Sokui no Rei (Jigoku no Toshi)

Recommended Posts

A faint rumble like mild thunder in a storm cloud, a grin growing upon his face as she touched him. Her cold skin pressing against his lurid scales intimately. Certainly her way of Draconic played a part in the slip of his mask. His grin persisted as she continued to speak. It wasn't until she mentioned his successes that his grin diminished and he defaulted to the his expressionless mask. Thanks to his close proximity to the Scarlet Queen at the A.N.T. meeting, he learned of something he was always weary of happening. Queen Red was with child, and interestingly enough, her unborn spawn felt familiar. It felt the same as each and everyone of his siblings had, save for his sister on his mother's side. On his father's side however, each and every one of his brothers that could be found had been, and consequently murdered in a show of power and dominance. This was something he felt he needed to do to prove he was thee son.  While he was pained to admit to himself that he never found Xartia's first born, he had the fortune of knowing that he too hated Xartia. By the time his next child was born, he would have another brother as well.

"Perhaps."

Drink had been delivered, a pair of glasses as well. Wine. He accepted the glass with ease before listening to her toast proposal. Such a heavy toast on the brink of war, and yet he had no doubts that they would do just that no matter what. Prosper. A war, win or lose, was simply delaying the inevitable. Koji's ambitions would be realized regardless, and even with those feelings, he still had no worries about just how well they could defend their home. Just how well they could retaliate against forces of some variety. Raising his glass in kind, he tipped his head in compliance before swirling the contents of his glass. With a quick and silent sniff he finally placed the glass to his lips and proceeded to tilt the glass until it's contents had been emptied.

"nomagqe jaciv ornla hefoc ekess demak udoka poktosh."

He uttered in his native tongue as his grin returned. Handing the emptied glass back to Katiya, The Emperor moved to stand facing the hall as he felt them approaching before he could smell them, smelled them before he could hear them, and heard them before he could see them. As his first born came bounding down the hall in all her adorable glee, Koji came to squat, an arm extending as he left Akui to the other. Finally, he had been disturbed enough to start waking up. Perhaps he too felt his sister approaching. When she drew near enough, Koji's warm grin with fanged teeth and eyes alike welcomed Kaori, his extended arm ushering her into his torso before embracing her. As he came to stand once more, he lifted her, holding her closer only to kiss her upon her forehead before pressing his head gingerly against hers. A brief moment later, Celine reached them.

"I'm surprised to see you two made it out before Noi. Kenshinobu for that matter."

In about the same moment that 'She' was revealed to Kati, if she hadn't caught on sooner, Koji could sense that Kenshinobu was already present outside. That should have come to no surprise. The Heika could only hope that he wasn't up to old habits again, investigating the safety and well-being of the the Emperor and his nations. While it was part of his job as General of the Imperial Army, today was a day for celebration. Just as much as the Emperor expected him to perform his job well, he expected him to enjoy the home he worked so diligently to protect. Likewise, it seemed that Gwen was hiding within the crowds as well.

"Have the entertainment on standby."

He ordered in a tone of voice he never afforded his women, though he also failed to mention any names or titles as well. His gaze refusing to divert to one of the servants as well. However, they still knew exactly whom he was speaking to. Without hesitation, two of them went to notify the entertainment for the evening that they would begin very soon. After long last he found the proper excuse to share the bulk of his discoveries with his booming nation.

Time had elapsed at a pace that Noi was not yet ready for, her body quaked as she finished her time in the bathroom... again.  Her irritation was much more noticeable now to this in attendance to her needs at this moment. Adjusting her posture the woman did not like the whole need for being super dressed up, at most, she would not make it through the festivities of the night. Perhaps her only able body direction was dinner time, but to not show her face before the Lord and Celine was her greatest distaste. Biting her lower lip she nodded to the attendants to finish their touching up of her makeup and tea mixture to sooth the shifting of her stomach. At first, she was handed her original black outfit but this time she turned it down pointing to one she had put together herself. Allowing the assistants to strip her of her nightgown she was swiftly wrapped in her kimono of choice. Once the royal purple outfit was placed upon her bronzed flesh Noi allowed her aura to grip her nerves and body, she would do her best to make it through the night.

