........................................

Sunset had come and gone and Hinoka had spent most of his day on horseback before finally arriving in predators keep. His back was sore and the case in his back was heavy. Setting it down with a gentle *thud* he rubbed his lower back to alleviate some of the pain. His spine giving a few alarmingly loud cracks and pops before finally settling into place.

"Man I'm way to young to be this sore."

He grunted as he untied his bags from his horse. It was odd how much of his life he fit within these old leather bags

Making his way to the closest inn he would order a stiff drink and a room before taking a seat in the corner of the room and enjoying himself. Counting the last of his coin he wondered what exactly costed so much money to get here. And it would be another 2 weeks before his next payment was delivered.

He wondered for a short moment how long he could survive on an all ale diet before hearing a familiar sound. A low cheer from the back of the pub gave way to the muffled punches and hearty laughter. Hinoka walked closer as he made his way through an excited crowd huddled around a particularly large fighting ring, where two men brawled. It had to be at least 10 yard in every direction surrounded by a wooden fence. It was a fight pit! And that's when his problem solved itself. He would bet on himself and part some fools with their coin.

Sauntering over to place his bets he would await a challenger.

The inn itself was bi-polar in it's make with tables encircling and warm crackling hearth on end though it was A popular spot, not for its ale or service, but for it's indoor clobbering ring. A dozen or so feet from where the patrons sat their asses was a staggering pit thirty feet down with steps carved into it's farthest corner. Bleachers set up for those seeking a better view and today they were nearly packed. The roars and cheers vibrating the wood 'neath his feet. The victors of the their bouts chose their next battle from the encircling crowds, and if he won the streak would continue until he was brutally deposed by one he chose. A gimmick the inn used to keep bets flowing in, and it worked like a charm. Hinoka gleaned A dark elf adorned in gold trim taking small sacks of gold from several patrons, and guessed that this was where he could place bets.

"Fifty gold on Heathcliff? my my, hes getting quite the pool"
Hinoka heard the elf say, his focus away from Hinoka's direction. Their conversation ending there as the merchant only snorted and turned toward the match that was still in progress. The dark elf turning toward the stranger's approaching form and quirked an eyebrow. This one could be an excellent addition to the ring.
"Pardon? you wish to bet on yourself? My my...you are an eager one! No armor or weapons may enter the pit, but anything else is fair game~"
He said with a chuckle, nodding and taking what was offered. His focus now on the fight that was coming to an end.

A lean dragonborn of blue scales threw two solid fists into the ribcage of a raging orc. Hinoka seeing the battle experience of the two with their levels of exhaustion. The dragonborn giving him now quarter as he kicked the ground and froze it into a clear sheet of smooth sleet. His footwork becoming that of an ice skater as pirouetted around his foe and brought a fist through his open stance. The sound of his fist colliding with the orcish skull resounding throughout at the pit. Heathcliff victorious once more as the orc collapsed in a heap. A breath he had been holding for quite some time being released in a long streak of chilled air.
"Does that mean...I have to pick someone again?" A soft and articulate voice coming from Heathcliff that did not match his lean athletic build, scratching his head as he looked through the crowd nervously. He was never good at much such decisions! His eyes fluttering to his master. Hinoka following his worried gaze to another dragonborn that was tailored in an immaculate pettycoat. His golden scales reflecting off the double breasted buttons as he only smiled to Heathcliff and pointed a singe finger toward Hinoka himself. Heathcliff doing a double take before bowing in understanding
"I shall pick him as my next opponent: Let it be known once more that I fight under the tutelage of Thraice Galdric of the chromatic dragon stance! I will fight my hardest!"

Hinoka watched carefully as the dragonborn danced around the tank-like orc. Pirouetting and skating around the ring like they were floating on air. Magic was allowed.

A small smile crept across Hinokas face as his devilish brain started to formulate a plan. Only to be awoken by the loud crack of knuckle and skull. As the orc fell. Time seemed to slow as all the available information culminated at once. As he was picked from the crowd. And the dragonborn made a spectacle of himself declaring his master. Slowly Hinoka entered the ring throwing his coat  with his left hand over the one of the wooden posts surrounding the ring, all while very subtly attaching one of his spirit strings. Leaving his bare chest exposed one could note an extensive magic rune carved into the base of his neck.

His opponent was fast, magical, light, and a bit of a showboat. He noticed the ice scattered around the dirt where his opponent left them. Bending his knee he would begin to inspect the material, it was a thin but very sturdy chunk of ice.  Running his right hand across frozen surface leaving another near invisible spirit string attached to the ice, just before tightening the laces upon his shoe.

Reaching the center of the pit he would nod to his opponent before taking his stance. His posture lowering his loin and opening both feet widely before outstretching his arms palms open, facing toward his opponent. Before finally; over the humm of the crowd, 2 chimes of the bell began the match.

