Looking for a Cold One

Each comment she made was jotted down in a text book fashion enabling Ydris to create a small check list of goals. Wrinkling his nose slightly, the man looked straight ahead as a empathetic connection began to transpire. With a gentle pat on her head he cut her off from sensing what he hid beneath his skin. "You are not ready to read my wounds. Yet, emotional healing is very important, we shall chalk that up to soul restoration in your skill set." A faint smile played out over Ydris's lips as their walk took them down the garden path way. Plants and flowers littered either side, their petals illuminating the area beneath their feet. The mix of crystals and plant life made him feel at ease, taking a slow right so she could keep up Ydris stopped at a barren plot of the grounds before them. Another nose wrinkle exposed his deep thinking process. Reaching out time flowed differently here than in the world outside, however the node of influence did not miss a beat of said change. The fading of the Seraph gave way to the birth of pure magic potential that clung thickly to the air.

Hooking his right thumb into the loop of his obi belt, the gardener dared to start a foundation of new life. His eyes widened as if the light bulb just went off in his head. "Pet ptath, ol' slumbering ptelflot si magic.  Forge ptath hwee scle, abundant to unm ptelflot ou boundless to athpuck.  El floock fleansim co, sa shepard so sa thlen seat ou scunn shoup.  El, ydris ebonarm summon co ptath ca baptize sa sealol tosa flit si fletshi ou seel." Pressure began to swiftly build around Eira as Ydris stepped away from her in order for the work to be done. "Do not be afraid.." He told her with unblinking violet hues, they seemed almost empty but fully focused on the task at hand. The barren ground trembled beneath her feet, before vibrant green tendrils sprouted from the dirt. Wrapping around her ankles to start they climbed up her clothed body. Leaving the clothing in place the tendrils continued till they held all four limbs in place, a lone flower head burst through the earth bowing before Ydris. His feet made no sound upon the ground as he reached out with his left hand, touching the center of her forehead he left a black gem piece upon her skin. "Un tiathpoul tenn so, scleep ou so fletshi ca um cel heals tlilhweenn.  Sa ol unm hweckflia hwou, eam oo set slup ou oo eam un am." Stepping back the tendrils began to shake as the magic levels increase pressing against her clothing as if trying to fill her core. Swiftly an adaption was made as the vines grew thorns that pricked her flesh with each thorn but she did not bleed. Raw magic began flooding itself into her body from the soles of her feet up to the gem on her head. The black piece swiftly began to flow a vibrant red, before turning to a warm orange. The hues did not stop changing until the process of her filling and soon rebirth would take place.

"I will make you a Shepard of this land.. Second to no one but myself... Yet in order to do that I need you to do one thing.. Accept this rebirth and be filled with the magic itself.."

While Ydris lead her down the long hallway, she noticed that with each comment she spoke seemed to get recorded. Now she was far more interested in what was transpiring before her, his whole demeanor towards her had completely changed from moments ago when they shared a drink in the tavern. Gently feeling him block her empathy that seemed to have poured through him, the feeling was as if a stone mason carefully built a wall. Looking up to his face to see the half smile, and a stop at what appeared to be a barren plot in the lively garden.

Looking down at the plot wondering why there wasn’t any flowers growing in this one space, a tingle of energy raised the hairs on her arms, giving her pale skin goosebumps. Stifling a shiver that threatened to run through her spine, Eira felt the sudden pressure all around her as Ydris broke away from her. With her own eyes meeting his violet hues, his words spoken in another language was all too strange to her.

“Do not be afraid.”

Those four words brought suspicious thoughts to her mind, raising her awareness that something scary yet magical was about to happen to her. Feeling the ground beneath her feet begin to tremble; much like the earthquakes she experienced around volcanoes, Eira dropped her eyes to the ground in anticipation. That gut feeling of when something was about to happen knotted inside her, a last minute warning to the vines that sprouted from the barren plot of land.

Tightening first around her ankles, the vines carefully climbed over her clothed body pinning her arms to her sides. Unable to move, her eyes widened to the flower that rose out after the vines captured their intended prey. Oddly Eira felt calm from the depths of her soul, a trust that shouldn’t have been there was for Ydris and what he was doing to her. Closing her eyes the moment he pressed the black gem into her forehead, she felt strange.

