Upon the Horizon [closed]

The battle had been waging for hours. The darkness of Xildax and his army had flooded into the streets of Morgana with a terrifying might. Running over the defenses of the city, it was apparent that the Knight of Diligence and his royal court were waiting for back up to arrive. Word had been sent, and they knew that they would have to hold out long enough for friendly reinforcements. Fortunately for them, an unexpected ally from the Red Sands would make his own appearance with a small militia at his command.

Upon the horizon of the skyline the pours the last bit of sunlight onto the city, a sea of red floods the sky. Large wings beat against the wind, talons sharp, claws present, and massive maws cry in hunger for battle. Among the creatures in the sky, the impressive Bone Wyrm would be the most noticeable of all. Upon the variety of dragon-spawn that take flight, dragon-kin warriors from the Red Sands are armed and ready with various pieces of armor and weaponry. It had taken time, but knowing of the situation at hand ahead of time gave them the advantage they needed to make it just in time to slow down this onslaught.
24phso6.jpg
At the head of the reinforcements, a massive black and red dragon soars with such elegance and grace. A majestic blue fire spews from his mouth as it engulfs the air in front of him. Charging through the flame, his body protected by the scales, the mighty dragon closes in on the city with a horde of his own right behind him. As the black and red dragon lands upon the inside walls of Morgana, crushing some shadowy fiends during his landing, the remaining troops either jump off or keep flight and prepare for battle.

From the Sorcerer's darkness, an army of shadowy gargoyles and winged creatures take flight to handle the air reinforcements. Armed with claws and spears and the power of the Underworld fueling them, they would charge into battle without hesitance. Though it would stretch thin the ranks of the invading forces, they operated smoothly as if rehearsed. There was no doubt for those who had been defending the city from the start, that the foe before them all was most formidable.

As the black and red dragon landed upon the ground, the massive creature would begin to shift and morph. Its limbs would recoil and retract, wings would bend and shrink, and a complete metamorphosis would begin to occur as steam would radiate off the creature's form. The steam in the air would cloud anyone's vision, masking the creature that was starting to shrink and the dragon-kin warriors that had landed beside him would also be concealed. Seconds would pass until the troops began to walk from the steamed air, emerging, and at the head of it all walked a man clad in royal-looking armor.

Ayden, the black and red dragoon, the very dragon that landed in the city, had turned into a man. Short brown hair upon his head allowed his fiery blue eyes to pierce the dimming daylight with ease. A passion had been sparked and it was all too obvious that his intentions were set on blood and battle. Silver armor, laced in gold trim, covered his shoulders and torso. His arms remained protected at the elbows and knees, accompanied by gauntlets and boots. Upon his back rested a full length red cape that almost touched the ground, hiding a round shield on his back. The red came itself was trimmed in a gold lining much like the rest of his armor. An old symbol, though small, was etched into the cape reminding him of his past.

The over sized sword attached to his hip, the sword of bahamut would drag against the ground as he pushed forth into the city of Morgana. As minions of the darkness approach him, many of his own comrades peel off and begin to fend against the threat. It was obvious upon first glance that the city had been evacuated, and though Ayden didn't know the exact whereabouts of the procedures, he was simply glad that it gave him enough room to act freely and accordingly.

With the city being destroyed and crushed, Ayden's only goal was to kill the one truly responsible for this. He had a debt to settle with Xildax, a debt that he intended to repay in full plus interest. The Sorcerer, the man who destroyed his home, killed his wife in his hands, killed his friends, and exiled him was here in this city. The adrenaline coursed through his veins as they bulged ever so slightly off the skin. His heart raced with excitement at the thought of his enemy being crushed by his own two hands. When it came down to it, he knew that he would have to kill Xildax before Xildax got his hands upon the Knight of Diligence... or else it would be too late for everyone.

He had told her, no, begged her to stay behind. Considering her current condition, Malaysia was pretty far along in her pregnancy. The twins were growing strong inside of her, and her belly had swelled to make room for their soon to be arrivals. Yet as she watched her husband fly off to war without her, she longed to be beside him. The very thought that he could be severely injured plagued her, and to think that he could perish just caused her heart the ache. It was true, she was in no position to fight or defend with a sword in her hand, but that did not mean that she couldn’t defend him in other ways. She could stay out of the action, at least from the ground. Since the war was coming, she had come into contact with MorceLa’Kai and for the time being he had decided to hand over the reins to Cody.