When the time had come for their appearance with Koji, Noi had indeed been one of the last to arrive behind Celine but perhaps that was for the best. The festival would be one of revelation she knew that much, the people could not hold their calm for long thinking about the aspect of who might sit beside Koji soon enough. If she knew him as well as she thought she did, Noi's guess about the events of the tonight would be right on target. Perhaps she might be able to slip away back to her room in the process of the festival at hand. The sweet lotions and scent that clung to the hairpin she had obtained from her mother as a child clung to her like a radiant afterglow. Her snow white hair had been pinned into a bun upon the back of her head lightly. White optics gazed out over the gathered assembly of Lord Koji himself and the other concubines at hand, not to mention the little one who had obtained her blessing as well. A faint smile crossed ever thick lips as Noi bowed her head lightly toward Koji and slipped herself lightly into Celine's shadow and side. She did so with making her presence very clear to the woman before approaching just off to her right-hand side. "Sorry I am late..." She said in a light tone of voice holding off the queasy sensation that dared sneak past her energy restraints.

War, something she hadn't founded needed in the past.

It wasn't until after the first invasion. Something had awoken inside of her, a primal instinct that had been locked away. Most of her life she had denied herself relief and freedom of self to quell her unwanted demon. Being a vampire was forced upon her, she was simply pulled into a life she wasn't given the choice to attend. Then she was criticized for being the creature she was, for drinking blood or even looking the way she did. In her own attempt she assumed it was only right that she created boundaries for other people's comfort and peace of mind. It wasn't until after the first invasion that she had been sitting in a pool of blood, laughing. A rush of adrenaline over took her body and mind. Feeling their bones crush under her inhuman strength. Warm liquid from their bodies leaving them and pouring all over the ground in a disturbing murder. When she saw him happy once again, when she saw the empire begin to build itself into the temple she stood in now, that is when she knew war was necessary. Just as can seem like destruction to those in its path, it also gave life to things that may otherwise be dead already.

Katiya watched his face fall flat at her toast, perhaps his mind was not as hopeful as she had thought. Only after did he make a comment, to which she returned under her breath, "Nomagqe lae vi snack."

The blonde simply nodded her head and the servant feverishly took their cups and left them to watch those entering the hall. The first person to appear was none other than his first born to Celine. Katiya stood to the side and watched as Koji scooped her in his arms, keeping both children close. Celine soon followed, Katiya held no emotions on her face, little did she move her head at the woman in greeting.

There seemed to be a familiar presence outside, one she had the pleasure of knowing more intimately than most. It peaked her interest but she didn't feel the need to say anything. In time she would be sure to greet Gwen.

Noi distracted her next, her fullness seemed to make her look rather irritated. Perhaps she was reading too much in to it, being pregnant wasn't something she had experienced, but most didn't seem thrilled. Both her and Celine made it clear they might not want any attention from her, so she did the same as she did for Celine. Even without the gesture returned. Maybe as things went on she would find some common ground with her sisters.

Maybe it would break her. She wasn't entirely sure what she she was in for. One thing was for sure, she would not be idle and quiet. If she could not bare children, then she would be as a general would, assisting with tactics and furthering Koji's ambitions. What kind of leader she would be was entirely drawn upon her surroundings. Katiya had a strong will to adapt to situations she wasn't used to.

Koji had ordered the entertainment promptly begin, Katiya simply watched what was to unfold next.

The Cobran Wolves attending Kenshinobu’s forefront watched intently with orbs of vigilance, inspecting each individual they came across. Standing on four limbs at three feet tall and with a body mass of a hundred fifty pounds, these carnivores were built to invoke more than just anxiety and fright into others. As Dire Wolves they sensed the fear from others well, deceit, and though the Blind Hanyo might not caught every thing within his limited field of vision, let’s just say these Canis Lupis were the experts in eating first and asking questions last. Perfect Keepers and Kenshi’s reliance of them was long established.

