[GS] Taurus

Recommended Posts

Jinsoku was brave and bold. His leap at Taurus would surely be the stuff of legends, if it succeeded.

Alas it would not. For he made himself the highest point in a thunderstorm. Mighty was his dragoon's leap, mightier still were the several bolts of lightning which immediately arced at him as he made himself the most obvious spot of focus. Though the young Slayer was instilled with the power of his Raiju, possessed of a supernatural resilience against lightning, it was to be the physical force behind that bolts that would be Jinsoku's undoing, slapping him away as though it were the hand of Taurus himself.

Perhaps that was the greatest insult, Taurus barely lifted a finger against the Knight, barely even noticed. It was his inbuilt defenses that stopped this attack cold, and Jinsoku would have to find a way around it before launching any more skyward bound attacks.

Little else grabbed his attention in the aftermath of the flare riding bikers scattering. Two of them would be hurt though, both on the brink of death with the maddened god's chain lightning having flashed through him, and the other with having their bike explode out from underneath them. Such was the price they paid for distracting and leading the demigod.

As Omar called out again, Taurus reacted to his name, and little else. He recognized Omar, even if only as one of the beings who caused him pain. The lightning around Taurus intensified again as the godling prepared another chain lightning, electricity striking him and crackling across his skin.

'SHIT!'

The thought was brief before Jinsoku found himself bombarded by the defensive storm around this titan. Akin to a lightning rod, several arcs focused on him at once. Not that it would be noticed by anyone, not even Taurus, just before the electrical and concussive force alike collided with him, Jinsoku's skin swiftly became an inky black. Utilizing the iron body technique had little to do with and did little to mitigate the damage from the elements, that he could take without being put down from one blow. The uncontrollable landing was another story. He knew he'd survive it, but at what cost? He needed to be certain he was capable of still more or less fighting at his peak after crashing violently into the ground, producing a smoking crater in his wake. Climbing out of smoke and crater alike, Jinsoku's face was filled with rage. The sight of Taurus intensifying his attack against their forces, and one of those foolish ones trying to speak with the wrathful God.

Listen kid, you realize if you -

b4476cbcdcd886baa98f77277b9d514c.jpg

The myriad of cracks from on the black skin as it dissolved once more was evidence of how sorely mistaken he was a moment ago. If he couldn't get through the storm by such mundane methods, how would any of these fools hope to penetrate the God's defenses? Let alone reason with it. How many of them were going to die? For the selfish desires of the few? Killing this God was becoming increasingly more his priority, for allowing it to continue to feed on the wild loci of the land would only make him increasingly harder to take down. One violent cough produced a spittle of blood that he swiftly rebuked, Wiping his mouth on the back of his free hand, his grip tightened on his sword which was glowing at glowing at least three times brighter than it was before. Likewise, Jinsoku's charcoal eyes appeared to be illuminated by a piercing, brilliant blue, laced with golden arcs as if he possessed a storm within each of them. His head hung down for a moment as stood firmly in a pose with his feet shoulder width apart, a nigh 90 degree angle to the knees and the elbows with his fists at his sides.

9cd8e555b1002d5e6b1eefb50e597391.jpg

Don't be selfish boy!

Don't let me die, dog!

His skin turned beat red as he began to exude an extreme amount of heat. His body began to swell, bulking up as it had appeared months prior. As his mass grew, his black hair had its random strands of white exposed as they glowed among the dark canvas, as it rose to stand on end. Sparks began to accumulate around him as he prepared himself to push beyond his limits sooner rather than later. The sooner he could remove this threat, the more lives he could save. No more. He had sworn to himself that he wouldn't lose anyone else to anything outside of natural causes. He wasn't sure if how many more he could lose before he lost himself. That was why he was so eager, so willing to put it all on the line; Against the wishes of his life partner. Parts of Jin's armor began to pop off as straps busted against the pressure of his growing muscles.

Was he seriously considering another direct, physical approach? Perhaps he though he was fast enough to bypass the storm and strike the God before he could be so easily thwarted again?

Events seemed to quickly escalate to the point where lightning and thunder had blinded and deafened the enhanced child. The disadvantage of having senses as powerful as Lexa's was when they were being attacked. Though, Taurus likely hadn't known of her presence at all on account of her being a very tiny ant among other tiny ants.

