Regardless of Race [Class B Quest]

Recommended Posts

Hell's Gate was a city of technology. Known as the locus of scientific progress in Fracture, the city was booming with experimenting clockwork that appeared to be from Genesaris, strange blends of chemicals augmented by magical process, containing elements which should not have existed in this reality. Yet in spite of the scientific brilliance of this city, men were just men, and they were far from being incorruptible.

Recent weeks had seen a rise in racially motivated violence between the elven and human population of Hell's Gate. Foreigners may have cast apprehensive glances, but it seemed that anyone living within Hell's Gate knew exactly what the motivations behind these acts of violence were. However, one man sought out to put an end to it all.

Gerald Fitzmartin, a local self proclaimed 'ambassador', sought out protection and aid in his mission to promote racial harmony between the elves and humans. He intended to meet with the elves directly, and in large masses, so as to drive home the sincerity of his approach and his message. For this task, he had sought to bodyguards and diplomats, but few were willing to take up his cause, deeming him insane and disloyal to his kind.

However, it would take the eyes of a foreigner to see the true value of his words.

Within a week, Fitzmartin received a letter in response to his call for aid. It promised the arrival of at least one individual, and that said individual would try to bring more people to their cause. At the bottom of the letter, was stamped in bright red: あ世ら.

Fitzmartin waited at the agreed meeting place, a small four chaired table in a cafe, largely populated by humans. He looked around nervously, unsure of who his willing benefactor could be.

And there was indeed a foreigner willing to answer the call. He was a person with a colourful background. He had fought hard battles for the re-establishment of the freedom of his people in their own state, and even harder battles to reunify these peoples with their lands and form a nation with boundaries similar to what they were so long ago. He had made peace with most of his former enemies and his nation had been turned from a semi-rural and technologically stalemated nation to a highly competitive industrial, agricultural, and technological power.

Now, it was time to help others make peace and end tensions, and he would commit himself to be a peacekeeper.

The man, as always, in his beloved green coat with medals on it, as well as several basic pieces of equipment, took a seat on the four chaired table.

'So, you are Gerald Fitzmartin, correct? If this is the case, then you are indeed not alone in your task.'

Araxie brushed through the crowd into view of the cafe, wearing a flowering blue dress with a white collar. As she strolled down rows of neatly arranged shophouses, Araxie couldn't help but notice the exquisite pottery on display.

It reminded her of her home in the Northern Elf Kingdom, as most people called it, And for a moment, was in awe, and dreamt of her childhood, before quickly breaking out of their thoughts and into reality again as they walked into the cafe and took a seat at the table.

Araxie briefly looked around the table, all the joy of re-imagining her childhood faded away as her eyes landed upon the familiar Bulgarian god. Araxie sighed, knowing they would have to 'get along', or at least tolerate the man if they wanted to make peace, not that they thought it was really necessary for a bodyguard to be there, and looked away.

Araxie only then noticed that the 'diplomat' they had been informed of was there, and gave a small wave. "Good morning."

After a while Evelynn followed after Araxie , she was too wearing a casual blue travelling cape with a light blue dress and a crown of blue roses.

Her familliar "Vaeril" a small and funny white fox who protects Evelynn from any kinds of magical attacks walked behind her as he looked at her with confusion.

Holding the letter that she got sent , she was pretty excited and ready for any danger , to be honest she hasn't been in any adventures for ages which in fact is why she got super excited. She looked around the cafe to find the `ambassador`...but she didn't only find the `ambassador` she also found Araxie and the Bulgarian God "Khan" who she has not seen for ages , even though Erenia was in war with Bulgaria , she was still kind to him. "Good morning!" She greeted them as she took a seat.

"Doctor," Addison remarked with surprise when she saw Evelynn seated at the table upon arriving. "I didn't think you would make it. It is a pleasure to have you with us."

She strode forward, picking up a chair from an adjacent empty table and setting it down between Evelynn and Araxie, upon which she spoke.

"We have been gathered today to oversee the safety of our ambassador, Gerald Fitzmartin, whom will be entering the elven enclave in the city. Gerald, is there anything you'd like to inform us of before I begin my briefing?"

Fitzmartin was a man of small stature, wearing a pair of minuscule glasses which rested on the tip of his nose. He leaned forward calmly and looked at the various assembled individuals.

"A pleasure to meet you all," he offered Araxie a sideways glance. "Especially you, elf! In Hell's Gate, our two races have been at odds for years now, but only recently did the tension grow out of control. With you here, we will truly be able to send a meaningful message."

Addison nodded in response. "Indeed, if the elves see that Araxie is able to coexist with us without tension, then they will see that a world of cooperation and racial harmony is possible."

She addressed Araxie directly, "For that reason, I want you to be by Mister Fitzmartin's side at all times. Protect him from harm, and when people see the cooperation between man and elf, they will be more eager to hear what he has to say, and more convinced when he states his beliefs."

She turned back to Khan and Evelynn, "The three of us will be establishing a safety parameter. Khan, could you shift your physical form to possess elven ears, at least temporarily? And Evelynn, do you have any sort of bewitching spells which could cast a cloak on your appearance?"

The Master Knight reached into her satchel, removing a small but familiar mask from old missions. As the Harlequin Mask slid over her facial features, her ears began to visibly morph, forming the illusion of a pair of long elven ears.

"And now, we are elves," she remarked cheerfully.

