Ebony-Azura, Hub of Ebony-Yahera, Athentha

Wednesday, Midday

Esben sighed as she stood there. It seemed that the artifacts of the Black Heart Mirror were being uncovered so fast. And no one knew what they could truly do. The Black Heart Mirror Organization hadn't been seen in five decades. Yet the rumors she heard didn't make it easy.

Looking down at the bounty paper, she saw the picture of a familiar face. Her own brother, Esben Eden. She sighed so softly. When would she be rid of this nusiance in her life?

Capricorn-Man-Art.jpgWhen would she have Marquis imprison this stain upon her life? Esben was a disgrace to her family, taking after their own father. Yet she felt that finding at least one artifact could let her have the lead against  him.

Esben hoped. Hoped that her twin brother had no idea she was back here in Ebony-Azura to find the Black Heart Mirror Sword and Shield. She worried that the organization was growing. Swallowing pitiful souls to make their true mirror selves.

In truth it scared her.

Walking down the path, Esben Djinn kept quiet as she didn't want to have his spies find her. She didn't want to alert the ones on his side. Not until she found the artifact. In truth, Esben scared her. He was exactly like their father in every way and shape.

This beginning didn't bode well for Esben at all.

112efd66306e6c78b14ed6e35209b37c.jpgKnowing her brother was going to hunt her down, Esben Djinn walked lower path. Where the path crossed, she took a left turn. Hoping that he hadn't acquired spies yet. She needed more time, more ways to combat her brother and set him straight.

Or at least try.

The beautiful elf stopped then as she eyed the forest ground. It was still midday and she was tired. Running from her brother was something she had never done before. And she wondered why he chose now of all times to chase her.

Was it because she was going after the Black Heart Mirror sword and shield? It had to be it right? Esben sighed as she stood up and dusted herself off. It was time to head into the heart of Serphus Aluminium.

Esben wouldn't stop until she claimed back the artifact.

〰〰〰〰

Sitting in the back corner of the Rusty Sword Inn, was the infamous slaver, Esben Eden. He poured himself a drink as he sat back in his chair. He would have a moment to himself before he mentally had a meeting.

'So, here's the deal. You can corrupt and capture my sister. Enslave her, do whatever. I want to stop her from getting that artifact.' Esben thought. 'I will pay you a thousand Athethian coin, and give you the Black Heart Mirror Spear, Black Heart Mirror Great Sword and a Black Heart Mirror Robes.'

Esben then waited for an answer as he drank his rum. Knowing this would be a tantalizing deal too hard to pass up. Of course, he would offer more to get rid of his sister permanently.

'I will give you the items in person. I want to see the look on her face when she sees her brother outsmarted her.'

"So, here's the deal. You can corrupt and capture my sister. Enslave her, do whatever. I want to stop her from getting that artifact. 'I will pay you a thousand Athethian coin, and give you the Black Heart Mirror Spear, Black Heart Mirror Great Sword and a Black Heart Mirror Robes.'

The brown haired looked back at Esben, interest glinting in his brown eyes. It seems the trip to Athentha was worth it as this wonderful opportunity fell on his lap quite fortunately. Was fate taking a liking to him? Or was this a ruse that would ultimately lead to his downfall. Whatever it was, Middy would have to make do with this request not only for this employer but also for his boss the Lady Blackhead.

There were orders for him to scout the lands of Athentha and if possible establish a branch of their cartel there. Of course Middy wasn't thrilled with the notion that he would be stuck in this unfamiliar place for a long stretch of time without coin or reinforcements. Right now he is broke as fuck and any job he can get would be a godsend. And now he felt blessed as this fellow offers him riches for a presumably dangerous job.

Would he survive the job just to be rewarded enough coin for his prolonged survival in this unfamiliar land? Or will he fail and die forever knowing how much of a failure he is? Only time will tell.

Nodding his affirmation, Middy gave his reply. "Guess it's a done deal. So tell me, where is this sister of yours?"

Esben smiled with such a malice smile as he leaned back into the chair. Someone wanting to help him get back an artifact without his sister in the way. Taking another long sip of his drink he then shook his head.

‘You'll find Esben Djinn in the city of Ebony-Abyssal south of Ebony-Azura. The Lady Cassandra always travels there for a holiday. You'll find her there. You can do what you like with her, just make sure she doesn't come back nor--nor look for the artifact. Come find me when the job's done.’

With that Esben stood and walked out of the inn as if he was never there. He enjoyed the corruption of the pure. The elf grinned to himself as he would enjoy watching his sister suffer for her transgressions of wanting to fix the family line.

