The Reclamation: Inquirius Prime

Recommended Posts

Event: Uprising

"I do not think you understand, Marshal," the bullman ground his foot into the floor in agitation. "The natives will not side with you. They will support the Seven Stars because their leaders are in his good favor. They have full faith in his bold claims that he can 'drive the invaders from our lands'. Why do you think they would side with a foreigner?"

Releasing a long sigh, R'aak slammed his coiled fist proudly against his muscular chest, releasing a beat that could easily have been mistaken for a wardrum.

"Only the Earthshapers will side with you. But only if you commit to absolute opposition of the oppressors in the Seven Stars. All of their leaders must be executed for their monopoly and corruption. And the 'natives', as you call them, must be made to respect our kind."

The bullman let out a soft chuckle.

"Sometimes I wonder Marshal, if the real aliens in this land are your people or mine."

Hawk thought for a moment before speaking, he didn't want to further agitate their new ally.

"I see. Very well. Then I suppose we have no choice but to knock Heitl off his pedestal of delusion. He struck first, and will pay for his crimes." Hawk sighed unfolding his hands and laying them flat against the scratched tabletop. He hopped they didn't have to resort to killing each other over land, but if Heitl can't be reasoned with they might not have a choice.

"If we're going to take down the stars, I have a few more questions. Any idea how many men Heitl has? If i'm going to call for backup, I'll need to know what we're dealing with."

"You and your people know this land best. I'd appreciate if you could provide us with a map of the territory controlled by the stars."

The bullman nodded.

"My people have brought a gift that we hope may be of some use."

From his belt, he retrieved a large parchment that was easily as tall as a human being. Placing it onto the ground gently, he rotated his hand firmly in a circle. The earth beneath the parchment began to wrap around its edges, curling it outward fully until it was spread completely.

"The Black crosses indicate the stashes of Seven Stars which our scouts have discovered. However, we dare not loot or attack them. Each stash is protected by powerful magic wards and traps, and if Heitl finds out that we have taken from his stashes, he will burn our settlement to the ground."

Hawk leaned forward in his seat, his eyes dancing around the map laid out before him as he studied its features and locations in relation to their own.

"I still need an estimate on how many men Heitl has if we're going to deal with him. If you wish I can station men around your settlement to ensure its safety. Additionally, do you have any idea where Heitl is held up? Though I trust your statements about their unwillingness to cooperate, I'd like to see if Heitl can be, persuaded.

Hawk begin to formulate a plan of quelling this uprising. First, he considered attempting to drive a stake through Heitl's territory. His first move would be to cut off access to the stars western caches. Already the tribe of the Bloodhooves and Pyromancers guild were locked in between their territories. Severing the stars supply lines would be easy. Each location would be allowed the chance to surrender and denounce the stars, if they refused the simplest way to force them into submission would be to siege and starve them out until surrender. Next reinforcing the Shinobi Village and Turbines would sever the stars access to their southernmost stashes. Reinforcing the line between Crescita and New Acheron would box the stars in completely. With only the steel bank and village of snakes remaining Hawk and his forces could close in from all directions and siege the remaining two sites until a surrender.

"Hundreds," R'aak sighed. "Maybe even thousands if he has the support of the various settlements."

He turned around nervously, eyeing the settlement in the distance where his own people lived.

"We will defend ourselves. If the Seven Stars seek uphold their corrupted laws, they will get nothing but earth and blood.

Is there anything else you'd like to know, Marshal?"

"As you wish. Thousands is enough for a small scale war if they play their cards right, but as we knock the stars onto their knees i'm sure their numbers will break."

"Any clue where Heitl is hold up?" He sighed leaning back in his chair again, his mechanical hand still resting on his chin in thought.

Hawk began to develop another idea, perhaps if they found a way to make their numbers appear far larger than they actually were, they could intimidate the stars into standing down.

"No, Marshal," he replied. "They are everyone, and nowhere."

With that, the bullmen turned to leave, the throne of earth sinking back into the ground.

Hawk was left with a map, some blessings, and the goodwill of some cow people. (Atlesian Migrant - Admiration +2, Respect +2, Fear +5, Happiness +2, Genesari Natives - Admiration +1, Respect +1, Fear +1, Happiness +3)

Over the horizon, a very familiar tune rang over the hills. 'The March of the Goddesses', the anthem of the infamous Goddess Class and also the HLM. As the song got closer and closer, a single truck drove over the hills around Inquirius Prime. behind it, a massive naval gun, a spare from the Goddess herself. Behind that, 2000 Howardonian troops under the command of Rear Admiral Bromhead.

The troops were dressed neatly in their Khaki uniforms. Somehow clean for the several hundred-mile march across the empire. Their rifles were fully loaded but clean. They got lucky and didn't come across any danger on the way. Their line, however, was slightly disorganised. It wasn't the normal perfect rectangle, instead, it looked a bit like a rectangle that has been drawn without a ruler. A little bit off at the edges. The march had worn down the men, their legs aches and their stomachs were hungry. Discipline was still a must, hence to why the line still looked a little organised.

There was something impossible to not notice though. Above them, a helicopter. It wasn't seen before among the eyes of Atlesian migrants. A wonder of aviation technology constructed by Atlesian hands. Howard was fairly proud of it, however, he was alert of the much more powerful Airships. This flying propeller with rockets would do for now. Either way, it was terrifying to see it above you.

Behind this massive collection of troops and technology came the rest of the pack. 20 trucks drove behind the massive column. They were packed to the brim with small iron girder like poles along with wooden planks. All supplies for a railway. Of course, they contained food and water too.

The force arrived at the gates of the city. The trucks moved away to an area where they could quickly reload as the soldiers set up camp. The helicopter swiftly came to land at a nearby field and the artillery gun was simply moved with the rest of the trucks. Bromhead walked about and noticed what Howard was complaining about. the gemstone of technology had less than enough houses for a village and not a single engine insight. Now he understood why he was there, to sort this place out.

"Hm. Thank you for your time." Hawk stated simply as the bullman made his exit.

As the team gathered the map and packed up to return to Prime, Hawk further contemplated his attack strategy. The stars holdouts seemed sloppy and scattered. With their current footholds, it didn't seem like too much of a problem splitting their forces apart and severing supplies. Hawk's biggest concern however was their firepower. From what he had been told, the stars used automatic weapons. Weapons Hawk and his troops didn't have access to. However sheer numbers and artillery would certainly be a supporting factor of their success.

Upon his return to Prime, Hawk gave the order to allow reopening supply lines. However all supplies were to be heavily escorted back and forth by a rather hefty guard force and several Atlesian War Wagons. Caravans were given permission to defend themselves and their shipments at all costs, and were permitted to use deadly force if engaged. Additionally, using a private channel Hawk radioed for backup, requesting as many troops as they could spare to assist in queling the uprising. In order to start things off, they'd have to move swiftly to sever the stars access to the caches and box in their territories.
