  1. Setting: Pirate's Cove, Misral, second largest island in Ursa Madeum. Dead of night, calm weather with a full moon showing. Genre: Medieval fantasy/intrigue Objective: To convince the pirate lord to swear fealty to House Uldwar to serve as a makeshift navy/privateer operation. Danger level (Average): As this is a diplomatic mission, violence is not to be expected, but it is possible. Aggression towards the pirate lord or his lackeys will result in them returning the attack in kind if not worse. The use of characters with calm heads is not mandatory but is advised. Character death will not happen unless owner of character wishes for it to happen. Reward: Substantial amount of gold, recognition within the court of House Uldwar and possibly your own pirate ship. Desired Story Arc (Subject to change by participant request): A secret meeting is being held with the Pirate Lord of the Pirate's Cove in Misral and Lord Uldwar, Patriarch of House Uldwar and majority landowner in Misral. In this secret meeting, Lord Uldwar intends to recruit the Pirate Lord and many of his associates to act as Privateers in behalf of House Uldwar, to both protect their trade routes and harass the ships of their competitors so they may build up their own businesses. Through this House Uldwar would begin to start outfitting and improving on Pirate's Cove, making it it's own bustling city in a sense as the raiding would bring in more gold to the area. One twist that will come of this story is that the second oldest daughter of Lord Uldwar, Mia Uldwar, will be on the ship disguised as a boy. Whether or not you notice her will be up to you, giving you the choice of either turning her in to her father or letting her be and interacting with her a little. Should the pirates discover her it has the possibility of jeopardizing the entire negotiation, that detail is dependent on the people involved. Overall this isn't going to be a very action heavy thread (unless you the participants want to make it such). It really does depend on what the interested parties want. Should a tie come up on this decision I will weigh on and break said tie. What Roles Am I Looking For?: Minimum is one player to play as the Pirate Lord but I can play that role if no one wants to. Other than that you can play as either a mercenary in the employ of either Lord Uldwar or the Pirate Lord to make sure the other doesn't try anything funny. If you wish to participate in a different capacity then that is fine, just let me know and we can work it out on this thread. Please post a character sheet if your character has one (otherwise a short description of who they are and what they do) if you are interested in this kind of story. Expectations: Expectations are good communication, good behavior and an open mind towards other people's ideas. Posting window is once per three days, but I will allow at least a week so long as you let us know in the OOC thread that you need more time. As this will be a canon thread we will be going by the mild power settings and for the standard amount of words per post. Created Opportunities: Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!: A valuable shipment of rum has gone missing! Discover it's whereabouts to receive a nice reward from the proprietor of the local taverns within the Pirate's Cove. Quest Type: Repeatable Reward: Some gold and a free night's stay at the tavern. Post Requirement: Ten or more Something stirs beneath the waves...: A sea monster has been spotted making trouble in the seas! Kill it, and bring it's briny hide in for a reward. Be it kraken, hydra, or royally pissed off snapping turtle, they'll be the perfect addition to your maritime legend! Post Requirement: 20 or more Quest Type: Repeatable Reward: If turned in to House Uldwar, a grand party held in your honor with a magical item made from the beast you have slain. If turned in to the Pirate's Cove, a raucous party will be held in your honor, with rum and women aplenty. A magical item will also be made from the beast you have slain. X marks the Spot!: There be buried treasure in a deserted island somewhere in those seas. Find it, claim it as your own, and reap the rewards of your labors! Quest Type: Repeatable Quest Reward: Large sum of gold coins and jewels, plus one item made from the Terran material list. Post Requirement: 20 or more
  2. Alright I’m looking for any good rps but I do want some good one on ones to fill in the space between big rp posts. It’s a lonely world. I have some ideas of my own not listed knowing it’ll push people away but also trying to lore people who want to build up a relation ship. I’m down to do most anything with some exceptions. But I wanna know someone before I make a broad pitch so I can angle for something they like. I’m long for a long term partner. i can manage a paragraph or be literate but I usually try to match my partner’s post length. Be warned we’ll probably end up being friends
  3. Introduction Mechanics This is a long section, so if you hate board games or rules, you may want to move on. But if you've read to this point, you should be somewhat interested, right? Here's an image to entice you before I delve into the rules. Rules
  4. Tl; dr : An independent space colony that’s been radio silent for 15 years contacts all open channels in Alterion with a distress signal. All political parties are vying for control and information. This is an older thread that never really got off the ground. I’m looking for a small group 2-3 people to join my mercenary in his expedition. The Rebels want to raid the colony for bio weapons, anything useful really, then blow it up and the Masons claim to want the same but (secretly) want to raid it for weapons then drop the colony on Izral because fuck that area in particular, amirite? Plot Synopsis The year is After Riva 1018 (AO 28). It has been fifty years since a collective of Alterion's brightest minds headed into the vastness of space, intending to start a new colony, absent the involvement of any Company, only to never be heard from again. That was, until a transmission came through all open Alterion Channels with a terse horrifying announcement. The voice is small, yet heavy, weighed more by sadness than fear. A child's voice, or what was once a child, at least. "We can't stop it. We've tried everything. They're all dead, we will be soon. The colony...the colony is..." The Masons, Alterion's leading political party, have remained silent, but the Rebellion is certain they will take action, if only to investigate the possibility of a bilogical weapon. The Rebellion cannot allow the Masons to best them, in this. Rounding up nearly all of its funding, the Rebellion has put forth its best, brightest and most expensive operatives in order to investigate the troubled colony. The stage is set for the the Rebellion's resurgence and the Mason's downfall. Any takers? The ship has officially left the station, so further posting would operate under the assumption that you’re on the ship headed for badass raiding times.