Cody originally was a white dragon, derived from the Darkbane and claiming their mother Kalicity as his rider and he was steadfast all the way through to the day he died defending her. Kalicity had been disheartened by the loss of her beloved dragon, for his loyalty and devotion to her was beyond reproach. Yet once she had found Colvin; the Chaotic Deity had called upon his powers and not only resurrected the Dragon in the name of his beloved, but also did some revamping to him as well. Reborn as a Black dragon and being tainted with the Chaotic realm, he had a few bells and whistles that came along with his new appearance, including being much larger, stronger and more powerful.
Cody_zps4b502bf2.jpg
His abilities included shadow weaving and being able to manipulate time, along with leath saliva. The toxicity of the saliva is overbearing, and the amount of deadly flesh eating bacteria present within it would dismember anybody it comes into contact with it. His armor too, was designed specifically for battle and fitted especially for him. Kalicity was overjoyed with her new and improved friend. However when she passed, MorceLa’Kai had inherited Cody's loyalty and now he has handed Cody over to Malaysia, as he felt she could use him more.

While he was not accustomed to the heat of the Red Sands, he adapted well for the sake of his family. It was now that his importance had become immediate, and as his mistress stepped out into the field, dressed in what armor she could fit in and with a bow and arrow hoisted over her shoulder, she looked up at the glorious beast. Despite his brute size, he was beautiful to behold. He was also gentle to those he cared for, and Malaysia was no exception to that. His large head lowered calmly to her so that she could rest her hand upon the thick scales of his muzzle, and she looked calmly into his sun kissed hues.

“We must be extra careful today. Your brother and sister will be here soon, and we must keep them safe at all cost.” She then leaned into his muzzle more, softly kissing the rough hide. “I trust you, Cody.” He seemed to growl in approval of her words, and with one quick sweep of her wings she lifted herself up and landed on his back. Sitting down and finding her balance, she gave him a pat. “Let’s go.” She wasn’t about to leave Ayden to fend for their family all by himself. He would no doubt be angry with her, but he just had to understand her position; she just loved him too much to let him do it on his own.

Cody launched himself into the air and Malaysia leaned forward a bit in order to hold in, surprisingly with each thrust he took immediate care not to lose her. He understood every word that came out of her mouth. He knew what they had to do, and it was going to be done.

Protect them. Protect all of them.

As Ayden pushed forth, it wouldn't take him long to realize that both forces were taking strong hold positions within the city. Xildax and his minions of darkness were flooding in from the southwest corner of the city, while guards and other knights were holding their ground near the center. He had no doubt that Leo and many others were taking up their defenses within the sanctuary of the castle, defending it from Xildax and his forces. Perhaps this was also the location where the people of the city retreated to? Though Ayden didn't know the local features of Morgana, it would seem that Xildax had taken over the community prison and was operating out of the sanctuary of the walls.

The demonic Sorcerer would laugh as he takes note of the reinforcements coming by air. He would dispatch his own variety of winged creatures to handle the opposition, to make sure it wouldn't slow down his hostile take over. His towering presence marked with that of a ghastly staff, dressed in silvers and blacks would shift as his mesmerizing green eyes landed upon the female at his side. "You have done well my child, once we capture the Angel our plan will be near complete." The Hell Knight, dressed in blacks and reds, also known as Hyza stood prepared for battle. It was thanks to her that Xildax had made it this far in the first place, and it was because of him that she had called out and toiled with the hearts and minds of several others that were involved in this situation. Because of her, Leo had known that this would happen. And because of her, Ayden had awoken his nemesis to the world of Valucre.

As the small militia of dragon-kin stretched out to fight, Ayden would take charge and use his own abilities to push onward into the darkness. With sword in hand, he would slash and clash against several shadowy fiends that were sent flying through the air or sliced into two. It was as if he had been waiting his entire life for this moment and he wouldn't allow the small fries get in his way or stop him now.

Dashing through the city streets, Ayden would turn the corner before stopping. He could feel something different closing in from the far side of the city, from the same direction he had just come from not too long ago. Just over the walls and in the distance, he could see another magnificent dragon coming to their aid. Unfortunately, his heart and stomach would sink as Ayden was quick to realize that it was one of Malaysia's own, which meant that she would undoubtedly be with him. While there was a flurry of emotions filling him from the inside, he would chose to ignore her for now. If she was just getting here, she would be safe at her location. Ayden would have to find Xildax and finish him before anything bad could happen.

Turning down the next road, he could finally see it. The Community Prison gates. Though it was covered in darkness from all the deadly creatures that Xildax kept at his side, Ayden would watch very carefully as if trying to find an opening. Xildax had to be inside and Ayden hoped that there would be a safe way in. Within seconds of watching, Ayden's eyes would fall upon a Knightly looking figure approach the prison. At first glance, a light would radiate from his body and Ayden knew that it was none other than the very Paladin that rescued him from his slumber in the Red Sands long ago. Though Ayden couldn't make out the exact words that the white haired man was shouting, it seemed that it had sparked some attention.

The gates of the prison had opened and from it emerged Hyza. Though Dravish, the Paladin, had demanded to fight the Sorcerer himself, it seemed that Hyza would be his foe. Knowing that Xildax would be without his pawn, Ayden would trust the fight to fall upon the two and bypass them both in an attempt to fight the Sorcerer head on. He hoped that his plan would work as he rushed inwards with the ever consuming darkness closing in around him.