"Of course  , i would make it i haven't been on any adventures for ages!" Evelynn whispered to Addy as she made sure that Vaeril was next to her.

"A glamour spell would be perfect for this situtation , we just need a mirror" She exclaimed as she opened her satchel to find a mirror.

"Yup-I have one" She exclaimed as she pulled it out , put it on the table and then grabbed her trusty Grimoire in which she has written any kind of spell , ritual , sabbath and celebration of the goddess Hecate , she has "met" so far

"Now if you'll excuse me-" Evelynn stood up and walked in the cafe's toilet  while holding a small mirror and the Grimoire. Even though Vaeril has to follow Evelynn always , he just jumped up on her chair and curled himself.

After a while , a white-skinned elf , with yellow glowing eyes and velvet-black clothes walked to the table , grabbed Vaeril and sat on Evelynn's seat.

"Well how do i look ?" Evelynn asked as she brushed her hair with her fingers , which in fact made it a bit blacker.

The request was certainly surprising. While Khan could change forms at will, he never expected to dress up as an elf.

'I /theoretically/ can. It just won't be very comfortable for what I will be using I guess... but that is possible. Actually, let me try something new that I have learned over my time perfecting the art of shapeshifting.'

Then Khan just said something in some old Slavic language, and boom. While he had no elf ears, he had something else. Similar to Addison's mask, he had modified his identity. Using a small amount of energy X that is constantly emitted by the body, his aim is to afflict those in the vicinity with targeted mental and physical illusions to make them see that Khan has elven ears, when he actually doesn't.

'And there we go. That is much better. If this is all, and we are ready, I can probably show you what I brought with me to feel a little safer while on the mission regarding travelling to those elves.'

"Khan...i'm glad to see you again" She told to Khan as she gave him a warm smile and then put her Grimoire and mirror in the satchel.

"Anyways-What do we need to Addy ? -I will help with any way i can!" She exclaimed  as she tried to hide her scabbard with some cloaking spells which in fact just made it smaller.

Even though Evelynn didn't had to change Vaeril's appearance , Vaeril just turned into an owl and flew up on her shoulder.

"Oh that could help , Vaeril" She petted her familliar on the beak as she looked at it warmly.

'Hello, Evelyn. It has been a while. But, I am here, nonetheless, standing alone as two have become one, at least in the realm of physical existence, for nearly a century and a half. So, I am at least glad to know some of you are still kicking around and have long forgotten the stain that ruined some of the relations.'

Khan said this with a particularly uncomfortable tone that was especially concentrated and noticeable when he mentioned two becoming one

[Araxie ( @HeeHooAraxie69 ) leaves for personal reasons. The writer is currently unable to roleplay for the foreseeable future]

"Right, let's get to it," Addison remarked. "Lead the way Fitzmartin."

Addison got up, followed by the ambassador, who promptly pointed at a small bus station along the street.

"The elven enclave is at the opposite end of the city. The walk will take us about two hours. A bus ride thirty minutes due to the circular nature of its route."

The group was all but ready to proceed with the plan, but nature had it that Khan Asparuh would have something to say about it, as he always did.

'Interesting. I did not quite intend to go on a bus...mostly because I was not aware of the fact there was a bus station. I had actually prepared to watch the meetings from a distance away in an armored vehicle or two, mostly because I am probably not needed directly at the negotiations.'

Addison blinked when she heard what Khan had said. She and Fitzmartin exchanged confused glances.

Wha- armored vehicle?

She narrowed her eyes questioningly, wondering if the prideful Bulgarian God had violated any laws regarding arms possession with his high tech contraptions.

You’re supposed to be protecting the ambassador, Khan. How do you expect to do that while hiding inside one of your- what do you call them? Tanks?

She contemplated the possibility of escorting the ambassador using the vehicle, though this was far beyond her expertise to coordinate. This was Khan’s area.

'Well, I ain't necessarily hiding in it. Just because it has armour does not mean it lacks other things, such as observation equipment, situational awareness platforms and guns. Also, I can shoot from pretty far away using it, and can also be pretty precise and not cause much collateral damage. Besides, I can always get out of it and rush back to the scene if I need to. I have brought an armoured car along with it in case I do need to actually rush back.'

"Quite a cowardly gesture for a supposed God," Addison remarked, shoving her hands into her pockets as she followed Fitzmartin to the bus stop. "Public transport it is. Perhaps I'll finally get to experience what it's like to live in the working class."

She chuckled under her breath, peering over her shoulder to make sure that Evelynn ( @Evelynn Serana Nightmoor ) was following. She was sure that if they had somehow managed to leave Khan behind, he would wind up somewhere near by, one way or another.

The bus stop was extremely crowded. largely composing of what appeared to be engineers heading to work.

"Hell's Gate has one of the largest airship docks in Terrenus - or Fracture as they call it now," Fitzmartin said, gesturing vaguely to the other men on the bus. "It's quite profitable to work for the airship companies. They pay well, though employment is mostly short term. If your work is efficient and you're skillful, you'll get hired in no time though."

"Oh that's pretty interesting , please do tell more about Hell's Gate!" Evelynn asked Fitzmartin as she made sure that Vaeril her familliar , was on her shoulder.

"By the way should we be afraid of someone or something ?" She asked Addy as she walked towards her while trying to hide her small enchanted satchel.

"Should i cast any protection charms or spells ?" Evelynn had asked Addy once more while grabbing her trusty Grimoire and started flipping through the pages.