    Yh'mi: Lirrey Lines OOC

Many mysteries of Yh'mi have been explored, though answers have been rare. One of the more enigmatic elements of Yh'mi remains nearly untouched, travel unfairly discouraged by the Order of the White Hand for reasons they can't even properly elaborate upon. The Village of Lirrey. Entrepreneur and adherent to science, Doctor Xeyal wishes to fund an expedition to Lirrey to properly investigate the strange village and open up a possible trade route. I will be sending Doctor Xeyal's pet monster Sasha to accompany the group and @jaistlyn and potentially @Dolor Aeternum will be joining in and as well. I am looking for two other players interested in traveling deep into southern Yh'mi to investigate this strange town. A standard 72 hour post rate will apply. This is a canon thread, so any creative contributions made to Lirrey (within adult reason and following theme) is very likely to become lore. Now's an excellent chance to carve your name into horror history. Are you brave enough to accept? Current Roster: 1. Sasha - Reinholdt 2. Lunara - jaistlyn 3. Agony - Dolor Aeternum 4. Voldemort, Lord 5. Karuna - 1lionFang
  6. Hello all. I've started a thread in Aelindra, the sole purpose of which is to steal a prototype for my character. My plans for the thread are pretty low key, and open to everyone. I imagine there will be some infiltration, some fighting, and a speedy exit from the town (see: fleeing from the authorities). For a more in depth breakdown of what I plan on doing please scroll to the bottom, otherwise, here are some keywords to give you an idea of what this thread will be like. Cooperative storytelling Mid level fantasy, with Magitech. Mild Powers (important!) Casual Thieving/Heists Low Impact - no/minimal killing, emphasis on low property destruction. Strategic - Not just a fight, I hope. If you are interested, check it out, here is a link. Otherwise keep reading below if I haven't captivated your interest yet. This thread is open to all, but will be low/no turn order. I wanted to try a new format, I will be the 'anchor' so to speak. I'll be posting a minimum of once every three (3) days, sometimes more often (but no more than once a day). Everyone and anyone else who would like to participate is encouraged to post in between these times, pushing the story or interacting with characters however they want. I think this might either provide an interesting freedom of choice and action, and I can bring everything back together to drive the story when necessary. My only request is that you don't post multiple times between my own posts, to prevent the thread from derailing, or stepping on other people who want to participate. No runaway trains here. From what I have read on Aelindra I imagine it to be a rather modern city, bustling with an enormous amount of people, and driving innovation. My character, Tad, has come to Aelindra in search of a piece of prototype technology. He is resolved to stay in the town until he has taken it by any means necessary. He plans to first steal the security plans for the building that he wants to burgle, followed by burgling the building itself, and finally escaping with the prototype. Since this will be illegal activity, our characters will be actively hunted by the town guard, and unable to use any of the more regulated means of public transportation, such as crossroads, airships, etc. So long as nobody kills anyone, the risk should be pretty minimal, no risk of character death. Mild powers are required for this thread, preferably the lower end of mild powers to keep things interesting. Magitech is more than welcome. Since I will be posting on a regular basis, and anyone can join at any part of the adventure, anyone who shows up will be part of my characters premeditated plan. This is just to help gloss over any awkward timings and introductions, that way we can keep the story flowing. Nothing like joining in the middle of fleeing the town guard to make things awkward/difficult to write. If you need or want to leave, feel free to write yourself out, anybody who doesn't return will be assumed to have contributed their part to the plan and have returned to whatever they were doing before. Again, this is just to keep things flowing. I'm not a fan of when threads start to stagnate as you wait on one person who might have another obligation or doesn't have time to post for a while. Genre: Mid-Fantasy/Magitech. Location: Aelindra, Genesaris. Idea: Stealing a prototype from a heavily guarded building. FAQs: None yet. Feel free to post any questions, as I am sure I have missed some detail or made something unclear, or jump on into the thread. Constructive criticism is always welcome.
  7. The dangerous marsh found on Genesaris. You know of it. A recent call to arms asks adventurers to dig deep into the marsh and uncover the unknown, and hopefully clear a better trade route THROUGH the marsh rather than around, for previous safety concerns of citizens. Only the valiant and clever can find and overcome what lies within! This isn't a canon thing, but it's an idea I wanted to play with along a group of people. I'll be creating the thread shortly and then inserting a link here. Heck, you'll discover some fancy gems I'm sure for a nice price on the markets ;)

    Seven Swords Stolen!!!