They soared through the air at great speeds, and Cody made the ride rather enjoyable. It had been a long time since she had ridden upon the back of another dragon aside from Ayden, but it was nice to know that she had the former Darkbane on her side. He was relentless as he was kind, and deep down the Black Dragon knew the importance of this mission. He had to keep those unborn children safe, as well as their mother. Yet the peaceful ride was coming to an end, and as they began to approach the borders of Morgana, Malaysia’s gaze captured the action that was happening down below. Even from a distance, she could feel the uneasiness settling in the pit of Ayden’s stomach. He had spotted her.

It was then that she felt doubt; not for him, but for herself. Was she being selfish to come all this way? To not stay at home and just take care of their children, and let her future husband take all the risks? She knew that he felt that it was his job to take care of this family, and in a way it was. But they were partners; they were together in this, and she was not about to let him fight this battle on his own. Yet as these thoughts ran through her mind, she was about to consider turning around.. that was until Cody let out a obnoxiously loud roar. It echoed through the skies, and as she tore her vision away from the crowd that was massing in the distance, she noticed that there a many variety of creatures started to head their way.

Her eyes narrowed, apparently she had her own things to focus on. Leaning forward and tucking her wings close into her, through clenched teeth she spoke to Cody. “Kill them, Cody. Kill them all. Leave none alive.” They had only a few minutes to spare, and her mind began to calculate what she had to do. She had fed before she left, and lately she has been feeding every two hours in order to sustain their unborn children’s hunger. She would have to dine again soon, and she figured there would be enough flesh to go around during this escapade so there was no need to go hunt.

“Not that type of hunting anyway,” she whispered to herself. Slowly rising to a stand at the back of the Dragon, she kept her knee’s bent in order to adjust to any direction change. Rolling down her bow into her left hand, she then reached back and took one of the arrows. Having known that there wouldn’t be just shadow creatures to fight, during the last few months in preparation for this battle she had special bows made; Ones made of iron and steel, so that if she needed to she would be able to pierce dragon scales. Placing the arrow on the string, she held onto it firmly.

Their enemies were upon them, and Cody dipped before clashing full force with the shadow creatures and in doing so, he released fire from his maw lighting each of them up. They screamed in pain as they toppled to the earth.  Behind those creatures, there were three dragons and two gargoyles. Cody was much larger than those dragons though, and he snarled and flashed his enormous fangs. Literally charging them through the air, while Cody took care of the dragons Malaysia kept her eyes on the Gargoyles. She was protecting the future of her children from this hoard, and she had to keep her wits about her. Having drew back the arrow, she seemed to hold her balance extremely well despite Ayden maneuvering and catching the smaller dragons in his mouth and shredding them to pieces; he plucked them out of the air like flies.

Yet as she kept one Gargoyle in sight, the other came around from behind. Her eyes narrowed upon the one she targeted, she aimed it directly at his abdomen. He tried to move, and while it missed its mark it didn’t miss him. Piercing the wing, the Gargoyle and squealed and attempted to stay in flight, but alas Cody had made short work with him with a swipe of his massive claws. Hearing the boots land on the back of Malaysia, she whipped around the see the other gargoyle. He charged her, trying to grab her but to no avail. Whipping off to the side, tucking the bow over her shoulder, Shadowspire quickly formed in her left hand. Stepping forward, she tripped him with one edge of the staff. Falling to the back of Cody, he growled and aimed to find his feet. But Malaysia was too quick, and was already on him like a bloodhound to a scent. With the dagger like ends, she stabbed him in the neck and threw him off the side of Cody.

She looked up, there were more coming. Apparently they were not done.

As Ayden entered into the Community Prison, a dome of darkness would sweep over him. The walls scattered with shadowy fiends that held no distinctive shape or forms. Only green, poisonous looking eyes could be seen as they peered at him from a distance. Sharp claws had stretched from the walls as if tempting to slice and dice anything that got close enough. Yet Ayden hadn't fallen within their reach, and now he stood almost center stage within the courtyard of the prison.

The shadows had taken to the fence walls, blocking any path in or out. Even the direction he had just come from would now be blocked. The sky overhead would be blackened as the creatures formed a makeshift barrier of bodies and forms, insuring that none could just drop on in without an invitation. The only thing that truly felt solid was the ground beneath him as he would come to a halt.

"Show yourself Sorcerer, we have a score to settle you and I."

Ayden's sword would ignite with fire at his hip as it swirled around his body like a blue vortex. The blue flames would light up the room, revealing anything that might be hidden while repelling anything that felt froggy enough to leap at him. From the shadows, the Sorcerer would reveal himself as the black tendrils would wrap and unravel his body, revealing his own set of armor and staff. A demonic laugh of orchestral design would reverberate against the air, producing a low and layered voice that mocked Ayden's challenge.

"You couldn't stop me last time Dragon King, but this time I will be sure to destroy you and this city as I once did all those years ago."

