Philip was everybody’s guess.

“Sir Dauner, what do you think” Dragan asked expectantly.

“I agree with all Philip said”. That was all that was needed for the idea to come through as the final decision.

“Great!” Dragan exclaimed. “I guess that means we’ve arrived to a decision. So I’ll go ahead and initiate the next part of the discussion. I’m guessing the council will be in charge until the members of parliament as well as Chancellor have been fully elected. But what do we do about the monarch? It’s obvious the throne can’t be put out into the public for an election. So we’ll have to pick someone. I, and I’m guessing a couple of you here present have the same idea. I propose Sir Dauner as first king of Jiyū. It’s no secret among us that he was the founder in the first place. So technically, without him, none of us would be seated here having this discussion so it only feels right that he be the one. In addition, having someone who is less likely to fall prey to the power of a monarch feels to me like the best way to keep a balance in the political environment” he finished.

Dauner was taken aback by the proposal and needed time to recollect his thoughts. In the meantime, the other councilors would voice themselves on the matter. “I agree with Dragan. I too think Dauner would be the best fit for the throne” Philip added. “Also, I’d like to add. I think we should have another name for the nation than Jiyū. As it is, there are a couple of other towns and villages outside the city that are still a part of the nation. Having a nation that shares a name with its capital city can get confusing at times. So I brought this up yesterday in a discussion with Dauner” Philip said throwing a glance at Dauner. From all indications, Dauner wasn’t really with them at the moment, so he went n ahead to present the idea himself. “Dauner had the idea of naming it The Kingdom of Hasturia, and I support it fully” he finished.

The compliments did not go ignored. Most of them were able to draw a bit of a smile from Riforte's lips, which changed the overall architecture of her face. Riforte was prone to offering the bare minimum, making her appear cold or perhaps lazy. Such descriptions would not be far from the mark if she is to be honest about herself. For this gentleman, she allowed herself to relax the tightness surrounding her lips, and uplift the annoyance from her perked brows.
Pocketing the words for later use, she returns to the task at hand. Maybe later, when they do have dinner, and they're not burdened with great purpose, she will thank him for his honesty. She knows how attractive she is, she has cultivated her looks over the years to be as such, but his praise of her went beyond that. He had the unfortunate joy of peeking at her soul, peeling back the layers of years of self-abnegation.
"Besides the wonders of your company, Sharps, what I need from you are your skills."
Withdrawing a worn map from the folds of whatever pocket is on her person, she goes about explaining to him the prevalence of this mission. Saying that this meant a great deal to her would do nothing. She did not want to persuade this man with words of praise, nor did she want to draw him into her personal life anymore than what's necessary. The item they will be acquiring is something bearing a kind of prevalence she can't rightly describe.
Donning the hat of leadership crookedly, she spreads the map before them. "There is a Lord here carrying a velvet bag, about the size of a man's fist, and so far it hasn't left his sight. If it's the item I seek, it is precious. If it's something that will lead me to the item, it's still as valuable."
"Apparently, he got into a bit of a tiff with someone and has made his home here. He's probably drunk and won't immediately notice if he's a pound or so lighter." Pointing at the front desk, "We can find out which room he is staying in from the registry. Find him, take the bag, and then sneak on out."
It was simple enough - is anything ever that simple? Experience tells her that they will probably be met with some obstacle or another, making it a pain overall. "I'd like to leave the place clean; we knock people out and hide their bodies. If we need to get dirty, I'm okay with that too, but only in the worst circumstances."
Golden hues were glowing at this point. She has been searching for this item for years, and now she's close to getting her hands on it. Her excitement was enough to bring her to tears, but she wasn't going to give Sharps the pleasure of such a sight. Instead, she offered him a smile, the same one he had drawn out of her earlier. They're in this together, and that is saying much, especially if one is to consider Riforte's track record of letting anyone close.

"I can't make the rare promise and say that I will never be mad at you, Odelia."
She was not a child that needs to be sheltered from the hatefulness of the world. Austere would never treat her as such; thus, he will not offer her fantastical things that do not exist in any society. There will be times where his wife will do something or somethings that will cause him to react, but one thing is for very sure.
"I can promise you that I will never raise my hand at you or strike you. We were married due to contract, but that does not mean you are my property to do what I wish."
He takes a seat next to her and gently wraps his arm around her shoulders, pulling her close. "Just the other day, you forgot to water the little plant on my desk. I was peeved, but not enough to say anything about it." He joked (kind of). It had been a minor conversation, mostly due to his stress, something he tried not to push on her. Odelia listens to him with more kindness than a saint, and at times he may be taking advantage of that.
It took him a bit to answer her question because it mostly came as a shock. "I'm a terrible romantic, aren't I?"
Austere sighed before laughing a bit. It had never occurred to him that he's not spoken the words allowed. Saying 'I love you' is not used often within the household; love is mostly shown through action, and he had assumed that was enough. Clearly, it was not. Feeling a bit ashamed for not saying the words earlier, he leans down and places a soft kiss atop her head.
"It is very remiss of me not saying it so earlier, imp. I just assumed poorly that all I did was enough to show my love for you. That's wrong, and I know that now."
Giving her another kiss, he relaxes against her. "I love you very much, and I mean it. I'll make sure to say it more often, but not too much; I don't want to wear it thin."
Knowing that now was the best time to tell her that, aside from having a child, a massive change is about to happen. Their lives are about to be uprooted; the worry has been eating at him for months now.
"Odelia, tonight ... Milorian will be announcing House Mythal's removal from Ursa Madeum." He spoke against her hair, using the spicy scent of the warm strands to keep him grounded. "Our house has been offered land in Renovatio by the Grand Kommadant Primera."

