The Andelusian High Tea Society

Recommended Posts

ii. the establishment

When one comes to a particular street in Andelusia, the sunlit visage of The Andelusian High Tea Society stands tall, large painted mosaic windows framing the whitewood double doors at the center of the building's facade. Flower pots with lavender sit near the front doors, filling the air with their fragrant scent. A few wooden benches are also located here for weary passerby to make use of.

Upon entering the doors of the teahouse, one is greeted by the foyer of the main tea room. There are floor-to-ceiling windows to let in bright light, and flowerpots hang from sills on the windows. Various whitewood cafe tables are located around the area, where guests can enjoy a hot cup of tea, some pastries, or any other fare they desire from the menu. Sun-warmed alcoves and window seats allow guests to enjoy the view, read a good book, or enjoy a nice conversation with their loved ones. Dahlia can usually be found here greeting customers and enjoying the peaceful ambiance of her establishment, if she is not in the kitchen. Marceau stations himself here as well, doing his duties as the maître d′ of the teahouse and flirting conversing with guests.

The kitchen and brewery, despite being cramped with various items that shouldn't be in there, is where the magic of the teahouse happens. Dahlia works with her tea artisans in order to produce renowned brews and delicious pastries to serve the teahouse's extensive clientele. Various magical concoctions and herbal mixtures—created by Dahlia, with the recipes passed down the Chamelis family lineage—line the walls in clear glass bottles, ready for use whenever there is a special request for something a little bit more magical.

There are instances when the clientele wishes for a little bit more fresh air, a little bit more sunshine. The farthest door at the end of the main foyer leads to the gardens at the back of the building: small, intimate, and secluded. A few whitewood patio tables are scattered about amongst the white-and-red-and-blue blooms, carefully situated where the warm sun hits the chairs just so, and where the baristas can employ shade in case of rainy weather.

For all her extravagance and her ownership of the teahouse, Dahlia is not particularly picky about her personal space, nor is she the most tidy of people, and so her office within the establishment is usually littered with books she has acquired in her travels abroad, her antique sword collection, and random business documents, wall to floor. Due to this, she prefers to meet her clients and business associates in the main foyer unless unavoidable.

Niko's office is larger than Dahlia's primarily due to the fact that he keeps most of the business documents as well as the rest of the Chamelis family records and heirlooms. It is also more organized, a testament to Niko's straight-laced personality. There are also unusual paintings and sculptures adorning the room, as Niko has a soft spot for eccentric art. The manager of the teahouse generally spends his hours here, withdrawn and secluded but working hard for the good of the teahouse.

Emmaline's domain is colorful, disorganized, and ultimately renders it impossible to find anything once it's lost in the depths of the clutter scattered throughout the room. Kellen and Gareth enjoy visiting every so often, while Niko argues that he will "never step foot into the door until you fix this up, Emma! If you don't, I swear to every god I will have a heart attack soon—stop laughing, Marcy!"

A dark, damp, yet homey place, the storage and boiler room is where Gareth spends most of his time, making sure the teahouse's furniture and equipment are up to standards with their clientele and up to speed with the establishment's operations.

The crown jewel of the The Andelusian High Tea Society, the Sun Room is reserved for extravagant events, usually held by the nobility. For such occasions, the teahouse presents a special personalized menu of food and teas as refreshments. The room resembles a greenhouse, with warm glowing lanterns hanging from the ceiling and sculpted trees standing as decorations throughout the area.