Xildax would shift his staff to cross his torso. The decoration on top of the staff, appearing to be some type of demonic skull, would produce a ghastly green hue from the empty eye sockets. The hue would concentrate for all but a mere second before the two sockets would erupt with quick energy that blasted outward, creating one stream of demonic essence that threatened to crash upon Ayden. Yet as the force came crashing forth with intense speed, Ayden would stand firm. Xildax's power would clash against the fiery wall that Ayden's sword had produced.

"Bahamut, don't fail me. Help me strike my foe."

The blue flames would mix with the green essence and the wall would turn into a sea-blue aura that whistled around Ayden's body. For only a second Ayden would hold his position before using his sword Bahamut to deflect the energy and begin his own charge. The deflection would send the energy crashing into the wall, smashing against many of Xildax's shadowy friends that watched. With his royal armor covering his body, Ayden would push against the earth as hard as he could to propel himself towards Xildax. Despite the history that the two shared, and the repetitive failed attempts to kill him, Ayden would not hesitate to end this.

From Malaysia's position, she would see down below that there were three city guards being outnumbered and pressured. They were being completely surrounded by darkness and needed help. Though they were fending off for themselves, they seem to have been separated by the main group at the Castle. Regardless of how good they were at fighting or working together, without any extra help there would be no way they could make it to the Castle alive.

Despite Ayden being inside the barrier, the connection between them was still strong. She could feel his strength and his struggle, and it caused her heart to ache. Crystalline hues latched onto the shadowy mass that was blotching up the sky, but at the same time the legions of dragon’s that Ayden had brought were also going to work on them. It was a magnificent scene, one that Malaysia had never had the pleasure of actually watching in person. As she stood upon the back of Cody, her attention was drawn to the three guards that seemed to be heavily outnumbered on the ground. She had to make a decision, and fast.

“Cody, keep an eye out.” And leapt from his back. Her large wings stretched out wide behind her as she left her beloved Dragon to join his kin in their battle. The wind caught her as she descended to the sandy valley below to help the three gaurds. It didn’t take long, when her boots hit the ground she did a tuck and roll. With Shadowspire still in her hand, she began to maneuver around the shadow creatures, inevitably dancing with the darkness. Yet something happened that she did not expect, another much larger shadow came down upon them. It was Cody.

“Watch out!” She screamed to the other three guards, as she tried to shove them out of the way to safety. Cody unleashed a trail of flames starting directly behind her, erupting the shadowy creatures in flames. They scattered and squealed, quickly turning to ash.

“What was that?!” One of the guards scream, and Malaysia quickly turned to him and replied, “Help. Now get up!” Leaping back to her feet, there was still more shadow creatures coming but Cody had took care of the majority of them. She was grateful for that Dragon, despite her telling him to go help the other’s he stuck to why he was here. His loyalty was beyond reproach, and he did not care much for the other’s.. only Malaysia, only her children and the Dragon King. That was his family. They were his reason for going into this battle.

Together the four of them began to fight off the remainder of the hoard. She rolled off the balls of her feet; swinging, jabbing and stabbing them one by one. During this time, she was also building up power within her. She was not one for magic, but she had little time to waste and had to save her energy where she could. She was preparing to lay waste to these creatures, it would at least bide her a little time.

The guards were obviously relieved of the help that had come their way. She was truly an Angel at that moment, sent from the heavenly sky to to save them. She swept them away from a cruel fate to guide them on a journey to help others. Even if it would be for a bit longer, they knew that they had to keep pushing, they had to keep fighting. "We have to make it back to Castle Heights."

The one guard explained as he swung his sword at a leaping foe. Though the guard didn't have enough strength to cleave it into two, the creatures body would spring off of it like a board as the guard continued to follow through with the swing. It was obvious that they were tired, slowing down and exhausted from the fighting. There was no telling, from Malaysia's point of view, how long they had actually been fighting.

"We've evacuated the civilians into the underground tunnels below Castle Heights. We must defend it."

Luckily for them, they weren't too far away from the Castle. Its beautiful structure half in the ground, half erupted from the earth still gleamed as the remaining sunlight from day had come to vanish. One of the guards would watch Malaysia closely as she skillfully danced with her weapon. It was inspiring, and yet the fleeting thought would be robbed from him as a shadowy creature would begin to materialize right behind Malaysia. A sharp black spear tip had come racing towards the woman's back, and the guard leaps into action without hesitation or a second thought. A shield would bash downward upon the attack, deflecting it successfully from striking Malaysia in the back. However, as the one attack was discarded to the side, it would be replaced with a violent volley of three, four, five more quick successive jabs from the similar weapon.

The tips would puncture his armor, piercing his skin and cut through bone. His leg, arms, chest, stomach would all be wounded as his body stumbled back into Malaysia before crumbling over. Another guard screamed in anger, destroying the shadowy fiend with his own sword. Unfortunately, as the guard's lifeless corps lay on the ground, he knew that this was a battle of life and death and chose to repay Malaysia the favor. She had helped them just moments ago, now he would gladly die knowing he sacrificed himself for this woman, hoping that she would return his comrades back to the Castle safely.

