[Santado Island] Pursuit of Potion

Recommended Posts

Nilan belched as the small, wooden structure in the vague shape of a boat rocked violently.  She swallowed back the ghastly taste of bile in her throat. She hasn’t consumed much for the long period of time.  She’s  been rolling on dangerous waves. She stood slowly, swaying with dizziness. She attempted to take a step, and her hand caught the wall.  She leaned against this wall, which was built as a room, and slid down against it. She was nauseous with fever.  Her journey has cost her so much of what little she wanted to live. It encouraged her that the weather was  calm. A couple of fluffy clouds inched across the sky, as the sun’s unyielding rays wrapped Nilan in their warmth. Nilan stretched her legs out before her and allowed her skull to rest against the wall. She was lost in an unrelenting body of water.  She was endangering herself to save her father, whom she would give her own life for.

Nilan ran slim fingers through her auburn hair.  This quest has already drained her.  Her figure was deathly thin, and her emerald eyes gaze  roamed over the water. Suddenly, an odd sound issued from above her. The creature circled the boat and Nilan shoved herself onto her bare feet.

A form of life!! It must mean land!! Nilan thought with giddiness. The boat rocked as she reached for the rope that controlled the sail. Her excitement grew where she spotted a shadow of something in the distance. She attempted to keep the sail on course, squinting her eyes as she watched the shadow become larger. As she grew closer, she realized the shadow was a forest. Nilan huffed in exaggeration, keeping the boat on course to the land. Suddenly,  the boat slowed and Nilan tripped over herself.  Sudden sounds of wood scraping rock split the silence of the forest. Nilan pushed herself up and gazed around her.  The boat drifted onto the coast, and came to a halt. Nilan inhaled sharply and released her breath in awe.

There are so many trees!!!  Nilan reached up and rubbed her shoulder.  The coast was littered with sharp stones.  She contemplated how she was going to climb out of the boat with bare feet and travel the coast. Suddenly, the sound of movement caught her attention.  She swiveled her head, trying to peer around herself. The noise grew louder, like something splitting stone. Nilan sunk down to the floor of the boat. The something crushed the stone beneath its feet. Whatever it was, it was large with tough skin.  Nilan had curiosity, and leveled her eyes with the edge of the boat. The creature before her, she had never seen the likes of it. It looked to be black, leather skin. Four legs held the creature standing and it has two pincers.  A long tail was three snakes, which forked tongues flickered in and out of their fanged mouth. The head was cat like, the eyes aqua. It’s ears swiveled eagerly as the creature surveyed the boat.  Nilan slid as close to the floor as possible, trying to slow her frightened breaths.

Suddenly, a loud thud sounded.  The feet of the creature were steel-like pads with razor sharp claws.  Then, there was a screeching sound as the claws pierced the wood. The creature came up into the boat, forcing Nilan to defend herself.  As she reached her arm out, the creature slashed at her arm.  Nilan screamed in agony, a very large gash just above her elbow. The injury spewed blood as muscles and bone were revealed.  Nilan screamed as loud as she could.

Traversing the verdant sea that was the Conchu Jugle, the three, Aya, Ira and the crystal dragon Myuil, had been in search of a particular fruit that grew there. It was to be given to a barkeep in Matuda City, on Sandato's north-east tip, in exchange for what he promised to be the best drink Aya had never had. This venture, as it would turn out, was interrupted by Myuil's ears twitching. From his perch, curled up atop Aya's head, the meter long reptile lifted its head and let out a high pitched clicking sound. From her time with the beast, Aya could assume it meant that some form of danger was about.

The twins, Aya and Ira, look about their surroundings. Aya held her staff at the ready, Ira had prepared a black and red magic circle. No danger was seen. At the second scream, while unheard by the twin shrine maidens, Myuil had lept from Aya's head and began charging through the brush. "Myuil!" Aya shouted, turning and reaching her hand to the dragon, trying to get it to slow down so they could move as a group.

Large bounds taken to leap over floor-bound roots, the dragon picks up the scent of blood. A fresh scent, strong, traveling across salty air. Myuil's cerulean eyes changed to a much lighter, glacial blue. As he neared a cliff, and the end of the trees that prevented him from spreading his wings, he jumped and unfurled a pair of cyan wings that immediately caught the wind and took him up.

Following the scent and scream, Myuil saw a large creature. It was a chimera of sorts as far as Myuil could see, and it had turned its attention to a seemingly unworthy opponent. Nilan would hear the sound of shimmering on the winds, like a very soft wind chime. Shortly after that, she would hear the crackling of lightning, a loud explosion, and the screaming of an alarmed and injured chimera followed by a loud whacking sound.

If Nilan had the strength, physically and emotionally, to peek at the scene around her little sailboat, she would see a dragon twice the size of the chimera-like enemy that attacked her. Myuil's body was covered in crystal in the shape of feathers. He had used his crystal breath attack to grind away, cauterize, and crystallize the beast's three snake tails- preventing them from growing back if that were possible. The whack sound she'd heard before was him using his powerful tail to swat the attacker from the vessel, preventing further damage to its owner.