The streets bustled in liveliness from all corners, even alleyways that forked into their own had packed attractions and activities pumping in Celebration, servicing the Emperor, his Empire, and the good Faith from the People. While the Night was young many indulged in festive drinking early. Almost every corner bore signs and stands with Sakes, Sojus and Baijius beverages. One could hear the gurgled slurs from the drunken and intoxicated as they bobbed and weaved through the absorbing crowd. Every sound, every layer of conversation, even the faintest change of heartbeat or strains in them, these were only physical but everything went accounted for. Voices bounced from every possible angle - these sound waves not only perceived signals to his ears, but they also painted fine details with the information transmitted. These reflected sounds guided Kenshi freely through Jigoku, the numerous hundreds of scent glands in his nose was another to aid; he’d smell the spices from foods halfway down a mile if he concentrated enough, but the most effective feature had been his Spirituality as an Ookami Hanyo. His ability to distinguish such energies perceived amongst, beneath, even between Yin and Yang. The astute Ookami proceeded calculatively, his newly given sword fastened to his pearl obi. While Kazuato seemed to emanate in nigh translucent flames encompass the entire scabbard, his fingers rested lightly just above the head or Kashira. The former Swordslayer could feel lowly growls vibrating the tsuka almost provoking it’s Bearer, communicating to him, longing to be unsheathed, crying to spill blood. It was true he had yet to draw any blood on it, because of this it oh-so-ever called to him in the vicinity of possible threats or danger. The ivory scabbard secured his right hip. This was a time for War preparation and even a greater moment for the dutiful hundreds of warriors he now had in his leadership under the Rising Sun. He would seem to have miscalculated a step, which was odd considering his guide of Wolves, but in his passing he crossed a woman in strange, radiating energy - Kazuato responded to her unknown origins flaring in a translucent flame doubled the original size. When they would accidentally bump one another, the Wolves had stopped to flash a glimpse of their serrated maws at the woman. From within the confines of his haori fell his favorite red Fuji apple, rolling and tumbling until it stopped at the woman’s  feet.

“Oh my, what a clumsy mistake.”

Uncertain if his comment referred to him or her, his blank white eyes stared into her face in almost tender fierceness like a quiet storm and it was evident the swordsman was Blind. Quite a humbled soul one would assume by personality, never the loudest in a room full of people.  Still, even then, he managed to see her somehow, not the finer details but her outlining beauty, much of just her sketch. That, and by judging the wears and kamon insignia across his back, Kenshi was a high ranking official for Jigoku; the Grandmaster of the Rising Sun Dojo. Today, had been her lucky day to meet such a myth.  He kneeled over to scoop the apple in hand before returning a small bow to his front, while the triplets waited eagerly for the woman’s response. With closed maws they too, showed her some courtesy and gently bowed.

As per the Heika's request, the service members of his employ busied themselves with prepping their domestic and foreign entertainment alike. For the evening, Koji had decided to organize entertainment from some of the less noticed neighbors they had acquired in Oo'Xora. Oo'Xora Province was the initial addition, which by now it's citizens had gotten quite well acquainted with those found here in the Midlands. However, there were a few regions that had remained recluse, only recently agreeing to enter the fold of their new sovereign. Takaramachi, Hokoroshima, and the quaint Emporia. While the smaller nations wouldn't seem like much compared to the Dynasty stretching towards a true Empire, Koji was beyond pleased to see them included, and hoped the others would do the same. A part of him regretted not directly inviting the nation of Lexdord, though that was simply due to lack of acquaintance and communication before hand. Just as the general public, they were welcome to visit of their own accord, if they had even heard of this celebration taking place so far from home.