Again Ydris spoke that strange language, the vines seemingly reacting to what he was calling forth. As the magic levels increased more and more, Eira seemed to vibrate in the clutches of the vines. Unable to see the color changes of the gem that now called her forehead home, her body began to take on some changes that were not normal for her kind. Electric was the only way she could describe the way she felt at that moment, with each thorn pressing into her skin without producing pain or blood. Deep down Eira had completely accepted what was happening, she would fully give herself to Ydris and this change if that was asked of her. Some would think those thoughts should scare a person, but it was peaceful.

“I accept my rebirth.” Eira’s words were soft spoken, just a little over a whisper.

Pure was her surrender with a fearless soul and calm voice, Eira accepted his gift and her bonding with Ydris and this place. Thick lips perked up into a smile as he closed the book slowly, turning away from her suspended figure, the flower devoured her very being. Each vine released her body allowing her to be left suspended in magic in the core of the flower bud. There the magic would alter and adapt her physical abilities and magical properties boosting her affinity for life magic, there was a pairing of telepathy between Ydris and her changing figure. Yet it was almost like a video game, options were presented to her on how she could physically adapt, the gained perks in innate affinity to life magic was a given. Her choice of what ever magic variety she wished to use was limited to two more to innately work with. The rest would come with practice and lots of trial and error,

Now all he had to do was wait, opening his left hand he gestured upward palm up, the barren ground sprouted a stump for him to sit upon. The rest of this area would be hers to use as she saw fit once she was done her transformation.

"Sleep tight.. This process will take a while.." Ydris said getting up swiftly he went to find her some spare clothes.

The very flower that held her in place released its hold upon her, each vine slowly sliding from the clothing that clung to her. The large flower head devoured every inch of her, bringing her body to rest in the very bud itself. The whole event of it all was magical, leaving her body to feel as if it was being swaddled in magic. A comforting the whole process seemed to her, enhancing her own emotional healing gifts.

Cradled in the flower bud, Eira slept while her body began to accept all of the changes Ydris was giving her. The gem in the center of her forehead began to shift through different colors, as her body changed. Writing in a foreign language etched itself over her back, swirling around her arms and legs. The force of life magic took her whole, amplifying her need to heal and keep life protected. The ability to create life was given to her, allowing her to give life to the lifeless, create new life, preserve life. Other abilities became innate to her, following the dreams of which she professed to Ydris.

During the changes Eira took on Ydris awaited her patiently, something she felt now through their telepathy link now given to her. Safe, that is how she felt, as she fell into a deep slumber allowing her body to mend itself into its new form. After some hours of Eira curled in a slumbering state, the flower began to bloom while lowering itself enough to allow Eira to be placed on her feet. With the changes taking root in her soul and body, the touch of her physical form made the empty patch of dirt flourish with a rainbow of wildflowers.

A change rippled through the air as her feet touched down. He was alerted to her presence instantly, in place of where he once sat lays pile of new clothes. Her old ones were consumed in the change. Next was a small light orb that hovered just left of the pile; if she were to touch it she would receive her own moogle as well.

Ydris remained quiet within his room as he resumed reading. No doubt the young new birth would find him when she had figured out a good amount of her powers in her own land scape. Once she was dressed she’d find a small sheet of paper that detailed out different exercises to grasp her new found strength. Once that was done the paper would teleport her to him. Yet not before hand thus giving her plenty of time for both parties to adjust to changes. The shared reserve of power connected to Eden itself.

“Soon.”

Carefully her feet touched the patched earth, wildflowers sprang up all around her. White, yellow, purple, every color of daisy sprouting to life, as Eira was spilled from the center of the large flower. Not much has really changed with this northern beauty except every flaw and scar was completely gone, and her hair was much longer. Eira stood in a small field of flowers, her blue eyes blinking momentarily as she reoriented to the realm around her. Finding the pile of clothing waiting for her, she carefully dressed.

Finally she found the floating gold orb before her, gently touching it with just a finger, a moogle appeared. Joy seeped through her, as she found herself somewhat embracing the floating kitty. Touching foreheads with the moogle, she found that she could communicate telepathically with the adorable being.

Sitting amongst the flowers, she floated a free hand over the daisies. It only took a thought, if that, the flowers began to grow to sizes unnatural to their species. Tilting her head as she watched as she funneled the gift of life into them, she could feel the very network of them in her fingertips as she manipulated their growth.