〰〰〰〰〰

“Lady Esben do not tire yourself out so easily. We have a long trek ahead and you cannot protect me if you are tired.” replied Lady Cassandra as she looked upon the templar knight. “No one knows whom your brother has hired this time to stop you from getting the artifact and protecting the people.”

“I know, I know.” Esben replied as she wiped the sweat from her brow. “But I need to make sure I'm ready for whomever comes. Those persuaded by the mirror artifacts will do anything to possess them. My brother--I didn't think he'd do this. Marquis couldn't change his mind either.”

Lady Cassandra smiled as she listened to her companion speak of her troubles. No one knew that Esben would want the artifacts yet Cassandra did. The elf did make them after all. The pair made their way towards the city of Ebony-Abyssal. The time was good, the winter air would do wonders for them both.

“Do not fret over things you cannot control my dear. You have risen from the dark deeds of your family name. You are here changing what darkness resides over it. In time, Esben, you will see.”

“My Lady--”

Cassandra cut her off with a wave of her hand unafraid of the dangers looming. She comforted yet couldn't comfort Esben Djinn at all. And the elf knight could feel something coming, something she couldn't fight. Cassandra stared at Esben softly smiling knowing she wasn't at ease. The walk continued on now in silence.

Middy grimaced. What is he supposed to do now? With the man gone, the brown-haired youth remained in his seat, bitterly staring at the flagon of ale before him. It's strange enough that the man wanted to do away with his sister but Middy was not one to judge. After all, he would do the same to his boss, Lady Blackhead if he deemed her unfit to lead. One day there will come a time that he would have to remove the woman who raised and trained him from her own seat of power and claim the mantle of the boss as his own. For now, though, he has work to do and perhaps some begging for help. May the gods watch over him.

Somewhere in Ebony-Abyssal

"So the little boy couldn't do it after all and had to run back home to mommy."

Middy sighed at the woman sneering at him. It was his aunty Sera, one of the Lady Blackhead's trusted aides. Middy had gone back to ask for reinforcements with the excuse of having found a big job and admitting he was not man enough to accomplish it flawlessly by his own. And now he got Sera as back-up. There was another that was supposed to appear but the question is when.

Ignoring Sera, Middy headed towards the nearest tavern in search of information. Someone, as accomplished as this Esben chick, should be pretty well known by these parts. After all, lips get loose with a little bit of spirit and Middy has more than enough coin for it. But he would have to rein in Sera first. That woman could drink all the pocket money he was given and soon there'll be none left to exchange for information.

"Now Sera," Middy started, "Only one mug alright? One mug-"

He never did finish that sentence as Sera's fist came flying at his face and everything went black.

Esben and Cassandra made it to the tavern as both women looked at each other. It had been a long walk and they were both tired. Esben Djinn looked down then as she favoured the Lady knight. That she wanted to make sure she was safe. Yet, she felt she couldn't. Lady Cassandra placed her hand on Esben's shoulder.

“Do you fear Esben will turn you into a monster?” Cassandra asked as she released her hand. “He enjoys turning people into black heart mirror creatures. I fear him. And those he hires. Let's get a drink. Get drunk in our sorrows and relax.”

“As you wish Lady Cassandra.” Esben Djinn replied softly.

Cassandra sighed. But she tried to cheer up Esben. Grabbing her arm, Cass dragged the woman inside for a drink. Sitting at the bar, the two ordered two glasses of rum. Esben held her glass as Cass drank hers. Not knowing their fate would change in this tavern, by Sera and Middy.

“Tell me Esben Djinn, why do you stay to protect me? You can leave and find Marquis you know. Your brother--your brother is a madman, we need to stop him.”

Esben said nothing as she eyed the woman Sera. She stood and left Cassandra to her own devices. Sitting in a chair across Sera, she ordered a round of drinks for both. Esben would interrogate this pretty woman.

“You're not from around here are you?” Esben asked in her accent, a combination of scottish and irish-- as she sat closer to the woman. Drinking half the glass of rum. “You don't look like the inhabitants here. Then again, a pretty woman like you don't come along that often. You are? I'm Esben Djinn Valentina Von Ja'Guthra--”

She stopped as she continued drinking her drink. Of course it was a large glass, so she was a bit drunk. She closed the space between, as her hand ran through Sera's hair. Blushing, she removed it quickly nervously laughing.

“My apologies, I just--I just might be drunk. Then again something about you makes me wonder about you.”

Esben then looked down as she inched closer towards Sera and before she knew it, her lips were on the woman's own. She let go after a minute or two and drank her rum. The elf should have run but she was too drunk for her own good. And Lady Cassandra was preoccupied with her own drinks.