So @The Shy Fennec gave me a fun idea that he's gonna participate in, as well as myself while storytelling. Taking from an idea from Naruto and the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist, I'm bringing a twist to Valucre. A powerful woman has stolen seven mighty blades, each tied to a deep and powerful secret, and has hidden away in her own personal fortress. Located in one of the most dangerous areas in all of Valucre, these trap-laden halls must be traversed and overcome before this enchantress can bind the swords to her will and gain god-like powers. Who wants to join the call and maybe get a one-of-a-kind non-canon item in the process? lol
  9. I have this little area in Blairville called THE TOWER. It's a 100 story tower whose floors have been segmented into zones made up of multiple floors. The zones represent a space far greater inside than outside, some of them covering many, many miles of space, and the zones pivot around a central theme I haven't come up with stuff for every zone but the members who had claimed two of the previous zones are no longer active on the site so I wanted to make them available for the general public. These are the FOREST and LIBRARY zones. You can read more about the zones, and their descriptions, in the zone information and claim history thread here: https://www.valucre.com/topic/26044-the-tower-zone-info-and-claim-history/ Historically speaking this requires zero or light GMing, with some criteria spelled out before hand which the players must meet in order to first interact with the local Guardian, and then defeat it. Unless otherwise agreed upon it'll work as follows: 5 posts, per player, exploring the zone until you can come across the <necessary component> to summon or interact with the guardian TDS Basic to defeat the guardian. The player that does the most damage to the guardian when it is defeated claims stewardship of the zone. Players are mid tier and the guardian is Nova tier; presumably more than one player will be vying for the zone I think that about covers it but this is mostly going off of memory so if there are any questions let me know. Otherwise if you're interested in a zone, post here with the zone that you want to go after, and when enough people are selected, we'll coordinate the creation of the thread that you all can post in to claim it Registered players LIBRARY Frostbinder Princeben07 FOREST
  10. A lot of the RPs on offer here are quest-type RPs, where a group of magical mercenaries band together to defeat some evil/claim some treasure/explore some land on the whims of some third party. I find they don't tend to foster close inter-character relationships very well. I hardly seem to get to talk to anyone! Just post how cool my character is and then read about everyone else's cool characters. So I would like to play a RP on a smaller scale, where characters have more investment in each other. The setting will be a small town somewhere in Valucre, barely bigger than a village, and the characters will be the town's locals. We won't be playing as magic-wielding super-assassins but rather regular townspeople (regular for valucre, anyway), with skills more attributed to village life. For instance: Torie is a young, shapeshifting druid who seems perpetually stuck in the form of a tiger. She arrived at the town two years ago and took over the running of the mill and bakery, after the owner became ill. She is valued by the village due to her muscle and baking but her lack of wandering (and taste for baked goods) has seen her become extremely fat. Out of the watermill by the water she also runs a bakery called Torie's Treats. When she's not running the bakery or the mill she helps look after Geena, the old mill operator's widow, and allows herself to be harnessed to ploughs and the occasional cart to help transport things around the town. She will also lend her exceptional strength to building tasks, such as moving heavy beams or stones into position. She has a crush on the blacksmith, Hank, but he remains in human form, making things particularly awkward, though when she's free she'll hang around there to chat and watch him work with his shirt off. Obviously some skills (like strength) are transferrable to adventuring. Some character flaws would be good too. Torie's flaws are gluttony and laziness. I would like the village to be facing some sort of challenge, or mystery. Fairly high stakes for the people in the village. Missing villagers, perhaps? A disease that is turning the villagers into vegetables (mentally, not literally)? Maybe a disease that's affecting the crops. I'm open to suggestions in this regard. Something that will involve travelling into the wilderness outside the village and confronting the problem, growing closer to each other along the way. Looking for a minimum of two other people, maximum of three, to keep things running smoothly and prevent stagnation, but everyone is free to use the village for original stories, as it's developed. Let me know if you're interested! Edit: Further idea development (suggestions welcome!) Gotsed hasn't changed for hundreds of years, as far as any of the locals can tell. Nestled in the foothills of the ... mountains, it is a quaint place that has remained safe despite the goings on in the wider world. It's resources are abundant, from sheep to vegetables to salmon, stone and timber. The people are poor but work hard, and are content leading simple lives, complicated only by the town gossip. But lately some of the villagers gave been having dreams. Nothing odd about that except they've been having the same one. A figure on a hill, calling them from far away. Now those who are having the dream have begun to disappear, with signs they've wandered up the mountain path with nothing but the clothes on their back. Search parties have gone looking for them but have returned in vain. Some of the searchers have even gone missing themselves. It might be your friend or your relative or your neighbour, but you also have lost someone to this strange wanderlust. You'll soon be making the journey into the mountains, to search for those who are missing. About Gotsed A town of roughly 200 souls. It was founded on rocky but fertile soil, good for grazing, with nearby forests and a salmon-rich river. There are caves a three day's walk up the river, as well as scattered mineral deposits that are sufficient for the town's blacksmithing needs. Other villager roles Farmers: vegetables, fruits and nuts tend to grow best on the slopes around Gotsed. Wheat is imported from the next town, which was founded on flatter ground. Fishers: Gotsed borders a tributory to a substantial mountain river. Though just a series of large pools interlinked with waterfalls, there are plenty of fish, turtles and a few swimming mammals for those willing to get their feet wet. Salmon tend to come for the winter, too. Goat/sheep herders: tend their flocks on Godsed's green slopes. They were the first to arrive in Gotsed, and the town was named to them. Blacksmiths: usually making farming tools such as shovels, hoes, pitchforks or ploughs. Also hunting knives and arrow heads. The blacksmiths may also double up as miners, given the local iron ore deposit. Tailor: makes clothes. Tends to be woollen products given the local sheep flocks. Inn: Gotsed has no inn as it exists on a dead-end road. Travellers usually find accommodation as guests of the townsfolk. Butcher: prepares local meat. Baker: turns flour into bread, sugar and fruits into cakes, etc. Coker: makes come suitable for smithing from wood burned in special clay mounds designed to limit oxygen. Teacher: teaches the small children numbers and writing. Forester: cuts down trees and runs the local sawmill. Chirurgeon: a doctor/surgeon of moderate skill. Doubles up as a barber. Elder: those oldies of sound mind are generally considered in charge.
  11. On Biazo Isle, there’s a species of territorial crab called the Bramok. Think big motherfuckers the size of Shaquille O’Neal. Or Big Shaq if that’s more your style. They’re unique to the island’s south-eastern coast, where it’s part ashy jungle (kind of like a lush version of Morrowind), part-lava field. They’ve made their nest in a small canyon located near the base of the Baiyale volcano. Recently, the Bramok have become way too aggressive in their expansion because I need a valid reason to kill them. On top of the crabs, there’s also this loony bin tribe of modern degenerates that worship the Bramok as gods. They hunt for the crabs, protect them from harm, kidnap villagers and sacrifice them for drugs. It’s all very symbiotic. Details on that later, if you’re interested. Basically, the military’s been called in to destroy the Bramok nest and wipe out the tribe. At the same time, this’ll hopefully make the land safe enough for the establishment of a faux-ton post, and maybe a research outpost in the future. My character, Echo, will be a part of this mission. Anyone can join but priority goes to military characters. Also, it isn't first come first served. tl;dr: venture into an exotic wasteland, kill drugged-up tribals, fight multiple Big Shaqs, burn down the nest. Maybe you’ll get paid while you’re at it. This will likely be a bit of a slower, more flexible thread (3-5 days to post?) due to life, other threads, and the fact that, occasionally, I kinda need to sleep. That said, it'll be somewhat of a long-term commitment, though hopefully not too long. I’m looking for about 5 people. Got any questions or comments, lemme know either here or via PM. Same goes if you wanna get in on the action. Thanks for your time, fam