The Taiko Drummers were ready to march, along with a modest show of their imperial forces; There was a Tatsuo or two to every dozen or so Tengu Knights, a total force of a approximately 75 soldiers complete with about 24 drummers and their Captain. Takaramachi and Hokoroshima respectively remained out of the entertainment, though Emporia managed to donate about a dozen of their nations infamous dancers. Each dancer was incredibly beautiful, and exotic in appearance. Some wore mysterious veils to mask their face, though a couple of them exposed the entirety of their beautiful faces for the crowds to see. With Koji's family assembled, and the entertainment ready, Koji gave the signal of his blessings to begin the formal segment of the celebration before their citizens and visitors alike were too lost in the fun to properly pay respect to those being honored today.

TOMOE!!!

The sudden rumble of drums gradually silenced the crowds in a wave as they turned their attention to the largest pagoda of the three featured in city square. The Imperial forces entered from the the city square from the sides of the pagoda, in which they funneled before it's stairs, crossing paths with one another before the forced looped about the square and drew back towards the pagoda before ultimately ascending the stairs and securing a perimeter about them and the entirety of the pagoda, with an obvious primary focus on the front. With his children still in his arms, Koji refreshed his grin and brought himself to stand erect at approximately six feet tall. He watched as the dancers mentioned made their exit to the stoop of the pagoda, in which they shared their exotic belly dancing with the crowds for several minutes to the ensemble of the drums.

When the dancing and drumming was reaching it's climactic end, the dancers evenly split in a staggered birth, ushering the handsome Heika and his beautiful family in perfectly despite their lack of practice before hand. When he emerged, Katiya was right by his side, an allusion to her ascension upon the throne. Celine was to his left side, slightly positioned behind them, and parallel to her was the expecting Noi. The crowds erupted in glee as the royal family exposed itself to them. Had the Heika not been holding both of his children, perhaps he would have felt compelled to waved at his supporters, his extended family. Kaori was rather excited to be found in the spotlight with her parents, though neither child was old enough yet to truly understand the gravity of this moment; Nor those that came before it. However, one day they would truly come to understand it all. Even if they differed in just how they accepted what they understood.

Gwen continued her path through the crowds, although it seemed they were parting like the seas before her further than where she was. The scent of wolves touched her sensitive nose a moment, although paying very little attention to it she continued towards the palace. Rarely she would touch shoulders with another, but fate felt differently at this moment. She was bumped into by the man surrounded by wolves, her eyes dropped to catch a glance of the serrated grins of the wolves. Stumbling just a little, a stranger steadied her before they continued to follow their own family enjoying the festivities.

The touch of the man raised her sight to the surface, fighting the gift of its urgency for control. Settling her nerves for a moment, her fogged eyesight cleared finally giving way to the man moving into pick up the apple that rolled forward to tap against her shoes. Looking down at the apple for a moment, hearing his words before looking to see how he was dressed differently from the citizens around them.

“Clumsy doesn’t seem to suit you.” She hadn’t noticed that he was blind, although she didn’t know of the dojo and its reputation, but she noticed the unspoken respect the citizens around them were giving as they flowed around them. Trapped in the moment, she would reach out to gently touch the man’s hand that now held the apple. “Do you mind if I walk with you? It appears we both have the same destination.” As her words left her painted lips, the white fog unfolded away from her near black eyes. Allowing her hand to fall away once more, she smiled a moment before turning back towards the path that would eventually lead her to Koji and his new bride.

With the sounding of drums echoing over the crowd, it seemed the festivities grew another level as dancers moved about before the crowd. It seemed Gwen was missing some of the main events of the entertainment, she slightly bowed before she continued her stroll to witness the rising of the empress.

Oh how long it had been since the region was last active it was a relief to see Koji's progress in reuniting the lands of Oo'xora has been successful.

It had been quiet for far too long and far too long has it been that they have been noticed

The ones who had volunteered to join this celebration was known as チャウ緑豆 (Chow Mung) , And Segi EnRiu although he didnt know how the government ever recived word of it, cobsidering its distance it would be highly unlikely that they ever got an invite nor would it be Likely to had ever make it in time. Yet here he was, in the Midlands unsurprisingly late yet there was still music and dancing so he couldnt have been that late.