Inside the barrier, Ayden's sword would come crashing down upon the thick of Xildax's staff. Upon impact, blue flames erupted from both edges of the sword as fire swirled around Xildax. Of course the Sorcerer hardly panicked or did much besides defend himself from the sword. Even as the blue flames scorch his body, he simply stands there as Ayden steps away. It appeared that Ayden had trapped him within the fiery blue wall. Watching closely, some of the clothing on Xildax would burn away. Though for a brief second Ayden thought he may have captured him, it seemed too easy.

As the thought entered his mind, Xildax would tap the pointed end of his staff against the ground. The blue flames would dissipate and nearly vanish all together as if being choked out or smothered.  Some of the pieces that held Xildax's armor into place had been melted, and pieces of armor would begin to drop off the Sorcerer's body. An arm sleeve of armor had been discarded, tossed aside with a shoulder piece. Xildax's free hand went to reach for his helmet, flesh searing onto the metal - and despite the obvious pain it would have caused, it seemed as if it did little to persuade the evil creature from removing it completely.

"If that is the extent of your strength Dragon King, then I shall end this quickly. I don't have time to fool around with you when I have so much darkness descending on this city. I will crush the remaining struggle with a single blow."

“We have to make it back to Castle Heights.”

She heard him, and as she continued to maneuver between their assailants and Shadowspire breaking and shattering them with each heavy blow, it was to her surprise that one of the knight’s jumped into harms way in order to save her. Spinning on the edge of her heels, she watched in terror and agony as the man fell to the floor. Yet she didn’t have time to mourn for his sacrifice. Yet as she fought on, something within her awoken. The scent of the blood that was spilling from his dying body reached her, and her reaction was instinctual. Her darling children within her were already asking for more replenishment, and she couldn’t help but heed their call.

Already the psionic energies that she held back for so long were boiling over and her eyes fell into darkness. Her pupils became black as night, and suddenly a new sweep of energy engulfed her. Springing back and over the guard’s lifeless form, she fell to her knee’s and grabbed him by his hair. She could still hear his heart beating, slowly, but it was there. Would they still think of her an angel as she literally bent his head sideways and plunged her fangs deep into his jugular? Thick, warm blood poured into her mouth as she eagerly lapped up the bitter-sweet elixir. During these few seconds, she was completely relying on the other two guards as well as Cody to fight back their enemy.

She could feel them closing in around them, and she could detect the struggle.. but that struggle was about to be over. About ten seconds passed, and it seemed it was ten seconds too long, and she threw down the guard with a brute force before standing to her feet. Crimson ribbons formed on the corners of her mouth as they rolled down her porcelain skin. Over the last few months, she had been practicing gaining full extensile control of her power; specifically psychokinesis, where she would be able to harness the life force and sonic energy of the earth. She had been manifesting this energy for quite some time, waiting for the perfect moment to unleash it. Already it seemed to be working, as the shadow creatures seemed to be slowing in their progression in reaching them.

Pursing her lips together, with her staff in her hand she picked it up about a foot off the ground and then she slammed Shadowspire into the dirt. She had to feel the pressure painful tingling snapping through her arm, and then an invisible wave emitted from her form. It was an explosion, one created of unstable ectoplasmic energy that would create severe damage to any foe within a fifty meter radius. She watched as the darkness obliviated under her spell, and any of the creatures that were attacking them evaporated into ash and soot. If it weren’t for the guard’s sacrifice, she would have been down on her knee’s trying to regain her strength. Yet there she stood with Shadowspire in her hand, looking back at the other two gaurds; she had not forgotten about Castle Heights. Yet now she was torn between helping the civilians and assisting her love.

“Cody!” She screamed at her Dragon who was still flying through the sky and having his fun, and then she turned to the other two gaurds. “Cody will help you with securing Castle Heights. I am sorry, but Ayden is inside the Prison by himself.. I need to help him.” The guards looked at her almost in disbelief at what just happened, then they gazed to the sky at the large black dragon. Time was of the essence however and they couldn't exactly so no.

“Be careful, my Lords.- Cody, take care of that!” She only hoped that the Dragon would actually obey her command as she pointed towards the Castle. She then bowed her head towards the guards and turned towards the prison. It was a good distance away, and it seemed that Xildax had his bases covered. He had disabled her ability to use the shadows as transportation here, so she had to go on foot.

Cody changed his direction; despite them being so far away he could hear Malaysia as if she was still on his back. He was hesitant, but knew full well that if she needed him for anything that he would abandon the Castle's defenses and come to where ever she was. For now, he will aide the Knights in securing the castle.

