Rebellious Rose (Inn)

f0fd1a820f023f7ed3ba508de521f7dd.png

Another bar type of establishment that also provides as an Inn for any weary travelers. Matching much of the towns design as a medieval establishment, the inn is yet another establishment with good food, great drink, and a lively atmosphere. There are 20 rooms in the upstairs, each fit with a bathroom with a bathtub/shower, a television, and a mini bar. There is a telephone to call for room service is needed, which is considered within the cost of room rental. The inn was previously managed by the Captain/Knight of the guard, Lawrence, but has recently been bought over by Kyle 'Angel' Sander, the last of the Pegasi. Unlike in the Tavern of Legend, the staff here work tirelessly to clean up the messes of their patrons, sometimes simple things like shattered plates, but at others entire holes in the walls or craters in the ground.

The center of excitement and pleasure is the pub, where several velvety chairs surround brown wood tables. The lighting is romantic, and meditation music is constantly played through a disk. The Rebellious Rose is a great base for adventurers to spend their nights at when out questing in the morning. The Inn has two unique features, namely a gambling den manned by a retired bounty hunter, Connor Fortesque, and a sparring room. If adventurers wish to spar, they can enter the room as they wish. The walls are enchanted with Dark Energy, causing one's soul to be extracted from their body upon entry and returned upon leaving. This allows sparring combatants to incur no injuries, except maybe to the mind. The staff are still experimenting with new ways to make soul combat safer for patrons.

Kyle "Angel" Sander - Owner @Crossbone

Spoiler

Kyle "Angel" Sander was born into a family of Pegasi in the wilds of Terranus. His mother was Human. His father was a Pegasi Shifter, able to morph between man and beast at will. The result horrified both parents. Their child was born with a pair of bat-like wings, unlike the magnificent eagle-like wings which most Pegasi had. Kyle was abandoned by his parents soon after birth, but he was taken in by a hermit living in the forest. The Hermit taught him the ways of sword art. One day, a group of wizards came and ripped trees from the ground to sell for profit. Kyle asked the hermit about Magic, but the Hermit said that magic was dangerous to dwell in, and that it would some day drive its users crazy. The Hermit realised Kyle's ancestry was famed to be able to disrupt magic, and hence trained him in the art of Anti Magic, allowing him to disrupt spells. Although Kyle did not grow up to be a soldier in the military, he owned a small business in Ashville that soon exploded into a proficient company. However, misfortune had its ways of finding Kyle. Very soon, the old Hermit was stricken with a disease. As he lay on his deathbed, the Hermit told Kyle that his soul lived and died with Predator Keep, the once homeland of the Pegasi people, before men started taking over. Kyle sold his company and built an Inn on a property he purchased in Predator's Keep to assist other heroes and adventurers in their journeys.

Appearance:
Kyle is a lanky blonde in his early 30s. He has a pair of Wings which he has mastered into making look like a cloak. His wings sway like a cloak on his back. In his scabbard, he keeps an anti-magic katana.

Edric Carter - Manager @CrimsonAurora

Spoiler

A previous gang leader from the streets of Dougton, Edric terrorized the folks that live there. When he was finally apprehended by the authorities, he went under some 5 years of rehabilitation. During this journey, he met many individuals whom had taken the road from wicked to good. He was touched by the many souls that he encountered, but the one that changed his life forever was a Terrenus Soldier that had retired from the war efforts. His Philosophy is still etched in Edric's mind up to this day. "The Wielder of the Sword will kill many innocents. But the Wielder of the Shield will kill many deserving."

Appearance:
Edric is a muscular, dark skinned man, dressed in gold plated chain mail. He always lugs a huge arcshield around on his back. People say he is paranoid, but his shield has saved him countless times. Also, he is bald :3

Rachel Azraelian - Sparring Room Supervisor @Alternative

Spoiler

A dropout from Gaian Academy, Rachel wasn't the kind of mage whom you'd expect to shoot fireballs, or perform some awesome spells. When Rachel was young, the Netherworld chose her. She had a connection to the dark arts since she was young. Able to reanimate dead creatures and manipulate dark matter to form light, or vice versa, Rachel cruised through the first few grades of Gaian Academy. However, the teachers soon unraveled her disturbing secret. The dark magic that she practiced although gave life to some things, had to take life in exchange. The school was fearful for the safety of their students, so they banished her from the Academy. Left with no alternative, Rachel set out on her own to explore the wonders of Dark Magic. Her journeys brought her through many towns in Terrenus, Genesaris, and Tellus Mater. Her deadly experiments were frowned upon by many, and the authorities of three countries set up a bounty for her apprehension. She has managed to find sanction in Predator's Keep, where Terrenus soldiers rarely came to patrol. She still tries much to avoid contact with authorities, such as Red Yusuke and Haydon the Missionary.