The bright flashes of light had forced Lexa to switch optics from visible light to infrared. The lightning was seen in sharper clarity, to the point where she could track the individual streaks of it.

Where her hearing was concerned, she was forced to manually dial down her auditory perception. Seemingly innocuous, the act left Lexa more vulnerable than she normally was, which made her extremely uncomfortable. She couldn't afford to be the innocent child Addison knew her as.

Omar asked if Lexa was ready. Since her orders to follow him weren't yet undone, she had no choice but to be. The child looked at Omar with a determined expression and nodded. Her eyes would have the same green-blue mix from when she was assigned to him, evidence of her using an alternate optical input.

Azelhart, as he was called, had offered Omar a weapon that he claimed might be able to handle Taurus's natural heat. Omar had stated he was running low on power, so he wouldn't be of much aid. From Lexa's analysis, Taurus and her weren't so dissimilar. Lexa wasn't a god as far as she knew, but high energy attacks produced a lot of heat. If the weapon could handle the heat from Taurus, it would certainly handle Lexa's.

Lexa would tug at Omar's side. "Lexa throw it. Big brother gets Lexa close and makes distraction, Lexa attack from behind." She'd also look at Azelhart, since he was part of this plan by default.

If Azelhart decided to trust Lexa and gave her the weapon, then Lexa would take it with her when she boarded Omar's dragonfly. If they decided not to put the javelin of destiny in the hands of the fluff champion, Lexa would accept that with no arguments and board Portis.

Grinding her motorcycle to a halt, Addison's heart sank as Jinsoku was swatted out of the sky like a fly, his physical attack culminating into little more effect than a mere crackle in the air. She set her sights on the God, dismounting immediately as lightning surged all over, leaving splitting fissures in the ground.

"Give me vital scans on Jinsoku," she barked into the intercom before reaching to her sheathed weapon. Her steel clad fingers wrapped tightly around White Reflection's hilt and in a single broad stroke, she drew it. The weight of the Arbiter's cowl pressed down upon her shoulders, tempting her once again with its power. As she stared down the physical manifestation of a fully powered raging God, she wondered if there was another timeline in which she would be forced to use it. But unlike in her other more spontaneous encounters, she was prepared. When she fought for her life against the armies of the dead in the ruins of the Whispernight, Minori's blessing had been far out of reach, her prayers falling onto deaf ears. But now, Minori was here. And with her patron Deity in such close proximity, she assumed the ultimate form of the divine. An equally ancient God of her world versus the power of a God of the new world.

7a516c364d067414adb4354b3c639414.jpg

As lightning continued to soar overhead, the ground beneath Addison's feet began to radiate with blinding light as a torrent of holy fire descended from the clouds above, consuming her instantly in its wake.

214a44840fd128094f024efef20367d0.jpg

If Taurus had not noticed her before, he would surely see her now. Rising upward as a silhouette amid a blinding ray of light, her entire body seemed to increase in size proportionately by a degree of twofold. And as she grew, so did her weapon.

White Reflection's blade thickened in width and length, its small hilt and cross-guard widening into the shape of a longsword. Soon, one hand joined another as the weapon became far too heavy to be held by one hand alone.

Even more peculiar was the fact that neither the weapon nor the human were anywhere near the ground at this point. As a pair of feathered appendages emerged from the edges of the light, the source of Addison's elevation revealed itself.

c02e9e7a8f858bbe2020f50994e1647e.gif

The transformation was complete. Addison towered above her brethren, standing at some twelve feet in height and propelled by a pair of sleek grey wings, spanning twenty two feet when fully stretched. As the light receded back into the thunderclouds above, all that remained was the Archangel's glowing form, encased in a five inch thick barrier of divine protection. Her eyes blazed with more fury than they ever had before, the very essence of Minori bleeding out of her eye sockets and down her soft cheeks. With the entirety of its length now clearly visible, the members of the Order of Force Majeure might have identified the sword she wielded as the infamous Rending Blade of James Eredas. To that degree, they were right. It was the same weapon, but different.

