The scorching desert is rapidly shrinking as Ynliss rages through the heated sands. Blood flows from the bodies of the Zodiac Knights that have fallen from Ynliss' rising anger; his rampage causes the sands to shift, kicking up storms that surround the angry God.

Spoiler

The time had come at last for the reign of the seraphim to end. On this day, the people of Renovatio would be freed from the influence of these so called deities, and at last, their destinies will their own.

No longer will we suffer their teachings which only to weaken us.

No longer will their whispers crawl within our skulls.

Soon they will be dead, relegated to memory as humanity moves forward to the future. One such champion of this cause stands here now, a man known as Lancelot, who stands along the sandy dunes of Ooxora. Cape fluttering in the wind, he studied the trail of destruction left by the careless hand of the one known as Ynliss.

Today was the beginning, the beginning of his legend, of Lancelot the Godslayer.

r347XZv.jpgThere was something beautiful and savage about the Gods. They came in many forms, with many faces across many cultures in many ‘verses. She was a champion of their light—her divine gift and brute force combined for a hellish time. Here in Renovatio, in a true display of power, God-Emperor and his truly Divine Wife sought to repel the Old Gods from Renovatio to their own realm.

She didn’t like it. You would tear residents from their homes? Force them into exile for your own peace of mind? Did they not owe thanks to these Old Ones for creating the world for which they lived in? Or was this another version of the same Cosmic Chess Her Imperial Majesty fought in Genesaris? Still, she had her orders—and the will of the Empress was absolute.

In the desert heat she tolerated the unrelenting storm that heralded the God's arrival. In the distance behind her, a dot appeared—another Zodiac Knight come in hopes of felling the Old One, perhaps? Aziza clicked her tongue in doubt—and mockery, perhaps. She was a Knight of the Aralim, but she held her own reputation before those days. The Old One was coming, now. He was a beautiful sight, she decided. She sent a quick prayer to her own God and slammed the helm shut. Her flail was tight in her grip, spidery scrawl of runes glowing a soft yellow-gold—a testament to her supernatural gift.

The Vestal was battleworn in her armaments. They told the tale of a traveler who came across many cultures. Silks from Weland, patterns of Velhatien desert tribes. Leather from Sigil and metal from across the multiverse. She was armed and dangerous—and ready. Beneath the veil of her visor, bright ochre eyes watched the dancing mirage of heat waves. She stole a glance behind her to see the speck growing and shaping itself into—a knight, indeed? Still too far to tell from where or from who.

Come on, she thought to herself as she turned to face Ynliss

Come and face the Lioness…

In the great scheme of things, beings of power live and die just like we do. There is nothing in this world that is forever, for the chaos of creation is always at work, spawning forth that which replaces the previous generation.

The storm was raging in the distance, and there seemed to be something, or someone, standing against it. Whoever or whatever it was, Lancelot felt concerned that his legend was going to be tampered with by its presence. That could not be allowed, so he resolved to join the battle before his glory could be stolen from him.

In the depths of my soul, I obtain the power of Erudite Swiftness!

Coursing with psychic energy, Lancelot's legs carried him forward at greater speeds, towards the fight that was about to begin. By the sheer amount of power being produced by the mad god, it was going to be a mighty battle indeed.

"YOU DARE TO CHALLENGE ME?! YOU WILL DIE JUST LIKE THE REST OF THESE PATHETIC MORTALS WHO THOUGHT THEY COULD DEFEAT ME! RAAARRRGH!"

The betrayal at the hands of the Kommandant hurt, so Ynliss sought to hurt all the ungrateful mortals who thought themselves greater than them. They were Gods, Gods! It was by their hands that they raised the people up into the greatness they so enjoyed, and now they wished to throw it back in our faces! He would show them, he would smash their pathetic cities, kill their worthless champions, and he intended on making the Kommandant pay, that she would suffer the worst of all of them, and they would see just how insignificant they all were in comparison to beings such as him.

His words scorched like the sun, the sand storm around him churning with the same fury that had slain the elite warriors that now littered the area around him. Zodiac knights attempted to bring him down, but they could not fathom the amount of rage that was held inside of him. Now another stood in his way, and he was more than willing to share his rage with her as well. It didn't matter how mighty they felt, he was a GOD, and no one was going to stand in his way again.

With one step towards her, the full power of the sun was unleashed, his rage laid bare for the world to see. The bodies around him burned, the metal armor melting into puddles, and the sand around him turned to glass, shattering around him from the very pressure of the air, now turning to ozone in a matter of moments. With swirling shards of razor sharp glass at his control, he advanced forward towards the woman, ready to tear her limb from limb.

r347XZv.jpg"In the name of the Red Goddess, I invoke power." Iridescent dust settled on Aziza--and with it came the power she sought. It sparkled in the sun, like ethereal glitter that doused her.