Though the guards were hesitant in understanding the woman's actions, they wouldn't argue when their own safety was on the line. It seemed that she was here to help, but after witnessing her dig her own teeth into the flesh of their fellow guard, they both seemed unsure if she was truly a friend or foe. With the aid of a mighty dragon on their side, they hoped to tip the scales of this battle in their favor. Both of them knew that the reinforcements were at the Castle, holding down the city from a single strong hold. Letting the vampire to deal with her own issues, taking note of her words, they would hurry off without a second thought leaving her with nothing more than two cautionary words.

"Be safe!"

As if that weren't obvious. Once her abilities cleared the immediate area, she would feel the black of darkness slowly creeping back in. Her interference was enough to catch the attention of the surrounding darkness that acted as one massive amoeba. Though she wouldn't be able to see it immediately, a loud battle cry could be heard off in the distance. While Malaysia pursued the path easiest to the prison, the battle hungry creature pursued from the east. Only when Malaysia managed to make it half way there, she would hear a second cry come forth as the Shadow Stalker showed itself.

Several claws slashed outward in clear warning to any foe daring to get close enough. Nearly ten feet tall and five feet long, roughly 250lbs, the Shadow Stalker pressed forth with ease. All of its beady eyes locked onto Malaysia as it rushed forth at her from the edge of the shadows. As it closed in with a disturbing swiftness, two of its razor sharp claws would come crashing downward upon Malaysia. She would have to fight off the creature to get into the prison, and even then there was no guarantee that she would make it in time to help her beloved.
be67b6.png
Xildax's words were only done to taunt Ayden. While it had worked in the past, the Dragon King had grown significantly in skill and maturity. While both of his fiery blue hues danced within the darkness of the prison, Xildax would make a swift horizontal slash with his staff. Though Ayden was clearly out of range, the weapon would run parallel with the ground causing a magical reaction to occur. Black tendrils would erupt with quick prejudice, the tips of which were pointed like that of an arrow to pierce armor and shatter bone. The countless whip like projectiles would come swiftly as Ayden pushed forth once more.

The Dragon King would fend off the first two with his own mighty sword, scorch the third with his flames, dodge the next two and side step at the final moment before clashing within range of Xildax. Though Ayden felt confident that his next attack would hit, as he pulled his arm back to push it forth with the sword - to ram the sword through Xildax himself, the black tendrils had caught his wrist and ankle.

All of his momentum would be instantly halted as his body jerked backwards. The shift in his balance so unexpectedly had left him open for attack, which was taken advantage of as one of the projectiles circled back to blast right through Ayden's left shoulder. It would rip right through the armor, pierce the skin as it exited the front side. The forward momentum would knock Ayden onto his left knee.

The pain racked his body nearly instantly, and out of response his own aura would turn into a frenzy. Majestic blue fire erupted from his core and blade as it circled him. The shadowy tendrils that had a hold of him would be singed, releasing him from their grasp. Even the wound that could have caused him to bleed out would be burned to prevent further blood loss. A dragon-like scale would form over the wound as the Dragon King took this opportunity, of what appeared to be weakness to lunge forth at Xildax. His blade would stretch outward, and as the unexpected Xildax went to fend it -deflecting the blade only slightly, the sword would slice the Sorcerer's side. In junction with the sword's fire, it would burn Xildax even more as it scorched him at such a close distance.

She ran as fast as her feet would carry her and despite the distant roar echoing off into the distance, she couldn’t stop now! But apparently the enemy had other plans, and out of the corner of her eye she saw something formulating from the darkness. Deep blue hues quickly turned in the general direction and what she saw, was something extremely huge and massive. Her first instinct said to call for Cody, to let him take care of it for her, but she knew that would be wrong. She knew that the knights were relying on him to help them secure the castle; so it looked like the Angelic Goddess would have to handle this creature on her own.

The thing was huge, and ugly. Surely something her mother or little brother would have conjured up to ride around in their darkest nightmares. His claws buried into the ground, carrying it closer to her and her mind started to cross reference everything that she knew. With Shadowspire in her right hand, she took a deep breath and watched it carefully. It began to lash out, its claws coming straight for her and in response she launched forward in a dead run leaving the claws to hit nothing but dirt. Starting to rotate to catch her, it was not fast enough as she was already underneath it. In one round sweep, she utilized the extension of Shadowspire like a wire and with the jagged ends she sliced the inside of its legs.

The Shadow stalker reared back, roaring its dismay and with all its might, claws swinging rapidly against the air as he set back. Malaysia was not anticipating that, and she barely dove out of the way as the massive figure came crashing down. She was feeling rather exhausted as she watching him struggle to stand, and she knew it wasn’t over.

The sheer reaction of instinct taking over had left Ayden in a frenzy. As distance was gained, his aura would burn bright as he stood to his full height. A new air of confidence circled him as his body would begin to undergo a metamorphosis of sort. The fire from his aura would burn and singe the pieces that kept his armor strapped to his body. Slowly, piece by piece the armor would fall off of him to reveal his body.