    Sword and guide for hire

Jon Kowal is a master of the land. Adept in survival skills, well-travelled and an ex-soldier in a mercenary army, he's just the kind of person you'd want to hire if you were travelling the less civilised roads of Valucre. His secret weapon (which usually doesn't stay secret for long) is the three animal companions which share his soul - he uses them like you use your right arm or left foot. With an owl overhead and a tiger patrolling the road ahead, and a giant ice bear pulling up the rear, it's unlikely you'll ever be surprised if you choose Jon for your sword arm. Looking for at least two people who would like to hire an armed escort and guide in their travels across Valucre. Strictly on-foot or horseback travel only - Jon doesn't cater to people on airships or using any means of teleportation/portal travel. You'll preferably be the kind of person who would likely hire an escort, whether it be a treasure hunter/dungeon crawler, an assassin in foreign lands, a rich (or poor) lord or lady, or someone who expects attack at any moment. Even a farmer with livestock or produce to move. Disclaimer: Jon is already involved in another RP so this won't be canon by any means. I just want to use him a bit more than the pace the other RP allows:).

    Extinguishing the Flames of Hate

Now that House Uldwar has established itself with a new city on the island of Misral, there are many challenges left to deal with. One of the more pressing challenges is the local populace, around one thousand approximately, who are aggressive towards the newcomers to the island. The reason they are angry towards them is thug House Uldwar was once aligned with the Tyrant King Damien before the invasion of Taen. Many times they were sent out to pacify and to subjugate the native people on the island, with many atrocities being committed under the current Patriarch, Oscar Uldwar's, direction. These tensions have flared up in many of the surrounding villages refusing to trade with the people of Port Mars, to more extreme cases of violence being committed to those trying to settle on the land itself. If things aren't taken care of soon, an open revolt is bound to happen, and rumors suggest the natives have access to an old supply cache of weapons leftover from the oppressive regime. Efforts to make peace with the natives so far have not gone well, but the eldest daughter of House Uldwar, Illyana Uldwar, believes her plan will finally create peace. She has commissioned a small convoy of food, medical supplies, clothing and clean water to visit the major villages on the island to help with their needs. It is her deepest hope that this will help foster a more supportive relationship between the ruling government and the local populace so that things can run smoother on the island. However in order for this to work she will need help in protecting the caravan, which is where you folks will come in. I am looking for a small group of people to work with on this writing prompt. In order to make things more interesting and challenging, there is also a no killing rule in effect on this thread. Slaying any of the natives or anyone else in the area that Illyana finds out about, then your character will be fired from this mission and asked to leave immediately. Should Illyana die during this quest the thread will immediately be considered a failure and drastic consequences will be written out as to how that will effect House Uldwar. The turn order is going to be loose because I don't like to keep people in an order. Everyone will post once in a round before I start the next round with a post of my own. The goal of this thread is to reach at the very least three pages, but a minimum is not being enforced. Those that succeed will be rewarded greatly for their services.
  14. Thread: Players: @Aleksei @Grizzly @danzilla3 @Alexei @Garion @Grubbistch @Maverick @EpicRome23 Posting Expectations: 1 per 3 days. I am going to be very stringent on this! You will be skipped if you don't post within those time requirements. I am wanting to make the success of this quest canon, so I'm going to be pushing hard to keep this thread on track and 100% completed to The Hummingbird's standards. I will tag you when it's your turn to make sure you know when you're up. Where: Whispernight Ruins - Kuratel. Kuratel This leader in innovation left behind an airship filled with magically-enhanced rifles among a ruin of stone, steel, and dead bodies. Two dragons guard the city against intruders hoping to do good, one a Red Dragon and the other a Black Dragon. Both are lich lords and highly intelligent despite rotted brains, though they are more animalistic in nature and can barely talk. The airship was known as Heaven’s Mercy and is still operational. Warriors from afar have discussed grabbing the ship and fighting the dragons in the sky, suing the ships; powerful firearms to kill them both, then flying away with the ship’s army-full of rifles and guns in hand. The problem is fighting their way through the horde of geists that surround the airship base itself. There are other airships – Warrior’s Soul, Paradise High, Hellion Sky, and more – yours to keep if you can down the guardian dragons and their army of undead. - By @The Hummingbird What: A woman named 'She' has pasted flyers anywhere and everyone for people to see. She is looking for some hardy adventurers to go with her to the Whispernight Ruins in Genesaris, and get the airships - Heaven's Mercy (+ the magically enhanced rifles inside it), Warrior's Soul, Paradise High, and Hellion Sky. If you join her she expects all the ships and the extra goodies to be delivered safely to Aelindra or else no one gets paid and she will make sure you get punished (IC you won't be killed or anything, but you will be hunted