While Eira experimented with her new gifts, the new moogle stayed floating just over her right shoulder watching. Digging her fingers into the earth, she knew she could also drain the very life essence from the flowers that grew all around her. Taking from them the life she gave, her thoughts changed as new flowers took their places around her. It was then Eira knew she could heal anyone or any being she touched, but of course there would be a price to pay. Laying both her hands in the earth, she felt the thriving lives of all the plants in the area. Closing her eyes, she would carefully meditate as she felt the growing network around her.

“The power to give or to take away.. It has often been said that this sort of power makes one feel like a god..” His words tumbled like the ocean waves crashing during a storm. Slowly walking down the path, Ydris watched her with a blank face and placid eyes. “As if such mortal error could ever be considered benevolent. I have known few people to obtain such standing and still keep wickedness at bay.”

The network of growing life pulsed roughly as if adrenaline was now being pumped through their very veins. Rapid growth like a wild fire began to twist and rampantly cause growth all around. Trees began springing to life beneath her very being pushing the ground apart. “Such power holds more than the ability to give and to take.. It is the pinnacle of balance. Usage must be done with reason and absolute certainty. This power does fight back of it does not agree, magic itself has its own consciousness. It manifests itself at will and we are just the conduits it fills.” Violet optics glowed within the massive rainforest that now enveloped her entire space blotting out all the light possible while beneath the canopy.

“We do not pick sides we act according to the best interests of where we are from and what will make this planet better. Never forget who you were and who you have become. They are different..” His words trailed off as the forest reversed back into the ground as if it had never been born. Ydris stood at the entrance to her space; he had erected a marble gate way for passage.

“You look well. Did you rest well?”

Pulling herself up from the place she sat having grown a forest around herself, it had easily disappeared at the whims of her new companion, Ydris. Stretching her arms up for a moment, she sucked in a deep breath before meeting him at the marble gateway that now opened into her space.

“I have rested very well, thank you.” Smiling up to him, it was easy to see the changes in her by the glow upon her skin. Eira was a new being, a great healer ready to serve the people in more ways than she had ever imagined before.

Smoothing her hands over the new white robes that hugged her body, her white blonde hair still tied back in the way of her northern ancestry. Eira was ready, she could feel it in her blood, bones, her whole body. Brought to a new form that would help her achieve her dreams, to find ways to tame the illnesses that threatened the people of Valucre.

"I feel amazing."

“Vanilla..” Ydris mumbled to himself lightly, violet hues gazed upon the woman as she admired herself in her robes. Keeping his gaze modest and above the neck he fixated on the features of her face; the addition of the gem was something he also admired. Beauty was in the eye of the beholder, age would no longer play a factor into her physical growth, only the markings of choice be they good, neutral or evil.

For example if she were to be measured on a percentage scale; Eira would be considered 100% good for her intentions during creation. Ydris on the other hand would be 50% good the other 50% would be neutrality. His choices to live a chaotically neutral life ruled such influence. A faint smirk crossed thick lips as his body swayed before turning to walk out of the gate. “I’m glad you feel so great. Rest is surely one of the best healing factors the mortal body has to offer. A timeless remedy that is often robbed by the mind itself.” A chuckle tumbled deep within his chest as he led the way. “Do not forget to name your Moogle. Everyone has a name it would saddening to not have a name. It is one thing each greatly takes pride in.” Gesturing to his very own Moogle, Robin bobbed happily up and down in the air before flying in circles around Ydris’s horns.

“What is your next order of business I have no real plans at the moment. I intend to find some artifacts soon.. First I need to do some research..”

Sleep was in fact the best way to heal the body, often something that was usually overlooked by others. Although she was indeed feeling well rested, Eira had changed significantly and knowing what she was going to do next was totally up to her. “Artifacts? What sort of Artifacts?”

She was interested by what Ydris was going to be researching, as she walked through the gate following him. “I may continue on my travels, but now that I have the ability to do what I wanted to learn. I may go to help the poor of the various nations around us..” Shrugging her shoulders, she just smiled.

There was so much more that Eira had to learn, mostly of who and what she was now. To put her new given gifts to work, and bring a new light to the lives of those who seek it.

Turning her gaze to the moogle she now called a companion, she smiled. “Luna,” the name just came out of nowhere, but it felt so right for the floating kitty creature. The sheer happiness of the moogle radiated off of it as it flew around Eira with great excitement to the naming. A soft laugh left her lips, as she reached out to caress the sweet creature.