As his chest plate would fall to the ground with a clang and thud, the dark shirt upon him being incinerated, Xildax would see this transformation as clear as day. Dark blood red scales would begin to form across his skin, to include his neck and face. Placing the sword in front of him, tip in the ground, Ayden would feel and push his body to the limit. His head would become wrapped in this armor of dragon scales, his eyes protruding ever slightly as the blue orbs pierced the darkness like the moon in a night sky.

Even as his leg pieces fell apart, boots turning into ash, more and more dragon armor would appear in its wake. His skin would turn into this hard armor, much like that of a dragon's own. From the back of his neck and shoulders, a leathery type of material would protrude like that of a cape that extended to his feet. The point of the cape, mimicking that of a dragon's wing, would be tipped and ready for combat as well.

After the seconds passed, giving Xildax the chance to recover from his wound, Ayden would be complete with this change. He was larger, taller, stronger, faster. Pulling the sword from the ground, Ayden's eyes would line the sword up to his face with an outstretched arm. His wound seemed to have been healed in the process. Both eyes would roll down the flat of his blade as the sword pointed directly at it's opponent.

"I won't allow you to do this. I will kill you this time."

His voice seemed to amplify and layer with chords upon chords. Much like that of a demon speaking through its host, the dragon within Ayden had come closer to the surface. Though his voice was still his own, the difference in sound would appear intimidating. Without warning, Ayden would take a step forward. His cape would thrash against the air as it projected his body across the floor like a surfer on a wave. His feet hardly touching the ground as he rushed in with a vicious speed. The assault would continue, but it was time to end this.

Her strength was waning, and as she watched the shadow stalker hit the ground it diminished into a puff of black smoke. At this point she was amazed at how tired she had become from this ordeal, and she realized that perhaps Ayden was right.. perhaps she should have stayed home. But it was a little late for that now, and with a hand quickly falling to her belly she found reassurance that her children were alright. She could feel one of them kicking her in the ribs; literally. Apparently they weren’t used to so much commotion and noise, but she gently cooed to them and at the sound of her voice, it seemed to ease their excitement.

Before any other creatures could conjure, she took off towards the prison. She felt them behind her, coming closer together, ready to come down on her as she ran. Before the entrance, she had noticed two bodies laying on the floor. There looked to be a male dressed in all wide, off course his clothing was tainted by the sand of the desert, and a woman with red hair. Something in the back of her mind triggered when catching a glimpse of that woman, a memory so foul that she couldn't just space it. Yet she couldn’t do anything about that witch, the shadows were closing in at an alarming rate and as she entered the threshold of the prison, they screamed and hollered and yelled. Their master would be so angry at them that they didn’t finish off the vampiric Queen, the lover and wife to their enemy, and mother to his children.

It was dark inside the prison, and she had to stop to take a look around. Tunnels turned every which way and she wasn’t sure where to go, but she took a deep breath and closed her eyes. She listened for sounds, and felt with her heart. Her instincts began to kick in and her stomach started to church, looking for her empathy to guide her. The connection between she and her husband was extremely strong, and more often than not she was able to locate him, not through any types of power or incantation, but feeling his emotion and energy. It was like a beacon.

Then she found him, and she felt is concern and his rage, his anger and frustration, his will want and desire to kill his foe once and for all. She took off, running in his general direction. She saw gleaming green hues dancing on the walls, gawking  at her as if she did not belong there. Yet her divine aura seemed to reflect them, and they simply bounced off her with ease. Rounding the corner she them saw the duo, decking it out in the middle of the courtyard. It was a sight that she was not prepared to see, and with ShadowSpire in her hand she simply stared from her post. She didn’t call out to Ayden.. not yet.. she didn’t want to distract him. But she would be here if he needed her. Xildax was not about to get away, not this time.

A scream would be released as Ayden swung his sword with all his might. Blue flames would spew off the steel of his long sword as the arena became lit up. Xildax would counter with his own staff, playing defensively as he attempted to tame the dragon's rage. Fueled with anger and raw emotion, the Dragon King would slash and maneuver before hitting again and again from a different angle. As the Sorcerer could hardly keep up, Ayden's maw would open at close range.

A swirl of fire had been burning deep, like that of a dragon itself, Ayden would blast blue flames of fire downwards onto Xildax. Heat would consume the room as the blue fire filled half the stage. Even the dark creatures from the shadows could be seen withdrawing into further recesses of the prison to avoid the Dragon King's power. Seconds would pass as fire bellowed from Ayden's maw, seemingly reducing the Sorcerer to nothing but ash.

However, Ayden and Malaysia would both see that his flames would begin to reflect and move outwards, away from Xildax as a dark purple magic provided protection. The Sorcerer was worn, hurting, and running low on energy and power. Using the barrier, Xildax would push the barrier onto Ayden, throwing the Dragon King across the room. Ayden's body would slide across the floor until his back slammed into the shadowy wall. Dark creatures held tight onto Ayden as he struggled to come to his own senses. The unexpected counter had thrown him off guard. His eyes searched the darkness, trying to regain his orientation. To his left he could see Malaysia, but what he didn't see in front of him would prove to be a mistake.