The chimera had hissed at him, and Myuil's retort was pointing his head to the sky and firing off another of his attacks. The flash from the attack's lightning would act as a beacon, letting Aya and Ira, as well as anyone else nearby, know exactly where he was.

A strange person emerged from the forest, eyes barren of any colour, as if there weren't any to begin with. His hand and the attacker began to share the same black aura, before the person thrusted their hand in the direction of a sturdy tree, in which the creature was thrown into. The person held their hands behind their back and slowly approached the attacker. He spoke in a quiet voice, not loud enough to hear, but it left the attacker in uttermost fear. They then took out what seemed to be a kitchen knife, and slit the creature's eye before dashing through the forest, away from the area.

"Auntie Shishi, this is a strange place,' Dymid remarked as she walked beside her older relative. "I have seen this in my memories and yet this is the first time I have appeared here."

Relative might be a peculiar term with regards to Dymid and her aunt Shishi. Despite the two can be mistaken as sisters, Dymid could be considered a baby despite her appearance. At the very last, Dymid hair was black contrary to Shishi's blonde locks. According to Dymid, she was one of the proxy clones spawned by Shishi's older sister and released to into the world for reasons still unknown. What all these means is that Shishi is once more stuck to babysitting duties.

The two were enjoying a stroll near the coast when they happened upon the poor boat being harassed by a strange creature. Dymid was the first to break the silence.

"Should we help?" asked the curious girl.

"We'll watch for now," came Shishi's reply after noticing Aya and Ira's presence. 'I'm sure someone will help soon."

Nilan continued to scream, fear causing her mouth to froth.  The pain was excruciating .  The creature pushed itself up the side of the boat, it’s long, curved claws digging into the weakened wood.

Suddenly, the wind spoke a language to Nilan, something calming. The calm sound disappeared as a new one took place.  The creature standing over her was blasted on the wall of the cabin. The sound was deafening for a moment.  Suddenly, another creature climbed its way into the boat. Nilan’s screams heightened as she took the creature in. It was beautiful. The sunlight bounced off its scales. Her eyes began to darken over as the pain only intensified.  Her breaths came in shallow, and she found that she had lost control of her body.  The blood from her wound leaked over and around her. She choking on her saliva and her pulse dropped.

While Myuil had begun his fight with the chimera, Aya and Ira were running through the brush to try and catch up. Upon seeing the flash of lightning, they knew it was Myuil, and they knew he was giving them a beacon to follow. Aya extended her hand, her maroon eyes turned blue and a similarly colored aura extended from her hand and the vegetation in her path.

Using her telekinesis to move vines, branches, roots and anything else that may hinder them out of their way, Aya was able to clear a path for her and her sister.

While they were still on their way, a strange bushman had emerged from the wilds, summoned from the universe to serve its function in society as this chimera's worst fear.

Myuil would wait for the chimera to attack before moving to the side and using his large mouth to latch onto its back, hoist it off the ship's deck and throw it off the ship and onto the shore. This would be around the time Aya and her sister emerged from the treeline, standing at the top of a cliff overlooking the beach where the battle was taking place.

Receiving an order from his partner, Myuil would smack the ship's railing with his tail to knock it out of his way before standing majestically in the gap he'd created. He'd spread his wings and take in the light from the sun and sending it out those crystal-clad structures to create an immensely bright, sustained burst of light that would blind the chimera while also lightly searing its flesh.

From her spot at the cliff, Aya would cast a spell while Ira held one in reserve. The spell Aya casted would be a divine curse, meant to put the creature into a deep sleep. If that didn't work, fire would rain down on it with intent to completely destroy the chimera, courtesy of Ira. This would only happen if the creature was able to resist Aya's spell.

A large beam of light would form on the chimera, piercing through it's body, through all of its natural defences and damaging it severely. The person from before would be walking away from a far off distance.

Nilan’s pulse was dropping quickly as she bled profusely. Her screams of pain were diminishing as the loss of conscious was a threat. She tried to push herself into a sitting position, but such was a difficult task.  Through eyes that were gazing over, Nilan could not use her injured arm.

There was a battle happening right before her.  She could barely process the scene before her.  All she knew was that the world has gone black.

Aya was hoping to be able to save the chimera, but it seemed as though fate wouldn't allow that. She looked at Ira, who was the more destructive of the two, waiting for an explanation. "Don't look at me. Light's much too tame for my tastes, you know that." "Yes. How could I forget." Aya replied while scanning the area for the source of the attack.

Myuil had turned around and looked to where the chimera was clawing it. The thudding sound of his each and every footstep echoed through the ship accompanied by the creaking of the wood below his weight. He paused and stared down at another one of those fleshy things that Aya and her sister seemed to be one of. The dragon tilted his head and let out a soft chime sound.

Having seen the blood where Myuil was, Aya ran along the edge of the cliff until she came to a spot that was just low enough for her to comfortably jump from. Using her telekinesis on herself, she was able to gently land on the prow of the boat and keep her balance while moving to the deck.