They parked with a tiny airship which wasnt as glamorous as most of the airships built in lexdord but still it. Gleamed with its own level of beauty

"such a party for the Emporer and the rising Empress isint it fun watching this empire rise?" Is what EnRiu had said

"it is unstable, belive me when I say that in the end it will consume itself" Chow had said not feeling very confident in the choices of the Emperor he felt that having a party in a recently invaded land was a bit foolish considering the possibilities of assasins and insurgents but he came anyways to see how they handled their security when in the conditions of these factors

the sound of drums drawed them into the celebration and they had reached the festivities just in time to see the royal family reveal themselfs

The commencement of Kodo was almost too endearing to the Daiookami's senses in the way it loosened joints, his mind at the instance of the percussion, his soul that kindled with the sacred flames of the Ascetic Monks … All channeled towards the unveiling procession - this was ready music for his ears like a child eager to await the Show who couldn't help, but brand a light grin at the occasion. Kenshi lived accustomed to these Taiko, post-battle rhythms, nor he'd forget beginnings as Senjo no Ookami, an Officer under a very powerful Daimyo during the Onin and Yokai Wars. He knew the Emperor and his new Empress were to arrive shortly from hereon.

There was a Renovation Ball not too long ago; a Celebration in Avylon .... What appeared as some altercation between the Heika and a respecting serviceman of another Kingdom. The foreign man endeavored to confront the Emperor by his shoulder. In a blinding metallic flash from his saya nearly across the Hall; Kenshinobu, not only did he successfully refrain the apprehension … The aggressor who thought taking matters into his own hands, well literally did just that, lost his own hand as it was severed away the moment, he thought he could intercept Chijono in what looked to be a vulnerable time.

- Jigoku Nation was soon to be at War, this woman tried her life by laying hands on the Grandmaster, that in the same instant she felt comforted by him the Wolves could have reverted to bestial instincts to protect their Alpha and Master. In her trial however, he discerned her intents, any strain in her voice, or shift in heartbeat that would rule her a potential threat … Though, she was from foreign territory and previous knowledge of her or acquaintance went unknowing, it was possible the Heika had established relationships with her outside of his awareness.

"Long as my Wolves don't find a reason to turn you into their lunch, you're accompaniment is fine."

The mistress went untouched for now. Recollecting these events of late, even for a Blind Hanyo they remained put in his imagination as vivid as the day of the occurrence. Their eyes did not cross paths for a second time, but his attention further drifted from the ongoing Celebration and onto her as she'd soon discover his blind prominence. Again, it was uncertain if his words held any true desire on causing harm to the woman. Unpretentiously, this was his Warrior's Spirit, allowing himself to be touched by the grace of her hand. Kenshi replaced his Red Apple into his elongated white robe gently praising the alpha by it's artic grey mane as the Cobran Wolves squatted on hind legs and too watched the procession unfold from afar.

'Why the fuck is it so noisy?'

When the feeling of illness passed her by, she was faintly aware of Katiya's eyes watching her approach. A simple gesture of her head made a note to the other that she was not forgotten. Odd was it not? She would soon be handing down some responsibility to the others at Koji's command so that she might become a mother. The thought of motherhood startled Noi a bit as she inhaled deeply through her nose allowing her body and the baby within to breathe. Unease flooded over her body as smells and cravings began to run together like blood in the water. Was she smelling fucking bacon with peanut butter right now? A brow quirked as her left hand caressed her small lump of a belly while sniffing the air in silence. Opal pools stared out into the crowds as she searched each table for the mixture of food she was indeed craving at the moment, an yet she was unable to do anything about it. Without warning, Koji had called the festival into action to which Noi swiftly took her place alongside Celine and behind the Emperor and his new Queen to be. There was honor in her work here, however, what would she do with her many hours of growth to come? Despite every bit of confusion and unease about the situation, the damage was done, her body now held the seed firmly and the life had begun to grow. Like a flower in the desert stands she was new to the experience, all she wanted to do now was the take lessons from Celine on how to be a good parent.