down). Goodies: Your characters will be rewarded for their services retrieving the ships and their goods, and delivering them back to Aelindra. This opportunity is for characters looking for wealth and constant flow of work. After the success of this quest, your character will have an income that could sustain a reasonable living for the next 3 years. You will be on a list of people who will have first dibs on a job, which you can deny or not, you're not strapped to take every quest. I will be your DM for this quest, so your characters will have countless opportunities to get other goodies, like weapons, enchantments, etcetc in the quest. Hello everyone! Hope this Interest Check grabs you This is open to everyone. With me being your DM I will make sure to ensure to accommodate everyone the best that I can, but I will say this: This won't be a walk in the park, nor will it be a sprint across lava. It'll be difficult considering there are all sorts of things in the way to a successful completion of the quest. Expect your character to get injured and a little lost. No deaths unless you want me to kill your character, then that's cool, just let me know. If you have questions or concerns, post them here!

    More Important is the Journey

More Important is the Journey has some openings again! After taking off from Dragonsoul Summit in an Airship, being raided by pirates and crash landing in the mountains, only a few of the original party members remain. The wherabouts of the others are unknown. Lost, dead or injured, their fate remains a mystery (OOC: they left the RP for various reasons, mostly life). There are essentially about 3-4 openings for people to join our RP, More Important is the Journey, as they try to brave the terrible mountainous wilderness and head to the nearest bastion of civilisation, Stormward. To join you will need a character who: a) Was on the airship that was attacked by pirates and crashed. You'll need a reason for them to be travelling from Dragonsoul Summit. b) I'll allow one player to generate a character who has a remarkably good reason to be in the middle of nowhere between Dragonsoul Summit and Stormward - ie. who wasn't involved in the crash. Your character doesn't need to know our characters. Probably simpler if he/she doesn't. It was a big airship with lots of passengers:). The situation: the airship has crashed remarkably gently, being still partially buoyant and is pinned against some cliffs on a mountainside by the wind. It's essentially resting on the slope of some mountains. Below is a snowy slope leading down to a valley of boreal forest. The season is autumn and it is pre-dawn, ie. very early in the morning. Flexible post rate and order. Quicker is better but we've gotten quite slow in our old age. But don't let that slow you down if you want to post often. Please let me know if you'd like to join and with which character:). Read more about the OOC thread here: It's by no means necessary, but if you wish, you can read up on the existing RP here: Old info follows. It gives a general idea of the purpose of the RP: Edit: A position is available as of 19-1-18. Put a message here if you're interested. So far the heroes have haggled prices for bodyguards etc and are now about to board an airship to Vdara. It's likely they won't make it without some problems;). So if you'd like to join you'll need to have a character travelling from Dragonsoul Summit to Vdara via airship, and come up with a valid reason for this. Jon is a sell-sword, a ranger, a druid of sorts and something of a drifter. Journeying from place to place he calls everywhere home, and is more comfortable in his sleeping sack around a campfire than in a musty inn. He usually provides guard-and-guide duty for travelling caravans, though he travels alone just as comfortably with his own animal companions: an ice bear, a tiger and an eagle owl. He's telepathically linked to them so even when they're not in sight, they're usually nearby, and he knows what they know. I'm after a roleplay about travelling, making friends, companionship, sharing the road together. We'll pass through beautiful landscapes and through harsh and pleasant weather, inspect the occasional peculiarity like old castle ruins or druid circles, isolated villages and prosperous farmsteads. But mostly it'll just be our characters sharing a journey. Because the journey is more important than the destination, especially to someone whose home is anywhere. I'd prefer to keep our party small. Maximum of 6 characters including Jon. The less we have the more regularly I'd like to post, but I'd like something at least once every 3 days. Flexible posting order according to need and availability. If you know youre going to be away for a post cycle then that's ok. Just make an excuse for your character to be absent for a bit. You can read about Jon in the character threads. I'd post a link but I'm currently operating things from my dumbphone. Will put one up later. You should also be warned that Jon has made a few enemies out there in the big wide world. We're bound to run into a few. He also has his own agenda. His wandering isn't aimless, even though it can take many dirdctions. It would be very cool if your character had a specific personal mission/ambition as well. Something that involves travelling. You can pay Jon to go with you or you can offer him your services to travel for free with him. This was partly inspired by a road trip I've taken with my family. We're on the last leg of it now. We'll have covered about 5000km by the time we get home. I hope to post some photos soon, just as a bit more inspiration. Post below if you're interested. Include what your character's motivation will be. You can lie, but Jon wouldn't trust anyone who says they're just travelling for the sake of it.