Xildax had produced a follow up attack, harnessing his power to unleash upon Ayden. Despite his pain and injuries, the Sorcerer released a wave of dark energy at Ayden. As it was thrown, released from Xildax's own body and control, pain had wracked his body, causing the attack to be thrown off every so slightly. Regardless of it being a direct hit, Xildax knew it would enough to put Ayden down for the count.

Everything seemed to happen in slow motion, and she felt both terror and hope well up inside of her as she watched everything unfold. For a moment it looked as if her beloved was winning and at one point, it seemed that he had triumphed over his enemy. However the potential victory did not last long and her stomach churned as she felt the change in tempo, and the last bit of energy that Xildax could muster sent her husband flying through the air.

Sapphire hues followed Ayden as he hit the wall and he suddenly became enslaved by the shadow creatures. She could feel his disorientation; she could see it written all over her face. Then her attention drew back to Xildax and she knew what was coming.

“Ayden!” She took off, her body felt weary and faint but she wasn’t about to let it stop her. She was not about to let this creature take away the man that she loved and the father to her children. He was the bee to her honey, they were one, and whether they were going to live or die, they were going to do it together. Even while carrying twins, she moved with incredible speed and strength.

“No!” Xildax had released the dark energy and it went soaring through the air, but not before Malaysia could reach Ayden. It was like a sonnet, reaching one another at the same time and the impact that she felt sent pain surging through her entire body. A sharp sting shot through her spine, hitting every joint in from head to toe. Her body trembled, her knees were weak and she started to look down. Her left hand found the curve on her belly and at that point she was gasping for air, her lungs ached with every passing breath while crimson tears welled up in her eyes as she began to fall. Dropping to her knees, she then looked up towards Xildax. Having absorbed the majority of the hit, at that point she felt instant regret..

The babies.. were they okay?

Forcing herself to look back over her shoulder, she saw Ayden and looked at him through a longing, scarlet tainted gaze. “Ayden.. I’m sorry.”

And then she collapsed to the ground on her left side.  Her arms holding onto her swollen stomach, as if trying to protect them from anymore harm.

Weary and tired the Sorcerer watched as the woman rushed to Ayden's side. She took the hit for him, and a wicked grin filled his foul mouth. A demonic laugh escaped his lips as he recalled this scene playing out once before in a very similar fashion. This was better than killing the Dragon King, it was beyond torture, and Xildax would become satiated in knowing that his foe would be vanquished by broken spirit and mind. Taking this opportunity, Xildax would not take any more chances. His energy was low and he still had a mission, he still needed to find the Knight of Diligence and use the Inversion. Without hesitation Xildax would be quick to flee and leave the two to their own despair while tendrils of darkness continued to threaten them.

"NoOO!!!"

Ayden's voice cried out as Malaysia fell before him. His anger and rage swelled, the remaining strength he has would be used to release his binds from the wall. Snapping the tendrils that held him in place, he pulled away from the wall and grabbed onto Malaysia. It was then that he had nothing left within him. Her words of regret and sorrow beckoned, but he was already gone. The wall built within him to keep back all the nightmares had broken free, and his body would be drowning in fear. Paralyzed, Ayden's scale like armor would retract to reveal his human body on its own.

As she rolled onto her side, tears swelled within his eyes. Instinct would take over as he rolled her back onto her back softly and gently. Once her face had come into view, it was then that he could feel it. It was happening again, all over again as it had many years ago with Alindra.
"No,no no no. Not again, please, please Malaysia." His hands would fall from her shoulders to her belly. Tears would fall onto her face as he hovered over her, he couldn't bare the thought of losing her or his two children.

All the while, darkness lingered closer and closer. It cared little about their pain, its entire purpose was to destroy, and end them here and now. As Ayden's large hands fell to Malaysia's lower stomach, he was scared. He had to know if they were okay! With his sword at his side, providing the only light remaining in the dark prison court yard as it remained lit with fire, Ayden would feel for his children. It took a few seconds, which felt like an eternity, but after he calmed himself and his breathing - ignoring his own beating heart, he could fell them both. Their heart beats were weak, perhaps as it should be for a baby, but they were alive! A moment of relief washed over him, but it didn't last long.

His watery blue eyes caste themselves onto Malaysia, as if in surprise. He wondered if she could feel it as he just did. Something was wrong, he could feel it within the children and within her body. She was getting ready to go into labor. Ayden knew that they were just about due, but he knew this had to be the result of her pain and shock that coursed through her system. The pain, no doubt, had to of been the cause of this. A new sense of fear gripped him now, he didn't know what to do other than stare at her until she was ready. His warm hands would both touch her face as he looked into her eyes, his lips would kiss her own as he gave her room to breathe.

"It will be okay..."