One foot followed the other as she now embraced the roar of the people and the noise at hand. Her body felt as if it would invert under the pressure, her nerves were uneasy and on fire at this point. Allowing her hand to fiddle with the crimson ring that Dove had granted to her. Peace flooded her mind as the calm swiftly returned to her thick yet muscled frame. Her eyes burned with passion as she looked at Koji's back then to the crowd who cheered them on.

The new Empress stood next to Koji, her face without any kind of emotion. The drums started to play, her vision shifted to the side to watch as they began to bang against the enlarged base in unison. Truly an art to play Taiko drums, if one fell out of rhythm then the rest would simply not work, it acted as a dance that was as graceful as it was powerful. The knights were a sight to see as well, a show of prowess as it were. Just as brute as the knights were, so came the calm of the dancers swaying not far behind.

Ruby eyes wandered to Koji, and then back to the entertainment, a small brow raising. Of course, she felt that he sometimes liked to poke the beast within her. Surely this was for entertainment only, though her amusement held other thoughts. As they continued to make their way down to the crowds, she saw soldiers moving about to secure where the royal family stepped. As everything fell in to place, she saw the dancers once again appear and then spread amongst themselves to reveal Koji, his children, herself, and her sisters.

The large crowd erupted in cheering and Katiya found herself smiling. Unfamiliar ground left her following his lead, she didn’t lift a hand. Instead, she stood in place with her sisters and watched the crowd before her like a smiling statue. This was something Koji would have to present to the world. There was plenty to learn, a full ceremony like this was certainly one of them, at least how they conducted one. There were certain parts she was sure he would lead her through.  At least she hadn’t been totally baffled by the whole thing, in her human years her parents managed to throw rather expensive soirees. Katiya had been brought up on how to act in front of important people. Though she cherished being genuinely ‘down to earth’ with Koji.

With her eyes forward, she smirked with his question. What indeed suited a man who obviously wore a known symbol for a Dojo that appeared to hold such a presence just in the crowd itself, it was foolish to believe he accidentally lost the apple he now stashed away. Turning her dark gaze on the blind man once more, she smiled. “You don’t need wolves to tell you whether or not I am a threat.” Continuing to glide with the crowd, she would bring her hands to rest palms flat against the black and purple silks of her kimono.

Just a touch gave her enough insight to know the Grandmaster didn’t need eyes to see, nor wolves to alert him of a threat.

Shortly after her request, she laughed. ‘So be it.’ Gwen thought, the idea of her being wolf lunch tickled her. She would be one spicy treat, enough to burn one’s esophagus.

“Very forward. I like it.” Smiling to herself, she kept herself near the man giving just enough space for the wolves to keep their positions around him as desired.

1fbg2d.png'It was not rudeness, though perhaps it could be represented as such that Celine had not greeted her Emporer and his Empress. Kaori took control of the room by giving her father the attention he so deserves, and he returns it in kind, that it left little place to be sufficiently gracious. Katiya was not a person to be avoided or someone to be so quickly swept aside, not when her position next to Koji is of the most importance. Titles and manners hardly manner when a child so easily wraps you in their world and refuses to release you.

Wanting or not wanting attention from the Empress is not Celine's choice. By rights, it is the Empress who makes her presence known, who sets the tone for the conversation, and who shifts them across this expansive board of chess. In the end, these decisions are not up to the Concubine, they belong to the leaders of this growing Empire, and she will do her utmost to be respectable and considerate.

Any wanted conversation hung in the air as they were all swept away into the celebration. In the few minutes she was allowed, Celine had smiled at Noi and whispered a sweet hello to the woman. Out of any of her sisters, Noi was the closest to her heart, a valuable addition to the woman's unique life that holds together a myriad of events. Noi may find discomfort in her pregnancy; the other woman found absolute delight knowing that there was going to be another child keeping the women busy and hopefully. Thoughtfully, before they descended after the dancers, the Concubine touched her stomach in thought.

Kaori was delighted by the entire event, smiling and laughing as she pointed at the crowds of people. Celine was confident Koji could handle the two children, so she took a moment to look over at Noi to see how she was handling the event. There are a variety of things that can trigger a reaction when you're pregnant; this amount of noise has to be nerve-wracking and the crowds suffocating. As they walked, she offered her sister her hand, an attempt to ease the pregnant woman.