The crowd became hushed as they eyed the latest challenger; watching him as he entered the pit with a hidden calculations most misread as cocksured. Hinoka getting a better look at Heathcliff now and faced a lithe, but fit dragonborn wearing only burgundy breeches without shoes or any chest adornments. His scales turning from their normal bronze to a frigid blue; bowing with upmost respect before immediately standing on the tips of his toe claws with his fists poised on either side of his chin. His opponent wielded an unknown fighting style and so he deferred to first rule that was beat into him.
Dragons who are faced with an unknown foe should seek to annihilate them in haste; hesitation is death to our kin.

"Chromatic Dragon Stance: Ice!"
It was all the drive he needed; his claws carved through the sleet as he skated across it with fluid affinity, moving in a straight line into Hinoka's person space, spinning with growing speed an putting the weight of his pirouette into his fists as he swung two deft punches aimed at either side of his ribcage. The scales around his hands crackling with bitter cold. The ice splitting in his wake as he came at Hinoka with drive, though an inexperience still present.

Hinoka smirked as the dragonborn had fallen right into his trap. With all of the quickness of a slingshot Hinoka's coat flew from behind him off the rail and flew over his shoulder, aimed squarely at  Heathcliffs face.

"First, the distraction-"

He thought as he pulled his right hand with all he could muster. A chunk of solid ice pulled with a whistling speed towards the lithe figure skater was his next attack.

"Followed by, the closer."

The two frost fettered fists connected with Hinoka's ribcage as the coat smothered his vision and caused him to leap backwards and regroup; tearing the coat from his face in time to see a chunk of familiar ice clobber him in his head and smashing him into the side of the pit. Wood splintering and cracking around his embedded form. Blood dripped through his scales down his face as the ice underneath Hinoka vanished. The ice stance fading. Heathcliff pulling himself from the indention. He somehow threw a chunk of ice without grabbing it directly...he was indeed up to some sort of trickery. He would need to adapt. His scales beginning to glow a virulent green as his fists began to drip with caustic affluence.

"Chromatic Dragon Stance! Acid!"

He swung at Hinoka from ten or so feet away, a rapid flurry of punches that connected with nothing and yet the puppeteer could feel the acidic heat burning at his face as silhouettes of Heathcliff's fists were fired at him like acidic bullets. A series of four aiming at his midsection. This stance a ranged maneuver designed to keep his foes at a distance

Heathcliffs fists made contact with Hinoka's bare skin. Fridgid ice sticking to his exposed flesh just before the projectile chunk of ice sent the dragonborn flying. Skin ripped from Hinoka as his assailant was sent hurdling backward.

Time stood still for Hinoka in this moment as he could feel the chunk of ice disappearing from his spirit twine. The string dissipating into the ether. But the coat was still attached at a distance.

His thought process was halted as a sizzling acid seemed to appear from his opponents fists. A barrage of acid laced punches streamed into the air passed his face. His response time luckily was fast enough to perceive the danger before his face became a pile of mush. Backpedaling as fast as he could Hinoka pulled his left hand. The coat would fly as through the air aiming to wrap up Heathcliffs feet. If this worked Hinoka would have an open shot to close in on his opponent.

It was impossible for Heathcliff not to feel the rush of true competition; feeling the platinum gaze of his master upon his form filled him with unimaginable determination. His opponent's speed and reaction time a difficult beast as he narrowly dodged the acid punches as they scoured the wod of the pit behind Hinoka. Heathcliff attempted to move in closer, but felt that damnable cloak cling to his footwork and cause him to go off balance. Hinoka wasting no time to take the advantage.

Heathcliff having to jam a fist into the ground to keep him upright, but his stance had broken and he was vulnerable in the moment; His tail sweeping the ground around him to try and interrupt his opponent's opportunity. His other fist seeking to dole out any sort of damage it could as he swung forward as he fell.

"Strike while the iron is hot."

Hinoka moved forward with the last piece of his plan. Aiming for a final crane kick to Heathcliffs face.  The dragonborn fought valiantly attempting an all out defense as his balance was swept from beneath him. Hinoka was running out of tricks now and in a fair fight Heathclif had the clear advantage so with all of his might Hinoka swiped up with his shin hoping to finish the fight.

Heathcliff had been scraped off the slums of decrepit streets and molded into a worthy heir to the chromatic dragon stance. Thraice choosing only a single pupil to impart his self made style and saw great potential in Heathcliff.

It was a potential he wanted to live up to

His experience in combat solely from training alone, using the fighting pit to gain experience in real combat... finding more of it in this opponent than he'd expected. The crane kick cracking his his head against the floor and  causing his vision to black out.

He had lost

The dark elf's cheers being drown out by the cheers of patrons as Himoka ended Heathcliff' streak of four.