Stopping over Nilan's body, though, ignorant of the person's name, Aya waved her hand and used telekinesis to move the debris off of her. It was much faster than removing each board herself. She moved her staff forward, dangling the pair of scales over the woman. A black glow had given Aya the answer as to this one's immediate future. Her time of judgement had not yet come.

Having confirmed that she was allowed to help this person, Aya placed the butt of her staff under Nilan's damaged arm and asked "Myuil, would you mind?" The dragon breathed a gentle breath on the wound, releasing small bits of crystal that expanded and encased it to perform the task that her platelets had failed to do. She would be lifted from her own blood and moved to a cleaner spot not far away where Aya would sit next to her in an oriental fashion.

One hand rested on Nilan's chest, the other held her staff. She spoke in a language that was completely foreign, not just to Genesaris, but foreign to the entirety of Valucre. Black energy came from the staff and Aya's hand, which would spread through Nilan. The energy wasn't darkness, no, that was cold and painful. It was light, and would feel warm to Nilan.

If Nilan woke up, she would see a young looking woman with long, silky, black hair. Maroon eyes would stare softly at her as Aya smiled warmly while saying "Good morning." in a warm tone.

"It seems that everything is taken care of, Auntie," said Dymid as things seemed to calm down with the chimera mostly dealt with. "Should we approach them now?"

Shishi narrowed her eyes. "Seems suspicious though. But...I see Aya and her sister. I guess it should be safe to go near."

With that the two walked towards Nilan. In over-protective mode, Shsihi was taking the lead and letting Dymid follow a meter or so behind. In Shishi's eyes, Dymid was still a child knowing that her neice was only recently spawned. One could even say that Dymid was still a baby.

As Shishi finally drew near Aya, she called out to them. "Hey, Aya! How's sleeping beauty doing?"

The pain slowly faded and Nilan’s pulse slowed to a steady rhythm, as though she were sleeping. Heavy boards were lifted from her damaged body, and something stood over her with another creature standing to the side.  The something was gently breathing upon Nilan’s deathly injury.  Nilan could feel the wound being closed somehow.  It was an comfortable feeling as the wound eased closed.  Nilan slowly being to regain full conscious, her eyes fluttering into focus.

Nilan thought the creature must be human, though she could be guessing wrong. The female said “Good morning” in a soft tone. Nilan met the maroon eyes and gasped for air.

Myuil had long since picked up on Shishi's presence. He had laid down on deck of the ship, crushing a few small things under his weight, but leaving the floorboards unharmed- claw marks not accounted for. He formed a circle around Aya, Ira, and Nilan with his body.

"Huh?" Aya softly said, lifting her head and looking in the direction Shishi called to her from. As the woman took in a deep inhale, Aya turned her gaze back to Nilan and then to Shishi. "She appears to have woken up."

"You forget your manners in whatever backwater hole you crawled from, or are you so blind you didn't see me?" Ira chimed in from not-that-far away. She had her arms crossed over her chest, but spoke in the same gentle tone that Aya used. "As if I cared to be greeted, anyways." she said shortly after and went to sit on Myuil. "Ira, perhaps you would be greeted more often if you weren't a tsundere about it?" "Just take care of the wash up."

Aya let out a small sigh before looking back at Nilan. "Hello, are you fully awake?"

As Nilan’s breathing stabilized, she blinked her eyes several times.  She met the gaze of the maroon eyes watching her.  She coughed and reached her arm around herself to feel the arm that was injured.  She felt no pain, and was surprised by this.

”Wh-wh-what happened? Nilan questioned, emerald eyes glancing around in fearful curiosity. There was a large creature that had wrapped itself around Nilan and the girl.  Nilan’s eyes widened. She had seen these fascinating creatures in books, but they weren’t supposed to exist.

Nilan pushed herself up, using the wall to keep her body straight. She swayed in dizziness but remained her composure as she gazed at the dragon. She wanted to touch it, but feared it, and, for that matter, feared the female, whose eyes watched her.

Her initial response was appropriate for someone who just nearly died. "I'll take that as a yes." Aya said, accepting the question as a sign that the woman was fully awake.

"Oh dear..." Aya said with a nervous smile as the woman turned her attention to Myuil and began panicking. She began getting up. "I wouldn't try to move so suddenly..." But no. The woman wouldn't listen, and instead continued getting up.

There was fear, towards Myuil and towards Aya that she could sense. Well... that was an appropriate reaction.

Myuil had turned over and slowly got back on his feet, the floorboards creaking once more under his weight. He slowly approached Nilan, stopping with his giant, tooth filled mouth only a foot from her. Opening his mouth would produce a shimmering sound that would cause the crystal on her damaged arm to recede, returning to the form of a single, crystal feather.

"You may touch him, if you wish. Myuil does not attack without reason, even if I command it." "Because you're weak." "And don't mind my sister. She has a hard time expressing herself. Do you have a name, miss?"