SERA

It was the nicest thing anyone has ever said to Sera. Ever. In fact, Sera was blushing. Suddenly she had lost track of her objectives. She just sat there dumbstruck with this woman/s inappropriate actions.

'Uh...uh...wait..um..wait...." She stammered as if willing herself to turn the other woman down. Her mind says no, but her body kept saying yes. How could she when this woman called her disfigured face beautiful. Underneath all those gross burn marks and heavy scars. The woman had called her hair beautiful but it was but a wig that his the smooth skin that was her scalp.

Sera was by no means a physically appealing woman but this total stranger saw something with Sera. In fact, Sera was already beet red after that kiss and she could hardly look into the other woman's eyes.

Sera was lost. Lost with what to do. Lost with how to approach this delicate situation.

Esben Djinn. That was the other woman's name. And it was Sera's job to dispatch that woman.

What will Sera choose?

Lady Cassandra watched Esben Djinn out of the corner of her eye. She was not someone to leave alone when drunk. And Esben was totally drunk. She sighed getting up and off the bar stool as she approached the two. Not that she was a babysitter but because she felt something off on the other woman.

Esben knew his sister liked to hit on women when she was drunk. It was why he sent a woman or at least that was Cass's assumption as she didn't truly know if Esben had hired anyone but she wouldn't put it past him. He was the charismatic person who could charm you into anything even murder.

“Excuse me miss, but could you refrain from this young lady. You can see she is drunk and your advances aren't good. Kindly walk away from my friend.”

Cassandra spoke with a soft voice yet it wielded control and command. Well most of the time. She looked at Esben as she was waving Cass away, drinking more of the rum and trying even more to hit on the woman named Sera. Cassandra sighed going up to Esben and lifting her up by the arm.

“Lemme go.” Esben said fighting Cassandra as she was interfering once more. “I'm not your child or anything so lemme go. I'm trying to relax here. Esben is trying to destroy us all, I just want a moment of peace.”

“You are making a scene Esben. Plus you are wasted. Come on, let's get a room and you can sleep off your drunken stupidor. Let's leave this suspicious woman--”

Esben said nothing as she pushed Cassandra off her and cutting off her words. Standing up, the elf dusted herself off and sat back down so close up to Sera. It was so close that their faces almost touched. Cassandra growled and then picked up Sera by the arm and got in her face. She didn't trust the woman at all.

“You need to leave. You can see she cannot make good decisions at the moment. You preying on the girl isn't going to help. And you can tell that snot nosed bastard Esben that he can choke on his own spit. When you go back to him and report your failure. Now get out and leave--”

“No need to be rude Cass. She ain't hurting no one. Plus you don't know she's with my brother. He doesn't send women to capture and obtain artifacts from me. He sends men I think, can't recall.”

Cassandra muttered as she dropped Sera and grabbed Esben's arm again as she dragged her out of the tavern. Esben waving and smiling at Sera as she was dragged away. Winking even. Cass sighed as she knew it would be a long reprimand for the knight templar who was now drunk.

Of course Esben sent someone to collect and capture his sister. And he sent a woman. It was something she wouldn't see coming. They totally ignored Middy who sat there. Cassandra dragged the elf knowing she shouldn't have let her drink in the first place.

SERRAIDA "SERA" MAVAJO

“Excuse me miss, but could you refrain from this young lady. You can see she is drunk and your advances aren't good. Kindly walk away from my friend.”

Sera was dumbfounded. Why is she at fault now? She hadn't done anything yet, nor was she interested in this slutty Esben chick in the first place. Who was this other bitch anyway? Eben's nanny? Surely a grown man like Esben would have no need for someone to help her change her diapers. True, Sera was smitten by the rather aggressive advances of this Esben but that was all it amounted to because some stuck-up bitch had to ruin all the fun. Now Sera is mad.

“You need to leave. You can see she cannot make good decisions at the moment. You preying on the girl isn't going to help. And you can tell that snot-nosed bastard Esben that he can choke on his own spit. When you go back to him and report your failure. Now get out and leave--”

Preying on her? On Esben? Surely this bitch can jest. There's no way in hell Sera would be preying when this Esben chick was the one taking advantage of her. Is this woman daft or just drunk? Probably got a stick up her ass, that's for sure. Angry thoughts aside, Sera decided it would be best for her to just stay still and watch the show. Sometimes silence is the best option.