As the drummers arrived at their conclusion, as did the dancers, as if on queue. The crowds erupted with delight of the performance for a lingering moment, though the Emperor pacing closer to the edge of the steps that lead down into the square created a wave of silence that slowly washed over the crowds. He waited until he knew those near enough to hear his booming voice were silent and ready to have his words. While his children moved to and fro in bewilderment, he merely continued to hold them so long as they would allow it. His trademark emotionless face continued to be worn despite the deep joy he felt inside himself. After all, images were important, and until Koji was sure of himself once more, his people, his nation needed some consistency in leadership.

"It is my greatest pleasure to welcome you all to my home! Into the presence of my growing family! After long last, my first born and my heir have been revealed to you!"

The crowds acquired a brief moment of cheering and clapping following this rhetorical announcement. Again he waited for silence to befall them before continuing.

"Unfortunately, the rumors you have heard flying around in the recent weeks, months even, are true! Your Empress has indeed fallen due to complications delivering our precious heir! Fear not however, for we have our heir, Akui Datsuzoku! His mother, my wife, will never be forgotten! So long as her legacy our legacy lives on, she shall live on precariously within him! To him and his sister Kaori, hail and welcome!"

"HAIL AND WELCOME!!!"

They cheered yet again, professing their love and acceptance of their Emperor's children. If it hadn't been noticed before, now was a great time for the citizens and the visitors alike to see that another one of his Concubines stood even now with a swell assuming her belly. Soon, a third child would be born. Fate has whispered in Koji's ear that it shall be another son! So long as he lived, it would be easy to guess that he was far from finished producing offspring to ensure his legacy be fulfilled.

"Today's celebration is about more than celebrating the life of my children and my late Empress! Today it is with the greatest honor our nation can muster than we recognize our new Empress!"

He paused for a moment as a hand maiden appeared from beyond the Heika, hosting a tray with a total of three items upon it. In honor of Kimi's old traditions they tried to begin imitating, Koji had elected three items to become the trademark artifacts gifted to the reigning Empress. Starting with Katiya receiving these gifts, each Empress of this Empire to follow her would receive these three items for as long as their lineage was allowed to linger for generations to come. Shitte no Mira, Shinju-kyo, boasting an ornate copper surface that was fashioned in the likeliness of the Dynasty's Kamon and hosting a mirror on the reverse side; Which is allows the viewer to see whom or what they desire most at any given time. Mojiretsu no Setsudan-Gatana, The String Cutting Blade; a Tanto crafted of metals unknown that has been defined as an enchanted blade that allegedly cuts their red string, thus neutralizing their fate. Last but not least, he gifted her with the pearls Kimi had once given to him on their wedding day, Manju and Kanju, Ebb and Flow; Which grant the user control over any body of water.

"Step forth my dearest Katiya, and accept your fate as our Empress!"

While they all cheered and applauded regardless, some of the citizen couldn't help but look at each other funny a brief moment or seem surprised to any degree, for while Katiya as not an issue of acceptance, the nation seemed to be all but certain that the next Empress would have been Celine. Not only did she publicly appear as the Emperor's favorite, but she was also blessed with the honor of barring the Emperor's first born, perturbing even the late Empress Kimi. When she stepped forward, Katiya would of course accept her artifacts and her new title. If she wished to take the chance, she was given a brief moment to speak, however, if she clearly wished not to, the Emperor was fine with continuing before there was chance of awkward or otherwise unnecessary silence.

Katiya watched as Koji introduced his children, she smiled as Kaori beamed with excitement to see such people cheering. Meanwhile, she was surprised with how calm Akui was, she smirked lightly, thinking how his demeanor really did match his father more than Kimi. As he announced Kimi's death, she could see the concern in people's eyes, yet filled with hope when Koji reassured them her presence would stay within Akui.