"You can have it if you want. I think it'd look nice in the pocket of a blue suit paired with brown wing-tipped shoes and a brown belt."
Now she was just rambling, filling that weird space of silence that had stretched between them. Never much of a conversationalist, Riforte is trying her hand at being a talker. The years of being silent and letting other people do the talking for her has ruined her social skills. Oh, and the randomly killing folks and making dirty deals in dark alleys, they have also made her a terrible person to speak to.
Any time she did have a conversation with someone, it was under the guise of a figure that never existed. The many faces and personalities she has picked up over the years have left her feeling confused about the type of person she is. Riforte knows she likes pretty things and has ambitions, but they are small and could easily be ridiculed by those that've made her realize how easily disposable she truly is. No salt there, though.
The woman clearly knows one thing about herself: she's comfortable.
They went about their business, his words being quietly thought upon as they finished up their job. She was sure on how to answer him, as there is a myriad of ways she can play her hand here. Should she don her hat as Riforte, or will she choose another? The playful woman would get her somewhere, but she feels this man won't fall so easily for her change in demeanor. She could not answer him and go about her business, except that it isn't as fun.
"Vincenzo, Vincenzo, Vincenzo .... Corleone," she finally says, bopping her head every time she repeated his name. She was trying to get the flavor in her mouth; the accent of this place was pretty, romantic even, and she wanted to add it to her repertoire. "Vincenzo Corleone and Riforte D'Marcus, we sound like a pair."
Him not knowing her made her smile at him. "I guess you haven't been around my block, bub."
Reaching into the depths of her pocket, she withdraws another cigar and places it between her painted lips. It's a dirty habit, but it's the last thing in the world that's going to kill her. After lighting the cigar and inhaling, she sighs, trails of smoke escaping her parted lips. The very action seemed to relax the woman to complete ecstasy; it certainly did wonders to the tremors that dared to rattle her bones.
"And I'm here with you because I decided I would rather be here than in there," she says, gesturing towards the party behind them. "Too many people and I'm not really desperate for company at the moment."
She offers him the cigar, noting that sharing is caring. "I'm going to ask you the same question, though. You look like the type of guy meant to handle the doors and throw people over ledges, but your mind is a bit too calculated for this mundane work. So, what are you doing out here with me and not in there mingling?"
Their conversation was interrupted with the arrival of Isadora and someone else - a follower, perhaps? Turning completely in her seat, Riforte openly eyed the gentleman that over-towered Isadora. Golden hues brightened before they dulled, leaving the question hanging in the air: who are you? @Veloci-Rapture

    "You...!" (@Veloci-Rapture)
Isadora poked Nunzio on the chest; there she was met with the strength of a gentleman who has had his fair share of fights. She knew he wasn't weak in any way, shape, or form, but that poke made her more aware of a strength that should not be underestimated. It also made her laugh, how could a ridiculous person such as Nunzio be so many things? His power was nothing compared to his welcoming manners, at least to her.
"Now you're going to have to perform for us, and I won't take no for an answer."
The conversation carried on for a few more minutes, allowing her some time to think about her approach. Riforte was there, but she had yet to enter, which meant she either left or got distracted. The latter felt more reasonable, and the woman has shown to be a bit of a social butterfly when she put her heart into it. It had been through a chance meeting Isadora and Riforte met, and since then, it has been difficult to shake the woman off.
The time to move was made for her when a little tiff erupted not far from the bar. Keeping her interest in check, she watched as a capo was carried away. She was not annoyed that blood was spilled, it can be cleaned up, and the evidence disposed of. Honestly, she was not annoyed by the entire thing at all, as scuffles like these really add a layer of fun to a party.
"Nunzio, escort me, please. I've got some business to attend to, and I'd feel more comfortable with some company at my side." She could have asked Jacob, but she felt it necessary he stays inside.
"I know it's rude to take the dinnerware, just this once I will overlook that and give it to you as a parting gift," she said upon their approach. Amelia (@Ataraxy) was someone to be admired, Isadora certainly does yet she won't speak that aloud or else she'd get spit on. "Let me help you with that, though. I don't want your drinks ruined by such a nasty sight."
Isadora ripped a piece of her dress and draped the ruined piece of fabric across the eye still pinned on the fork. "Place them on my tab, please. Replace the linens as well; we can't have our guests dining in filth." The command was given to the nearest waitress, who was quick to shuffle away. "Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you."
Don't ruin anything else, was what her words were meant to be shaped as. They are guests, so she chose not to chastise guests about their unruly manners. Offering the table a passing smile, she gestured for Nunzio to follow her outside, where she found Riforte questioning the doorman - Vincenzo (@Darthgamer101).
"Because he is excellent at the job he has been given, Riforte." Isadora's tone was warm but barely welcoming. "I see you would rather attend to the needs of others instead of my own. I invite you here to mingle, and you snub me so openly." Her final words came out sarcastic and almost playful, with just a little nugget of truth to them. "But I can't really blame you for getting distracted. Vincenzo has earned your eagerness; he is an enigma."