RmXg2mZ.png

Jinsoku had been sent hurtling by a single concentrated stroke of Taurus' lightning blast. It gave Addison plenty to be concerned about in regards to a physical approach in taking down the God. But where she paled in comparison to Jin in terms of raw outlandish strength, she made up for in her divinity. The divine nature of her defenses and attacks would surely strike far more potent blows on the God than any that was dealt with rifle or fist.

Using Dagger to cut the string of a loose end on one of the mittens she was working on she paused, looking around herself. Minori was currently in a tent on the floor with her legs crossed. Dressed in a flowing dress with her cape with the wolf hide around the neck, ditching her usual armour as she wasn't expecting to fight today.

Looking down at the mitten in one hand and the dagger in the other she wondered why the hell she was even here. Addy hadn't exactly explained to why she needed to be here but all Addison had mentioned was that Minori /had/ to be here due to her connections with the Dyrinic Gods.

Minori wasn't a God as she shared the mortal blood of her Grandfather and her Father. But, her Grandmothers blood flowed through her granting her the gifts of teleportation at first but shortly became more over the years. Due to a grand fight between herself and another God from a different religion she found out she was indeed a demi-god and not a gifted soul. Although she is worshipped as a Queen, only one person has formally pledged their worship to her as a minor Goddess.

"Are you familiar with the concept of magnetics?" The advisor would grin, facing Nextwin and Lexa, "I command the movement of metals in a similar form to magnetism - Given enough time to charge up, I could launch the blade at such a speed that you won't even see it,"

He'd stop on the outskirts of the battle. For all his offensive potential, he was extremely frail compared to the warriors around him, and thus it would be unwise for him to attack Taurus from that close a range.

"Your proposal is interesting, Lexa. If you throw it, I likely could accelerate the blade faster than my own throw. That ought to deal strong amounts of damage."

He'd stop to think a bit, and then hand the blade to Lexa, "Nextwin, where did your spear hit Taurus initially? If we strike the same spot, we can hurt it more."

When Lexa was given the cane, Azelhart had come up with the idea of using magnetism to speed it up. "Big brother focus on different attack. Lexa handle this." she said before sticking the cane to her back. There was nothing on her back to hold the cane in place, yet, it stuck like a super-magnet on an iron pole. No assistance from external sources would be needed to create this effect.

Once Portis had gotten high enough, Lexa would do a quick scan of her surroundings. Quite a bit of debris was kicked up by the winds around them. She gave a tiny leap to get on her feet. The same magnetic control she displayed for the cane would keep her from flying off of Portis. At the right moment, before Omar confronted Taurus, Lexa began running down Portis's tail and jumped.

The leap of faith wasn't for nothing. A moment after she jumped off, a flying tree trunk passed by and acted as her new platform. She didn't need any time to recover from the fall, her joints were already used to high impact landings so she starting sprinting down to the trunk's roots. When she got there, a bolt of electricity was used to attract a nearby spark of lightning to the trunk's top. The result from the impact was the canopy going down, and the roots flying up, turning it into a slingshot.

Lexa kept her hands pressed against her body, legs straight, and body firm like a missile as she shot towards a cow. She grabbed it, pulled herself up, and kicked off it hard while shooting lightning from her feet. The cow had a quick death, far better than the one it'd have if it landed while alive.

Another tree trunk was grabbed on her way up to her actual target, but no sparks of lightning to slingshot her, this time. Another tree was passing by that made her duck down to avoid being whacked by it.

A small distance away was fence portion. Lexa pulled the dagger she took from Omar and shot lightning through it. As air passed through the lightning, electrons were ripped from atoms to form free-electrons and ions- plasma. Rather than making the fence magnetic, Lexa increased the magnetism between the dagger and the plasma, pulling her off the tree like a slinky.

Lexa landed on the fence and angled it to catch the wind. This would be her final stunt before her true target- a large, severed rooftop. Riding the wind on the fence portion in the most extreme version of wind surfing to date, Lexa had redistributed her weight to make it go higher and higher until she was close enough to the roof to use her magnetic grab on it.