    Reclaiming What is Ours

This writing prompt is a focus on the aftermath between the small trade war between House Aetherion and House Horbrace in the Great North. The short end of this story is that the two noble families went into a trade war after Horbrace slighted Aetherion, and Aetherion subsequently won said war. Now House Horbrace has been forced out of the Great North leaving all their holdings to the victor House Aetherion. Unfortunately there are a few problems to deal with before they can fully settle on their new land. Three of the biggest problems are: Setting Rewards Requirements I am looking for one to three people to take part (more can take part if enough interest is gathered) with a loose turn order with every post round being started by myself. This thread will likely not have much action in it, leaning more towards character development and diplomacy.
  17. Courtesy of friends of mine who indulge in a variety of Lovecraftian/Cthulhu-based tabletop games, I wanted to gather a small group of players who would like to partake in the adventures of the unknown, and the spook that lies therein. I'll be roleplaying a character of my own, and I'll even push the story ahead as it needs for players to adjust and find things to do. I just want to see where this suspense/horror will go~ Premise: Cthulhu or other greater elder things are at our doorsteps. Through a series of strange happenings, you will journey and discover what is the root of the evil happenings all around you. Hopefully your mortality won't be the end of you and you can hold off the grandest of lore from clutching the world in chaos.
  18. The remote nation of Norkotia, a small, isolationist confederation of city-states, is in need of some unscrupulous foreigners for a handful of tasks. The current administration is trying to stamp out its underhanded political opponents, while at the same time expand the borders of the confederation's legal influence. While much of this will be handled by locals, there are a few jobs that need a special touch. Each of these are separate RPs. I don't intend to do all three of them, since I'm not sure I could handle GMing that many at once while still fulfilling my existing obligations. On that note, I don't intend to start these threads immediately, so give a few days from the point of recruitment before the actual RP gets started. Mission 1 -- A gunslinger and his henchmen are harassing a town outside of the Norkotian sphere of influence, trying to prevent it from joining the confederation. The local sheriff is in favor of joining Norkotia officially, and expresses public support for the current Norkotian chairman, Joseph Tynes. Unfortunately, the sheriff has repeatedly failed to defeat the gunslinger. A foreigner is hired to kill the gunslinger, but with one caveat: They must somehow make it appear that the sheriff is the one who did it! (1 - 2 players) Lack of interest Mission 2 -- The mayor and sheriff of an outlying village have repeatedly resisted offers to join the Norkotian government. It is suspected that they may have been bought-off by local mining companies and land owners. In order to persuade the people to push for annexation into Norkotia, a band of foreign mercenaries has been hired to murder the sheriff and threaten the town, but not destroy it. (2 - 4 players) Mission 3 -- The CEO of the powerful BlackBlood Energy Corporation has been causing political and logistical problems for the Norkotian government. Unable to penetrate his stronghold, the government seeks to contract a small band of foreign mercenaries to break-in and dispose of the CEO. Though it is preferred that he be taken alive, killing him is also acceptable. (2 - 4 players) Full Rewards will come in the form of unmarked silver and gold bars (mostly silver). I'll be handling most of the plot characters, minor NPCs and area descriptions. As noted, I will not do all three, at least not at once, so which ones get selected will depend a bit on how much interest I get and what order I get that interest in. Also note I reserve the right to decline players if I am not confident in them for whatever reason. I intend to get the RPs canonized, so I expect good quality posting from any joiners! Lastly, I would definitely appreciate players reading Norkotian lore, but it is only optional. The general setting to expect is a sort of blend of the American Wild West with the 1930s, though some of the technology can be as new as the 1980s. No computers or digital tech, however. Magic is also severely impaired, so your characters will only be able to work their magic at approximately 25% of its normal power. The population is mostly human with a few elves, so non-humanoid species will be regarded with suspicion. Be sure to ask me questions!