It was no coincidence she had been summoned by her Empress. She was a conduit for the divine--and Raveena herself was divine. She could see as Aziza saw, felt as she felt--and also lent forth her power through [Second Skin]. Kamala the Usurper, Ai'a the All Mother. Raveena Jhanavi of the Sun. There were many whispered names for their mysterious Empress and her new-found power. Blessed by the Sun--named for the Sun and by the Sun--and so the golden aura of her Empress enveloped Aziza, like a sun's corona.

It was only by Raveena's divine will did Aziza withstand the godly might of Ynliss. The deep-seated power of the Old One's rattled her to her bones--neither here nor there but his voice reverberated around her. There was no denying she could test her mettle against his power--but barely so. This one was ancient, and though the Sefirot Empress was old--she was still young by comparison.

The heat was scorching, the sands bubbling and melting under the rage of the desert sky's divine king. A monarch betrayed by another--such was the fickle nature of the divine. She held reverence to some, and no love for others. Aziza's heels dug in as she sank into a crouch, walls of glass parting like waves--beautiful and bizarre. She had seen lightning strike sand before--admiring the way the sand seemed to stretch upwards in beautiful spirals.

There were no cries from those unprotected--none that could be heard. They were drowned by the ferocious scream of the Old One's fury. The ground was shaking--from Aziza or Ynliss, it remained to be seen.
They permeated the ground quietly, with nothing but little tufts of sand flying up to announce their arrival. Shards of black, from deep underground--sharps of obsidian that were folded and melded by the unforgiving heat and pressure of the desert. It was Raveena's own [Obsidian Obscurra] technique, aided by Aziza's own guiding power.

The God advanced, and the Lioness was ready.

Second Skin:

“Over time we'll steadily start to move and feel the same. This "second skin" I gave you should let you know almost everything about my physical condition as it is for you. Also you can focus on a larger perimeter and know your surroundings better if you wish to." – King Lucas, to Raveena

An ability acquired by King Lucas for combat synchronization. Emitting a pale luster, a veil of light will fit the caster and casted like a second skin, feeling the warmth of energy around them. They will soon feel an unnatural connection with their surroundings while feeling a subtle pulse of power flow over them that seeps into their skin. This energy connects the physical senses between caster and casted. Raveena will know when Aziza is moving, Aziza will know what Raveena is looking at and vice versa. Being in the others' ‘skin also allows the casted and caster to access one ability at a time. Once cast, the ability remains dormant until invoked.

Spoiler

The presence of a fellow sun deity made itself known to Ynliss, further stoking the fire that burned within his heart. For that conniving wretch to invite other gods to this land, in an effort to usurp their rule, and then replace them?!

His advance came on quickly, swinging the massive sword with thunderous fury. The weapon, like it's master, was an item of fire and strength. It emitted a great deal of heat, burning with the same desire to kill as the one who wielded it. Easily as wide as a man, and twice as heavy, Ynliss handled it as if it were made of paper. One misstep would be all it took to be slain by the mighty weapon.

In battle we are tested. Strength, stamina and will are put on the line to determine who is greater. For the mighty, it is sport, for the weak, it is survival, for the righteous, it is justice.

"The Shield of Heroes will protect me in my quest for glory!" A blazing figure of steel and power surged past Ynliss, striking his side with a weapon unseen. On the other side was Lancelot, his Divinity Blade humming with power, the Golden blood evaporating in a matter of seconds. The storm was useless against him, as the shards were obliterated by the force of his psychic shield, his body pulsing with unseen power.

"Your reign is over, Ynliss. Resign yourself to the annals of history, or face destruction." Standing at the ready, the fight was now at hand, with two mighty champions against a god. Will they be victorious, or will they be destroyed as so many others have?

r347XZv.jpgFire, an offensive magic to the Matreyan weavers--her Queen had chosen her champion well, for fire ran in her veins and the glory of the battle was a thunderous tempo in her heart. The molten gold of her eyes did not miss the sword nor the world around them. But she was no longer alone on the battle field--and she had no patience to risk her neck to save another fool-hearty soul from losing their head. Still, the Old One was struck--and that gave Aziza the perfect moment to strike.

"Obsidian Obscurra!"

The magic pooled into existence; behind each shard of Obsidian the sparkling magic of her divine assistance blinked to life in a sparkling display and seeped into the matrices of the glass shards. It were as though it was the magic itself that would propel the shards with the strength of Aziza's Goddess--and it was so. A sea of black hurled itself at god-speed--a curtain of igneous bombardment that assaulted the Ynliss in his maddening quest to decimate all in His path. They rained down upon him, seeking to return to the earth from whence they were pulled. As instantly as he had attacked had Aziza retaliated.

A great wall of sand and dust, of heat and steam wafted into the air all around them as collisions were met. The Old One would surely sweep these useless pieces of glass aside with no effort. They would attack him like a vicious swarm of angry insects. Would the would-be hero that finally joined the fray be savvy enough to evade the assault she had unleashed?

For a moment, only for a second-- sword would sag beneath his grip. What would Ynliss do to this vicious answer to his call?