From the rooftop, Lexa would be much too small of a target for Taurus. He had no idea who or what she was. She had never attacked him, and adding to that, her combat robes were mostly black, just like the shingles on the roof. From here, Lexa would get down on a knee as all of her circuits began activating. Barely visible under the dark fabric, blue lights would appear on her skin in the shape of the same circuits found on motherboards.

As Lexa waited for the opportune moment to strike, still riding the rooftop that turned wildly in the winds, she continued building charge. Hopefully, Omar could stay a live long enough for the roof to get where she needed it.

It only took a few seconds to be fully charged for the attack. Lexa was standing on the roof with the cane in hand, ready to strike. Her moment came and Lexa sprinted forward and jumped from the roof. The cane was released and Lexa spun before slamming the top of her foot into the butt of the cane. She didn't have the luxury of aiming for the exact same spot that Omar hit. She aimed for center of mass, maximum damage if the "gods" favored her.

As every last drop of the energy she'd built up transferred to the cane resulting in a brilliant flash of blue lightning, the outside of the cane exploded to reveal the blade within, moving unbelievably fast.

If Taurus lacked the ability to dodge, the cane would impact the middle of what should be his spine. If the object moving at over six kilometres a second was able to penetrate him fully, it would start from his upper back, and explode out his xiphoid process- the lowest bone in the sternum.

Focus was one of few tenants of magic lack of which could cause magical rebound or cause a spell to fizzle. That was something he could not allow at this point in time. Hinoka chanted the mantras of his family and tethered himself in place as he struggled to hold onto his astral, mental and physical self into a single instance. But a divine wind of this magnitude, descending angels and arc lightning threw out power displacements, made keeping the ritual going like trying to keep a match lit in a hurricane.  Much more terrifying was how bare his soul was to the ethereal plane. The vast void that threatens to swallow us all at any point in time could see his soul laid bare.

562e678c95bcd0e513f6ede95c16a635.jpg

These people trusted him but they knew nothing of the intricacies of this power over the souls of mortals. With every bit of power he held in his soul he willed the strings to bind his body to his own mind. He could hear the screaming of the damned. He could feel the kiss of hellfire licking his soul. The price for meddling in the affairs of gods in the mortal plane was steep. One could lose themselves in the allure of power, knowledge or the dark temptation of merely letting go and floating out into the astral sea. But he could use the beacons of divine energy as guidestones. Something to lock onto and anchor himself to the mortal coil he called his body bringing him back to his senses he would quickly finalize the ritual.

7 days end and the gods rest, 6 moons set and the 7th day brings a new dawn.
Hear his footsteps in the sand, the reaper comes for all infinite cycles of death and rebirth halt.
See the figure dressed in black, hear the wind call your name and stir from slumber.
Awake on the seventh day and say your prayers once more.

Thousands of blue fibers would erupt from the circle as they streamed forth like that of a furious hurricane. Focused onto one large target. Taurus. Spiritual strings in the hundreds of millions would aim for the divine core of the god.

tumblr_pb6ealrJYB1wilsp2o2_500.gifv

Like roots of a living plant they would reach out and attempt to enshroud their target and drain them of every last bit of spiritual energy. Growing and creeping closer they would launch forth at Hinokas will. His hands snaking and reaching forth like that of a puppeteer guiding their marionette. His eyes shone with an ethereal blue glow.

He'd watch the cane ripple through the air towards Taurus. Well, not quite watch it, since it moved so fast it was impossible for him to watch. More so feel its presence flying through the air.

"Well, what on earth do I do now? There's no metal lying around for me to fling at Taurus besides the bike, and that's my speedy getaway."

Whereas Jinsoku was hard to notice, and his initial attacked halted by Taurus's natural defences, Addison was all too easy to notice.

And whatever divine defences she might possess were hardly adequate against the raw physical power behind a fist her size coming her way.

Or it would have been. Sensing Addison's unchained power and whirling about to confront her, Taurus was struck by a sudden pain through his body. Launched with such extraordinarily speed and power by Alexa, a small blade sped clean through the demigod's body. The shock of the attack did more damage then any physical hurt actually left by it, for the projectile was too small to seriously injure the godling.

But now he had a focus for his rage.