Appearance: Dons a purple Gaian Academy robe. She wears her spectacles all the time, and has black hair in the shape of a cute bob. Her skin is pale due to the countless times she has drained her own life to restore others. Her wand is tucked into her Robe, while her staff is carried with her when she leaves the Inn. If she is inside the Inn, she usually leaves her staff hanging above the door of the sparring room.

Connor Fortesque - Gambling Room Supervisor @Sapphire Blue

Spoiler

Once a chariot racer from the Velhatien Desert in Genesaris, Connor Fortesque was the living juxtaposition of recklessness and wisdom. He was born with mage blood flowing through his body, but nobody was ever able to figure out his gift. He wasn't able to conjure fireballs, or summon frogs, or freeze things. People thought that he was hopeless, and because of that his self esteem was greatly affected. One day, his best friend brought him to a gambling den. Connor didn't like the idea, but he went along with it. To everyone's shock, Connor won 52 card games in a row. The gangsters in the den did not feel that he was legit. They all made a silent agreement to kill him and to split his cash. On Connor's 53rd game, a gunshot rang out, and his best friend dropped dead to the ground. Connor was petrified, and in that moment, he shut his eyes in fear. All he heard was whistling and soft breezes blowing everywhere. Then, there was silence. Connor was afraid to open his eyes. When he finally did, he was shocked to find all of the men in the gambling den dead. Cards lay all over the room, some of them impaled into the men's bodies. Connor was afraid, he started to get off the chair, but as he did, the cards in the room began to rise. Connor was afraid, he ran out of the room, and onto the street, and the cards followed him. Suddenly, a car sped down the road towards Connor, but he was rooted to the ground in fear. Out of nowhere, the cards flew around his sides, and formed a wall between him and the car. The car crashed head first into the cards and the driver died on the spot. Horrified by the discovery of his strange abilities, Connor ran away from home, and became a mercenary. He later met Edric Carter the Shieldbearer, whom brought him out of his endless cycle of killing.

Appearance:
Connor wears a blue jacket everywhere he goes. He has a streak of blue in his black hair that runs across the edge of his fringe. In his jacket pocket, he keeps a deck of cards which always remain close to his person in case he ever needs to defend himself, or simply play a game of cards.

Alyssa Cooper - Bartender @Alyssa Coops

Spoiler

The Rebellious Rose's sassy bartender, Alyssa was a gunslinger from Elendaron in Tellus Mater. She fought for the Rebellion for a few years, until an archer shot an arrow into her eye, permanently blinding her in one eye. She went to Genesaris to seek asylum. There, she met a dwarf whom designed a way for her to see from two eyes again. 10 Surgeons gathered around her hospital bed during the surgery, which had a mere 13% chance of success. When Alyssa awoke, she realised that her vision came from two eyes. However, to her shock a robotic eye had been implanted into her left socket. It took her many days to get over the fear of the foreign object in her body, but she soon discovered its worth. The robotic eye was able to detect radioactive and magical signatures, as well as see through walls. Ever since, Alyssa has tried to seek employment in various parts of Terrenus, finally finding a job at the Rebellious Rose in Predator's Keep.

Appearance:
One normal Blue eye and a robotic eye in her other Socket, Alyssa has brown hair that is kept long and falls behind her shoulders. She keeps a pair of SMG's by her waist, but her sniper rifle sits in the back of the Inn in the storeroom, able to be used if the need ever arises.

Kyle had not been back for three months. It was the longest he had ever been away. Edric was unsure when or if the inn's owner would ever return, but while Kyle was away, it was his job to maintain the Rebellious Rose. Besides, he already had enough on his hands. News spread fast around here. If Edric didn't find a way to sugarcoat the rumours, he'd have a heck of a difficult time trying to clear the names of his colleagues. The Inn was quiet, but Edric expected visitors. It had its regulars, but people of interest were yet to appear. Furthermore, he was severely understaffed, as his gambling den operator was out to encourage people to visit the Inn. He sat down solemnly behind the counter. He was grateful for the peace of Predator's Keep, but every now and then he still itched for a fight. His hands were rough like sandpaper from the many years of fighting monsters he had spent in his adventuring youthhood.