“No need to be rude Cass. She ain't hurting no one. Plus you don't know she's with my brother. He doesn't send women to capture and obtain artifacts from me. He sends men I think, can't recall.”

Now that's more like it. Esben's words made Sera smile. She was innocent after all. Was it even possible for Sera to be falsely accused with taking advantage of a woman while intoxicated? They are both girls, both consenting adults. Surely there's nothing wrong. And no, Sera was not seducing anyone at all.

MIDIAN "MIDDY" OCHRE

Middy sighed as he watched the other woman take away his intended target. Should they act now or wait for the night? Will they even get the chance later? Maybe he should follow them just in case. He downed his whole mug of alcohol in one gulp and motioned to follow the two but was stopped by a blushing Sera who would not let go of his hand.

"Don't Middy." Sera mumbled, "I can't let you go after the love of my life."

The young man groaned. Seriously? What the fuck is wrong with Sera now? Middy pulled his hand away from Sera's gasp and spoke, "Sera, please. I need to go to the little boy's room."

As realization set in on Sera she quickly looked away, face going red in embarrassment. "Oh, I thought you were planning to do something else."

"Bathroom first. Oh, and where the hell is Khaki anyways?"

While everyone is busy with their own concerns, there was this little girl with a mug in each hand heading towards Middy and Sera. There's a certain sway in her steps, probably with all that alcohol, In fact, one can deduce that she is even more wasted then Esben with the way she is moving. Too bad for Esben and her escort though as the little girl accidentally stumbled towards the two, her body colliding with Esben's while the mugs of alcohol she accidentellay let go, flew towards the other woman's face, splattering alcohol all over her. The little girl was mostly too drunk to even care, she did try to apologize though.

"Oh -hic- apologies. I'll buy you a -hic- a drink later."

112efd66306e6c78b14ed6e35209b37c.jpgAs Lady Cassandra pulled Esben along to chastise her, a young girl bumped into the templar knight. Cassandra would chew out both parties for their uncilivised and unprofessional display. But as the mug hit her face, she let go of the elf. Wiping the alcohol off her face.

Boy was she angry. And she wanted to ring the neck of the girl. Yet her first priority was Esben. And getttng her and the artifact she's carrying to safety. Yet as she looked around, Esben was gone.

"No need. Just be more careful. Now excuse me, I need to find my companion. She's carrying something important." Cassandra spoke trying to move around the girl.

Esben sighed softly sliding back into a chair in the back so that Cassandra couldn't find her. Lately the elf couldn't stand the temper her companion threw at her lately. Her hands wrapped around the glass of rum.

The templar knight carried a very important artifact that belonged to a cult member. She was going to examine it and find out the secrets behind the Black Heart Mirror Organization. Looking up, she looked to see if the pretty woman was still there.

"Why would Cass do that?" she whispered to herself. "She's seen me drunk before, why cause a stink now? Is it because of the artifact with me? And where's that pretty girl? Maybe the artifact could help her..."

Esben didn't know as she drank more rum. She was way beyond wasted. At the point to be persuaded to anything.

SERRAIDA "SERA" MAVAJO

"To hell with your feelings, Sera. Do what needs to be done."

Prompted by Middy's words, Sera slowly edged out of her seat and made her move. It was by luck that Khaki managed bumble her way towards the woman and her Esben and Sera will make sure not to waste that opportunity. Sometimes that little girl can be quite random and still remain effective. Thanking the gods for this rather brief window of opportunity, Sera followed her target- the lovely lady named Esben.

With a smile she slid into the seat across the woman, her cheeks already turning red. She needed to keep Esban moving farther and farther away from her the other woman. Sera can't do anything serious now in public, too many eyes watching. Starting a commotion would only garner the attention of that other bitch. She should play it smoothly for now. Actually, she was rather graceful the sudden surge of her emotions and feelings. It adds more sincerity to what she is about to do.

"Soooo...." Sera started, "I don't know how to say this. But it seems I have fallen for you."

MIDIAN "MIDDY" OCHRE

"No need. Just be more careful. Now excuse me, I need to find my companion. She's carrying something important."

It seems it was Middy's time to act. After giving Sera her orders, the young man headed towards Cassandra and Khaki's direction. There was haste in his steps and he seemed to be stomping in his way. His face was now furious, mouth curling downwards, his eyebrow furrowing, his cheeks flaming. Ignoring the pain caused by Sera's pointless punch to his eye, Middy confronted Cassandra.

"I'm sorry but this is my companion that you just assaulted. Tell me? How will you pay for our spilled drinks?" @Rin

He moved then to pick-up Khaki. "Goddammit child! Have you drunk too much again?"