Since hearing was heightened for her kind, she could see some of the crowd was pointing and whispering about Noi. Katiya couldn't look beside her at Noi, although some of her wanted to. Thankfully she was with Celine, if anything she knew her former concubine sister would ensure that Noi was taken care of. She noticed while they were waiting to come out that she was clearly uncomfortable. Having not spoken to her, and not understanding what being pregnant was like, she could only imagine that it was already uncomfortable enough, and standing with a large crowd wasn't ideal.

A maiden came to face her and Koji as he spoke she bestowed three items. Katiya turned to Koji, without saying a word he knew she thought each was beautiful. Carefully she picked up each, feeling its call to her. When energy drew cold on one, she placed it down. Finally she landed on the pearls, when she touched them there was something familiar about them. Something that felt like home, as well as a dare, a dislike for her. A slow grin appeared across her lips. It was like touching a wild horse that refused to be tamed, the allure of control to master it gave her pause.

'I am everything you didn't want, yet here we are.' Katiya carefully picked up the pearls and the maiden assisted with putting them on. After a moment of silence she turned to the crowd. They were obviously suspicious and confused. If she refused to speak then it would only make them more so. Instead, maybe keeping things brief would at least give her a voice, perhaps create talk about her that wasn't so perplexed.

"An empire takes many to make it, however, takes a few to make it exceptional and worthy of being written into history. I am blessed with the honor of being your incoming Empress." Katiya knew that she might not have been their first choice, but she was Koji's first choice. Their history was unknown to anyone standing on the platform with her. Koji knew what taking her hand meant, the minute she accepted being a concubine she would not do as her sisters could. Producing children wasn't in her cards. What was in her cards was protection of him, protection of an empire she had grown to love. Shi, the concubine of death was to protect everything Koji held dear. One thing was certain, Kimi would have been more than displeased with Koji.

"I promise with everything I have that I will earn your respect, and in return, I only ask that we continue flourish, that we win any war up against us." Katiya bowed to the city, it wasn't that she needed to, and maybe it was unorthodox. She knew deep down she was in service to those around her, just as they were to her. Even if she found silence, even if they didn't approve, she came back up and faced them. One could say that respect was simple to earn with those of an empire, if you had a title, you could simply wave fear in their face. Katiya's aim was not to become an empress built solely on fear, the only fear she hoped to instill was in those that crossed her path with spiteful intentions.

Finally she looked at Koji and smiled, her eyes shifting to Kaori and Akui briefly before facing the front and standing beside him.

'Count Noi, keep counting down from 100, you are gonna get through it.' Her mind raced as her legs began to tremble and shake, the anxiety of the eyes watching her made her uncomfortable. The noise was just beginning to bother her as sound after sound assaulted her keen senses. The smells in the air confused her making her stumble before catching Celine's warm hand. Her right hand went to her stomach as her pace slowed significantly. Noi was slowly beginning to hate herself for being dramatic of being bothered but such trivial things. This was, of course, her first time dealing with all of these sensations rolling through her skin. Noi was to hold her ground she had to, there was to be no show of weakness as the new Empress was to be crowned. Holding onto Celine's hand tightly Noi worked on her breathing as she gave Celine a nod moving closer to her side.

What would she do if she did not have Celine to help walk her through this trial. A true friend and ally which she would give her life for. The right hand gently stroked the small bump in her belly. It was clear for all to see from the shape of her dress. Muscles burned and limbs ached as sleep was something she sweetly desired. Today was not one of her good days to say in the least. She did not feel energized; she only felt the unease in her belly as she continued to stand before so many people. The fireworks were going to be her least favorite when they came to be. She gripped Celine's hand tightly doing her best to take it all in with her ever-present fear of her own situation. She held her peace however when the march came to a halt, Noi straightened her back and breathed deeply. Her eyes remained forward as Koji began the ceremony and the elevation of Katiya's standing to Empress. The task was indeed a great honor which Noi believed belonged to another but perhaps there was a reason for why it happened this way. There was nothing personal her only task was to do all she could now to grow this baby and handle what work was or was not given to her to do.