A man in his early 20s wandered the corridors of Predator's Keep. He had white hair with a red streak going across it. On his waist was a dagger and a lockpick. He carried a satchel on his back. He was dressed modestly in a simple tunic with thick leather padding.

Isaiah was lost. He had no clue where he was going. He had come to Predator's Keep with the promise of great hunting opportunities and hungry customers to sell to. It turned out that navigating the Keep was more difficult than navigating the woods! As he turned round another corner, he spotted an inn. The signboard ontop read "Rebellious Rose". The delectable smell of fresh food wafted out through the window. Isaiah could hardly resist his temptation to go in.
Maybe I could ask the owner for directions.

As the door slid open, Alyssa shot up from her slouching pose. She couldn't be seen looking sloppy to patrons. She glanced at the white haired man whom had just entered the inn, and couldn't help feeling that he reminded her of a thief.

Is that a lockpick?

Her job had two requirements that the owner had set. The first was to be humble and not to talk back to customers. The second was to dress sexy to encourage them to stay a night or two. She refrained from doing the second when the owner wasn't around. Besides, its not like Edric would snitch on her. They were all one big family.

"Welcome to Rebellious Rose Inn," she repeated the lines that she'd said many countless times, "how may I help you?"

Isaiah took a long look at the girl manning the bar. He felt a tent emerge in his pants. He hurriedly sat himself down at the bar.

"I'll have a glass of ale please," Isaiah said in a flurried manner.

Isaiah was single. He was single and desperate. He would do anything for a girlfriend, which is why he has never had one. His enthusiasm seemed to scare most girls off, and he knew it.

If she doesn't like me the way I am, then she's not right for me.

Isaiah told himself that every time he spooked a girl off with his excitement. After Alyssa had fetched him his drink, he he a big show of receiving the glass with much gratitude. As he received it, his keen eyes spotted an engagement ring on her finger, and he quickly looked away in embarrassment. Had he tried to make further advances, he would surely ridicule himself!

Devin stared skeptically at the door. It looked as if it was the throat of a monster trying to swallow him.

"Are you sure this is safe Rachel? Don't you think we should throw in a few more of those... I don't know, Soda cans? Just to make sure we won't disintegrate when we go inside...?"

After many attempts, Devin had finally found a way to manage his body snatcher form. He was able to solidify if he concentrated hard enough, but it was difficult to maintain the form, so most of the time he simply walked around with his particles far apart. Today, Rachel had invited him to test out the new Sparring Room. It greatly resembled the Sparring Room from the Tavern of Legend, but lacked the warm feeling upon entry. Devin felt like this room was craving his death. But nonetheless, for Science! He stepped into the room, and yelped in panic as his soul was lifted from his body.

Rachel hopped in through the door with him, squealing with excitement as her spirit flew from her body. In her Soul form, she moved normally, but at the door, she saw her lifeless body standing still on the spot, with Devin's next to it. She turned to see Devin feeling nervous due to the unusual Dimension that they had entered. "Don't worry, theoretically, this shouldn't kill us."

Theoretically.

"Would you spar with me Devin?" Rachel mused, her staff Materializing next to her.

(OOC: 1v1 Spars to be Conducted on Separate Threads.)

People rarely came to the Inn, apart from the regulars who always called for a drink or two. The gangsters came sometimes with their parties, leaving a huge mess for him to clean up after. But who was this guy? Edric had never seen him before. He wasn't sure why he was so surprised. Edric thought he recognized every face in Predator's Keep. It had been a long time since he'd last spoke casually to anyone. Being a Manager paid well, but it sure was boring. Had the Owner been around, Edric wouldn't have dared to conduct such a breach of protocol, but if nobody found out, it wasn't wrong right?

Edric came out from the back of the Inn and sat down next to Isaiah. Alyssa gave him an almost alarmed look that seemed to say what the hell are you doing, but Edric knew fully well the consequences. He wasn't going to let anyone find out either.

"So adventurer, which part of the world do you hail from?" Edric raised his glass to Isaiah.

"Funny you chose to visit us of all people," Edric commented. "I anticipated that you'd know of the trouble we're in," Edric said grimly, "after that bounty hunter came into the tavern, the authorities of 3 countries have been after us. Predator's Keep is the only haven for us, as it's completely off the charts of the Terrenus Map."

"Care for a coffee?"

Alyssa peered over the counter past Isaiah. "Edric, Devin and Rachel should be out of the sparring room soon. Care to take your Girlfriend to give it a spin? Connor will be back soon anyways," Alyssa loved teasing Edric, because she knew that he was crazy about every female that walked into the Inn. This didn't include her of course. She and Connor were already dating.