    Need some burglars...

A Case For Journalistic Integrity Genre: Western/Dieselpunk/Fantasy Location: Norkotia, Terrenus Idea Info: Okay ladies and gentlemen, this is going to be my first open RP set in a city that I’m building-up. Since the location is my creation, I’ll be GMing the plot and controlling most of the NPCs. I only need one other writer as a minimum, but I’ll take up to three. This is not first-come, first-serve. I would like to canonize this thread if it actually happens, so I reserve the right to deny people based on their posting reliability, writing quality or character choices. (Makes me sound like an ass, but would like to make this a quality thread.) Also, I’d ideally like for you to read up on Norkotia before signing on, but I’ll give a brief summary of what the place is like so you know if you’re interested or not before wasting time reading the whole article: Now that that’s out of the way, here’s the RP’s story premise: The recently elected chairman of the Norkotian council is exceptionally unpopular with the current ruling elite. The chairman’s supporters suspect that the media is collaborating with corporate and political leaders to unfairly undermine the new regime. Now, a few months after the election, several shady characters have began moving about the city, seeking criminals, transients and foreigners for a secret mission. Indications are it involves breaking and entering a facility to steal something, but details are kept vague until the prospective burglars were willing to commit to the mission. Once they have committed, they will be given a mission briefing from an individual over a voice recording. It will then be explained that their task is to break into the headquarters of the Norkotian News Corporation, the city’s largest media conglomerate, and search for any information that would implicate the news media giant of collusion with other entities. The facility has no magic barriers or high-tech devices, but it is guarded by private security guards and is of sturdy construction. It is preferred that the burglars accomplish their goal undetected. Payment will be less substantive if no incriminating evidence is recovered. The PCs will be paid in the form of unmarked silver bars. The RP can either start at the secret assembly point where the PCs receive their briefing, if people prefer that to be on-screen. Alternatively, this can be skipped and the players can start outside the NNC building and start the burglary right off the bat. As I said, I will GM the NPCs and will try to describe most of the settings and scenarios. If you decide to create a local character, run it by me first, but I generally expect everyone will be providing "foreign" characters. I'm probably forgetting some piece of information, so keep an eye on this post in case I edit new things in. And be sure ask if any of you have any questions. I've never officially created an RP or GMed an actual plot on Valucre before, so bear with me.

    Quest: The Bold and Unwritten

There are times where one might find oneself at the precipice of destiny - where the actions we take and the moments we miss have the power to change everything. They can appear in the mundane choices of our lives, the consequences something only appreciable after a great deal of time has passed. But this is not one of those times. Mounting tensions threaten to crack the diverse social strata of Terrenus apart and set neighbor against neighbor, friend against friend, family against family. This cannot be allowed to pass, for if it does, the history books will be written with Terren blood. F.I.S.T. has been working tirelessly to identify and intercept threats to the already failing stability of the region before they can grow. But they are stretched thin, and the opportunists are many. It seems inevitable that a single seething ember will slip through the cracks and set the already tense situation aflame unless something is done. Favors are called in. Ranks are called. A few disagreeable conversations and well-intentioned bribes take place. Slowly, manpower begins to trickle into the F.I.S.T field offices. Some are the best and brightest of their divisions, seeking to make their names across more than one branch by cracking the big cases wide open. Others are simply there to help regardless of where they're put to use. Still others are sent because their own units couldn't find anything better to do with them. But no matter their origin, every one bears the insignia of Terrenus and the weight of their task on their shoulders. In this vast effort, those who monitor communications are unsung heroes. If the investigators are arrows, then the Comms department is the aim that guides them. For weeks now, one small dissident group after another has been searching for any artifacts of power to tip the scales against the Safeguard initiative. The leads often fizzle out before anything major is found, and even then the few legitimate threats are quickly stamped out due to their lack of resources. It's all fine and good until a flurry of frantic communications erupts between three groups of suspected instigators Threats fly, and it isn't long before bodies begin to show up, torn apart by brutal spellworkings and weaponry. It is immediately apparent that something big is going on. The only clue to what they have begun to fight over is a repeated reference to "Drago's Opus." It is initially believed to be a weapon of some kind, but none of the research departments are able to track down anything concrete. Until one T.I.T.A.N. private tugs on a loose thread in another investigation - a book merchant with suspected ties to the underworld information trade. The staggering truth comes to light. Illyushin Drago was a warlock of considerable power who died long ago under suspicious circumstances. His final work was believed to be incomplete - a total exploration of how one can create truly gargantuan spells or rip them apart with apparent ease. In the hands of those who seek chaos, it is an armament of sufficient power to plunge the entire Blairville region into bloody chaos. You might not be the best F.I.S.T has to offer, but you're the best they can spare. Destiny calls. Will you take the plunge? If you've got a military character you've been dying to use but you're not that crazy about blowing things up, this might be the thread for you! Join a group of misfits as we attempt to keep the right knowledge out of the wrong hands and maybe, just maybe, get promoted in the process.

