Exterior: Almost always covered in snowy white, soft feathers. 2% of Wise Owls born are covered in deep black or purple feathers. All variants include the antler-like eyebrow appendages.

Temperament: Fierce, Loyal, and Territorial. Pestlike in the cities
Strengths: Extremely sharp talons and speed.
Weaknesses: Size and Eyesight. 

Weapons: Sharp talons and, when that doesn't work, speed coupled with their beaks.

Drops/Reward: When tamed, Wise Owls are loyal and rather intelligent familiars. When killed: Feather of the Wise Owl (used in crafting various drugs and other concoctions), Eyes of the Wise Owl, Brow of the Wise Owl (when properly utilized, they can provide a mental boost that allows the user 10-20 minutes of heightened awareness, speed, agility, and problem-solving).

» Brow of the Wise Owl: In order to properly utilize it, the brow must come off the owl completely whole, and must be left to dry in the sun for up to 5 hours, untouched. After at least 5 hours of prayer to the deity of choice, the dried brow can be crushed and snorted to achieve its effects, liquefied and injected to achieve full effects, or brewed into a tea to achieve full effects. Once it wears off, users may feel nauseous, light-headed, or hear the whispers of the dead Wise Owls from every corner of Alterion. Use at one's own caution.

Known Locations: Alterion; wild on all sides of the Skar
Assumed Locations: They are found more on the western side of the Skar, where grasslands are abundant, but heartier variations have been found within the Devla Sands and Kageroth Mountains, with variant traits, looks, and abilities.

Dimensions: Varies with location and sex

  • Grassland Average Males: 19 to 23 hands (76" to 92")
  • Grassland Average Females: 21 to 26 hands (84" to 104")
  • Below average, found in the Kageroth Mountains (shortest recorded: 16 hands (64"))
  • Above average, found in the Devla Sands (tallest recorded: 29.5 hands (118"))

Weight: Varies with location and sex

  • Grassland Average Males: 1,900 to 2,200 lbs (861 to 1,000 kg)
  • Grassland Average Females: 2,000 to 2,300 lbs (907 to 1,043 kg)

Exterior: The fur (scale, bone, feather, etc) of the Costrian Skar is ever-changing. There is no generic color and more often than not, the horse seems to take on the property-color of the real estate around its first three years of birth, except for the grasslands, which usually warrant black, brown, beige, and rarely white. At Class 4 and 5, the stallion can take on additional properties, granting it wings, scales, or other abilities to aid in combat or desires needed by the rider.

Temperament: The attitude is dependent upon the horse and rider as a team, most often. Otherwise, they're rather docile in the wild, if not nervous or anxious and will flee.
Strengths: Endurance, Stamina, Speed, Might, Pull, Drive, Loyalty
Weaknesses: Simple-minded (cannot think much for itself), Agility (evasion due to size)

Weapons: Hooves, primarily. Class 4—5 may have horns or other features.
Items: N/A
Drops/Reward: Combating a Costian Skar will net you a collectively negative reputation with all other Costian Skar's, to the point that karma will need to be maintained in good standing for several weeks or months, depending before one may trust you. [Collective conscious: wild spirit]

Observation: By far, one of the most fascinating creatures Alterion yields, due to the myriad of uses and lore that surrounds the singular riding breed the continent has to offer. With time and training, some have sprouted wings, gained the ability to have an elemental breath attack, and even leave scorching residual on the path they ride.

The Izral people refer to them as MageSteeds, due to their malleable ethereal presence during their final evolution, in which elements may be absorbed by the spirit of the animal, in order to genetically modify their existence. Riders of legend have seen horses of magma, who's footfalls scorch the soil with molten flames while wielding a mane of fire. Their properties seem endless.