The belief that Addison was responsible for that pain granted him purpose, despite its falseness. That a million strands of light erupted from seemingly nowhere to entangle him as he began to charge toward her only solidified that thought in his maddened mind.

Taurus roared. The temperature around him increased dramatically in response to his fury as he thrashed this way and that, shaking the earth with every step. The fibers conjured up by Hinoka sapped at his energy but it would not hold him forever. Already Taurus was beginning to break them in his struggles.

"Oh, fuck me."

-

Drifting backward at a controlled speed, Addison braced herself to receive the first blow head on. Her longsword was lifted and brought over her right shoulder in preparation. Her wings fluttered furiously, bringing her swiftly out of range of Taurus' immediate blows. Not once however, did she face away from the God. To look away would surely be an invitation for death. Even with the divine strength lent to her by her patron Goddess, she doubted that her defenses would last more than a few hits. And being focused entirely by Taurus meant that she was now put on the defensive. All she could hope for was that her allies would make good use of the time she had bought them to cripple him before he dealt any serious damage.

Minori paused, dropping her dagger in her lap as she felt something tug within her. As she only had one person who worshipped her she could now and again sense when they were channelling her strength.

"What in the name of fucking Gods is Addison up to..!"

The Queen got to her feet as she was beyond bored of knitting and starting at the marsh green walls of her tent that kept her contained. Picking the dagger up and sheathing it into a belt that hung around the hips of the dress. Minori's belt consisted of two sheaths, one empty on the left hip and one that held Dagger in place on her right hip. Stepping outside of her tent she'd look around confused and curious about why she was needed here.

Just like her idol, the famed James Eredas, Shishi too placed such a high value in preparation. The chain lightning would have been threatening if only Shishi did not have the blessings of the gods. These blessings were the Renovatio gods' gifts to Shishi and her party for giving the beaten gods a new realm to rule and restoring them back to full godhood. The most important part here perehaps was the blessing of the titan god Cialo. The titan god always looked out for Shishi especially during the godslayer arc. Even now, the titan god still looked out for his chosen champion.

A wall of earth rose to meet the Taurus lightning. Both divine abilities somehow cancelled out each other but the resulting explosion threw Shishi off her bike. Picking herself up, she internally mourned for the vehicle and hoped that her mechanic would be forgiving since this was not the first time that her bike was destroyed. There was the space stone arc, Dougon, and now during the Taurus hunt arc. She only hoped that Sera won't skin her alive once she asks for another motorcycle.

Shaking off her wary thought, Shishi turned her attention to Taurus. Without the necessary precautions that she and her group were used to, the god hunt almost looked impossible. It seemed that she had realized a newfound respect for her sister's organization and their efficiency in dealing with the gods. However, she cannot rely on them forever. This was the path she had chosen.

Cialo. Sagittarius. Rifornire. Libra. Montis Maximus. Aquarius. Pisces. Lend me your strength.

Once more, Shishi pleaded with the indebted gods to help her subdue their brethren. It did not take long for her to feel their presence within the lands of Renovatio. Divine energy filled her body as wings of light formed on her back. Soaring through the sky, she made her way towards Taurus. If the god was still sane, perhaps he could feel the presence of her brethren. Cialo's booming laughter echoed within Shishi's mind as she drew in more energy from her patrons.

A spear of divine light formed on her right hand. Magical runes appeared around it, the very same ones her sister used in subjugating the other gods. The first time the spell's concept was used, it allowed them to disintegrate Cialo's defenses ultimately beating him. The second time this was used, it was a massive spell array which trapped Sagittarius and drained the god of her strength thus leading to her defeat. The third time this was used, it grounded Pisces from the air and shackled it into the ground and slowly sapped away the god's strength resulting to her death. The fourth time it was used was on the goddess where it brought the god down from the heavens and into mortal soil. Each and every time this spell was used, a god 'died.' This time won't be any different. With each iteration of the spell, the casting time and preparation needed became less. Just like mundane technology, application, innovation and development would lead to a newer and better version of the product.

1 hour ago, Phoebe said:

"Oh, fuck me."