    Honor Among Thieves OOC

Here's where you can find out what the top stuff means. Danger Step:4 | Post Step: 5 | Quest Grade: S- |Reward: Post Credits+Item It appears that a new guild started up in town and as one could imagine, the established guild isn’t happy about the competition. Normally, the guild would just go to war with the new upstarts and remove them from the picture themselves, but as it turns out, the new leader is a clever bastard. Part of the reason why they are so difficult to pin down is that they are not operating out of one location, but out of several cells connected to the greater network. Rumor has it that there is a central location, but only the guild leader remains there, none of his lieutenants. The organization is complex and difficult to pin down; it will take a great deal of legwork to unravel. Hence, the longtime guild is hiring out, looking for a group with the right combination of investigative skills, tenacity, and “muscle” to take care of the problem. In order to bring down the guild, you are going to have to locate all of the lieutenants and eventually the leader, taking each one of them out. There are a couple ways to “take them out”- you can capture them, obtain evidence of crimes, and then turn them over to the guards or you can just kill them, keeping in mind that discovered bodies lead to bounties. Either way, it will not be easy. If you choose to seize them and turn them into the law, you will have to extricate each one of them without alerting the other thieves, as they will just warn all the rest. If you choose to kill them, you’re going to have to take out all the present members as well. When you successfully complete the mission, the thieves will make it worth your while. Not only will you get paid, you’ll receive what is called a “Guild Token”, a mark of honorary guest membership to the guild, granting you access to certain privileges. You will be alerted to where guild contacts reside in the city, which opens up access to favors they can grant for you. They can tell you where to find available fences (people who buy and sell stolen or illegal goods) They can provide you with info gleaned off the streets as well as generally reliable rumors They can set you up with hired help, should you need someone to do some… sneaky stuff for you If you are trying to outrun some thugs or have guards hot on your tail, they can get you situated at a safe-house or bring in backup to help you fight them off. You will be told the location of some guild networks, which will help you move about the south district without detection, and can get you past the south gate and into the east district without paying the tax. Minimum group: 4 Recommended group: 4-6 Danger: You will be dealing with a criminal enterprise who would much rather stay in business. When you threaten the wellbeing of anyone, they tend to fight back, and when you threaten the wellbeing of a not so nice group of people, you can expect some not so nice responses. They are organized, carry big numbers, and you can expect many to be pretty competent combatants- tread carefully, and do not underestimate anyone. Storyteller: Recommended, not required. I am looking for at least 3 more people for this. I'd prefer an infiltration and take down from within strategy, if possible. As such, thieving abilities are a must. Also, competent fighting might help, but may not be required, depending on how we want to do this. As the post in the link above says, posts must be at least 150 words. 25 posts per person.
  22. In the link below you'll find a first post involving one of my characters, a blindsighted P.I. who's taken some time to enjoy some tea and waiting for the future love of his life to walk through the door and offer to share his table. Points to note if you're considering joining up: I like wordy posts. So much I ensure that my posts are at least 150 words long, though it usually reaches the 200-word mark. I expect the same This character is good-aligned. No evil characters, please. This character is also straight. That means female charrie, not genderless. You must be willing and able to post at least once every few days, though everyday is preferable (this extends until the 25th, after which my posting speed will slow down to between "1 per week" to "1 per 2 weeks" Any takers?

    Feast or Famine

Genre: Fantasy, Adventure, Mystery, What-the-F*ckery Location: Terrenus, Northwest of Doughton You've spotted a small, torn notice hung on the very corner of an open board as you pass by it, somewhere in the area of Doughton. It looks different from the rest, catches your eye, and it draws you over to lift it from beneath the nail that holds it. At first, its faded ink makes reading tough, so you bring it closer to your face, noting the faint smell of... old barn. Perhaps it's been in the sun for a while. You wonder how long? Intrigued, you begin reading: Please help. We herein seek those in Terrenus skilled in the investigation and resolution of complex and extraordinary occurrences, those who hold no fear against the unknown or unsightly. We, the citizens of Loughmiller, have befallen an unfortunate fate: Endless hunger. Our people can't eat the food on their plates; it falls to ash before they taste it. Many have grown meager and have become desperate. Our small, humble town holds poise on the cusp of collapse. There is naught for hope among us, as even the food imported from Doughton fails to fill our stomachs. There are children here. We don't have much money, but we'll pay whatever we can with the means we've got to anyone who can find out how to stop this. You may wonder why we don't just leave. Simply put, we can't. We are two days of travel on horseback directly Northwest of Doughton. I'm seeking 3 - 4 people for this who have characters with skill sets, occupations, or personal interests that would likely respond to the above notice. Didn't want my WC post to get massively complicated my first round back. Hit me with questions :)