"Perhaps we can do all the fucking later! Let's deal with Taurus first!" Shishi cried as she flanked the flying Addison. Her friend seemed to be wearing some sort of winged contraption and glowing rather abnormally. Is this what Aslom used to refer as 'cosplaying' or would this be 'larping?' Whatever it was, Shishi ultimately decided to ignore it in favor of her friendship with Addison.

Hefting the enchanted spear of light, Shishi aimed at Taurus. Despite the increasing temperature, Shishi's concentration remains unfazed. Channeling the energy of the seraphim Rifornire and the titan god Montis Maximus, Shishi's resistance to heat and fire should be enough to contend with Taurus' efforts. Taking a deep breath, she threw the spear with unerring accuracy and extreme force. Ever since Cialo's body merged with hers, Shishi had grown accustomed to the sudden rise of her physical prowess.

The spear of light flew true and soon it reached the god's body. Just as Hinoka's ritual slowly sapped away the god's energy or Lexa's attack reached the god within moments, Shishi spear too would embed itself into the god's flesh. Upon contact, the enchantment on the spear would unravel and contaminate that portion of the god's flesh. The magical runes would slowly cover more ground and weakening or incapacitating the areas affected. Just like the other iterations of the spell, it would take energy from the god's own to sustain itself and continued growth. But would they be able to survive before Taurus succumbed to their efforts?

The blade, seeing as it cut clean through Taurus, would loop back towards Douglas.

"Holy shit, I'm a genius--"

As soon as it landed however, it was clear that the once beautiful blade was just a useless piece of scrap. A most disappointing turn of events.

blood curdling war cry erupted from him, lace with a booming roar of thunder. As intimidating as he might have looked to just about anything or anyone excluding the God, it was not his intent. The strain this amount of power put on his physical form was simply that immense. As his skin began to glow beneath the intensifying arcs of lightning, his eyes glowed so feverishly they became completely emissive. His head shot up to place his gaze on his prey, Taurus. Despite all his immense training, and the Raiju within, Jinsoku still held the human flaw of being unable to sense God Ki. This left him more or less oblivious to the true power Addison and Shishi harbored, likewise, it hindered him from knowing with certainty that Taurus was being weakened. In any case, even if he was being weakened in the moment, he was still severely stronger than they expected him to be upon arrival. The Raiju was considered a divine spirit where he hailed from, though it's master was another, greater divine spirit. Raijin.

It felt as if he was being stabbed with a searing blade through every inch of his flesh and bone as he was being torn asunder. Above and around him, not completely unlike Taurus, Jinsoku conjured a storm around him. To more human sized foes, this was perhaps a daunting site, though to Taurus it was likely comparable to a single cloud or two; Nothing like the prowess of his own defensive storm. Having been hit by Taurus' arcs allowed him the best viable chance of getting away with this next move. Lifting his charged Executioner's Blade towards the heavens, a single bolt of lightning came crashing down through the center of his own growing storm, into the tip of his blade and washed throughout his entire being as the Raiju and himself worked in unison to forsake his physical form altogether. It was possible that Jinsoku wouldn't survive using this technique, though that was a risk he'd already proven willing to take. Likewise it went unnoticed that his right, divine touched arm glowed unlike the rest of him, donating bits of gold into the sea of blue.

His armor was little more than a thought by now as most of it had already fallen away from his prowess.Ultimately his body became translucent, as if he were becoming the storm itself! As soon as his mind could convince his semi-corporeal form to move, it did. Jinsoku burst forth, screaming across the battlefield with speed several times faster than his natural capability allowed. With a cartwheel into a flip, Jinsoku torqued his body, generating a spin before chasing his blade with one of his actual skills in order to launch it with as much speed and power as he could muster. By casting it with bolt of lightning, he created a tether directly to it. The brilliant streak parted the dark sky as it screamed it's way for Taurus' neck (now from the flank?). Physical form or not, it wasn't likely that Jinsoku's feet would touche the ground again, especially not before that blade reach it's destination.

Jinsoku had endured the storm, his body became a vessel for the storm, and now he'd apparently learned to become the storm himself! Judging by Rei's concerns, he couldn't sustain it for very long, lest he ran the risk of shortening his overall life expectancy. The more power he used, the longer he embodied the storm, the less likely he'd be to recover.
